Kumon Math & Reading Centre

The Kumon team worked really hard to improve my son's educational experience. I've seen a huge change and boost in my son's confidence. The staff are really pleasant. I strongly advise any parents or children searching for solid educational help to visit this centre.

A wonderful learning environment. Staff are encouraging and excellent at tracking my childrens' development, as well as being open about other areas of practise. Riverdale has a fantastic Kumon Center.

As a student, Kumon really helped me through school and during the pandemic. It definitely furthered my knowledge in math by teaching me better strategies and habits. Highly recommended

As someone who has been to Kumon for 10 years in math, I can say that math is one of my strongest subjects in school and has helped me greatly. It might be hard but it is worth it in the end.

Been attending this place since 2014 has helped me to improve as a student in math and helped me my ability to learn as a self learning student. The instructors and assistants are really nice and helping!

Finished the math program so I was a student before.
Before I took kumon I wasn't good at math, after starting Kumon I started seeing progress in how I was getting better. The work sheets they gave me started becoming easier in helping me calculate things in my head (I even had trouble with the most basic of problems so this really helped). As I moved up grades in school it really helped me alot, eventually I was at grade level and then above it and when we eventually got to those lessons in school it helped that I knew the material already so I was basically done the school work faster. The place to do work is calm and easy to learn in and honestly if you just focus on the classwork you get in and out pretty fast.

My girls have been in kumon for about two three years now and has helped them a lot in there Math. Esther is a great!

Previously completed the math program and am very grateful I did. It provided numerous advantages and has prepared me for elementary and highchool mathematics. The program was also flexible - able to work at my own pace and timeline. Owners and staff are also friendly and the centre is clean and organized. Highly recommend!

I've completed the Kumon math program and I'm really happy I did. With helpful guidance from instructors and assistants, I was extremely well prepared going into elementary and high school. It also taught me the importance of self-discipline and hard work. If you want to get ahead of your peers and improve your math skills I highly recommend coming here.

As a person who had to immigrate between countries at an older age, I had numerous difficulties with the language which made me struggle with all of my classes at school. At a point, I had given up and considered my academic future to be over, and lost hope in getting to any college or university. However, after a person referenced Kumon to my parents, I was very hesitant to go as I knew that my academic abilities back then were below my grade level by many years. However, when I first met the instructor Rudi, he was very welcoming, and what I liked most is that he started assessing me from the beginning which made me both more comfortable as well as it made me realize that I did not have a good foundation in early mathematics which if not mastered, upper years of mathematics will be almost impossible to complete. After I signed up, I started progressing from doing addition, multiplication, and division, all the way until upper calculus topics such as integration by parts, and convergence tests. Not only did my confidence at school increase tremendously, but my grades went from being the lowest in the class to being ranked 4th out of my entire high school. Not only this, but the real reward of being a Kumon student arrived when I got accepted into University of Toronto's Engineering Science program, as well as Mechanical Engineering at Waterloo, which was a tremendous surprise to me as I remembered the time I came close to dropping out of school. After going into university, I realized that succeeding in it did not only depend on academic knowledge, but also the learning strategies which Kumon had taught me during my time there. At Kumon, the instructor Rudi tries his best to not give the students the full answer, but guides them to find the answer themselves, which I will not deny, was very frustrating as a student, however, when I started doing university laboratories which required independent problem solving, I again realized how much Kumon elevated me both as a student and as a person.

They were able to help me improve in my math significantly. The couple that runs the place are really welcoming and friendly.

I have been sending my child to this kumon centre for about 3-4 years now and I cannot be happier! The instructors are so gentle and nice, which makes my child and I feel welcomed every time we go there.

My brother is currently enrolled in the program, his math skills have exponentially grown since he started a year ago. The instructors Rudi and Esther are very meticulous with tailoring each student’s work according to their needs and aim to make sure each student meets their greatest potential. Highly recommend:)

My family and I have been attending this Kumon for years now! It is such a great part of the community, we would definitely recommend this Kumon location to all families! The instructors are very hard working, care about their students, and want all to succeed.

My daughter has been at Riverdale Kumon for over 3 years and she started when she was 3.5 years old. She was able to read sentences after the first year of Kumon and now she is reading short easy novels. We credit this almost entirely to Riverdale Kumon as she is currently in Senior Kindergarten and the TDSB curriculum only covers basic words. The head instructor Rudi is someone I trust to always give me the truth about my daughter's performance and behavior. He is caring, patient and most importantly has a genuine desire to see her grow not only in her skills, but develop the ability to be independent and a self-learner. The best part is my daughter is excited about reading and a lot of this is because of the progress she has made through the Kumon program.

I attended Kumon Riverdale/Chinatown several years ago and my experience there was excellent. At the time, Rudi was responsible for designing a reasonably paced study plan to complement my existing homework while the other staff helped mark work and answer questions. For me, the emphasis on building self discipline and working at my own pace greatly improved my math and reading skills over time. Overall, this Kumon centre is well managed and one of the best in the city.

Helpful place for math I got 98% for Calculus and vectors in grade 12 and for Advanced functions I got 100% without much studying because I already did it in kumon and I got into biomedical engineering at ryerson

As someone who has been to this centre and completed both the Math and Reading programs, I can say with confidence that the system works. For math, the program in its early stages helped me understand the methods through my own understanding so that I can retain the information better. Through this, I was able to grasp the concepts in the tougher stages of math which, ultimately, helped me gain an edge and perform better in school. For reading, the early parts of reading helped me to understand what I was reading and to ask questions about it. This understanding helped in the later stages of the reading levels as I had to read sonnets/stories from Shakespear (covered in grade 11 and 12 while still being in the 9th grade). This kumon centre for me, was a system that works. It was slow at time, not due to the system itself, but rather due to my ability to consume information. This kumon centre worked with me to help determine the best study pace so that I don't waltz through the levels, but understand and retain the things I've learned in it. I would definitely recommend this centre.

I have known this place for years and have always loved it. The instructors are very nice and welcoming. They take care of the students well-being and helps them to succeed.

The instructors care about the students, I have taken my daughter to Riverdale Kumon for the last 4 years. She is way ahead of the other kids in her public school which was lacking in teaching kids basic math fundamentals. Especially during covid for the last 2 years has kept my daughter more Prepared.

We currently have two children enrolled at the Riverdale Kumon location. They started off with the reading program and they are now in the math program. We have noticed marked improvement in our children's skills since they started with Kumon. Rudi and Esther are patient, conscientious people who encourage students to reach their full potential.

Pre-covid I was enrolled in their math program and ever since I completed it, I’ve become more confident and comfortable with my studies in school. The instructors, Esther and Rudi, are very supportive and patient. It’s been an overall great experience, thank you!

This place is the definition of a detention centre. The instructor Rudi is a very rude, ignorant and the definition of a adult bully. He is very rude to students and also goofs around a lot, swinging his arms like some kind of lunatic. I pulled my child out of there because it was not a healthy environemnt to be in. If my child continues to stay there, they may also start swinging their arms like an imaginary golf club

As someone who has been through the traumatizing experience of Kumon, it is safe to say, DO NOT SEND YOUT KIDS HERE. The head instructor, Rudy, is a rude, inconsiderate, ignorant, impatient man who does not know how to works kids. He has a high temper and tends to get frustrated while working with kids often due to his extremely low patience and has been known to yell at your child if they don't understand. He would rather walk around the room doing werid movements such as pretneidng to swing an imaginary golf club then spend 2 minutes of his time trying to properly help these kids.

They care for my child's progress, pay attention on what is problem and focus on long term goal. They are professional and enthusiastic. I am glad that I found this location.

We enrolled both of our daughters to the program and are happy with how they're progressing. Yes, it can be a slow and steady process but with time, you can definitely see the progress with mental calculation. They don't move on to the next section until your child is fully comfortable and understands what they're doing - which is great because that's probably why most students struggle in school. Moving through too quickly will affect them later on in their learnings. It's really important to have that base before moving on to the next section. Thanks for all that you do!

The important thing to me about this learning center is they teach me to learn how to be better in my academics and it really helps me, it doesn’t matter if the place is small, it doesn’t matter if the place not really clean but for me the place was organized and tidy. Its only on the person if they are not comfortable to study and learn, they just find some reason to criticize on it.

This place is not a good environment for your kid to be in. The guy who works there is rude and is not friendly at all. My kid almost wanted to cry because of how they were trapped in there until you fixed all your corrections and also not help you at all. My kid was probably stuck in there until 7: 30 closing point. If anyone talks about kumon to him he will start crying because of all the bad memories it has caused him. I am so glad i pulled him out of here. Bad service, Expensive and not cool at all. I don't know how anyone could stay in there.

Never teaches you anything. Makes you start from a very low level even if they know you're higher than that level.

Place Is Clean, Instructor is phenomenal (DO NOT RETIRE JUST YET BETTY) and keep up the great work at the School and in your community!

The woman who runs this place demands cash. Does not facilitate transactions by credit card or cheque. Leads to suspicion about tax avoidance. This is a non-negotiable buy this location.
We stopped bringing our guys here as it is a place where high school kids coach your kids to read and fill out pamphlets. We can put our kids in better environments without the hostile and unfriendly demands of this establishment.
