La Vecchia Restaurant Uptown

Nothing special. Beautiful restaurant with appealing menu but no dish was memorable at all. Ordered mussels, Caesar salad, arancini, mushroom pasta, gnocchi and one other pasta. Nothing wrong but just bland, underwhelming and expensive.
Won’t be returning.

La Vecchia is one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to. Not only they serve amazing food, they also provide excellent service. We were greeted by a smile and welcomed to the beautiful restaurant. Our server, Lindsey was courteous, polite and knew the menu very well. She took the time to explain some of the wine and food choices. In addition, Gerry, the manager checked on us to ensure everything is going well. He was also very kind and asked if we needed anything. Both Lindsey and Gerry invited my friends and I back to the restaurant…we will definitely do! Thank you Lindsey and Gerry for making our evening a great one!

Every time I go back to La Vecchia, I enjoy it even more. The food is fantastic, and the service is top notch. It's all around an amazing restaurant and would highly recommend it.

Honestly I don’t usually write reviews after I go out to dinner but my fiancés cousin was visiting from NY and we decided to take her to La Vecchia for dinner. As always the food was absolutely delicious and we felt extremely welcomed and taken care of from the moment we walked in. Manny, the server, was incredibly kind and helpful suggesting the Tagliatelle al pollo for the 3 of us. This was my favourite dish iv had so far and I’m happy we chose this wonderful spot to enjoy a dinner with the future sister in law! Thanks Manny! Thanks La Vecchia

The ambiance was great, staff was attentive and I would recommend the food in a heart beat. Great place for two, or a party of 8. They have two seating floors and I would recommend this place!

Incredible food, service and experience!

For our meal, we had the Arancini, Tagliatelle al Pollo, Margherita, Tiramisu and Cappucino for a total of $113. Below is each meal broken down -

Arancini - This was amazing, the best arancini we have had. The ingredients used in the Arancini were perfect from the Provolone which was creamy and had a sharp taste. The sauce was both sweet and tangy, tasted fresh and seasoned perfectly. Finally, the sweet pea risotto was cooked perfectly inside and combined everything to make the best aranci we have had.

Tagliatelle al Pollo - This was just 5/5 across the board delicious, filling and beautiful to look at. The chicken was cooked perfectly and tender, the sauce was so flavourful with a nutty finish, garlicky taste and bold taste. The sun-dried tomatoes elevated the sauce with its slightly smoky and caramelized undertone and finally, the tagliatelle was thick, and tender and absorbed the sauce to marry all the flavours together.

Margherita - The Marg was incredible as well, to keep it short the only thing I would have asked for is a bit more crispy and bubble on the edge but aside from that perfect. The crust was thin and still crispy and you just know the difference between good and bad dough. The sauce was just like the tomato sauce and had a great tang and seasoning to it. The cheese was one of the best fior di latte cheeses I have had and just wanted me having more.

Excellent service and food. I came for lunch and they didn’t rush us at all. The calamari were delicious. Love the ambiance.

Stalwart, lasting. Great service. Fabulous traditional Italian make with gusto. Secret, go there for coffee.espresso bravo. It's been in the neighbourhood forever, I will start using it more and more

The staff and managers (Gerry and Roberta) were very accommodating and patient when my wife and I hosted our wedding reception here. The food was amazing and overall, everyone had a great time. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re looking to host an event. Thanks again.

Excellent date night out.
Service was amazing. Food was really good. Ambiance was excellent. The only negative was the music was a tiny bit too loud so many servers had to scream and it is a tad hard to hear whomever you are with. We loved the music. The volume only needs to be lowered by 10%.

I wanted to have a romantic birthday with my wife. I spent a few days searching for this restaurant and reserved it -with much doubt-. Everything turned out great and I am definitely happy with it. I highly recommend it and will be returning soon.

Came here on a Monday, arrived a bit early (530ish), we didn't have to wait, but it was quite packed before we left. The servers were friendly and quite knowledgeable. We throughly enjoyed out dishes. They have some yummy cocktails on the menu and an excellent selection of wine. I would definitely visit again!

Alessandro made it a wonderful experience for my girlfriend’s birthday. Management greeted us well at the door. Classy and romantic decor with cellar walls, it won’t disappoint!

I had "Agnolotti Di Monte", vegetarian, very flavoured! Dominant flavors were that of cheese and tomato. Staff were friendly and accomodating!

Had a great date night at La Vecchia on Saturday night. We ordered the veal with mushroom cream sauce, the ragu and the chicken and sun dried tomato pasta. All three dishes were amazing especially the veal! Service was extremely friendly, however expect to wait more than an hr for your food.

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday last night.

The staff were super friendly, attentive, and thoughtful! The food was superb and at the end of our dinner they brought her a lovely cake with a candle.

Definitely will come here again and reccommend anyone to dine at La Vecchia!

This is the best Italian restaurant in Toronto. It also serves the best coffee in this city. I can't recommend it enough.

Had my birthday dinner here on a Sunday evening. From start to finish the service was total perfection. The host saw me get out of the car and came out to hold the door open for me as I was carrying quite a few things. The staff and the gentleman who seemed to be the manager were absolutely amazing. They served us a round of birthday shots for me and my girlfriends and even waived the cake cutting fee for the cake we brought in. The place is a total vibe! Food was on point, their caprese salad had the best mozzarella Ive ever had in my life. Washrooms were super clean, the decor all around was beautiful. The table next to us sang us happy birthday which was super entertaining. They let us wait on their patio while we waited for our Uber ride and our server, Kevin even came out to make sure their heating was on so we wouldn’t be cold. Definitely planning another visit here with my boyfriend sometime soon! Thank you so much to the staff for contributing to this pleasant experience. I hope you enjoyed the birthday cake as much as we did!

I was in this restaurant this last Saturday. I did really enjoyed the food, but appart of that I found the music too loud, and was difficult to get a conversation with waitress ordering food and there are not lights in this restaurant? , I barely can't see what I was eating.
I recommend turn down a little the music, and put more lights.

The so called manager wouldn’t accept this and offered us a discount which was not even 10% of the bill amount. Super inconsiderate. Do not visit this place. Also, food was super undercooked.

Food was decent, but the service was quite slow. We ordered an octopus appetizer which was being offered as a replacement to the calamari. We ended up waiting 50-60 minutes for the appetizer. The server was very polite and gracious, but he could have been a bit more upfront about the wait rather than tell us it was 30 seconds or a minute away. We were also given an extra basket of bread for the wait. There were other tables that were served their appetizers before us, so there may have been an issue with our dish specifically (would have been nice to know before we ordered it). The octopus was a bit lukewarm by the time it reached out table.

The main courses were piping hot and served shortly after, which helped a little. Just be mindful if you're visiting on a busy evening, as they have a 1.5 hour seating limit as well.

Incredibly mediocre. Nothing bad or good. I may return if I’m in the area but definitely won’t go out of my way to go here.

We really liked the atmosphere here and service was superb! Risotto and pastas are all 10/10! Def need a reservarion for dinner because it gets full pretty quick

I love dining here and ordering takeout too! Consistency, flavour and dedication. I can feel it each and ebertime i dine here.

Don't get me wrong, the food is good. However, we planned an event there and it was almost impossible to talk to the person responsible. No follow ups, no communication. The day of the event, we were served a pasta dish that wasn't what we chose. There was mistakes in the sides and no coffee was offered to the guests even though it was in our package. I would recommend for a dinner BUT DO NOT PLAN EVENTS there.

As an Italian (a real one) I can tell you that I ordered a pizza from here and it was awful!
I usually order the potatoes and sausage
For years I have been eating this type of pizza in Italy and also here in Canada where most of the places make it delicious! These guys make it completely different from what the tradition says and not only they have changed the recipe (which is fine you can make it different) but do not claim to be an Italian restaurant if you don’t even know how to make a pizza, just everything about it was wrong, the dough, the condiments, the cooking, everything!
Please stop claiming Italian because you guys have nothing Italian here

Honestly the food was great but the service was ironically a little unprofessional…please Don’t assume you will get high end service because it’s a nice looking restaurant with good food. The waiter was trying to rush, and using phrases to make you feel stupid. We spent about$300 For 4 people.we asked to split The bill and his tone and reaction was very unusual…Overall when we were ordering or one to ask him a question he was constantly rushing us, I’m kind of had the “face palm” reaction in his tone if you get what i mean. I go to other restaurants too which are even higher in price and I don’t get this tone and this reaction as if what I’m asking for is very unusual. I simply asked to split the bill. I was OK to say one bill but he kind of made it seem like he’s doing me the favour when I didn’t really need it split. I was willing to keep it one. I get it, its busy but then either tell me nicely the first time without attitude or wait for me to tell you i dont care to pay one bill. (Which i did after he said he doesnt usually do this.but rushed my sentence and rushed off.) We simply asked to split a bottle each and everyone just pay for their meals it wasn’t complicated… I even forgot to mention my drink and he put my drink onto my bill which shows it’s simple.

Overall the food is great. I would come back for the food only…

Best Italian food and cocktails in midtown. Very good menu options for vegetarians also. I am a fan of their cocktails-Negroni and Old Fashioned. Even at a pub you wont get this quality cocktails. The pasta is so freshly made and you will definitely enjoy it.

Kevin is the outmost talented waiter we have ever met. He always surpasses our expectations and does his best. We cannot go anywhere else because no one else can ever duplicate what he does. A man with a true talent, that can be duplicated but never replicated.

We were so excited to eat here and could not have been more disappointed. After an hour of waiting and watching multiple tables receive the wrong food we were finally able to wave down a waiter. Unfortunately when our meals finally came out they were all sub-par. I ordered a steak medium rare- it was very over cooked and chewy. My friends pasta was, sitting in grey liquid and barely edible. The pizza was also flavourless so we left half of it to go to waste. We wanted to order drinks but no one came to serve us. We weren't offered dessert. The staff frequently came together looking distressed, so I can only assume something was going on in the kitchen. But unfortunately it was such a bad experience, we will not be going back.

Expert attentive service form Kevin. Delicious and well considered food and plating. Took my Mum there for her Birthday and we walked away full and impressed. Possibly the best Tiramisu I've ever had. GM Pawel and his team run a tight ship, especially considering the obstacles facing a COVID ravaged industry. So glad to see they are not only surviving but thriving.

Ambiance was nice; my partner and I ate outside. For the appetizer, we ordered Bruschetta. The bread was not toasted and looked nothing like what you would expect from an Italian restaurant: soggy, poor presentation and very clunky-looking. It was the precursor to a very disappointing evening. I ordered the rigatoni dish, which was more like beef stroganoff. Bland, clawing, and unseasoned. My partner ordered a seafood pasta which I also tasted bland. The pasta itself smelled fishy like seafood that was not fresh nor seasoned and included only one clam. I would not ever eat at this place again nor would I recommend this place to anyone. The service was okay—could be a lot better. Lastly, the plates were not washed properly. You could see food caked on the plates. If you want amazing Italian food, service and ambiance, go to Stock T. C. Pricey, however worth every penny. Money well spent. Do not go to La Vecchia unless you want to ruin your evening.

Great dinner location, prices are fair and food is great. Only gave 4 stars because the service was lack luster, waited 30 minutes for our drinks and over 45 minutes for appetizer. I do have to mention, we were there during a busy time however, restaurants should prepare and organize for these things. Especially now that most lockdowns are lifted.

The atmosphere was stellar and the service was impeccable. I don't know where to start on the food. I tried some of my sisters and they were all wonderful dishe as was mine.

We had a company Christmas party at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service - very good.

The food wasn’t great (over cooked potatoes and a hair in my food), but these aspects were not the worst part of my experience at this restaurant. I’m writing this review for all the celiacs and gluten sensitive/intolerant folks! We called ahead and the restaurant said that they were gluten friendly. When we arrived I was nervous because they did not have a gluten free menu. I told our waiter that I would get sick if I ate gluten and made it very clear that gluten from cross contamination was also part of this dietary restriction. I ended up getting very nauseous after eating this meal which only happens when I have gluten so I think it’s likely that the waiter/kitchen staff did not take my dietary needs seriously. Restaurants need to understand that if they specify that they can serve gluten-free food that goes far beyond not serving bread. Stay away, not worth ruining your day for mediocre food.

Great ambiance and service. Our waitress recommended the Sea Scallops al Pepe Verde and Lamb Shank Al Forno and they were both incredibly delicious. Will be returning in the near future!

Fantastic food, a real authentic italian restaurant. Went theyre for the first time with some friends and really enjoyed the food.

We were a group of 11, made reservations for Brunch on a Sunday. Absolutely loved the food! It was very tasty. I would give this restaurant a 5 star on food quality and ambiance; yet a 4 on service. The waiter was so cold and not interested in serving us; a restaurant like this, you would think they hire professionals, but he wasn’t even trying.

I ordered “Florentine” $14.50 (Egg Benedict with Smoked Salmon & Spinach), two other friends ordered “Contadina” $13.50 (Eggs at your preference & Italian Sausage) and “Risotto Porcini” $17 (Risotto in wild mushroom sauce).

The food was absolutely amazing, we found the potatoes to be extra tasty (assuming it is cooked in butter?). Portions seemed a bit small, but the food was filling. Yes, the prices are a bit at higher end (Tea & Coffee at $3.50 each), but I enjoyed my tasty meal and would definitely go back.

Romantic ambience for date nights or even small wedding receptions. Pasta was amazing. I would definitely recommend getting reservations.

Cost: 4/5 although it's not cheap, the food price is right based on quantity and quality. The cocktails although delicious are eyewateringly expensive and small, but it seems to be comparable to what you find arround Toronto.

Amazing, amazing place. For the last three years, my family and I have gone here fairly consistently. We found it because my brother was living at Yonge and Eg and it quickly became a favourite. My brother has since moved away, but every time we’re in Toronto we always come back here. It’s become our place for special occasions. Would strongly recommend it to anyone, for brunch or dinner!

Long standing veteran Italian joint in the area. Lovely atmosphere, but it can get noisy. Quality food, pizzas are great, I had the ribeye which was a special, tasted great and cooked perfectly. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Someone in my party ordered the mushroom risotto. I tasted it, wasn't that great but they were quick to comp the meal. I would go back.

Had reservations for myself and a few friends. Was told it would be a few minutes repeatedly, ended up waiting over 1 hour for the table.brought us to the bar to wait and we got a bottle of wine or else we would have left. Ordered two house bottles of white - ended up getting served a more expensive bottle of 55+tax+tip instead and had to pay for it! Very mediocre food. No real apology for the delay or price mix up. Paid almost 400 for 5 people, no starts, and only pastas as mains, and one dessert. Really disappointed considering there were such good reviews online

THE best restaurant in toronto, bar none. Been coming here for over 12 years.this was me and my wifes first formal date night spot (thank the stars) and has always been our place to celebrate life. The food is unbelievable, the atmosphere feels identical to a little restaurant in Venice and service is always professional but warm. An absolute gem of a place!

You cannot go wrong eating here. For over 10 years this has been a go to for me. If you like pasta it's a MUST!

Mediocre/ forgettable food! From the way the manager was acting, like they are the best restaurant in the city, food was bad. Don’t forget we live in Toronto, you can throw a stone a hit a restaurant 10 times better.
That being said the service was good from our waiter, so 5 stars for him.

This is a very nice place for authentic Italian food. The staff are very friendly and it's a cozy atmosphere for either a group of friends or a family wanting to have a nice dinner.

Classic, classy, Italian restaurant, with patio and elegant downstairs seating. Beautiful interior, good lighting, not loud, and classic Italian favorite menu items. As expected, a fantastic wine list, with even old style wine racks adorning the walls, touching the ceiling. A well stocked bar, and cocktails named after old famous actors. Nothing negative, all positives. Can't go wrong here.

Don't get me wrong, the food is hands down delicious. We were 5 people altogether including a child and our server was really sweet and nice. We ordered some apps before we ordered dinner. I ordered the veal scalopine and it was delicious. However I found the two host to be particularly cold towards our group. As if they weren't really happy that we were there. There was a mix up in our reservation and which they fixed it but the coldness was quite noticeable. But our server was super nice and cheerful.so in the end it wasnt so bad!

It's ok. Food is good, but not great. I've been twice, both times were acceptable. This last time they forgot one complete entre and had to rush it out, it came pretty quick but was undercooked - but by that time we just ate it. Didn't have dessert, large wine list to choose from. I don't think we'll go back, far better places in the area.

The best Italian restaurant at Yonge amd Eglinton! A typical plate costs around $20-$25, quality food prepared properly. Attentive wait staff and wonderful owners who are always present to make sure your visit was enjoyable.

For the past two years now, my girlfriend and I have made an annual tradition out of visiting this place for dinner on New Year's Eve, and have yet to be disappointed.

I'd passed by La Vecchia perhaps hundreds of times while running errands over the years, and had always been intrigued, not just by its overall look and and ambiance, but more so, how or why this place could possibly be so busy, ALL the time.

Needless to say, there are plenty of reasons, from the exposed brickwork and chandeliers, to the always accommodating service, and the food that is to die for.

That's right, to die for.

They really should charge more for this quality, but don't give them any ideas. I value the fact that I can afford to eat at this place.
