La Dolce Vita

Been there last weekend's afternoon.nice place, good flavours, but not that good that worth the 30 minutes waiting line.

I used to love La Dolce Vita, but recently implemented operational decisions need to go. Never before have I been told a limit on how many flavours I could sample at an ice cream shop, let alone *after* I had paid for my scoop. Being told this when asking to sample some of the gelatos left a sour taste in my mouth (metaphorically - and then when one of my two limited samples tasted sour, literally as well). This made me really sad as there were a few other flavours that looked great that I wanted to try - but instead, I was left unsatisfied, having to settle with the subpar flavour that tasted less-worse than the other.

If you're going to ask your customers to pay before they choose, don't have a set limit for how many flavours they can try. There are other ways to stop the small number of patrons who take advantage of such a system from cutting into your profits.

They do NOT accept cash! A few years ago, their scoops were much bigger and now, they are tiny and overpriced! It is better to go a little bit further down along Lakeshore to Baskin and Robins! Big scoops for a better price!

Such a great location! The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.
I must have asked three times to make sure what I was getting was vegan and gluten free.
I ended up with Ferrero rocher and pistachio with a gluten free cone. All delicious!

The place looks good, but the actual food is honestly very bad. Went with a group of people, had a 3 scoop cone of gelato, coffee and hot chocolate.

Not a single one of those items was redeemable.

While the gelato portion sizes are good, however, its actual flavour is lacking and be warned that it melts very fast.

Both drinks were surprisingly bad. I have never drank such a bad tasting cup of hot chocolate. It tasted far worse than powdered hot chocolate mix you could buy at a supermarket. The coffee was likewise diluted.

All in all, not a great experience. We decided to try this place out as the store had a lot of customers but were thoroughly dissatisfied with the products we got and were surprised why this place frequently looked busy.

It’s a very cute and pretty little ice cream parlour! I loved the Belgian Chocolate and Pistachio flavour. The method of serving could be better because it was a bit confusing. However the amount of ice cream for the price is very good!

Beautiful corner gelato store setup close to Oakville Tannery Park. You can grab a quick cone and walk to the lake and enjoy your sweet treat. Recommend: Pistachios, Banana & Mint Cookie.

I love this place, the fact that its all plant based makes me and my stomach very happy, and you can’t even tell! I’ve brought many of my friends and family here and everyone loves it. I have yet to try a flavour I don’t like.

I am not too ecstatic about this gelato place. If you’re looking for a cold summer treat, great. If you’re looking for authentic gelato, in my opinion, this is not it. Could have something to do with their plant-based approach? Plus, it’s too sweet and artificial in taste and appearance.

I mean, I guess it was voted as best ice cream place in Oakville, and not best gelato place. Nonetheless, not too impressed.

Hands down the best gelato place locally! Amazing flavour selection. Have a scoop of your fave gelato on their butter tart and you’ll think you’ve died and gone to heaven!
Their pumpkin gelato pie was a huge hit when I brought one to thanksgiving dinner!

I love gelato of different kinds a lot. I found La Dolce Vita gelato to be of very solid, artisanal quality - and I mean it, if you ever tried gelato in its home country, Italy. Undoubtedly, the best place for gelato in GTA. The staff is always kind and patient, waiting for me to choose flavours. When we want to enjoy real gelato, we never hesitate to drive here from where we live, and that's 80 km away. I highly recommend this Gelato refuge, it's well worth your time and dollar. And they make nice espresso too!

After discovering that this 'gelato' is plant based, we were very disappointed. No where on the menu does it state that this 'gelato' is plant based. So if you want authentic gelato be aware that you are consuming a non dairy milk 'plant based'. Now if that is you prefer, then at least offer the real gelato to customers. I don't understand why this deceptive practice is allowed. Maybe some people prefer plant based, but its not 'gelato'. The taste should be much better, it is an off taste and lacks the authentic taste of a gelato. I was very surprised to hear that they have used plant based. It was discussed with another customer and we never were aware. If you use 'plant based' gmo, ingredients please let the customer know. No matter what you can't get a dairy taste from 'plants' its simply deceptive practice! Who said that plants give milk, its not simply true. Cows give milk and 'plant based' is just not acceptable especially in gelato. This is really disappointing.
**thank you for Response, we are on your website, NO INDICATION you are vegan! At all. Sorry no matter how you hand craft your products vegan lacks taste and quality. If you taste a milk based gelato, it has superior taste. Your flavours lack those key tastes found in gelato. You do not say it is vegan on your windows, and the person I spoke to told me he was the Assistant Manager, not owner.

Absolute garbage. It is not even in the category of ice cream. An artificial imitation way too sweet, artificial flavors, missed flavors, over priced, extreme slow service. Champion in achieving everything ice creem shop shouldn't be.

Hey there. This is a bizarre way to contact but I've lost a small gold coloured ring yesterday. Gelato was a stop on my walk so I am retracing my steps. It's an inexpensive ring that holds a lot of sentimental value. Please let me know if there was anything turned in, it would be greatly appreciated.

Amazing Gelato, and super friendly staff! The portions might seem small but trust me it's a good amount for gelato! I would highly recommend this place!

This place is not good. I had to pay for a new ice cream because the one they gave was not what my child expected.

Amazing gelato but some of their staff are very unfriendly and rude. We are regular customers because of the product but every time we go, we brace ourselves for the type of staff experience we might receive. For the premium price, I would hope they would improve their customer service experience to match their high quality product.

Bussy place. 9 pm visit, line up out the door, 10-15 min wait. Good variety of flavours, also great milkshakes! Sweet tooth heaven, enjoy!

Best gelato in Oakville! New flavours almost every day. Love that they are conscious of the ingredients used.

I don't even know where to begin with how much I love this place. Absolute best ice cream around! And its VEGAN! I wish I lived within walking distance! SO GOOD!

Was looking for Vegan ice cream, tried first time and had amazing experience. Will surely visit again!

We have been coming to La Dolce for several years pre-pandemic. The changes in service and the way they now serve their ice cream is cheap and a bit disheartening. They are cashless, the ladies behind the counter seem impatient when you're choosing a flavour, and the small amount of gelato they give is non-comparable to other gelato locations. Not to mention a price increase for less! We miss the old days of full cones and happy faces upon entry.
The gelato is delicious however and we likely will still attend this location once and blue moon.
Would recommend this location if you're looking for variety. If you want more bang for your buck, head to Bronte to another great gelato spot.

Frankly surprised by the positive review here. I gave this place multiple chances and tried a few of their flavours. The gelato was consistently bland in flavour and texture and way overpriced. Recommend going to the place with 31 flavours down the street instead. ;)
