La Castile

La Castile is the grandest dining experience in the west end, filled with old world charm and white glove service. Often mistaken for being only a steakhouse, I have found their fish specials to be excellent.

Atmosphere is one of a kind and I greatly enjoyed visiting La Castile from that perspective. However, my $80 steak was somehow well-done, medium rare, and very rare all at the same time. A great cut of meat, but a very poorly executed cooking of it. Honestly 2/10, one of the worst steaks I've had in a while overall and it was a bit of a let down. We were at a birthday party so didn't want to rock boat too much and complain.

The service was pleasant but felt like I had to get up from the table and go find help when I needed something. My cup of water was never refilled in over 3 hours.

What we enjoyed the most was the bread, pickles, and cottage cheese that came as a complimentary appetizer.

The vegetables we ordered were:

Asparagus: came cold and seemed boiled, not grilled.

Mushrooms: came in a small bowl, decent taste, were not warm enough.

Wonderful entrancing venue that you pay for. Food was not well executed or delicious (in line with the price) in general.

We were always delighted to have wonderful
dinners, excellent service and spending time in
a fairy-tale setting. It feels like a return to old

Very classic atmosphere and menu. Impressive quality (love the ribeye specially) for a very fair price. Salads are a bit too heavy for my taste and the daily soup, usually chicken, could be better. Great place overall, highly recommended. I do need to order more from their menu.

Very Victorian era atmosphere, Great environment very few places that have this kind of experience, i am impressed the steak is a favorite. Highly recommend!

The food is horrible horrible horrible, we are 6 people, non of usaet his food, the service sway more than horrible, terrible and when the time to pay and we wanted to give our opinion in the food, he was so shameless and rude as if we are complaining to run from paying the bill, omg I've never seen such bad food and bad energy like that in my life, it's the castle of bad energy and rudeness

La Castile is an experience from the quality of food and dining atmosphere. Youvcan't go wrong ordering any item from the menu.

A+ Good social distancing, decorated for Christmas, quite busy, no online reservation and paper copies of the menu (maitre de should sanitize regular menu folders after every use). The food was incredible, platter for two, no apps and no dessert, we had leftovers for the next day. Seafood was fresh, lobsters had melted butter to dip at the table. The service was impeccable (4 servers) nothing short of one water plus garlic bread server, another server to take our order, one server to process the bill + tip, another one to check in on our dining experience. A little pushy on the wine & mixed drinks but we get it, you've had a slow year and you need to make back the $1-2 million in annual sales. If you're expecting a birthday item, don't count on it, the table next to us was persistent on it, hope you enjoyed your complimentary baked potato instead! The price is expected for the stained glass & decor, reputation and fresh seafood plus the overstaffed model used for the last several decades. Make no mistake, they use Greek to communicate amongst the long haul servers, no harm, no foul, some of us are familiar with a Malaka among other terminology. We'll be back for another special occasion or to visit their piano bar area off to the left side of the coat check. One lasting impression was the seasonal wood fireplace, at least 4 feet high and possibly near the best table in the house.

This has always been my favourite restaurant. Just had another fabulous meal there again last night. The rib eye steak was cooked to perfection. The ambiance and service are always A+. Great place if you want to impress a client or a date.

La Castile has maintained its excellence in charm, food and service. I cannot fault this restaurant on anything. The first visit I made was in the 70s and it is still such a treat to dine there.

La Castile is our go to restaurant for all family occasions (we pretty much go once a month!). The service is great, food is always consistent, and the ambiance is lovely.
We often request Billy as our server - he is knowledgeable, professional, and funny!
Whether you choose to have the steak or seafood you won’t be disappointed!

Great restaurant, with good ambience. Customer Service is great, all the servers were friendly and on the ball. Only reason for not giving 5 stars, is the Oysters, I expected better for the price! I also had the Caviar, which was one of the best I've ever tasted. I highly recommend it.

A step back to a simpler time when tradition, elegant atmosphere, exceptional service and cuisine was better appreciated.
I've had the pleasure of dining here for over a half century and I am so very grateful that little has changed in that time

Great service and delicious food! Fish portions were huge. Calamari was one of the best I've had.

I love this restaurant. Great quality of food. The meal comes with the best garlic bread on the planet. Your meal used to come with potato and salad. Sadly no more salad. I don't really know why. It was just a little iceberg lettuce salad with a glob of thousand islands dressing. I know it's silly but I loved it and now after all these years they don't give it to you complementary anymore ️

Fantastic food and service as always! Even during COVID, they take precaution to make you feel safe without it feeling too stifling. Beautiful, large tent for outdoor dining if you prefer to eat outside. Friendly, attentive service.

I usually get the French onion soup and steak Neptune - can’t go wrong with combination! This time I had the ribeye steak w/a side of mushrooms. It was absolutely delicious, perfectly grilled medium-rare, it just melted in my mouth with every bite! It’s also a large portion so order if you’re hungry. The ribeye is now my favourite steak at La Castile.

Celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here last night. The decor is beautiful and the food was fantastic. There were 3 people that served our table. The service itself was ok - water was always filled and everyone was polite. However, the service lacked SOUL/PERSONAL TOUCH. For just two people, we spent $521 (we tipped 20%) and while the dessert wasn't free, at the very least they can at least wish him a happy birthday. This is the first restaurant that we have ever been to where it didn't feel like a birthday at all. I just couldn't believe that 3 people served us and not a single one could say "happy birthday". A simple gesture.

The only thing that makes this place worth coming to is the scenery. We came here for a birthday and had so many issues.
1) They do not provide complementary desert on your birthday
2) The staff was very hostile, unfriendly and even RUDE
3) The food was mediocre, especially considering the prices
4) There was a hair in my food and I did not even get a sorry
5) They screwed up my food order

Moral of the story.do not come here. Especially for a birthday because you will be disappointed.

I've been here 2x in 3 weeks.the steak is cooked to perfection. The fish dishes are absolutely amazing. Highly recommended you try this restaurant. You will not be disappointed

Dying there last night it was my son's birthday. The staff were not friendly at all. There was a hair in my food. There was a crab shell which I almost choked on. And in the end we told them it was a birthday and they replied we don't give free birthday cake you have to pay for it. We spent over $500 and they wouldn't acknowledge a birthday without paying for a dessert?
Will never go there again

They have a beautiful patio tent. The food as always Delicious. They are a high end but you are getting what you pay for. The service will make anyone feel like a VIP

We ordered three main plates for a special birthday- two Tournedoes Rossini and one Sole Almondine.
We CANNOT speak too highly of the quality of the food. When we lived in the GTA it was the "Special" restaurant we went to. So glad to know that has not changed

Old school look and feel. The chandeliers alone will blow you away. The lobster bisque is out of this world. The rib eye steak cooked perfectly, definitely a high quality and the coconut cream pie is amazing. Large portions so come hungry. The entire experience was great.

Great place to visit. Stunning interior. Good food. Although their food selection is pretty basic. It's mostly North American cuisine with some Italian flavour. You will have a selection of steaks, seafood and pasta. Don't expect to find anything as nice as in Europe not in visual presentation or in flavors. But steaks are good

Nice place, good live music on the weekend. I went there on a Friday and there was a live piano performance.

The crowd was largely made up of older people in their late 50s or early 60s. The place has a nice ambience and also has a small dance floor if you are in the mood.

My gripe being that they have just one or two vegetarian salads on their menu, nothing by way of a vegetarian appetizer or a main cource, so that limits your choices on the food side. I had to take away 2 stars on that count.

They do have a nice bar and a quiter restaurant area if you don't like the live music.

The service was pretty decent.

First time visiting La Castille and I was very pleasantly surprised! The decor and ambiance is impressive and definitely provides a visual as you walk around the restaurant. The food is on point! Ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and the fillet mignon.and all was on point! Not to mention delicious!

One thing that bears mentioning is the service. From reading other reviews posted, this was my concern going into this experience. But to my relief.the service is exactly what one would expect from this type of restaurant! Namely it was excellent! From the greeting by the coat check staff, followed by the escort to our table.to the impeccable attention by our wait staff (team 7). It was pleasant, attentive and timely!

Great service and the portion sizes are awesome! I went to La Castille last weekend and absolutely loved their food! Highly recommend this restaurant.

The food is delicious, ask for the house-made horseradish to accompany any main. The ambiance and Christmas decorations are unbelievable. Great for special occasions!

What a beautiful restaurant. After driving by it one hundred times, I finally went in. The service was great, the food was great and the restaurant is just gorgeous.

I love this place. The food is excellent. The staff are excellent. The atmosphere is excellent. This is the perfect place for adult dinners, dates, drinks and celebrating. The dining area is across two main large floors. It's very intimate and classy with traditional wood finishes and open spaces. There is a lounge downstairs with live music which is perfect for relaxing and having some drinks. No hipsters here. This is a proper, sitdown, classy place with really good and real.people in a great setting.

A place with class a unique experience exelente and delicious food friendly stuff a bit pricey but worth it I'll be back any time for a special occasion

Beautiful looking restaurant! I just wish the food and service matched the venue. Steak over cooked as well as the seafood. Asked for a new steak as it was so over cooked and when it was brought back it was dumped on my plate from the servers plate, no one uses their manners when reaching across the table, spilling wine every pour. Creme brulee cheesecake was like regular grocery store cheesecake with liquid on top, espresso tasted great. Wouldnt go back and would much much rather go to another proper steak house.

Looks like an old church - building and decor. Honestly, for the prices I much rather go elsewhere. Prime rib came out cold and the food didn't have much flavour at all.
Servers were speaking to each other in another language which I found kind of rude. At times, felt rushed. As soon as we sat down they asked what we wanted to drink before we could even look at a menu. When asked for suggestions on wine they weren't much help at all which made them seem uneducated on the topic. "They're all good. As you go up in price the wine is better". Well thanks!

If you are looking for a restaurant which has very interesting Decor that reminds you of a very old church, then this is your place. It's one of the most famous steakhouses in Mississauga, however it is not that great in terms of overall quality of meat. The steak is the equivalent of The Keg, the ribs were tough, the appetizers were a little bit strange as they would give you cottage cheese, pickles and something else. Location is fantastic and is really nicely done, however the food is not excellent. The waiters were fantastic.

I read reviews every day as part of my job as an Automotive Sales Representative and I am aware of the impact of good or bad reviews on the overall star rating. I usually don't write reviews myself unless I had an exceptional experience.

We picked Le Castile for an anniversary dinner, so after reading a broad sampling of reviews i did see some glaring biases. Most were very good to excelent, and then some was quite negative.

We went on the recommendation of a few friends and associates and I have to say they were spot on.

The food was excelent, service was impeccable, price was in keeping with many other high-end steakhouses.

We would certainly go back without any reservation. Be sure to make a reservation tho.

However we had one issue which is easily remedied. Please allocate some other place for smokers. The main entry is not the most inviting place.

As good as I remembered it! Excellent service, beautiful decor, enough sound absorbing material around that we could actually hold a conversation, tender steaks and massive scallops, tasty garlic bread! Can't wait to go again.

The only thing good about this place was the service. I had a french onion soup which wasnt that bad if it didn't the big chunks of raw onion. The salad was just a plate of greens and it tasted like the dressing was store bought. I had the t bone steak which was over cooked and under seasoned. Everything was plain and under seasoned to be quite frank. My wife ordered the escargot which she said was good. She then had the lobster tail which was below average.
Wouldn't go back if you paid me.

My husband and I went to La Castile for dinner last night for the first time, and had such a great evening. The food, atmosphere and service was all amazing. The vibe is the best I've experienced of the traditional steakhouses (think Tom Jones downtown but on a way grander scale). The service was also perfect. I was expecting sub-par service because of the reviews, but I left very impressed. They came around often enough, but not overbearing. The quality of the food was all great, and everything was cooked perfectly.

Been going to la castile when the building used to be white that was in the seventies. I have frequented many stake houses but i keep coming back to la castile, the atmosphere, the decor, the service, but most of all the food just fantastic.if you are looking for great steak and seafood or a fantastic evening with family or friends this is the place, and by the way don't forget a romantic dinner with your loved one this place is perfect.

The ambiance of this restaurant was cool, kind of like walking into a Harry Potter building. Pasta was good but the prime rib was great my co worker said.

My wife and I attended this place for a night out. The atmosphere and service was great. The food on the other hand was disappointing (other than the ceasar salad). We ordered the seafood platter. The lobster and shrimp were terribly over cooked as well as one of the filet mignon. That was surprising based on the reviews. When we informed the waiter of this at the end of the meal they offered to cook another steak, but it was the end of the night.

Food used to be good years back.

My salad was so bad that I couldn’t eat it nor my husband could it his (btw, one was Caesar the other one Greek salad) Bread is always old, burn. Service is veryyyyy slow, rude, they really don’t care about customers.

My chicken was hard as a rock, my husband ‘Steak wasn’t so good.

We really had a bad experience! And it s not the first one anyomore, but we are done going there. We used to loved the place long time ago but we can’t continue to pay so much money and no even have a good meal once nor good service.

A little bit of the seventies that survives to this day. Decor, menu, service etc are all as they were forty years ago.
The lack of fifth star is due to our waiter failing to check if wanted a desert, which we didn’t.

This restaurant is the perfect place to go for a celebration. The service and food is great, they are $$$$ but is worth every penny.the Servers pull your chairs out for you and place your napkin on your lap. They also bring a platter of feta cheese, olives, and pickles to your table before your order your food.

I've been to a lot of steakhouses in my lifetime and have had better steaks and service. Maybe it was an off night and I doubt I'll ever go back again. Presentation, food and service were subpar for the price. I also ordered the lobster brisk soup, soup was cold and had a layer of crust as if it was sitting there for too long, when I approached the server she told me just to stir it because it got cold coming from the kitchen to the patio.

Was there a few days ago food was good but was sitting on the toilet most of the time the next day and my guests as well I'm already sore from wiping there must be something in the food.

Great old style steak place with dark decor.

Service is ok and the steaks are reasonably priced and come with sides which is a nice surprise given some high end steak places charge $20 extra for sides.

Decent drinks, good food, I’m in!

Nice atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Generous portion sizes and the meat was very well prepared. It took a long time for the food to come though and the wait staff were not as attentive as I expected.
