Lalibela Cuisine

I really don't want to leave this review but I would like to share my experience.
I usually order the vegetarian platter for 2 and I have a gluten allergy so I've always ordered gluten free injera.
The last 2 times I have gone and ordered the same platter with gluten free injera, I have felt sick and developed rashes all over my body. On December 10th, I told the waitress 2 times and made sure she understood that I am ordering gluten free because of an allergy. Then when our meal arrived I asked if this is gluten free. The next day I developed a rash. Prior to this time in the summer I called the restaurant because I was feeling ill after having the meal. They assured me that it was gluten free. I dont know if there is a language barrier or what is going on. Their menu clearly states that they sell gluten free injera.

The food here is really delicious but I cant trust that they take my allergy serious. Its a shame because id eat here regularly. A few months back I also saw a tiny mouse running under the tables, I hope that has been resolved.
I'd advise the staff to take these allergies seriously.

Came here for the first time, and was blown away by the delicious food and service. We got a veggie platter, a meat platter, and kitfo (half portion). Food portions are large and you def get your money's worth. The food was fresh and the kitfo was incredibly flavorful too. It looked like there was only one server, and the place was packed. She still managed to provide great service and provide attention to all the tables. Will def be back.

Food was low quantity according to regular Toronto Ethiopian standards. Slow cooked lamb was tough. Service was good. Quantity of injera was very small. Salad looked sad.

Great ambience, good food and okay staff. Must try once for the experience. One of the most authentic Ethipian food experiences.

First time trying Ethiopian food. Unfortunately I was not impressed, the food was served cold. The customer service was poor, there was one server and if we didn't flag her down, she would have totally forgotten about us.

No one bet lalibela Danforth, they have a very good service, excelent Ethiopian food test, Ethiopian coffee ceremony and more, I can't wait to come back and serve by you, and enjoy the food again.

Me and my friends enjoyed our time in the restaurant. It has very delicious food and quality service. The traditional coffee is one of the best coffee in town.

I couldn't get enough of this dish - it's like it was crafted just for my palate. The presentation alone was a feast for the eyes, and the flavors exceeded my expectations.

Brilliant Etheopean restaurant! I've been to some Etheopean restaurants in Austria, Japan, Israel. This is the best one I've seen. Great food, very nicely authentically decorated, nice friendly waitress. Very positive experience. They even had non Etheopean dishes for childern that may not yet appreciate this kind of food - (French fries, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, etc.)

Food is good but doesn’t worth to pay 45$ for platter that are just veggies and small portion meat.
All tables were full but there was just one server, he was great but not fair and professional. We felt bad to ask even for water as he was so busy. Disappointed management.

I've never eaten Ethiopian food before and this restaurant was a recommendation by an Uber driver. I wish I had tried their food earlier. Very delicious and flavourful. I tried both the veggie and meat platters. I encourage you to give this restaurant a try, you will not regret it.

Everything was alright, but nothing to write home about. And with the plentitude of other Ethiopian options, I'll probably try a different spot next time.

It was my first time trying Ethiopian food. It was tasty and we liked the food! (A little overpriced in our opinion) We ordered the white fish, vegetarian platter, and more. I didn’t like the bread but that’s just my personal preference.
Overall we enjoyed the food, the restaurant has a nice decoration, and the service was good.

Food was excellent, the tea was so fragrant and delicious. Easy location to walk to from Dolands subway station.

For someone like me who is from Africa was very happy to be in my place. Lube the place and menu. Just the fish needed some marination then fried. Also the Pierce have jacked up and quantity had decreased. But overall really cool place.

Great food and really nice ambience, I ordered the family platter for 1 and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. This has been a very enjoyable introduction to Ethiopian cuisine for me!

Had the Lalibella platter with fish for two people and it was very filling shared with two friends. Spices were perfect!

Our first experience with Ethiopian food and definitely not our last. Delicious food, a friendly server who enjoyed a chat, and beautiful surroundings. Being neophytes, eating with our hands was a new experience - but Lalibella is well prepared with napkins and wet wipes at the table. We also loved the glossary of Ethiopian food terms in their menu so we could learn more about this new-to-us cuisine. Our shared platter was a series of taste, flavour, and spice sensations. So delicious, so satisfying, so reasonably priced. Looking forward to dining in again!

I took my European friends and I wanted to film a YouTube videos, and they were nice about everything and welcoming. It had a great atmosphere, and the food was the best part, everything was fresh and tasty. Would highly recommend!

Food: The food is delicious and flavourful. I went with two other friends. It feels like you are having dinner at friend or family member’s house. We got the family platter with various meat and vegetable dishes. Each dish was unique and distinct.

Service: If you have questions, the staff are knowledgeable and provide great recommendations. Service is attentive and fast.

Best ethiopian restaurant we have tried in North America. Kind and excellent service. Calm and serene atmosphere. Excellent vegan dishes with great mango juice and traditional ethiopian tea. A go to place in Toronto! We will be back!

I didn’t have the best experience here. Ordered the Lalibela platter for one. For $25 I was expecting quite a lot of food. The injera was large but the scoop of each sauce was very small. The meat dishes weren’t hot. The waitress didn’t come by at all apart from taking my order. Meh

My first time trying authentic Ethiopian food. Flavours were nice. Our server was lovely. Beef cubes were just a bit dry and lamb tibs were mostly bone with very little meat & fat. I enjoyed the hot tea with cloves and lentil soup though it was a bit unexpectedly spicy for me but overall good dining experience. A little bit pricey for what we ordered.

This was my first time eating Ethiopian food and I loved every bite. It was so flavourful and cozy. Will definitely go back. Lalibela's atmosphere is authentic and for a moment you feel that you're in a different country.
