Took hours for vegetarian food and it wasnt even good. Told us we needed to get out for all you can eat even though my friend was a vegetarian friend didnt eat a single thing. Staff were blunt. Overall not a great experience
Horrible service, waitresses were rude and unfriendly.barely any vegetarian options and when we asked for another menu so the person could actually eat something they told us to get out.they kept forgetting orders, food was mid and tasted like cheese.we had to kept reminding them that we have a deathly allergy that they kept forgetting about.overall one of the worst restaurant experiences i’ve had and i don’t recommend.but after all what can you expect for 20 dollars.laugh out loud
A Japanese-style Japanese restaurant. The salmon sushi and tonkatsu are tasty to some extent, but the shari (rice) is sweet and the cutlet is thin. However, the staff at the store are very nice.
This place is shocking and a disgrace to Japanese cuisine. The sushi was prepared before hand and kept in the fridge and then MICROWAVED before serving. The fish on top cold and the rice hot. Even the ice cream at the ends taste like “fridge”. The service was not friendly or professional in any way. Don’t waste your $21 for lunch or $29 for dinner.
Sushi was not the best. I could find the exact same thing at loblaws. Got an upset stomach after eating here. Please take care of your food standard. Kyoto House more like NoMoreTo House
Frequented this place often almost 10 years ago and recently had a chance to visit again after not being back for years. Back then and even now Kyoto House maintains the lowest cost for decent AYCE sushi around. Don't expect the highest quality sushi or the greatest variety. But given the cost you certainly get more than what you pay for!
This spot has private rooms if you have a larger party.
They offer all you can eat at a relatively low cost.
They always clarify with me whenever I order hand rolls as if I don’t know what a hand roll is… even when I come here with my international friends. That’s cool with me I’m not offended I’m just making a statement.
Come on down and let the fine folks at Kyoto house take care of you.
Sep 2022 update: downgrading to 3.5 from 4 stars based on recent visit where price had gone up and dinner selection/portions/quality were not what I recall (hope that's temporary) ; but probably still a better value than its pricey competitors
- Five star for your AYCE sushi quick fix value (hey that's what matters most). They have all the standard offerings. Why pay more.
Easily accessible too and if that session happened to be your pro eater mukbang AYCE sushi vengeance meal, you can easily explore downtown T-O on foot, to walk off the denim jean button busting meal you just had. Don't forget to complement it with a comforting bowl or three of miso soup though.
Can't beat their good enough, tasty enough, filling enough AYCE sushi offering for a good price, especially considering they're right downtown, and ARE surrounded by pricier competition. Quick efficient service too.
I walked by this Kyoto House many many times but I didn't visit either it's a long lineup of people or the decor doesn't look appetizing.
However, today, I finally decided to give it a try after playing some outdoor app games with my friends.
AYCE lunch here is $20.99 CDN + tax which is very reasonable at today's inflating pricing around all restos and if a bowl of pork bone soup down the street is $19.95, I rather have the AYCE lunch.
Mind you, I checked the Dinner AYCE here, for the price of $29.95 CDN + tax, just $9 more for dinner, I rather have dinner as you can order sashimi, shrimp tempura, BBQ short ribs.
For lunch AYCE, they don't offer any of the aforementioned items, it's purely sushi, hand roll, sushi rolls, udon, fried rice, miso soup, the basis. Anyhow, I was there at around 2: 00 PM, which is long way from dinner time, so I ordered the lunch AYCE.
To my surprise, the hand rolls were very good especially the BBQ salmon skin with avocado (although I prefer they put less seafood sauce in it). Fresh sushi rice, hot steamy miso soup, really clean crispy fried pork cutlet, teriyaki chicken soup udon was great as well. Ice cream were great.
I have to emphasize how attentive the staff were, they were all very competent, responsive, hardworking. They takes your orders right, always check if you have enough water or hot tea and they automatically fill it up without you asking.
I do have to say that the resto somewhat does look a bit like a cafeteria with not much a vibe or atmosphere. There are no music being played, super quiet where everyone just sit & eat, which is fine.
Food comes quick and they don't miss your order.
Of course, the quality of the raw fish and sushi are better quality at other AYCE uptown such as Richmond Hill or Markham but then again, those charges almost double, so you get what you pay for.
I would say this, if you have no expectations but just want a standard lunch that fills you up with rice, udon, sushi, this is the place, you have the peace of mind to order whatever you want and at $20.99 CDN, it's one of the cheapest AYCE lunch offered in the expensive Toronto city.
Kyoto house sushi is my favorite place to go for sushi in Toronto. The service at Kyoto house isn't stellar. If you order AYCE, the waiters do tend to slow down.sometimes, it is difficult to wave down a server.however, for the price of their AYCE and their normal rolls, their sushi is an amazing deal.for 29 dollars you have a unlimited selection of rolls, side dishes, sashimi, tempura, dessert and more. The only thing you have to pay for is drinks. While the resturant can get a bit rowdy during the busy hours; the food quality will likely be pretty good. I'll admit, the quality of Kyoto house sushi does tend to vary based on my friends experiences but I've never had a bad meal.
This place is very horrible they call you drunk especially after my wife just had surgery and is taking with a slurred speech I as a chef myself do not recommend this place I would rather go anywhere else the service sucks the only person being nice is the waitress names Wendy she went out of her way to get my kid juice and to take care of us other than that it's a flop!
We are a party of 3 who waited for 15 minutes for a table. A party of 4 walked in without a reservation and were seated at the table promised to us. I will never eat here again.
Not sure why people give this place a bad rating, they just dont know good sushi even if it hit them in the face. Its not something premium but for the price they give (30 for all you can eat dinner) this place blows the newer spots out of the water in terms of value. I might be biased because I'm a bigger guy and eat a lot though haha
For this price of 29.9CAD this all you can eat is unbeatable. Food comes extremely quickly, great service, and Sashimi is of great quality! Also loved the ribs, Miso soup, tempura, and various sushi items. I can't understand how this restaurant has a rating of 3.8, but I don't trust many people's reviews because they just can't judge properly. Can't ask for more at this price point. You can also go to a Western restaurant and pay the same amount of money for micro portions and average food which is just nicely presented. But in terms of food this is fresh and just awesome. Will come here again, especially since it's located to centrally downtown.
Its decent enough sushi for the price. The lunch menu is severely reduced with no sashimi available so that's my reason for 3 stars. Went for lunch with a girlfriend the other day and no sashimi for lunch was a heart breaker. Also no shrimp tempura! I would only go here for dinner now.
