A small place to grab a quick meal. Best to pick up even though they have a couple tables. The staff was helpful. The quality of the koththu seemed to have deteriorated over time and lost consostency. The place definitely used to do a better job.

DELICIOUS AND AUTHENTIC! I love this place for authentic kothu roti, and a fun twist on items like their butter chicken kothu roti. The owner/chef is a sweetheart! Their food is authentic, spicy if you want it to be! Ive had their biryani and enjoy that as well. I have ordered from here about 4 times in the past year and its always fresh.

Amazing Indian/Sri Lankan food right in downtown Ottawa. Super close to uOttawa. Great menu and very good portion sizes. The food is also affordable. Can buy a Walk in combo for almost less than 10 bucks! The older gentleman working their is very funny and kind. He always provides great suggestions.

OMG, ONE OF OTTAWAS BEST KEPT SECRETS.

The food that we had last night was epic.

Price, flavor and service. From a montrealers perspective I wish Ottawa had more hidden gems like this.

I will be back sooooo much more to try. Thank you again for a wonderful meal

Not a safe place to eat, the old man try to kill me in February 2022.
I don't want to give a bad review because I don't want to destroy their business. For everyone safety I would like to share my experience in this location. Every time when I see this picture, I thank God I'm still alive, I thank God that I didn't swallow 1 inch of nail tool in my stomach while eating the Dosa.

Every time when I see the picture of tool nail in my Dosa my hair stands up and my stomach gets sick. I came here once, the Dosa was really really good, so decided to came back in February 2022. The old man was doing the Dosa for me.

After eating 3 bites, I saw the tool nail inside the Dosa, so I showed it to the old man, the old man told me that we never have that nail, it's not our nail. I was so angry that I don't even know what to say, I didn't say a word. The old man think I would eat a big bite.his plan was not successful.

I really wish he would did it to another bad customer and the bad customer would show him a lesson.
The old man should have thanks to me, he's very lucky that I didn't call the police, the Ministry of Health and the media right away.

As a fellow Sri Lankan I'm all about supporting sri lankan businesses. This definitely wasn't the best food I've had but also not the worst. I ordered the mutton kothu which was a tad too salty but otherwise was okay. The deviled chicken was also not bad and isn't as hot as I was expecting. The mutton rolls were a let down, as it was way too much bread. I would not order them. Portion sizes were good and the service was very courteous. Definitely mom and pop vibes here.

Got Chicken kothu rotti and Sambar vada. Kothu rotti was good and spicy. Sambar vada was different from expected. It's hot inside and won't recommend for dine in. Only street parking.

Very good and tasty (chicken Kothu Rotti, Shrimp Curry, deviled fish, mutton kothu rotti, beef, squid curry), we've gone there twice in 3 days!

I lived in Sri Lanka and was craving kottu and found this place. The vegetable kottu was extremely delicious and brought back good memories. Will be back to try the string hoppers next!

If I lived closer, I'd be getting it more often. One of my favourite hole in the wall spots in the city.

Excellent string hoppers kothu and kingfish curry, with the most delicious condiments: pol sambol and seeni sambol. At a time where we are all enjoined to remain at home, this was almost like being back on the resplendent isle of Sri Lanka.

Uber Eats experience. Mutton kothu rotti was a disaster, definitely do not recommend that dish. Hardly any meat!
Chicken Thali was decent.

Tried this place for the first and absolutely loved it! Hole in the wall kinda vibes.a must try! Go for the spicy option if you enjoy it ;)

I go here for a more "authentic" Sri Lankan food experience! Kothu roti and mutton rolls are what I'd highly recommend. They have the lunch combos with rice and a variety of curries which I'd highly recommend if you want the true Sri Lankan food experience!

Never tasted a worst chicken fried rice in my life. Brinjal and potato in a fried rice? I think they tried to make sambar rice. So horrible.

Dosa with no salt in it.

Food is so so so delicious? Better than all the other Sri lankan stores in Brampton and Toronto. Highly recommend for all Sri Lankan spicy food lovers

Recommended for srilankan people to try kottu roti, Very delicious food, we got one beef kotthu roti and chicken biryani so good, chicken biriyani comes with an egg,

Great experience ordering from uber eats - butter chicken kothu rotti was a very generous portion (awesome for value) and so tasty! One portion is like 4 meals for me! The vegetable samosas came with a sauce and were also tasty. Highly recommend for quick Indian/Sri Lankan specialties and convenience.

A simple, no-frills family run business. It is mostly a take-out place but has three tables and a few chairs. The food is very economical, very ideal for students.

The kothu rotti was spicy and yummy. Sambar vada and dosa items were average. The curry dishes were a bit oily than necessary.

Highly disappointed, first the place was smelling full of spices which made us very uncomfortable to sit there. We ordered one masala dosa and one chicken Kothu. Dosa was absolutely tasteless with no salt and the batter was too thick. Kothu was just ok.

Unpretentious little restaurant ideal for takeout. The owners are very friendly and happy to answer all your questions. The kothu roti is very good and priced fairly. Some of the curry recipes have been modified to suit the Western clientele (i.e. Sugar in the string bean curry) but overall still good. Will be going back to try everything on the menu!

Just moved from Toronto to Ottawa and I have been missing some good sri-lankan home cooked meals. Went to Kothu Rotti store and picked up Shrimp Kothu. Really delicious and so good! I enjoyed the food and the quality was great. I have some leftovers for tomorrow. Will definitely come back and again and try some other dishes!

This mom and pop shop is unassuming but the food is delicious. My partner and I default here when we want to eat out. The portions are very generous and the prices are extremely affordable. We share a combo three (two meat curries and 3 vegetable curries with rice for $13) and we're both stuffed. Everything is made from scratch. I recommend the lentils and the green beans! The restaurant is run by a lovely couple who work very hard to make great food. I tell all my friends to give it a try. Although it's not really catering to the "eat in" crowd, it is easily one of our favourite places to go in Ottawa. It's quick, affordable, filling and home-made. A great find!

Excellent spicy mutton dishes which can be hard to find here in Ottawa.

Ask for 'MILD' Biryani or Kothu rotti if you are less adventurous.

The BEST vegetarian thali I have eaten and one of THE best curries I've had in Canada! And only $25 for all this amazingness! The owner was delightful and the food prepared fresh and quickly. This place is the unsung hero of Ottawa! Go here for delicious curry! I wish this little gem was where I live ️

While living in Toronto back in 2016, I tried kothu roti for the first time, and it was amazing! When I got back to Ottawa, I discovered this little place on Dalhousie Street downtown that makes great kothu roti. It's a takeout kind of set-up and I think it's family owned. The staff are very friendly and the kothu is worth it. I recommend picking some up and sharing it with friends - they will thank you! I'm surprised more people don't know about this food, because it really is great.
