I have been coming here for over a decade! If you come here to grab lunch, be sure to expect a lineup. I wish they were open on Sunday's like before. The classic BBQ and Roast pork box with extra Ginger/Onion sauce is a fan favorite. The roast pork skin is so crispy! The duck and BBQ chicken are also excellent options if you don't want pork.
I visited the restaurant on December 4th and purchased a meal around 3: 30 PM.
Unfortunately, I got diarrea afterwards. This was the only food I ate whole day, so it was definitely the cause. This incident raises concerns for me about the food's safety and handling practices. I believe it's important for potential customers to be aware of this experience
Delicious food and the customer service is great. The sisters are super nice and today I ordered the wrong sauce and she just let me have it for free. I've had a few experiences where they don't squander over small amounts of money and they give me what I ask for (the correct amount) unlike a few other BBQ shops in the area
Great place with some tasty BBQ meats. The only complaint is for all the flies flying around inside, but I guess that's what happens when you leave the door open.
I have been visiting this restaurant for years. Very friendly people, good BBQ dishes with good price. It is a place for a quick lunch or dinner or just a simple Hong Kong BBQ night:) You always stop by for an authentic taste:) (pictures were taken when we already had several bites)
Take-out counter with a few spots to sit so you can enjoy some of the best BBQ I've had in the GTA. I'll be back to try their other items with a repeat of the. Cash only so bring your gwop.
I've been coming here since my high school days and the quality has never dropped. I always order the split combo bbq pork / roasted the skin is so crispy. Don't forget to order the tofu box it goes well with the combo.
Roasted pork should be the signature of this merchant. It is very tasty, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It is highly recommended, followed by barbecued pork. Duck food is not recommended.
Kum Hong understands how to serve the desires of our people, all of those in Richmond Hill. For me it is always barbeque pork or other meats alone. I learn from the graceful preparation chef how much will serve my needs by offering my question. Thankyou.
A Richmond Hill staple for over 2 decades (maybe longer; i havent been alive long enough to know). Love getting the basic roast and bbq pork on rice combo for lunch. I've sampled all their proteins at some point but just stick with the staple roast and bbq.
They have good curry squid and fried tofu as well, but usually i just stop in for the lunch box. Inflation really hit hard as i recall paying 4.95 for a small box when i was in high school but that wont stop me.maybe when it gets to $16 a box i'll start getting wary.
Only gripe/nuisance is how popular they are.if you show up during peak lunch time, you can spend quite a bit of time in line.
Steamed tofu goes hard also make sure to get the ginger and green onion sauce not sure if I could call this vegan option but pretty close. There’s another sauce used that I think is derived from animal broth.
Small family run Chinese bbq shop that's been around for a long time. This is the best tasting Chinese bbq I have ever tried. No frills, simple, fairly priced. Any of the options are great: BBQ pork, Duck, roasted pork, sausage. There's always a line so try and go during off hours. See you in line!
Hands down the best BBQ place I have been to, The ginger sauce is just amazing and you really can't go wrong with anything but you won't be disappointed no matter what you decide upon.
I love the BBQ here. Their roasted pork is amazing (crispy skin) and their See Yao Guy is great as is the Char Siu. Despite what people have said, I find the staff friendly and accommodating. Plus they indulge me and smile when I try out my very primitive Cantonese. Highly recommended.
Incredibly disappointed with the decline in quality of this place. I cannot come here anymore or recommend it to others. On multiple occasions the gentleman cutting the meat will pass off old dry rancid scrap pieces of meat, blobs of fat, and bones hidden at the bottom of your container. Completely inedible. Please do the right thing and THROW IT AWAY! Don't pass it off and sell it to an unknowing customer.it's not right!
DISHONEST BUSINESS! They asked if I was ok if they put two items together (which is fine to me for them to save a box) but charged me by the weight for the more expensive item. Also cut way more than I asked to sell more. WILL NOT BE RETURNING.
If you want good quality roasted BBQ food, go somewhere else. We got roasted duck here for the first time and it wasn't good. The meat was not juicy, and doesn't have that roasted duck taste. The meat tastes like it's old and it seems like they add more sauce to compensate for the quality of the meat? I'm not sure if this is their usual quality of duck or if they just take advantage of newer, young looking customers as they wouldn't know any better, but I won't be returning here again. If you want good tasty duck, go to Leslie and 16th: Excellent BBQ House.
Be careful of these perfect rating reviews. We all know perfect Chinese restaurants do not exist. I have a nasty experience with them selling me a rancid roasted duck. The colour of the meat was totally off, not fresh and they knew it and still sold it to me. The lady cutting the duck was amateur with her skills. The lady cashier didn’t give me my change back. How does this woman assume I don’t want my change back?
Knowingly cooking and then serving rancid meat shows the level of cleanliness they operate with in the back. I would not trust them with the food I put in my mouth.
There’s a reason I’ve never been recommended this place by family or friends and I’ve been eating Chinese roasted duck all my life here.
My favourite go-to Chinese BBQ! Great value and quick service. Just make sure to go a few hours before closing time, you'll get better pieces/cuts (especially for the roast pork!). As a small eater, I like getting the large rice combo (BBQ pork + roast pork) so I can enjoy the rest the next day:)
If you like Chinese bbq this is one of the best in the city. This is a small takeout restaurant with only one or two tables. The menu consists primarily of Chicken Duck and Pork. I went for the duck and soy chicken combo on rice. The soy based sauce on the rice adds a salty sweetness accompanied by the ginger garlic sauce gives the rice a great kick. Great lunch pickup suggest you arrive early as the line goes out the door.
The absolutely best BBQ meat store I have ever ordered from. The two ladies are extremely nice and accommodating. The roast pork is crisp and flavourful. The BBQ pork melts in your mouth. The duck and chicken are perfectly marinated. The tofu is phenomenal. I have been ordering from this store for over 15 years, and still buy from them weekly.
The lady gave us so little meat today she cut them so tiny and so thin and it’s just not satisfying at all.it’s usually three times more.and half of mine was just big chunks of duck bones.by the time I finished my meat I still have so much rice left.even the ginger was reduced half of its regular size. Still hungry: (What happened, Kum Hong? I want my meaty meat.
Great quality meat. Close to highway. A small table and two countertops are available for eating. I would recommend to only takeout with meat. They offer rice options but it's very overpriced compared to the amount of meat given in a meat only order.
A lady and a guy was preparing food but it’s pretty slow. One order of Pork tongue and kidney mix comes to about $12 after tax. Tofu is not that flavourful.
The best bbq duck and pork & roast duck and pork. Don't know what that green stuff is that they put on the side, but wow is it ever good. Bring cash because they don't take plastic
This is by far the best BBQ pork place I had so far. The fat amount is just right, and seasoning is perfect, not too salty like other places. Please be prepared for long line up. They work a bit slow cause they do spend time on plating. 0.5 star deducted, because they do NOT provide wood chopsticks, so no matter dine in or take out u can only get plastic fork and spoon, which is a bit challenging to devour the taste BBQ pork.another 0.5 star deducted because the BBQ pork is COLD. Not even luke warm. Had a quick bite in car and was disappointed. But when I warm them up at home in oven, it tastes awesome!
We enjoy to go out. Last night we visited this delicious restaurant which we didn’t know before. We spent a beautiful evening there with first-rate dishes and an experienced stuff and a professional cook. We added this restaurant in our phone list and we shall surely return very soon. Highly recommended.
Love this place. This is the best place for roasted pork and BBQ pork. The portion sizes are good and they are a good value for your money. The ginger sauce is good too. Be sure to get here early because they do run out every now and then. The place is small with a small seating area. There is usually a line up but it goes quickly and it's worth the wait. There is no bathroom. Beware they only take cash but there are banks near by and atm machines. I highly recommend this place.
You are not coming to this place for its services. The lineups are long, terribly rude customer services, but you kept on coming back for its delicious food. For $8.50, you can two types of meat and rice. There are only a few seats in the restaurant, so it’s mainly a take out spot.
Great food, good value. But there is only 1 queue, so even a short line takes a while. Prepare to wait 3 minutes per person, and lines of 5+ are very common during lunch time between 12-2pm.
Its a simple thing, but food handling standards is bad. They use the same cutlery for all meats. Lady who handles money (cash only fyi) also handles your rice. Not sanitary
