Great specialty items, but they can be pricy. It is a slice of Italy.
It is often crowded, as it is trendy and popular.

Catering was just fabulous. I recently ordered a catering package for my "at home" celebration of my daughter's engagement from La Bottega and it was simply "FABULOUS! " I had 19 people at the event (under gov't regs.of course) and everyone totally enjoyed the assortment, the presentation, the quantity and the quality. A "difficult" sibling of mine and their partner could not stop talking about how impressed they were with the catering. (phew!). A special shout out to Larisa (from La Bottega) who came in on a Saturday to talk my daughter (from out of town) and I through the selection process. Larisa was terrific. Highly recommend for catering and everything in the store. Very well done, La Bottega!

I went this afternoon, when I finished buying Jams and some Almond cake, my housemate bought things too, i felt excited about the things there, when we finished and walked away i told him we left Italy, actually you find the place so unique

Very busy and cute. Haven't bought any of the produce yet, but their sandwiches are to die for! They're absolutely delicious!

The oil selections are good here, for salad dressings as well as for preparing a gourmet menu. The sections are not very well divided though, nor neatly arranged, and this is a problem because the indoor walking space in this shop is sparse.

Tried it because it was a local favorite. Decent sandwich but didn’t feel it was special. Maybe we didn’t get the right combination of ingredients? Not sure…

Sandwiches no longer much of a deal. Oct. 11,3: 05 pm approx, two young males behind the counter, one prepping I guess, both had their heads down chatting. Neither acknowledged me standing there 1 - 2 minutes. The guy at the espresso bar returned and had to ask if I would like a sandwich. When he finally realized he had to serve someone, he was curt and had attitude. Get with it. There are two staff when it's busy - I expect two staff to have the awareness to serve one person. I won't give them a one-star bomb because it's been good at other times.

Crowded but very well replenished shelves full of European and not so European goodies. Prices are ok. Nice service. We are regular. Could be a 5 stars but I find too many prepackaged items and not that original or rare or that you can find somewhere else. Overall a great store. Hope they will stay in business for decades to come.

If you are Italian or appreciate Italian culture this is the place to go!

It's an Ottawa staple and hands down makes the best sandwich you'll ever eat! They are super generous with their portions. The quality of everything in the store is top notch including the service!

On y est passé en coup de vent pour s'acheter un petit quelque chose à manger en vitesse;
Par notre manque de patience nous n'avons pas pris de sandwichs sur mesure car il fallait faire la queue, mais les produits disponibles en magasin sont vraiment bons et permettent de se faire des petits encas de qualité.
Pareil, au fond du magasin il est aussi possible de prendre un café / thé, et pour le coup leur latté est vraiment bon.
Le service impeccable et les vendeurs et caissiers sont avenants; génial!

Your everything Italian grocer and more. I love the cheese selection, burattas, and prepared foods, sandwiches, etc. We have ordered catering for family events from here many times and the food does not disappoint and the prices are reasonable.
Great selection of Italian foods and here you can pick up marzipan without the chocolate covering as you often find it sold in other stores.

The best Italian grocery store in Ottawa, they always have what I need and even more. The cheese section is good, sandwich station is a must try and the biscotti is to die for! Good customer service.

One of my favorite shop in town, great Italian and Mediterranean products, friendly staff and the best place to enjoy a real sandwich, I mean a real sandwich, fresh, tasty, huge in size and full of combined ingredients of your choice.

Lovely shop & really nice to have access to some food that can be hard to find in this city

Used to be my family's favorite place to get sandwiches. Lately the sandwiches have been poorly made with very little meat and stale bread. When I asked the man making our sandwiches if they have changed how much they put on sandwiches, he rudely replied "no". I asked why there were four slices of meat on our sandwiches (four slices total, two thin slices on each half) he replied " how do you know it's only four? Is it not enough of you? " and shoved two slices into one end of the sandwich and handed it to us. This is the second time our sandwiches have been made this way. We understand the pandemic has been hard on everyone and we empathize with that however the lack of care and incredibly rude staff are been off-putting. We won't be returning.

They make the best sandwiches in the city! You can choose the bread, the meat and toppings you want, and everything tastes premium made. I usually get a focaccia sandwich with roast beef and mortadella.

This is a must have anytime you’re downtown!

La Bottega is a landmark in the Ottawa landscape. You can't come here and not go to their deli to get the city's most amazing sandwich ever.

They have such an incredible selection of authentic Italian pantry items and other delicacies, it's hard to spend less than 15 minutes in there.

The only downside is it's very tiny and fully packed with items. It's great that there's lots to choose from but it's really tight to maneuver around the aisles without awkwardly sneaking past someone.

This place has been my go to place when I'm craving a sandwich for a few years now and they also have a great selection of products and Italian delicacies. Obviously with time they've increased their prices which is normal (the sandwich used to be less than $7). I don't mind paying $7.95 for these sandwiches since normally I get a good amount of meat and toppings on it and it's all good quality (none of that Subway stuff), BUT recently I've been going and have gotten the flimsiest, cheapest sandwiches, it feels like I'm eating nothing but bread and mustard. I don't know if it's just the people who made the last few sandwiches I got that were less generous or if the store itself is calculating quantities more, but it is certainly quite disappointing when you're paying that much for a sandwich and all you get is bread. I love to support local stores, but the sandwiches have been subpar lately. Hopefully this is only temporary!

Great place! Just be careful if you order a sandwich, sometimes it's big and delicious, sometimes it is small and you just eat a piece of bread with almost nothing inside. Depending who is making it.

Love this little gem of a shop! Prices are reasonable and so much selection! I stock up on pasta, antipesto, sauces and snacks when I’m in the market.

Will definitely be coming back here! All the Italian goodies you could hope for with a deli that makes sandwiches to order. The staff is super helpful and create a really positive atmosphere. Don't hesitate to ask them for guidance as they have great knowledge and suggestions. Can't wait to try more of their products!

I enjoyed a deli-style sandwich made-to-order. Beautiful and tasty cuts of meat from Italy. Nothing beats it on a busy Saturday. Staff is fast, other patrons not so much (!). I'll be back.

Visiting from new york city I could never imagine that a back of a super market restaurant can make such delicious food. Everything tasted straight out of a high end Italian restaurant. Pasta, meatballs, pizza. Forget about it.

Always a wholesome experience shopping there. Lots of interesting imported products you'd have a difficult time finding at the big grocery chains. Be sure to try their Deli sandwiches!

I love this place. I haven't picked up a sandwich yet but everyone tells me they have the best. I do love all the different varieties of cheese's as I love salty foods.

Bottaga is an Italian supermarket and a coffee shop at the Market place downtown Ottawa. The best Italian cheezes (Romano cheese) and different other good cheeses, pasta and more.

I love coming here for fresh ingredients, and some harder to find Italian or European goods. Great bread, great deli, great cheese selection.

You can find so many amazing products here! Truffle olive oil, Fever Tree mixers, Luxardo cherries, and let's not forget about the cheese selection! (PS, try the 48-month aged gouda!)

Delicious sandwiches, pizza and poutine. The poutine reminds me of home, just like how they make in Canada. Coffee is amazing too, so smooth and rich and flavour. If you stop by Cebu, make sure to stop by La Bottega.

Amazing Italian shop with a small restaurant inside and a sandwich/coffee counter. This is the only place I get my olive oil and Parmesan from. The Parmesan is actually good quality Italian Parmesan and most of them are cheaper than the "parmesan" you get at Loblaws. The sandwich counter makes delicious and filling sandwiches. The restaurant is only open for lunch I believe (not sure) but the portions are so large you end up taking half of your meal home.

We were in Ottawa and looking for a good place for sandwiches, we came across La Bottega at George St close to Bayward market. The sandwiches is well done good quality of meat. You have choices of different Italian breads. My only disappointment was the bread cold it will be good if the bread warmed up or even put in hot press. This had made the overall experience not that great. The deli section in one of grocery store corner, the Stroe is full with a lot of good stuff you won’t find in other places.

The finest Italian meats & cheeses, great espresso and amazing sandwiches plus great service. I hope this place never closes!

The best sandwiches in the city! This jam packed grocery store has a small sandwich counter at the back that makes amazing sandwiches. You pick the bread, meat, toppings and they will make it fresh for you.

The bread is fresh and soft, and the toppings are high quality.

The only thing to be aware of is that it can get very busy and you might have a long wait for your sandwich, but it's worth it.

Tons of products to choose from, with really decent prices! Cafe inside the grocery store. Really incredible staff who know a lot about the products, and are always really helpful when you need it.

Yesterday I went to this store looking for olive oil from a specific type of olive.i asked an Associate if they had olive oil made from the Koroneiki olive.he then asked where it was from. I mentioned it was from a 5000 year old olive tree in Greece.he said "I am Italian" (in a tone suggesting I should have known). I then said "that's okay". Then he said "Good! ". And as he walked away I was confused as to why he was so short-toned with me. I did notice that many of the olive oil came from Spain; so I naturally inquired about the possibility of other types of olive oil coming from other parts of the Mediterranean. I respect the fact that people are Proud of their Heritage.especially as someone who is multi-racial, but an open inquiry about a product is not a direct affront to your Ancestry. Please remember that you can ask other Associates to help a Customer if you are not wanting/willing to. Such a shame as I know from family and other Italians that as a culture and as a People they are Kind and helpful in their businesses.

Now this is one great store. There is so many different food items to buy and the staff is fantastic. They also make the best deli sandwiches I've ever had. Not expensive.
