Kind dedicated people. I've gotten my newest 4 legged companion from them, a wonderful creature, in good health and as advertised, shy and needing love. Not your typical Human society.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. Tried to call about 2 dogs roaming on a busy street without collars and no answer! After I tried calling about 5 times and others trying to call as well, we couldn’t keep up with the dogs anymore. Hopefully they get home safely.
I had the most amazing experience here! We dropped off a stray after hours and the worker was very helpful over the phone. We then decided that we wanted to go back and adopt the cat and the staff was so helpful and quick to respond! Andrea helped us during the adoption process and she was so informative and kind. The two ladies at the front desk were amazing as well and they were so sweet to us and to our new baby. I can’t say enough about how happy I was with this experience and I will be recommending this humane society to anyone in the kw area! Thanks so much team!
Excellent experience adopting our new furry family member. The staff were very nice and helpful. They offer a lot of educational information on pet care and introducing your new pet into your home. You get a nice little care package to take home with you with some high quality cat food, a collar and a toy.
Awesome job re-homing animals in need. Will definitely continue to support this cause.:)
My wife and I brought in a stray cat a week ago. The staff were very caring, comforting and kind. We called to follow up and see how the cat was doing. A very nice woman called us back promptly and provided a full report. We are very impressed by how responsive they are and very thankful for the love and caring they provide for our furry, four-legged friends.
No response when trying to adopt a dog after filling out the forms and waiting to hear back. The dog's photo was then taken down 3 days later. A simple response indicating the animal had already been adopted would have been nice. We could have chosen another pet instead. You can't be that desperate to re-home animals. I won't bother trying to adopt from you again.
Some of the most sympathetic, kind, understanding people I've ever met! My husband and I visited the KTR human society a few weekend's ago and the kindness and help we received was above and beyond. These folks work long hours, rescue animals, i can only begin to imagine what they see and go through in a day. They were so friendly, welcoming and so willing to help us out (with a smile the whole time). I really don't know how theses amazing human beings do this type of work day after day. They really need to be acknowledged and thanked for the work that they do! Thank you ️
I love that they take care of animals. I went on the weekend and donated a bunch of blankets and the guy was not appreciative at all. Was cool, an non caring and not even a thank you. Just lazily, foolish told me where to put them. I will tell you it definitely didn't make me feel like I wanted to take my money an buy more material an make more. That's for sure!
Staff were standing around chatting for half an hour+ while people were waiting, then staff complained they were too busy. They were annoyed by anyone there, the online descriptions aren't true at all. It was just awful. I'm a huge pushover so waited hours while they stood around only for them to then complain to me and act annoyed. They weren't taking through care of the dogs either - dew claws were never clipped, ears not cleaned etc. The animals are healthy just only had basic care. They don't pick up the phones so you can't call.
I just dealt with an agent who was just awesome to chat with. She was very informative and helped me through my issue. Her name is Maddie and I would hope all who read this ask for her (no offence to all other employees) Just a super attitude and an animal lover Ty Norm Atkins
Absolutely useless and didn’t want to help at all. I called about an injured stray cat and they didn’t seem to care. They seemed annoyed that I called. They said that they wouldn’t come pick it up unless I caught the cat myself and brought it to my house. I couldn’t do this as I have dogs and no way to catch the cat and keep it. They don’t care about injured strays apparently.
Horrible service and unkind staff. Called several times to get some information about an animal/adoption, left several messages and never heard back. Find out a week later that the animal I called about was gone. Finally got in touch with someone there and they were quite short tempered and seemed very disinterested.
I was selected for an adoption I very clearly stated that I had no one living with me but I have a child of my own that doesn’t live with me … my child lives with her mom they warned me over the phone that this kitten shouldn’t be around children. So I was like okay great my child doesn’t live with me as this kitten is aggressive and over stimulated so I decided to bring my child to see the kitten and they determined that I can’t bring the cat home as they were afraid of it being aggressive to the child.but again I stated the child did not live with me very unprofessional and a waste of my time at the end of the day
The absolute trauma this place has left me with is irreversible. Hopefully they’ve found more compassionate and understanding staff to assist future clients.
My two cats were treated there by neuter and spay. I am very grateful and pleased with the service and care we received. Special thanks to Chelsea, who always showed us the best attitude and good care for all of her furry (and not so furry) clients. Thank you! *instagram: @moonstone.landed.on.mora
I was so excited to take home two white bunnies! Staff was friendly and very helpful but also gave us space to get to meet the little critters! We got them Saturday and they've adjusted well to their new home
I have to thank humane society for the animal situation they helped couple of weeks ago. Staff Sarah Canavan was extremely helpful and friendly. Super efficient, too. Thumbs up to you all.
I left a pet rabbit that I found in my neighborhood here and I was questioned by the staff as if I am a criminal. Once my neighbor and I found this poor rabbit, we posted about it in our local facebook groups to find the owner. I kept it in my backyard for about 6 days and my daughter enjoyed this rabbit’s company while he is our guest. After 6 days I decided to take this fella to this place since we couldn’t find the owner. Staff here blamed me not bringing this rabbit in the first place and implied that I had bad intentions to keep him. First of all I didn’t know such places exist in KW. Even if I did, I was expecting to hear thank you for taking care of this rabbit and driving him to this place which took 45 mins in total. I would suggest the stuff here to be humane to humankind first and then try to be humane towards animals as well. After this experience, I am not really sure if they treat poor animals there humanely or not. Once you enter into the building, first thing you’d notice is the jail-like big gates. Worst experience ever for a person who loves animals.
If i could give u -1000000's i would, you should all be ashamed in how you operate and handle situations. Recently you put down my friends cat after it was missing for 3 days, without even searching for the owners, without even checking missing animal websites, you put down a sweet kitten. Everyone is so disturbed by your actions. You dont deserve the title of "humane" because how you operate is monsterous.
We adopted a crusty cat named Moose a few years ago, and figured it was time to finally review the love our life on here.
Moose is the weirdest, most human cat the world has ever seen. Absolute crust ball of a cat. This man is the best animal the world could have given us.
Social Skills: 12/10 Our boy adores human connection Cleaning Skills: 4/10 That's okay though, he is worth the daily clean Adaptability: 8/10 Will scream during a fire alarm but trusts us wholly Humor: 11/10 This guy still makes us laugh all day long Cuddles: 15/10 He actually will not leave us alone, we love it though! Intelligence: 3/10 Only knows food and pets but somehow we still believe he is secretly the smartest animal on the planet
Thanks KW Humane Society. From house after house, to a forever home. Moosey Man says thank you!
The Staff there was very welcoming and very understanding and helpful with the fact that I have a hard time comprehending and understanding certain things
I couldn't ask for a better bet or their assistance they were kind and courteous checked many times upon my pet and made sure that everything was okay the kindness that they showed was above and beyond
Unprofessional, unqualified management at all levels. Management and adoption staff need to work on organization and professionalism. Keep the welfare of the animals your absolute first priority and continue helping all the animals that you can. Thank you for all you do for the animals.
Have been working with the Feral Clinic for the past few years.especially Chelsea & Stacey. They have been terrific.so friendly and helpful. Thank you ladies for all your hard work.
We adopted reese the Jack Russell beagle here in March a year and a half ago and they're always professional and rescue dogs and cats when they really need it they always take good care of the animals and walk them regularly people always have a good experience here and are always happy very good with pet food donations and has lots of very good cat and dog food to choose from
What an amazing place. If you're looking to adopt a furbaby or donate food, please make this a priority. So many pets need loving homes and or they need donations such as food or money.
Nasty women that I dealt with. Talking to me like I'm a child. My kids left the door open and the dog got out. I called over there and they had my dog. I said I will pick him up I could be there in 5 minutes. She then tells me they close in five and that he will have to stay over night. Well that to me is just terrible. Instead of waiting maybe a couple minutes so my animal doesn't have to spend the night in jail, freaked out and alone. She then tries tell me what kinda of pet owner iam and says I'm to late. She must be a real animal lover to let my animal go through that for no reason. Shame on her and the human society for having her on staff.
They turned me away from adopting because although the office was open and advertised as such, the back adoption area wasn't for another hour. I just dont have words for how terrible it is that animals are being abandoned and euthanized but this place would even conceive of turning loving homes away.
We held our youngest daughter's birthday party here. The price is right and they do an amazing job keping the kids busy for the whole time, it was a great learning experience.
Well. I'm really not sure what to say about this place.
It seemed nice, the people seemed honest when we went. Couldn't be further from the truth though.
I just had a family member come into my room crying telling me we weren't going to get the dog we went to see. Shes crying because we were told a decision was not going to be made for a week.
That was Saturday. We were told that a decision was made for someone who put in an application Saturday. When we were there, we were told no one put in any applications Saturday.
It was my birthday that day too. Like you people COULDN'T have done a worse job in this situation.
You completely lied to us, wasted our time and got our hopes WAY up. "Oh we wont be making our decision for AT LEAST a week, so if you come back that will increase your chances".
As we were getting ready to come back and see him, we find out that he has been adopted already. Yesterday in fact.
Furthermore, they brought the dog in for its FOURTH visit with people that day (we were its fourth). The dog just wanted to sleep, he literally fell asleep on the floor in the interview room. That's how tired and over seen he was.
I assume they thought the dog didn't like us based on this.
Thanks for giving the Humaine Society a bad name to us. We will not forget the treatment we received here.
I have never been so disappointed in a Animal Welfare organization until I had dealings with KW Humane. They praise themselves on having great statistics while the reality is that they are picking and choosing which animals come into their care. This involves turning away all animals that have even just minor medical or behavioural issues. They actually turn away surrenders due to age (over 8 years old) in order to keep their stats in check. Surrender wait lists that are months long when they only have three cats available for adoption and have rooms empty. They are leaving animals in distress to suffer within their community and have the attitude that it isn't their problem "Putting onus on the owners to make better decisions for their animals". Literally stating to owners they will "just euthanize seniors if you bring them there" which is leaving other reputable Animal Shelters to clean up their mess on a regular basis. This is 2019, I am disgusted to call KW my local Humane Society because it seems they are doing nothing for their community. Something needs to drastically change, they have a huge facility with a vet on staff and have the potential to do so much good when other shelters in Ontario are doing far more with far less - Step up KW.
They LIED about the cat’s status when I adopted my cat. Staff there described my cat’s personality as shy. However he was very aggressive and should be properly trained before adoption. After three months of adopting my cat, I just find out his is a feral cat and was not ready to be adopted at that time. It took me a lot of time to train and tame my cat. To other people who wants to adopt there, be careful with your choice.
They came very quickly to pick up a stray cat we had caught. And when I called in to ask about the cat's status, the person on the phone was very kind, looked it up for me and confirmed that the cat was happily adopted. I tend to worry, and it was a great relief to know for sure this cat is doing alright. Thank you so much for helping the animals and for laying my worries to rest!
Im very hurt by this place, our pet passed away and we took the body to them they told one of my family member about pets above so we paid 80 dollars for cremation they said a paw print would be included and now they are saying it's not. I have the recording of them telling me it's included and then after a 2nd call on the same day they say that it isn't we are extremely hurt by this plz. Plz get your facts straight this was so painful to go throw. Now we don't get a paw print. They didn't even apologize right away I had to get it out of them while on the phone, Zero compassion we could of put my baby close to home but for law reasons we thought let's bring her to humaine society. Worst experience my pet and us deserve better.
Very helpful staff, would definitely recommend if you're looking to adopt a cat or dog. Great diversity of healthy animals. 90% of the 1 star reviews on here are about this one dog that got euthanized, "Hank". Good job animal lovers, deterring people from going here and adopting animals; you're really helping the cause.
I have never adopted here but when I go in to donate the staff is always welcoming and helpful and it is definitely a feel-good. Great place to support.
Clean facility, friendly helpful staff. Proud to have this organization here in KW. Great for kids and small groups looking for a pet or just to visit some animals
Stacey the Vet Tech is such a sweet lady, she's super helpful and very friendly. I like this humaine society it's very clean and the animals are well taken care of.
It was really neat passing through the space and seeing a lot of animals ready to be adopted. The facility is quite large in comparison to other ones I've been inside of. The adoption centre staff was extremely knowledgeable. We spoke amiably and felt like we would stop by here again in the future for my partner and I to acquire our first pet together.
The reviews here disgust me! People are saying on their visits there are not many animals to adopt, least of all dogs. I think it's because they are euthanizing them all! I can't believe they euthanize healthy adoptable animals. I once had to bring a cat here and called back to see if he got adopted and the lady on the phone was short with me and rudely said "yes" and hung up the phone. Now I fear after hearing all these reviews that he was most likely euthanized and that saddens me to no end. These people don't deserve any support! These actions are horrific and something needs to be done ASAP!
