Took the sharpening class and bought some stones and the sink holder. I love that they have many class options because many other places don't have classes as often. I ended up being alone so it was a private with Mekki!

Class is pricier than other places that offer classes, however, you get 10% + 50$ credit so if you're planning on buying sharpening gear or a new knife anyway, this can make the class almost free and I'm happy with their prices and quality of knife sharpening gear. You may find cheaper elsewhere but it'll also be cheaper quality.

If you want to get your knives sharpened here, also the best place in terms of price and service. They take a look at the whole knife and see if it requires additional work like thinning included whereas other places will charge. I believe they'll oil thr handle as well if necessary.

Also got myself a beautiful petty knife and it cuts wonderfully.

I find supplementing the class with the many knifewear videos on YouTube will help you get all the tips and tricks and the class helps solidify the learning and ask additional questions!

The experience of purchasing my first high-end knife was made easier by the welcoming and knowledge staff. I can't wait to use these new tools in the kitchen daily!

Great store. I am very excited to start cooking with these goregeous knives. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and kind. Jessie and Chris were very patient and thorough with me and my partner when we came to pick out new knives.

Took the knife sharpening class with Luca - great class, helpful explanations, and you leave with your own knives sharpened! I also bought a knife - staff very knowledgeable, helpful and kind. Lots of interesting kitchen gadgets and a solid variety of cookbooks. Highly recommend!

Such an amazing hidden gem on Bank street! I had the chance to attend their knife skill class on Saturday and it was such a great experience. In addition to learning various cuts/techniques we got to test a whole tray of knives - small, large and everything in between. The instructor made everyone feel welcome and got us all excited to chop stuff up. After the 2h course you also get to wander the store and all its hidden treasure. Everyone is extremely knowladgeable (and patient!)

I stopped in to pick something up from the men's grooming section for myself and a gift for my brother. I met one of the employees, Chris, who recognized my hat and is from the same province as me. He comes from a town I lived in for a number of years, my brother just bought a house there too! Chris was very friendly and helpful. It's a small world.

One of the coolest shops i’ve stepped foot into in Ottawa. Their inventory is incredible and the staff are super knowledgeable and kind. Would highly suggest!

5 Stars + for these guys! A place that will refund your money back for whatever reasons, no questions asked is worth a hell of a lot in my book now a days! Definitely worth my time to review, mention them to everyone I know and go back for future purchases.

I was excited to see that there was a knife sharpening service near the Glebe, but after leaving them with my pocket knives (benchmade 950 & spyderco endura, 2 high quality folding knives) i was left with a pretty disappointing sharpening job. The edge is terrible, having 2 seperate and uneven bevels in most places (3 & 4 in others). The top of the knife had a different sharpening angle, and the 2 sides of the weren't even. There was a spot that was left ground too a rough grit and the edge at the heel of the blade is not square or even. If they put the same "skill" into sharpening Japanese kitchen knives, you are gonna end up with moderately sharp, but completely disappointing blade. I'll be taking my POCKET knives elsewhere next time, and never will kitchen knives see that store.

Amazing inventory and I was gobsmacked by the level of product knowledge of the employees I talked to. Jackson, the fellow who helped me had even met some of the smiths that made the knives.

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, the only place I'd trust to sharpen a knife! Straight razor sharpening too!

What a gem of a store with friendly and helpful staff. They are very attentive to the client and offer expert opinion and advice on your needs. Chris, the manager, answered all my questions and took as much time as I needed. There was no pressure at all to make the sale. I will be going back at some point and highly recommend this store to anyone looking for a pleasant customer experience. A shout out also goes to Casey from the Calgary store who answered my online questions before I made it out to the Ottawa location. Cheers
