The star reduction is not for the quality of food or lack of cleanliness etc. It was just not value for money, we have had really good skewers at a much better place and setting. It was way too expensive for the quantity given. What is the point of spending so much and not leaving with a stomach full. Maybe it's just a personal preference but was very disappointed. For a chicken skewer set (4 pieces) and 2 beef skewers and 2 drinks it was 60$
OPened from Japan, very authentic. Taste good. Yakitori is based on BBQ chicken skewers but it has evolved into many more varieties including beef and seafood. Excellent match with a cold beer / wine/ or chilled sake. Highly recommended
Lovely staff, cozy atmosphere. Skewers were good, and was pleasantly surprised by the aburi shimesaba and the yaki onigiri chazuke. Probably wouldn't get the ebi mayo again tho.
Great spot for Yakitori style izakaya. This is on the 2nd floor, above the Ramen spot. Very authentic. You pick your options and write them on a piece of paper and can customize how you want your skewers: with yakitori sauce or just salt. Here, you mostly order little dishes / skewers. Dont expect to be able to order a side of rice. Great for sharing and ordering the quantity of food you need / feel like. I recommend starting with ordering a little to see if there are any items you really like so you can order extra before the meal is over. Their washrooms are funny cause they’re hidden and it has that Tokyo subway announcement in the speakers. It was a good experience overall although on the pricier side. You can make reservations.
Went right at 6PM to an empty restaurant on a Thursday, said they would seat us at the bar then chatted amongst themselves and decided not to seat us without reservations. Not kid friendly I guess, we had our 7 month old baby. Very disappointed.
Real Japanese yakitori we got unagi and omakasi set with a bunch of skewers would recommend sake was amazing beer was cold and servers were kind and friendly
One of the best yakitori izakaya I have been to in Toronto. Both there food and sake are top quality. The service was amazing too as not only the server was very friendly, buit the chefs were great as well. The atmostphere was also very nice however, it had to be the washroom that was the best. The instant you walk in, it completly reminded me of Tokyo. One of the best experiences I had overall.
Got skewers and some unagi sushi. The unagi is one the better ones in the city, big and juicy! The skewers were well done with plenty of flavour, (bit scallops btw). But their takowasabi was great, gives you that wasabi nose hit! Highly recommend trying, but the only downside is how expensive it is! Loved their secret door to the washroom, the look on my face when he pointed to a wall
I was meaning to try this place for quite a long time, and finally got to try it. It's a very small cozy restaurant with approximately 6-8 tables only plus some bar seats.
I've read some other reviews saying that the skewers took very long, however, my skewers came out super fast. The food selection is a bit limited, however I like that they have "half" orders, which allows you to try a variety of everything.
Service was great too. I would definitely come back when I get the chance. We had 8 drinks amongst two, which is why it came to 82 per person.
Located on the top of kinton ramen, their yakitori experience feels a lot cozier and more intimate.
I tried a fair amount of their menu, from the omakase set, yakitori and tapas. I thoroughly enjoyed almost everything I ordered! The ebi mayo, nankotsu karaage and age dashi are my izakaya favourites and Kinton Yakitori did not disappoint!
I also really liked their yakitori. Both the shio and tare options were great. The only hit for me was the “snack platter” that came with the omakase. Personally not a fan of things like liver, heart etc but that was a personal preference.
All in all, a great spot for some Japanese izakaya and yakitori!
Went for a late night feed. Fabulous. Rivals some of the best I've been to overseas.chicken and vegetables yakatori were a hilight. Agadashi Tofu broth was a star. Small great spot for a date. Highly recommended.
Quite small in seating but very good food, takes a long time to come so i would definitely recommend to order a lot at the start. Drinks were fine, nothing special, the beef as well as pork belly was the highlight, the negi (scallion) was not worth it at all. But overall, very good experience! Definitely recommend!
First time trying ramen in here but got attractive with design of restaurant. Ramen I rate 7/10, the plus point is that the piece of meat in the ramen bowl is left in a strip of meat placed on the noodles which is quite unique in creativity. The processed meat is quite soft, easy to eat and fragrant with the spices that are marinated on the meat. Maybe I will come back again to try other unique dishes
