The BEST Sensei! & Amazing renovated Dojo. I joined Kitchener Karate Academy 2 years ago. Since then 3 more members of our family have joined the Kitchener Karate Academy family. Sensei Phil is so passionate about teaching and mentoring students. His classes are well presented, challenging, detail oriented and fun! My confidence and physical capabilities have improved significantly in the last few months. Sensei always says “ it doesn’t get easier. You just get stronger “.

Kitchener Karate Academy is the best karate business in town. If you are looking to join some sort of martial arts and learn self defence, then this is the perfect place for you! The community is great along with Sensei Philip Bellam. Phil is an amazing teacher, puts hard work into his teaching and techniques and always makes sure that everyone is also having fun at the same time. I have gone to a few classes and i have loved it, it’s a good workout but it’s also a very enjoyable every class. Sensei Phil is not only a great Sensei but also an amazing husband, father, and friend, he makes everyone feel welcomed and gets to know his students well but most importantly pushes them to their best ability. It’s always so welcoming and it feels like you are apart of a community even on the first day! I highly recommend joining this Karate Place, you will not regret it!

My daughter Laila just adores Sensei Philip. He is very professional and is sooo good with the little kids. He takes his time with all the kids and makes sure to point out if they do well or give extra help with those that might be struggling a little bit. I am so happy we went with Kitchener Karate Academy I can honestly say I see my daughter training there for years to come.

Thank you so much Sensei Phil for providing our son a fun, energetic and happy environment for him to learn Karate. He loves going every week and we know he is in good hands. I love that he takes time to get to know his students and my son doesn’t feel like just another number. I would recommend this gym and program. Anyone who can get a little kids to do strength/core training (push-ups, crunches, and leg raises) without a whine and get them enjoying it deserves a medal.

My son can’t wait for this class. We go twice a week and he wants to go more! Sensei Phil is great with kids. Although he is kind with the kids, he doesn’t let them get away with goofing off. He has his ways of getting their attention and it works.

Great dojo. Sensei Phil teaches traditional karate very well by always thinking of ways to make his lessons both fun and effective through games and drills- but he is also serious when needed, such as gradings or tournaments. He is a great teacher, would definitely recommend for all ages and skill levels.

I got back into martial arts after 9 years and Sensei Phil was the right person to go to. Classes range from kata (forms) to kumite (sparring) and conditioning. Going back was easy because the classes were easy to follow and included a LOT of conditioning drills to help me get back into shape. I would recommend this dojo for any beginners who are curious to start!

Our son is enjoying learning karate here for 4 years, he was shy kid but Sensei Philip is always encouraging him to try new skills, now he is wearing a green belt! So proud of him, highly recommend for kids! And everyone is friendly, clean, great place to learn authentic Shotokan Karate.

I joined in September and as a previous karate player, I can say this dojo is a perfect fit for anyone willing to pick up karate. Sensei Philip has shown me many new techniques and has helped me refine my old ones.

I’ve practicing at Sensei Phil’s dojo for a little more than a year now, and I’ve been having a great time!

I trained Shotokan Karate when I was a kid, and also during College, but due to shortage of time I had to stop. 9 years later and more than 6,000 miles away from my previous dojo I found myself struggling to find a place with a great sensei that was serious and fun at the same time. Until I found Kitchener Karate Academy.

Sensei Phil is a great sensei for kids and adults, from seasoned practitioners to people who never practiced before. He’s been training and refining his skills since he was 9 years old, and has been teaching Shotokan for years. He’s always excited and ready to help:)

My brother has been going here for a couple years and has progressed very well. Sensei Phil has gotten his interest in the sport to a whole new level. The dojo is a kind community where you never feel left out.

The Instructor Sensei Philip is very nice and friendly. He makes the kids feel at home. He cares about every individual one so no one feels left out. The kids seem happy around him. The place is also very clean and organized. I wish I had known about it long ago. I would recommend this place 100%.
