Konjiki Ramen (Downtown)

The clam broth ramen is quite unique for ramen as not meat based and one could also switch the meat with tofu nuggets. I also ordered the vegetarian ramen just to try but asked to be without noodles so wouldn't have as much calories! They were very thoughtful and out the ingredients on the side for the vegetarian ramen. The soup broth was a nice blend of mushroom, avocado, cream and lemon.

The portions are kinda small, I ordered beef don (The miso soup Is amazing and I asked them for spicy sauce or chili oil to eat with my meal, and at the end of the bill they charged me 2 dollars for the spicy without telling me anything beforehand. It seems excessive to me that they charge for spicy and that it is 2 dollars.

The service is good, and the waiters are friendly, but the extra charge situation was definitely not pleasant at all.

I enjoy their clam shoyu ramen. Service wasn't the best last time I went. Slow to attend, had to grab someone's attention to place an order, was on the verge of asking for refill on water until they finally came around. Just seemed very unaware.

Worth the wait in line. Largest shrimp/prawn tempura! Looking forward to trying all their ramen flavours.

This is a delicious ramen restaurant based on seafood and chicken broth. This is a very new and delicious ramen restaurant.

Signature clam broth ramen (soup is delicious, rarely do I finish ramen soup, clam + truffle + porcini flavour in good balance. Pork is disappointing, a little dry. Noodle is fine. Overall decent but not hugely impressive

Tendon set with udon and ikura rice (tempura are average. Ikura rice got little ikura and the rice is really disappointing with mediocre sauce. Terrible udon puffy and soggy with little soup, no texture

I really don’t like leaving bad reviews like this but service was atrocious. I had to wait an hour + for my meal and unfortunately it never arrived. We needed to go promptly so I told the server to just cancel my order. He replied that unfortunately I had to pay for it or wait another 5-10 min. They ended up packaging quickly, forgetting some of the items that were supposed to be included in the meal. I attached a picture of my restaurant experience, which is me reheating the food at home the next day. Would not recommend, would not go back. Shame!

I’ve been to Konjiki numerous times before, but wanted to try this location in particular because they offer a special menu dedicated to tempura.

After trying, I have to say this location has to be the worst out of all the Konjiki chains. Upon entering there is a sickly oil smell, I’m guessing from lack of ventilation from deep frying. Food was underwhelming, but I am shocked at how terrible the service was. There was only three tables and three servers were struggling to serve all of us. When we got our food, we didn’t get any cutlery. After waiting a bit, we asked a server for cutlery to which she rolled her eyes at us as if we were inconveniencing her. Very surprising as Konjiki holds themselves to a high standard.

Avoid this location and go the extra mile to the Yorkdale or North York location instead.

Great ramen place, their vegan ramen was delicious and their soup was chock full of umami flavour. Prices reasonable for downtown Toronto.

This place has some really interesting ramen options, like the lobster or Wagyu. The ramen was pretty standard - the meat was a bit lean for my liking but not a huge issue. We also got some fried oyster mushrooms as an app which were really tasty. My one issue is that the place seemed kinda understaffed when we went - they had maybe 2 servers handling like 30 customers plus pickup, and the service was pretty slow as a result.

Tempura was good. But ramen was subpar. Also the price was a bit on the high side. I would have liked to give less than 18% tip specially coz the service was slow.

The tempura really is some of the best in the city, perfectly fried, not greasy, light and crunchy.

I had the smoky pork ramen and my friend had the intense clam broth ramen. The (2) cherry tomatoes were packed with smokiness, however while the pork was savoury, it did not taste smoked at all. Both broths were great, I felt mine was a tad oily - but if you like the creamier / fattier broths then maybe you will like it more.

Service during our seating and order was good, however despite it not being too busy our water cups were not refilled without asking.

Best ramen in Toronto, or even North America, hands down. I’ve been here so many times from Buffalo, and it never disappoints! I always get the smoky black tonkotsu ramen, and if I’m extra hungry I’ll get an appetizer as well. I always leave with a slight stomachache (I think it’s because I end up eating way too quickly), but it’s worth it every time! I’ve been to the downtown, Yonge St, and the Yorkdale Mall locations and they are all high quality so go to whichever is the most convenient.

This restaurant has the setting of an authentic Japanese restaurant, it was homey, packed and the waiters were very hospitable. The food itself was incredible! Worth every penny for the food you get. I definitely recommend this place for any ramen lovers! Am definitely going to visit this place again.

Although the ramen dishes could use a bit more meat, their tonkatsu soup base is super rich and delicious. This location is also connected to Akimitsu Tempura and would also highly recommend getting their tempura if you have the chance. They were large portions that were very crispy and not oily at all, felt lighter than your typical tempuras for sure.

I had the vegetarian ramen. At first I was a little apprehensive to try it and was thinking of going elsewhere as the recipe seemed different with the avocado and arugula. However, this was one of the best vegetarian ramens I’ve ever tried. This is no joke. The broth is super creamy and the flavours of the acorn squash, arugula and corn add this amazing combination that makes your taste buds explode. The noodles are also so fresh and there is just the right amount in the bowl. Prices are very reasonable too! I went on a Wednesday night and it wasn’t too busy at all, although the restaurant is on the smaller side. Highly recommend!

Restaurant is fine, Staffs are nice. But sorry, I didn’t like the food. For me it’s total waste of money.

We stopped by for a quick meal. The ramen broth is delicious and quite unique compared to other ramen shops. We also got the fried mushrooms and that was surprisingly delicious as well. Service is also friendly and quick!

This is my 2nd time visiting & definitely not my last. Probably the best ramen I've had in Toronto.

The noodles texture is unbelievable. It passes the taste test where you want to shove more and more noodles into your mouth. Until you can't fit more. It has a remarkable chew, but soft and silky.

Pork broth is balanced, but if you're looking for a pungent punch to the palate, it may not live up to that style.

The Tokyo style lighter broths - the clam and shoyu are delightful. The balanced flavors shine through.

Tempura has excellent batter flavor and deep fried without greasiness.

I've been to many Ramen places.but this one is special. I normally order the spicy ramen when I go to Ramen restaurants, but this time I went for the Smokey Black Ramen. Also it was hot AF so I felt like a softer meal.

Everything in the bowl had meaning and contributed to a great meal. I was hesitant on the cherry tomatoes, but the two provided are packed with smokey flavour and I was pleasantly surprised.

The broth was easily slurped up and not a drop was left. I kinda wish I got the super size.

If you love ramen, come here.

Very good Ramen and quick! Love the online order option and daily specials. The food was very tasty and the broth excellent. Could have used a touch more spice for my Spicy Red Tonkotsu but that's just my preference and I will note that next time I order. I ordered for my whole team and each of us absolutely loved it from start to finish. Will be back for more!

I walked in, and the place was not busy. There’s about 3 tables with customers. The waiter wanted me to sit on a table beside another customer. I asked to sit next to the empty table so that there can be a bit space between me and the other customer. The waiter was hesitant but agreed. There were leaks from the pipes on the ceiling and I told one of the waitress but she shrugged it off as if it’s normal. I then placed an order. A pork belly and Unagi Don. About 10 mins, the pork belly came and I helped myself. Two customers came in and placed their order. I was surprised that the two customers got their order before I did, so I looked over and noticed that they have the same order that I have (Unagi Don). At this point, I already waiting for more than 30 mins and was upset. I asked the waiter for my bill and paid for the pork belly only. He then said that my order is coming and I answered that I’ve waited long enough. I understand that people make mistakes, if only someone explained that there was a mixup, I would have waited. However, they have made a very hungry customer wait, did not explain the delay, and did not apologize for the service. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Ordered the shoyu ramen which I guess wasn't their specialty. The broth was next to flavorless. The chashu was sous-vide, was tough and had the texture of over boiled pork, and was also flavorless. I wasn't a fan of the texture of the noodles. The prices are a bit higher than average and for that plus the quality of the food it felt like I got ripped off. Probably won't be going back.

Service was good though.

We were super hungry and we stumbled upon this place around 9: 30 pm.
We got gyoza, chicken karraage, downtown ramen, shoyu ramen and spicy chicken, tempura donburi.
Everything was better than the next.
So happy for happy accident.

Update: 4 to 5 star

Recently went for dine in - service was excellent and staff very friendly! I opted for their clam based soup as it seems to be the specialty. While it was delicious, their tonkotsu is really amazing and definitely my go to here. Side orders like pork belly, takoyaki, and gyoza were all excellent.

I'll say it's just at the same level with Ajisen Ramen, just at the pass line of Ramen. It's edible, and it's good for some non-Asians who never been to Japan. At least, their food are fresh and you won't have to worry about your stomach after eating with them. Will I go there for a Ramen treatment? No. Will I go there for a refreshments when all other restaurants are closed at night? Yes.

We got the clam shio ramen and it was really delicious and flavourful. The sous-vide pork was very tender and worked perfectly as a topping. The noodle texture had a nice chew. It didn't feel overally salty with all of the different garnishes. I haven't seen many clam based broth for ramen and highly recommend giving this a try. We did get the supersize option and that felt like a good amount of food so I wonder if the regular size is slightly smaller than other ramen places (not a bad thing in my opinion).

Good quality ramen but not my favourite. The clam broth was definitely a novelty and good to try for a change. We tried the shoyu and tonkotsu, with the latter being too creamy and fishy for my taste, but I did enjoy the shoyu. Their gyozas were really good too! Staff was attentive but we waited a long time to get our food. Overall it was good to try but not my go-to spot for ramen in the city.

An excellent Ramen restaurant that's about as close as it gets to "boutique" ramen that you'd find in Tokyo. While the light shio was apparently more popular, we enjoyed the flavor of the intense shoyu which, in my opinion is more palatable for Canadian tastes. Both versions, however, were more subtle in flavor than what you would normally find in Toronto.

I had their signature clam broth ramen with Mild Shio. It was tasty and flavorful of clam.
Ramen has three different parts in it, porcini paste, basil and onion, and white truffle oil. As a waitress told me, I taste each part of soup first, then mixed them all. It was amazing!

Excellent food. I really enjoyed my meal. Although the menu is slightly different than the location at North York, the food was just as delicious.

The service was quick and fast. Because this restaurant is built in a semi detached former home, it is quite cramped and loud inside when there is a lot of people.

If it is a quiet and calm place you are looking to eat at, this is not your place to go. But nonetheless, the food is amazing and worth the money and time. Your taste buds will thank you.

Visited the restaurant and had ramen yesterday. The ambience and service are wonderful and the taste of ramen was fantastic. My only reservation was the very small portion compared to other ramen restaurants (topping was minimum, very thin 2 slices of meat, and egg is extra). For the base price of $14 before tax, it is a bit overly priced. As for overall value, my choice is still Sansote!

Had the very good, flavorful and interesting clam broth ramen with a perfectly paired chimichurri like sauce on the side and uniquely pickled bamboo shoots. The sous vide pork is a bit of an odd addition. Good noodles. Wish they'd be more thoughtful about the music; loud and off theme.

Place is still amazing but not as good for some reason as the original location. I'm sure they will get up to par. Still 4 stars!

Their veggie Ramen is to die for! I didn't find such good Ramen when I was in Tokyo. 10/10 will go back for sure!

The vegetarian option was terrible! I've definitely had better miso/seaweed broth for an alternative veg option. The Avacado broth is too thick, creamy and heavy. You don't get the same feeling as if you're eating Ramen, it felt more like eating pasta in avacado sauce. If you're vegetarian, save yourself time and go somewhere with better ramen option.

Really great ramen. I got the shoyu clam and it was nothing like I've had before - it's very distinctive yet light. The pork is so tender as well. The service is also very kind and attentive.

Good ramen, good taste and good proportions. I find it tastes better than most but not the best in the city but pretty good.

Lineup was simple.lower section of restaurant was for tempura and upper for ramen. There is an app for reservations and they call to let you know your seat is ready. Bathroom is on top floor. This is not an accessible place.staff were friendly and thoughtful. I asked for two bowls of ramen back to back and they recommended i eat one shio first and then shoyu after so i would not be sated from similar broth. Delicious!

I came here on the recommendation of a fellow foodie friend and I must say, this was an amazing bowl of ramen. This restaurant specializes in their signature clam broth, which is packed with immense clam flavour. I chose the stronger shoyu clam broth, because I love big flavours. They also offer a lighter shio clam broth, which gives a cleaner and purer clam flavour. The broth is light, unlike the heavy and oily broths at most ramen places. Of course, the toppings were fresh and the noodles are hand-made, all together forming a very special ramen experience.i will definitely be returning again for many more bowls and trying many of the other interesting items on their menu!

I don't like the flavor of the mild shio ramen, but the Tamago and Gyoza is great. Not sure if I went to the right restaurant. Because under the same name, they sell ramen upstairs and tempura downstairs. If they are the same restaurant, it's ridiculous that cannot taste the food at the same time.

This place is on a quiet street near Yonge-Dundas TTC station.

We went during the soft opening season, and maybe this affected the quality. We noticed that there was a hiring sign for cooks, so that's already a bad sign. The noodles weren't cooked enough, and so the interior was still stiff and somewhat powdery. The broth was not as flavourful and rich as the one in North York, which I've been at least three times.

Overall, I'd recommend going to the North York location or the Michelin rated one in Japan or another one amongst the many around in Downtown Toronto.

Service is slow. Electronic text messaging for wait list requires you to be there in person to be added to the wait list, which makes no sense. Why do I have to sign up for the wait list at the store and wait there, instead of calling over the phone and come in 20min later when I'm at the top of the wait list? Defeats the whole purpose of electronic text messaging wait list. And this is suppose to be a Michelin star Pedigree restaurant?

It was nice to have a vegetarian option. They have a vegetarian ramen which includes an avocado soup sauce with mushroom and soy milk to give it tasty flavours. The ramen also had toppings of corn, arugula, pumpkin and tofu nuggets. The best part of the ramen was the soup base and the tofu nuggets. I would have requested more nuggets if I had known they would make me drool. They also provided a lemon wedge which they did warn to try it after tasting my soup. It definitely did make a change and still tasted great. Now a huge con. I had gone to this restaurant with my daughter. She did not receive her order at the same time. After about 20 minutes I asked of her order. They advised they had system issues and missed the order. By that time my daughter did not even want to bother anymore as I had finished eating. We asked for the bill. The guests who asked for their bill afterwards us still received their bills before us. Customer service is everything. If you don't have that, it does not matter much how good your food is. *Note in my vegetarian ramen I orderedi had added pork belly which I know now was not needed!

Perhaps my expectations for this Michelin restaurant were too high. The service was great but I wasn't blown away by the food. It might boil down to personal preference, but I wasn't a huge fan of the clam broth. I might try the wagyu ramen - exclusive to the downtown location - on another visit.

The Ramen noodle soup was excellent. The tonkotsu ramen noodles were cooked to the right chewiness, not too soft, not too stiff. The soup tasted quite natural, where the clam flavour is very apparent but there was some bitterness possibly due to over cooking those clams. With the ramen and mini tendon combo was a side of shrimp and vegetable tempura which was great too, lightly crisp and with a wide selection of vegetables, including a shiitake mushroom and shrimp. We also had the Monday special which was the wagyu & angus beef shoyu ramen and the flavour of that broth was quite meaty, from all that beef. Side note from the experience was that the service to serve the noodles was slow as it seems they wait to collect all the orders from the tables then batch process all the requests. Also, bring cash because they do not have a payment machine.

I had classic tonkutsu and karage, ramen was too fat and not very flavorful. Space is very small and it’s too hot inside because of the kitchen. I will not go back) kinton and sansatei much better for me

Excellent food and amazing service! The mild shio clam broth ramen and the ten don combo ($20) were delicious.

The ramen broth was rich and you could definitely taste the clam in the broth. The ten don was also delicious and came with assorted seafood and veggies (squid, salmon, shrimp, eggplant, and shishito pepper) fried to perfection.

The seating is very limited so definitely go earlier to guarantee a spot. Or alternatively, you can just put your name down in their system and they’ll give you a call whenever your table is available.

No miso ramen, no black tonkotsu, no garlic oil even as side, ramen pork slices are very very thin. Karrage comes with spicy wassabi mayo. Green tea is really good and they refill it for free. My stomach doesn’t feel good after their tonkotsu (too fatty, i guess).

Waiters are friendly and very polite. The food was quick to arrive. I appreciated that we could put our name on the list directly through their device, which took 1 minute. In other restaurants there can be a line even just to speak with a host.

We had fried chicken, it was very juicy and not too greasy. It was served with a wasabi mayonnaise, first time I tried it and I love it!

Then we got the wagyu beef ramen. I don’t think I ever tasted ramen with such a complex and aromatic broth. It was simply amazing! I enjoyed every single bite and slurp of it. I wish they would serve it every day! I will definitively come back and probably become a regular! Konjiki definitively deserved its Michelin star.
