Best Khao Soi I’ve had so far! It is packed with flavour and they’re very generous with the portion sizes. I chose the braised beef one, which is super tender and the texture of the noodles are amazing! Service was also super fast given the popularity of this place even during lunch time
Ordered Goong Moun starter, Tom yum soup with shrimp, Pad thai with chicken, Khao Soi with Braised Beef, Curry Fried Rice with Shrimp (Keto), Khao Neow Gaeng Chicken, and Pad See Ew with Chicken. The food was amazing, but the service wasn't that great. The kitchen was closing at 9.30, and we gave the last order before that. I asked them to provide me a diet coke pop after kitchen closed, and they said they cannot provide it. I mean that doesn't make sense, as they don't need to make the coke. Also, they were eager to send us out after 9.30. Overall, you can go for the food, but don't expect the service to be great.
This was my second time visiting for lunch. Between my friend and I, we ordered the Goung Moun (shrimp filled crispy tofu skin rolls), Koong Ob Woonsen (glass noodle hot pot) and Khao Soi (egg noodles with curry sauce). Once again everything was so delicious. The dishes were spicy and the portions were huge, so we both had leftovers. Service was very prompt, and we were done within an hour. Prices are reasonable- especially the hot pot noodles which was $26 but could easily feed two people as a shared main. They have a nice patio in the front which was nice for taking advantage of the warmer weather. Highly recommend dining here - the Michelin mention is well deserved.
Been meaning to try this place but I'm rarely ever downtown. I had high expectations as I really enjoy Thai food and my partner who's been here before said their food was amazing. I came with two other people and we each got a dish so we can all try different things. I'm surprised that they offer keto options as well which was great.
We made a reservation but still had to wait around 10-15 minutes for our table. We were sat inside and it was packed. The atmosphere felt bustling as it was quite tight inside. They came to ask for our order right after being sat and we grabbed the fish cakes, the mint smoothie, krapow, curry fried rice (keto), and pad see ew. The food came fairly fast and the portions were huge.
I really wanted to love the food but I found it a bit lacking in flavour compared to other Thai places I've been to. I enjoyed the curry rice the most as it had a good balance of flavour to it. As for the other dishes, I've tasted better.
Overall, a bit disappointing as I've heard really good things about this place and maybe we just caught it during a bad time. I wouldn't mind coming again to try their other dishes as well as the Thai iced tea if I'm ever around the area.
The portions are HUGE. The coconut chicken was sooooo good. And the fried rice with fish in it was delicious as well. I've been here for like five times and ordering the exact same dishes. It just never disappoints.
This Thai resto was really amazing! This is the most Authentic thai food we've ever tasted Mind you, we used to lived in Bangkok Thailand for a decade so we are so amazed by the taste! We've been eating and exploring thai foods around Toronto, this is the best ONE in town. My expecations were MET!
My recommendation would be: Pad kah Pao Moo Krop in English: stir fry basil with crispy pork and their OG PAD THAI.
The portions are huuuuuge. I got the pad thai and it was so good! I ate it in two days! (I could pack whatever I didn’t eat while there). The decor is very cute and the wood decorated wall is very pretty. There aren’t many spaces so I believe it can get filled up quickly but when I went (for lunch on the later side) there weren’t many people.
There are limited vegan options - two noodle options and one friend rice option. The vegan pad see ew was really tasty. The spring rolls are not great - would not recommend.
This restaurant is a bit chaotic - we were seated next to the stairs upstairs by the employee station so there was lots of noise and smells from cleaning up dishes. It seems to be a popular spot so it makes sense that they’re trying to maximize seating spots.
Food quantity is generous and I heard the Thai ice tea is really good. Overall, seems to be a bit more of a student spot!
We wanted to try this quaint restaurant with a friend who recommended it as she has been here before. She gave a raving review from her previous visit so I was excited to try their dishes. There was a small line-up outside as the place was quite busy. They had a patio and some art/paintings inside that delighted our senses. We ordered the:
(A) Tod Mun Pla The deep fried spicy mince fish was complemented with peanut plum sauce. It was tasty. The sauce only had a hint of plum which we were hoping to be on the stronger side in terms of taste. The fish cake itself was juicy and had a good portion to them.
(B) Pad See Ew The flat rice noodles, egg, Chinese broccoli, soy sauce with chicken was savoury. It had a distinct taste different from the other Pad See Ew I've had.
(C) Pad Gra Pao - Keto The dish is served with Konjac rice mixed with cauliflower rice, holy basil, onion, chili, fried egg with crispy pork. The component of this dish gave it a nice umami flavour. I wish it had more basil. The crispy pork was a good choice if you're looking for something different to the normal chicken pad gra pao.
(D) Kua Gling - Keto Likewise, the dish is served with Konjac rice mixed with cauliflower rice, dried curry with lemongrass, lime leaves, fried egg with chicken. The lemongrass complements the dried curry in this dish.
(E) Pineapple Mint Smoothie This drink was the highlight of our dinner. It was very refreshing. Definitely recommend this drink!
Overall, the dishes were good but not as great as I hoped to be. I'd still like to come visit again to try out their other dishes.
What a cute, gem of a place nestled in a charming neighbourhood around university. This place will give you a vibe of a shack, such amazing interiors and vibrant colors which lits it up. The food was flavourful and yet not expensive, we tried their spring rolls in starter and for the mains we went for Pad kee Mao and Pad see Ew, this was our first time at this place but we have already made plan to visit soon to try other dishes. The service was quick and top notch.
I've never written a bad review for a restaurant before, but my group had a pretty negative experience here. I made a reservation at 1: 30PM for a large group several days in advance, and the restaurant called around noon the day of our reservation and asked to push the reservation to 1: 45PM, which was fine. We were seated at 1: 45PM, and waited for 15 minutes for someone to come by to take our orders. Several people had planned to order the lunch special, which ended at 2PM. Our server started taking our orders at 2: 02PM, and said they could no longer give us the specials as it was after 2PM. I asked if the server could make an exception, seeing as the restaurant pushed my reservation back and we'd been waiting to place our orders for 15 minutes, but he said no exceptions could be made. I wouldn't have minded if we were late arriving at the restaurant, but seeing as they called last minute to reschedule the reservation AND waited 15 minutes to come talk to us, I was a little peeved. The food was alright, but the experience overall felt very shady.
Food is decent but service can use some improvement. I ordered a mezcal Negroni that tasted nothing like what a Negroni should taste like. I advised the server that I’d like another drink. Her immediate response was “I still have to charge you for this. ” I ordered a Margarita and was brought a Martini instead. Quite disappointing, 2 wrongs didn’t make it right here. Yea, food is okay but there are better Thai options in the City. Work on your service, that’s what differentiates from other restaurants. I wouldn’t go back.
Koh Lipe's menu is full of classic Thai dishes - such as pad thai and massaman curry - and they do an exceptional job of executing them. Everything is just incredibly flavorful and well-made. Their lunch special is an absolute steal too at around $12.
On a warm day, sitting out on the patio is the best spot to be, however, be aware that it can get quite busy, especially during peak hours, and you may have to wait a bit to snag a table.
Had a nice dinner here! They have a large selection of dishes from curries to noodles to rice, etc. Also the service was friendly and incredibly fast despite how busy the restaurant was.
We had: Tod Mun Pla: This was my least favorite dish. I didn’t enjoy the seasoning and the fish patty was very oily. Mango Salad: On it’s own it was very sour, but it went great with the mains, which were heavier and spicy. Large portion. Gua Kling with Minced Pork: My favorite dish we tried! The dry curry pork was perfectly seasoned and the portion was big. Gaeng Kua Moo: The pork ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and flavorful. Mango Sticky Rice: At first I was skeptical of the white chocolate mango shell since it’s not traditional, but I ended up loving it. The sweetness of the chocolate balances out the tangy mango chunks! We devoured this. Thai Milk Tea: This was creamy and not at all watered down. Would have liked a bit more tea flavour though.
Walked in on a Tuesday night, no wait. Food was amazing. Recommend the pineapple chicken curry, comes with a delicious sticky rice that balances the spice. Pad thai was also delicious, noodles were chewy.
Food quality has gone down, not that great. Didn't have a chicken option for the Isalamic noodles and they couldn't even make it work which makes me wonder if the food is pre-made. Khao soi didn't have the authentic golden curry flavour to it. Service was not good, felt rushed. Right when we sat down the first thing the server said to us was "you have 90 minutes to dine". Ok thanks
The food was really really great. We just had an experience where the server kept forgetting to bring our drinks until the end of dinner but other than that, they were friendly and amazing! We had the vegan pad Thai and it was really good. Not too oily! My friend also had the green curry which was really great. I would say everything was a bit on the pricey side but I believe the food was great and I would go again.
Recently visited Koh Lipe Thai for a friend’s birthday dinner celebration and we enjoyed our experience. Initially, we received another table's order, but the staff quickly resolved the situation through promptly taking the mistaken order back to the kitchen. The correct order was brought out within 5 minutes. I was really satisfied by the level of service and efficiency considering the restaurant has three floors and a small patio.
The food was impressive and on par with PAI. I highly recommend the pineapple sticky rice served with spicy chicken and the pork belly. The green Thai tea was very unique and delicious, it was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Between four people, the bill with three mains, one appetizer, one dessert and three Thai teas came to $34 after tax and 18% gratuity which was very affordable for how filling it all was.
Went at a busy time but we were able to get a seat! The staff were very nice and took time to explain the history and tastes of menu options so we knew what go expect, which was amazing. Got curry which was very spicy but delicious! Ambiance was very lively and well decorated.
