I really enjoy eating in the restaurant but we decided to get take out for the third time today. The portions were smaller than ever. Generally more generous when eating in. We ordered 2 garlic Nan and it was completely burned and charred. We ordered 2 soups. The tomatoe soup was delicious. The traditional Ramsam was a huge disappointment. I have ordered many times. Unlike the other times the soup was always hearty with ingredients. This was just mediocre broth. Will we go back? Well there are many options in the city. I would.like to think so but I would need a guarantee it would be better.
Lovely little restaurant with a nice interior. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was fantastic (we tried the dosas, chicken 65, butter chicken and garlic naan).
We had a delightful evening at Kothur Indian Cuisine. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, showcasing traditional Indian cooking techniques and presentation styles. The service was top-notch, and the staff went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable. The ambiance and lighting were exactly what we would expect from a fantastic restaurant, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that enhanced our overall enjoyment of the evening.
Have been a regular, dining in and UE since last 3-4 years, food and taste is always on point. Kothur has never disappointed in terms of taste and flavour, always impeccable. My 6 y.o. Loves paneer kadai, koftas and garlic naan and so do we. Paneer tikka sizzler is a great addition too to the menu.
Very nice restaurant in terms of staff behaviour and food, I recommend the chicken biryani. The ambience is so nice and the manager was so friendly. They served my order on time and were hot. Had a couple of beers to relieve myself off work pressure and this place really lifted up my mood.
The food was served piping hot. I was so moved by the service. Worth for the penny that you pay. They also catered to some specific requirements, definitely coming back again. Special mention to staff, keep up the great service team.
Last night I went to this Restaurant with my friends. They have good customer service and serving tasty food. The food items which ordered are Chicken Manchurian Goat karahi Dosa
I order from this restaurant a lot through Skip, and the food is delicious, but today a mango lassi and a rasam soup were missing, and it's seriously annoying that someone can't pack the items accurately for Skip orders. I had to reorder it again.
New chef started this week & cannot make Dosa. It was tough and starchy, but worst is suddenly changed batter recipe to make sweet. Also argued it’s the same Dosa- not respectful. After many years we look another dosa place, maybe the new one on Jane. Sorry and thank for your services
Excellent Indian Food. Went here with my friends to give a treat. Everything was perfect. Must try their Goat Biryani. Service was excellent. Will visit again for sure. ~ Vasanth.
The butter chicken is delicious and you can customize the spicy-ness. Takeout is great but when you dine in they have the most beautiful serving dishes. Little copper pots that are nice and full.
Excellent Indian restaurant with lots of amazing vegan options. They even, on their own, prepared our dishes with separate pans and utensils. Very much appreciated! We will be coming again.
I wish I had come to this place earlier, it has such good south Indian food!
We ordered the kothur veg platter and chicken 65 for starters And both were great. The kothur veg platter had a samosa, some aloo tikkis, pakoras and vadas and is a must try. Chicken 65 was crispy and good, really liked it.
For mains, we got kothur chicken curry, garlic Naan, a South Indian paratha and mysore masala dosa. We also ordered a madras coffee.
I have my go-tos for Indian in the area but decided to try Kothur and have to say it's taken the top spot. I benchmark an Indian place based on their butter chicken and this one slaps! My fam can't handle spice for beans so I ordered everything mild and it was still amazingly flavourful. The Channa Masala was delicious, and I especially liked the way the chickpeas were cooked. See you next week Kothur
Excellent food and excellent service. We were here for Summerlicious and highly recommend. The portions were good and we were given more options than shown on the website.
Amazing place, the food at this place has such unique flavours, we tried their medu vada as a starter and believe me I’ve not eaten such good sambhar in Toronto, the consistency, the flavours & the spices were just perfect. For the mains we went with traditional chettinad chicken which was too too good and their chicken dum biryani is to die for. The service was great too and overall very well priced.
One of the best places to eat Indian food. We ordered masala dosa for my little one, and chicken tikka and naan for us. Good portion size, good taste, amazing service, clean and over all I am pretty happy!
Delicious Summerlicious first time experience! Very welcoming & hospitable…highly recommend samosas, onion bhaji for appetizers, lamb curries & all bread …. Had mango ginger ice cream & hubby had gulab jamun for dessert……they are the real deal. Thank you Amal!
This restaurant has become our go-to Indian Restaurant. Food is always super tasty, portions are very generous and service is always friendly. Be pacient as they take their time to cook your food, but the ambiance and service is great. (sorry no photos, but it was delicious and well presented)
Delicious food if you are looking for proper taste of indian food and want to try south indian food this is the place. Affordable prices and I loved the taste service is good. Perfect place for a weekend dineout.
Came to try out their Summerlicious lunch, excellent quality and service. Garlic butter naan is lit. Everything taste so fresh and nicely spiced. Highly recommended.
From a regular customer - these guys are wonderful, service is excellent, food is excellent, dining in experience was also one of the best I've had.really recommend eating here.
Amazing! Absolutely fantastic food, service, atmosphere! We’ve ordered multiple dishes and everything was so so yummy. My mom and few friends were trying Indian cuisine for the first time and they loved it. Lamb chops, shrimps, chicken tikka masala, naan bread, everything ️ We will definitely come back and order more.
I had the chicken biryani, paneer makhani, garlic naan for dinner and ras malai for dessert.
Food: Chicken biryani was so tasty and flavourful. It had cardamom and star anise in it so really good and expensive ingredients so I thought the prices were justified. The paneer makhani was flavourful as well. We got medium spicy and it was the perfect amount of spice.
Con: The ras malai wasn’t cold and there was no pistachios in it which it traditionally should have. It wasn’t the greatest.
Atmosphere: The layout of the restaurant is really nice. It’s clean and modern and lit to the right amount.
Con: The servers aren’t too many so they are extremely busy and it took a while to get our ras malai.
I would definitely order here again and try the other dishes.
Kothur is my go to for Indian cuisine. Highly recommend the Gobi Manchurian to start. Nice atmosphere compliments the wonderful dishes perfectly. Highly recommended
Great place for lunch or dinner. Take out or eat in. Our favourite Indian restaurant. Generous and affordable lunch special with a huge range of choices. Great staff. Pleasant medium sized dining room. Not over the top decor. Just right for the neighborhood restaurant that it is.
2022 Update - Have continued to order from here throughout the pandemic and this has been a solid dining experience for us. We stick to the lamb dishes because they are exceptionally tasty, lemon rice is excellent as well, the quality and portions have certainly improved in the long run. Just upgraded my review to 5 stars.
Great little place on the western part of Lakeshore run by a family. The shop is currently a bit hard to find because it is hidden by fences installed by the contractor doing water main construction. The food we ordered from here, naan, two chicken dishes and dosas were vere flavourful. The two chicken dishes seemed quite similar and weren't labelled as per the spice level (we ordered spicy and medium which were more or less the same), but all of the food was quite good and the fact that they let us order for pickup 30 mins before closing time was impressive.
Love this place! Lamb Kothur is so delicious and one of my favorite dishes! Butter chicken is also great! All the staff is amazing but Omar is the best! He is very hospitable and will always recommend the great options on the menu. Me and my girlfriend, coming for lunch here a lot as its close to our work and so yummy! Special Thanks to the chef!
Worst experience No customer service and the guy who worked on September 13 in evening at 8pm has no sense of speaking and uses abusing language Worst Indian restaurant
This Indian restaurant my favorite-the service, the food, the atmosphere, everything is just amazing! Also the best Naan garlic bread, can just live off that whole day! Paneer makhini is another favorite and I just can never get enough! Omar is so considerate and always there for you, treating you so special! Thank you for having this place in Toronto! Me and my friend are so grateful as this place is next to our clinic we work in. Would recommend it in a heart beat!
I don't know what's going on with this restaurant lately. Their food used to be good and decently priced. Now they keep raising the price with the overall food quality going down.
First good Indian restaurant I've come across since moving here 2 months ago. Good food, and not swimming in oil like all the other places. This will be the first Indian restaurant I'll order from again.
Best Indian food in South Etobicoke. The chefs and the staffs are very friendly. The server girl is very courteous, great service and helped us with our entire order. The food was AMAZINGG. Will definitely go again
The staff are very welcoming here, even if there was busy schedule in the restaurant. Though we waited for some we got best customer service. Today we ordered chicken kurma and chicken chettinadu and worth the price
This is our go to place for Indian food. Very high quality food with amazing flavours. Consistently does not disappoint. We are lucky to have this place in the area!
I prefer this venue very much.there is a friendly ambiance. The kitcen is very tasty.the service is dynamic and the stuff is courteous. The pay is satisfactory. I definitely recommend.
Pathetic experience here today. Ordered a Lunch Menu and Dosa for pick up. Got my food and came home only to realise there is no naan which was supposed to be part of the Lunch Menu. Called them and their response- Sorry Sir we forgot to keep it. Take an extra next time. Funny thing is I ordered the lunch around 11AM. I was the only customer at that time. Still they managed to mess up. Anyways I said Chuck it and started eating. Only 3-4 bites later I find the disgusting thing in my food. A mosquito in the coconut chutney! I got so doubtful about the quality that I threw out all the items in trash. I can’t believe how can they be so negligent about their quality and food safety. Again, pathetic.
Great tasty dishes, great naan. Whenever I'm in the area, i always order 2 dinners size meals and a rice dish for my family. Plenty to go around and extra.
Absolutely delicious! We ordered the butter chicken, palak paneer, garlic naan, steamed rice, mango shake and mango lassi. Everything was perfect with just the right amount of spice. Will absolutely return.
The food is great. I tried the vegetarian option and it was amazing. The customer service is top notch. I wanted the spice level in the curry that was served to me and they were more than happy to change it.
The Rasam is delicious. Dosas, curries, biryanis be it veg or meat, have always been flavourful & never skimped on portion sizes. Been here multiple times and never once dissatisfied.
The place could feel a bit small for some but not a major issue for me. The service is good and prices are fair for the food they serve.
Amazing food and service! Chicken kothur is my ultimate favorite, tried the lamb biryani today and it was really good. The young lady in front miss Vinni guided us well with the menu.
Came in for lunch with my partner. The portions were very generous for 10.99 and the service was great! The Malai Chicken Kothur was excellent as was the FRESH naan!
I LOVE this place. I usually order through SkipTheDishes but I’ve gone in a few times and it’s just amazingly fresh and authentic. I can’t find Malai Kofta many places but I think theirs may have ruined me for all others.
Great food, great taste! Hospitality by the staff and chef is amazing! If looking for best Indian food in the vicinity Kothur Indian Cuisine is the place.
Updated review: I really like this place but unfortunately my order of biryani thru SkipTheDishes had plastic in it. Like a piece of plastic from a rice bag or something. We will not be returning.
The naan was so good and so is the biryani. I also tried the masala dosa which I would not get again (it was a little too plain for my liking) but I would definitely come back and try other things on the menu.
We loved the food. The paneer pakora, paneer tikka masala, onion kulcha everything was delicious and mouthwatering except the dhal fry. The dal lacked spices even basic soices like salt, pepper, etc. So dal was a big NO for all of us. The rest everything was good. The location is very small with CALL options available for the servers. The service is mediocre. Unless we ring the bell, no one comes to actually come and check on the customers.
The price level is not very high too. We ordered desserts but clearly told the server to serve the desserts once the food is ober but she brought them while we were still eating our dinner which was a kick back to the overall experience. We ordered gulab jamun with ice cream and because she brought the dessert before the meal was even finished the gulab jamuns were ice cold cuz they were dipped in icecream and the icecream was melted. Such a disappointment to the overall good experience we were having.
So deducting 1 star only for the dessert disaster otherwise this establishment would ve received 5 complete stars from me.
Tip: next time please listen when the customer needs dessert. Thanks
I ordered tandoori fish. Taste is meh compared to other high end restaurants like Avani, Nirvana Bombay bhel. Just paid $20 for 4 small chunks of salmon. Salmon is too oily to use for fish tikka because the paste doesnt stick well.
Not really impressed. Tadka restaurant does salmon a dollar cheaper but twice the qty just as good
I ordered lunch special, and the lady suggested for take-away since they were closing in 15 mins. After getting home, I found the styrofoam container that contained rice was broken and frazzled from the inside. Moreover the veg pakora was just placed on top of the container without any packaging. I was very disappointed with the packaging, although food tasted fine
Limited options for vegetarians but I've been here 2-3 times. Love their paneer kothur. Once when asked to make it hot, they added a ton of green chillies which isn't the right way to do it. Even a novice knows, hot indian curry is more than just chillies. I'd say try it once, but it can't be a go to place everytime.
We will serve Dosa only if you dine in.we will not prepare dosa for takeout orders. Question: why do you differentiate between customers who dine in and who want to enjoy your restaurant food at home?
Indian cuisine is my comfort food. I've had it all over the city, and even in India. In Toronto, Kothur is hands down my favourite. The flavours are authentic, the food is fresh, and the prices are right. At other Indian restaurants, it seems like they use the same base sauce for most of the dishes and the dishes tend to be overly greasy, but not at Kothur; each dish (I've tried them all) has it's own distinct flavour, and you can tell it was made by someone who knows exactly what they are doing. I have been going to Kothur for years, both dine-in and take-out, and have never had a bad experience.not even once. If you are in the mood for Indian, look no further - Kothur is where it's at.
Very good Indian food right on the West end of lakeshore! The service is very good and the food is spot on! The curry dishes have the right amount of spice which can satisfy any tastes buds!
This place is awesome. Food was great! Just that right amount of heat and lots of flavour. There was a live singer playing acoustic guitar but not loud enough that you couldn't talk.
Nothing you can do now. Not expecting such small portions and zero white rice with it. A bowl of curry came with nothing else. Thats way too expensive for just that. The curry was 3 star at best. All together I'll give you a 1.
I have no idea why someone gave 4.1 review but that’s what I was welcomed to. Just horrible! Unwashed fork and food spilled over table candle. I asked the waiter what do you have for South Indian food and turned out only one which was menduwada. And when they got served it was with a single slice of carrot and a cucumber. Like why? Who eats that way? And a single slice? Might just not offer it. The floor was super sticky and it was just gross to dine. Just horrible experience! I would never recommend to anyone!
We tried three dishes with medium spice level here - butter chicken, lamb with saag (spinach) and Madras lamb. Everything was really tasty. The garlic roti was really different than what I've had before and in a good way. The lady serving us was really sweet too and explained things well. The ONLY thing missing for us was onions on the side which is staple with Indian food. We were told that our request could not be accommodated. However, we enjoyed our time at this simple place and hope to visit again sometime.
My friend and met here this evening and shared a delicious meal. Our server was both friendly and helpful when making recommendations on what we should try as it was our first experience. We loved the butter chicken, vegetable biryani and garlic naan. I wish I took pictures but we were too distracted by the smell of the wonderful food.
This restaurant has one of the best Indian food in Toronto. The service is exceptional. The spices in the curries are unique. I have never tasted these spices before. On Saturday nights, there is live music, which makes the dining experience even better. The Indian curries, South Indian mix, biryanis, and appetizers are very tasty. My wife and I are regular customers. Try the Kothur spiced curry!
