It’s really hard to find a place that has my favorite roll (spicy avocado) so when I moved to Newmarket I spent a long time searching through menus. Happily, I found Komachi and I’ve been a loyal customer for many years now. Their bento boxes are really great and an inexpensive option to feed my family on the go. The owners are super sweet too.
Very good for the price. The food was delisious, bento boxes have good amount of meet, rice and veggies, salad and miso soup on a side. The only one thing I would recommend the owners to change is to remove all covid restrictions, as it's been officially lifted, but the restaurant still keeps this vibe, posters and table settings.
Food quality is fresh but very small when it come to individual maki rolls! Price is the same as anywhere else.i don’t recommend you dine in since they’re still not ready or have proper servicing! Ordered a Green dragon and Black dragon roll with two simple appetizers and the lady taking my order said “thats a lot of food is it all for you? ” made me laugh but whatever. There’s better sushi places in town, this place is probably more convenient to pickup or do delivery order but id still wouldnt try again.
Best in town, and probably the original sushi restaurants in town. Their ingredients are always fresh, affordable prices, and the staff are always super nice!
Best sushi ever! I have been coming here for around 10 years and the sushi is always fresh and delicious. The owners are kind people who always get my order right! Value for price is also incredible.
I live in Aurora and have been going to this place for years. It has typically been excellent. Unfortunately the portion size and quality have gone down lately. They had a little price increase recently which was certainly justified and frankly well deserved, but they need to keep the quality and quantity consistent. Will give this another chance, but if it isn't back to the way it was I'll be looking for a new sushi 'go-to'.
Check out the pieces of salmon in this roll. Just because it's not a presentation piece atop rice doesn't mean that you can stuff the garbage in a roll and hope nobody notices. This was basically like the salmon equivalent of gnawing the cartilage off a poor cut of beef.
I had some salmon nigiri as well and the salmon portion was much smaller than I've had in the past. Unfortunately I failed to take a photo of that but I do have a photo of what it was like back when the quantity was good (you can see the pieces were so large they curl under at the ends).
Staff are very courteous, my order is always correct upon pickup, and the value is absolutely outstanding. This isn't some fancy sushi spot that will amplify the perception of the food with meticulous presentation, it's core competencies are good quality and very high value. Yes there are ultimately higher quality options, but not for this price. For perspective, I can get 3 very large, high quality rolls here for under $20, and some outstanding Miso soup to go with that. Conversely I can get 2 smallish and rather poor quality rolls from the grocery store (you know the brand) for the same price; in fact a bit more. If you are lucky enough to be reading this review, and lucky enough to find this place and live local to it, then congratulations to you.
Being a very picky Aurora sushi customer for almost 12 years, I could definitely tell on behalf of my family and myself, as well as on behalf of my family friends referred by us to Komachi sushi that this is the best sushi place in Aurora. I checked many restaurants at lunch time when I worked Downtown Toronto. My family had our favorite place near our home in North York, where we lived many years ago. Obviously, we are very experienced sushi lovers:) There are good restaurants around GTA but in Aurora Komachi sushi is the best choice when you compare price and quality. Quality first of all. My very special thank you, guys, from Anna.:)
The restaurant is wonderful and spacious, the menu was yummy and the rates were very reasonable.rapidly, productive service and very welcoming waiters. Recommended.
BEST sushi in town! Me and my sisters always order from Komachi. Owners are very nice, service is always great and the sushi is excellent. The best we've had and we go everywhere for sushi!
Thank you Komachi for many years of great service & sushi
Disappointed.worst Japanese food. We bought two Bento sets for take out. The salmon was fishy, the pork cutlet was small and dry. The Maki rolls were tiny and very sour (too much vinegar!) We threw out most of them at the end. What a waste of time and money.
This is my favourite sushi place ever! My family always orders from here and it is amazing every time this is our go to spot! The service is wonderful and the food is spectacular for the price. Truly I can not give them enough praise
From the moment you come to this place the personel give you an enjoyable feeling. Very friendly waiters, it is a kind place to go out with friends or with your date.heavenly meals, professional chef de cuisine, comfortable cost and attentive service. Highly recommended.
The best place for sushi! The service is phenomenal and the food is always fresh. Prices are always great as well. They go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied and fed. Will definitely come back for more!
Good price, good bento box. I come here for lunch mostly. Less than $10 you get rice, veggie, springroll, your salmon or pork cutlet or tempura or chicken teriyaki, with sushi, with MIso soup, with salad! The one time I tried donburi, I find it too sweet. Stick with the bento boxes, they are good value. Service is fast.
I used to come here a lot before all the new development happened. Nice to see the prices and service hasn't changed. Small things like making sure you're tea cup is filled deserves a 5+ star. Not to mention that tea is free of charge. Loose leaf = Bonus points
This is one of my favourite places for sushi and other Japanese dishes. The food is good quality and there is an attention to detail. We are regulars and Ming (lunch server) remembers us and or regular orders. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good food at a fair price!
My husband and I went here for lunch. It was a convenient location or else we would have went to Mi-Ne up the street.
I don’t understand the rave reviews to be honest. The price is cheap but you really just get what you pay for (not much.).
We ordered the all day special and a beef bento - it was not enough food to fill our stomach (we’re not even big eaters) and we ended up having to order a third lunch special.
The beef was tasteless - no salt or marinade, the only taste was from the teriyaki sauce.
The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because the fish was fresh and the service was friendly.
My favourite place to eat sushi in Aurora. Price is reasonable, quality of sushi is great, and I really appreciate their try in being more environmentally friendly when ordering takeout. All of the packaging for ordering takeout is pretty much recyclable which is awesome when trying to create less trash:)
If you think this is authentic sushi please go check out Inatei or Aka-Oni. That is real sushi. This is westernized sushi. The variety consists of salmon and salmon and more salmon. The most bland and common piece of sushi available. The komachi tray is $30.for $30 at any true Japanese restaurant it would feed a family. This is a Chinese restaurant NOT Japanese! Do not be fooled.
This is a really small Japanese restaurant that looks to be family run. Their prices are much cheaper then some of the other Japanese restaurants in the area. What I really like about this place is the way they roll their sushi. I find that it is on the smaller side. Other places roll these enormous rolls where they stuff a tonne of ingredients in. I prefer a smaller roll. 1 bite. Instead of using a knife and folk because the rolls are impossible to eat with 1 bite.
The only downside is they don't have a huge variety of fresh fish. But, I will be back for sure.
