KW Sleep Lab

Had my study done early June and no word back after almost 6 months. I wish I followed the resounding warnings to skip this farce of a practice. Go anywhere else folks!

I would rate this lab as zero if I could.
Sleep study done in March '23. We were told we would hear back in 10 to 12 weeks with findings and an appointment to see the sleep clinic doctor.
It's Nov 29th '23 and haven't heard anything! Multiple phone calls have been made, no one answers, you can't even leave a message. My family doctor has attempted to contact them multiple times with zero success.
DO NOT use this clinic.

DO NOT USE THIS CLINIC. I have never had such poor service from an establishment. Similar to other posts, I have been waiting MONTHS for a response with nothing. I've followed their instructions, sent in my preferred supplier information and have been waiting and waiting and waiting. At this point I've resorted to contacting my family Dr.in an attempt to get my prescription and send it off to a supplier.

This is by far the worst sleep study clinic and should be closed down, I have been waiting months to hear back I went for a sleep study in January 2023 it is now September. I've left voicemails I've called many times and nobody wants to answer me or call me back they don't take this seriously when it comes to people's lives. We go for a sleep study for a reason and they don't seem to care I am so frustrated and angry because I can't go get another sleep study somewhere else because they want me to keep trying to get a hold of this clinic to get my results. Nobody answers or does their job properly I'm just so fed up and now getting angry more and more when I leave a message. I will not recommend anyone to this clinic at all. My doctors have reached out got a letter stating they wanted me to do a follow-up appointment and yet still waiting no one calls me back, worst customer service of life I don't understand how they still have a business and how they are still open. Anyone else I know who has had a sleep study somewhere else they get their results within a few days.

Just met Dr. Galarraga-Carrero in his office for the first time since becoming his patient over two years ago. I found him to be quite thorough and informative as to the nature of sleep disorders. As a result of reading the previous reviews, I feel it’s important to note a few factors which appear to be the bulk of complaints here.
1) This doctor is literally the only sleep specialist in the area.
2) I believe the reason for the wait for follow up and prescriptions for CPAP devices has far more to do with the pandemic of the past two years. I would certainly appreciate more information from our provincial government regarding the lengthy wait times in the KW area for nearly all medical care.

3) The province is supposed to provide adequate medical services based on population and other factors, yet KW is woefully understaffed for its rapidly growing population. If you’re annoyed by delays in healthcare, call your local MPP’s office and ask questions.

The lab technicians are professional but just know that these labs are very busy so it will take some time to hear from the doctor so be patient.

I’m sorry but you should NOT have to call somewhere 5-6 times a day to get a answer been calling for over a month no answer.wrote a email.again no answer if you have the opportunity to take your sleep test elsewhere take it! You will not get anywhere with this clinic sadly! They need many improvements and customer service is horrible!

Zero stars. Avoid. Even if you see this when looking for directions, or on the bus there, skip the appointment, go home, and book one somewhere else. It's not worth it. They tell you 4-6 weeks for results, they tell you up to 12 months when you call after the test, and I am advised by my CPAP supplier that it often takes longer even than THAT. There are other options in town that won't leave you in the lurch for essential medical information for months, and those other options will likely be faster even if you have to wait for the initial study.

The worst sleep clinic ever, nobody picks up or replies. Save your time and money by going somewhere else please. I’ve been waiting for about a year now and was diagnosed with bad sleep apnea. 1 year later I still can’t get proper sleep every night and when I call this sleep clinic nobody replies to anything. 0 stars if it was possible

7 months after my sleep study and haven’t heard a thing back about results. Tried emailing and calling with no responses received.

They are actually under new management and responded quickly. Not like the previous management. Worth giving them a try as they are making an effort. It maybe a hard road after the last management.

Absolutely can confirm what everyone's comments are saying. It just doesn't make sense how it could possibly take months and months to get results ready. I'm on month 5 waiting for results now, and the whole point of going was to fix the fact that I'm always tired so that I could actually focus in school. I'll be graduating soon so it won't even matter for this purpose and I've still had to suffer through my symptoms untreated. DO NOT GO HERE.

2022 update: 4 years later and I still haven’t got my results

As I echo those other terrible reviews, my doctor office has been unable to reach anyone here for follow up. I was unable to reach anyone. My lab tech was great when I went in, but overall this company seems to be having on going issues.

I was here 5 years ago. I think the Dr.is Mexican? He sure sounds like it. I am not sure now with seeing the below ratings if I will be back. I think it might be better for me to find a Dr.in Cambridge. Not sure why I had to go to Kitchener 5 years ago in the first place. I need a new machine in 2 months. I will be consulting with my Dr.this month, October to check my options. The reviews here are insane. I never knew it was that bad.

Called like 6 times to book an appointment and it always goes to voicemail. Left a message and got no return, now I know why their reviews are so poor. Go to another clinic, which is what I am doing.

I have nothing but good to say about the techician that set me up for the study, she gets a 5. However, this was my third test at this location, and there is ALWAYS something that makes it impossible to sleep. Yes, impossible to sleep at a " Sleep Clinic". 2nd time i had a test here, it seemed like the staff was having an all night party in the hallways. The 3rd one? Last night? Well, they did the test on a Philips CPAP machine that has been recalled, and Philips themselves has advised all those using their CPAP machines to discontinue using them immediatly. What can you say about a "Sleep Lab" that uses equipment that the manufacture has told everyone to stop using.never again will I put my sleep health in their hands. I had a horrible sleep due to the anxiety of using a machine that the manufacture has recalled.

Absolutely NOT SURPRISED to come here and find such a poor rating for this business. Only giving one star as zero isn't an option.
Here’s my experience with them.

1 - Booked an appointment which they cancelled about 2 hours before the appointment. “Oh I hope you haven’t left yet”. But I get it, things do happen with staffing.
2- Wanted me to come in and go to bed at 8: 30 and be woken up at 5: 30. Not sure how you would study someone having sleep issues on these hours that are not even CLOSE to the hours I would sleep.
3 - I rebooked the appointment but had to cancel for a personal conflict. I never rebooked the appointment as my doctor said I didn't require it anymore.
4 - Fast forward almost a year later and I get 2 voice mails while on vacation trying to confirm a consultation appointment 4 days in advance. Second voice mail was very RUDE - "Several messages have been left for you to try and confirm this". Umm exactly 1 message had been left before that and I wasn't available and by the way NEVER booked the appointment at all.
5 - I returned the call and let my info even though, as I mentioned, I never even booked the appointment. I assumed they mixed my file with someone elses or something.
6 - Received a call back telling me that yes that appointment would have been automatically booked when I booked my initial appointment for the sleep study. Well nobody ever INFORMED me of this appointment. Plus if I had never actually done a sleep study - why would I have needed a followup?
7 - Pointing these things out however got me nowhere with the RUDE person on the phone who kept talking over me and telling me how they had tried MULTIPLE times to rebook with me and MULTIPLE times to call me. Basically deflection for their error.
As I said to her - SO GLAD I NEVER ENDED UP BEING A PATIENT THERE.

My referral was made when I was in grade 12.they contacted me for a consultation appointment the summer after my second year of college.they made me drive 3 hours after a 16 hour night shift just to tell me my results were negative and theirs nothing they can do.the receptionist had a very cold demeanor when I called to question why they couldn't have given me the results over the phone.the lab in Paris however, a lot better.that's where I had the actual study done and my expiernece there was amazing compared to my expierneced with Waterloo. 1 star is being generous

It is sad that this lab is still able to operate. Why isn’t the government doing anything to address the poor quality of care? It is unacceptable that they continue to waste our taxpayer dollars. I wouldn't believe their excuses that they are under new management. I understand it is the same people always involved and it appears all they care about is their own interests and not patients.

I got referred to this clinic in 2016, only to get a call back from them a week ago, 2019. Three years to get an appointment with a referral. Ridiculous. When they did call, they said that they are under new management and new name, and that they were trying to clean up the mess the previous management left behind. I and almost had to give up on my education several times because of my sleep problems. I really hope they clean up their act, no one should have to waste three years like I did.

This 1star is being very generous. In 2016, i had a sleep study completed and received those results over a year later. This year, March 26,2019, i had another sleep study completed. Today is June 27,2019 and still no results! Do i have to wait until 2020 to receive these results? Shameful. I was informed that i should have my results within a months time as more Drs were hired for the clinic. This is highly unlikely. Should i require more sleep tests down the road, which will happen, I will be informing my family physician I will not return to the Allen Square Sleep Clinic!

Had a sleep study here my first one didnt like the wires the follow up was ok saw the doc a few weeks later the just last saterday i jad another on that they fited a mask on me which ya it felt weird and funny to sleep in but i got use to it eventually but the next morning they woke me up and sent me on my way with not as mutch as when or how or what was going to happen or how i needed to get the follow up. That i need badly so i can get a cpap and b on my merry way. Question 1. NOW WHAT?

I had a study at the start of December 2018, it now March 27th 2019 and I still dont have my results. I stop breathing every night over 30 times. I suffer from terrible nights sleep among other things that the results would help me with however this clinic is interested in one thing and one thing alone MONEY screw the people lives that come in needing results they would rather have more people come for the study and concentrate on that then getting people there results. This dump needs to be shut down right away. If you need a study done go to Paris clinic they take care of you from what I hear. I actually have another appointment with my doctor to go else where for a study so I can get the results before i die in my sleep.

Worse place ever stay as far away from this place as possible if your dr recommend this place ask for a different referral had a study done in beginning of Feb still waiting for a follow up STAY AWAY

Omg.had my study done in Aug and my doctor got a message that I refused a consult. I didn't even get a call for one! I called to follow up and they said there must have been a mistake. I will not return or reccomend this establishment

Staff are great, but follow up is horrible. You have to hound them in order to get your results. Get your sleep study done anywhere else but here.

It's in your best interest to go to Cambridge or out of town for a sleep lab and doctor. I would fly to the other end of the country to avoid going here again. This place is not respected in the medical community much less by most patients. I'm literally amazed they can operate and I dont say this lightly. The other reviews are spot on identical to my experiences and are not exaggerated, in fact they are quite polite given this situation.

If you have ANY other option when it comes to a referral.please take it. This should be a last choice, and even then, might be worth it driving or finding a way to a different sleep lab.
I had my appointment May 1st, 2018, and have yet to receive my results. That is 8+ months of waiting. The kicker is I need these results before an ENT will see me, which makes me even more frustrated. My doctors office as well as myself have called the sleep clinic on multiple occasions requesting the results and the urgency of them, but to no avail. I understand they have gone through new management as of recent, but patient results should be priority.don’t take on appointments if you can’t follow through with the whole process, the actual sleep test and the interpretation of the results. I was told 4 weeks, not 8 + months.

Anyway, the beds were comfy, and the staff relatively nice.if that counts.

Personally, I found the staff to be very friendly and explained how everything was going to work. The bedroom was clean, at a cool temperature, had a queen-size bed and was very comfortable overall. I'll admit the wires were annoying at first, but once I was in bed with the lights off, I barely noticed them. The rooms seem to be pretty soundproof, and I was surprisingly not disturbed at all through my sleep. (although they offered me a pair of earplugs just in case).
Removing the wires in the morning was quick and painless, although I'd recommend taking a shower when you get home, as some of the gel and gunk from the wires leave your hair looking like a birdsnest. I suppose other people had less friendlier/unprofessional staff, but I found the stay as comfortable as can be, and allowed them to collect the data they needed to send to my doctor. (Whenever that'll be)

I am really, really upset. My doctor booked me in with the sleep lab in February. I was already having severe issues. I called them in June and I think that's when they finally booked a freakin' appointment for AUGUST with the doctor and THEN they'll book a study. I'm on two different sleeping meds and both are losing their effectiveness. I wouldn't be surprised if it'll be over a year till I get a diagnosis and/ or sleep ap machine. So rather than die of sleep related health issues, I will book with another clinic, or see if they do this in Mexico, where they are cleaner, cheaper, and more up- to- date with various medical procedures.
