Lalibela Restaurant - Bloor St

Server was rude. And it was our first time getting Ethiopian food, they recommended us a dish with raw beef in it but never told us. At least a warning would have been nice…

I’ve been here a few times but haven’t been back since prior to Covid. It was nice to see the level of service and care that goes into every customer’s experience as well as the deliciousness of the food has not changed! I had a birthday lunch with my family there and everything was wonderful and I definitely will be back!

Zizil tibs were very tough. Traditional Ethiopian coffee was $20 (? !). Big portions. Good vegetarian choices. Very clean inside, nice ambiance. Food served promptly. Overall though, not worth the drive through Toronto downtown. No parking. We had to park a kilometer away, in Dufferin Mall, where parking was tight.

Horrible and extremely slow service. Hygiene is non existent and you'll getting sick of food poisoning if you eat here. AVOID THIS PLACE!

Amazing, flavourful food. My Ethiopian friend and I love coming here. Always offering friendly service and great food. Food is very inexpensive and large portions. The ladies that serve here are very sweet and always smiling and constantly asking if everything is ok. Definitely a must try!

My husband drove half an hour to Dora wat, to come home with one drum stick, lite sauce, one boiled egg and it was all cold. Cold to complain and she said this is how we serve it. Well I will not be returning. First and last time.

Friendly service, we sat outside on the patio. The food was delicious and light, perfect level of spices and balanced flavours.

I ordered lamb tibis but they made beef. On the top of that the taste was very bad. I didn't eat it. I will Never go back again this restaurant.

Food was incredible, filling and relatively inexpensive. The atmosphere was lively, and carried the thrill and heartbeat of the city. Was an amazing experience, and I would happily repeat, eat and share.

The platters are great! African flavors and stew just hits different. Injera is interesting similar to south indian bread. Service can be a bit fast. Takes forever to serve.

Solid Ethiopian food! I got the veggie platter and a pork dish and it was definitely too much food for two people. The flavors were delicious, I would totally go back.

One of my favourite Toronto dining experiences! Enjoyed the vegetarian platter and titanic plate, was the perfect amount for. 3 people. Wonderful service and atmosphere.

Quite disappointed with this place considering it was my first time dining here with couple of friends.

The service is just lacking of everything. Poor management and poor service- hospitality. Servers just work there and have no clue what food they cook in the back.

Food flavour was okay- most were very bland.

Mind you we only ordered 3 items (I don't even know if this Veggie Platter portion is right) and we waited for ONE HOUR!

I found this restaurant extremely disappointing. I ordered delivery-the meat platter for two and the vegetarian platter for two.

It was a small amount of food. I was shocked each platter was supposed to be for two people. There was one small piece of lamb and one small chicken drumstick. The packaging was a mess. Maybe that's inevitable with Ethiopian food, but they could have organized it better. And the taste was average. Won't order from here again.

The food and service is always 5 stars. I always get the veggie platter and it's the best food ever!

Just the best. That's all, dig in to the platter with your friends, significant other or a first date. Eat with your hands always, enjoy the amazing injira texture with the perfectly stewed flavours.

The service is a little rough around the edges, but it is clearly food made with love and care. And so tasty! We have tried several Ethiopian places in the east end, this is easily the best.

Pro tip - if you want proper/authentic (sour) injera, get the gluten free one.

I ordered the veggie platter and doro wat. These dishes were delicious, my only con plain was having only one piece of chicken in my doro wat lol. I honestly love the flavours but expected a bit more protein.

Obviously great flavours I can't say anything about the food but a) it came wrapped in the injera and not in a separate container like it usually does so it was just soggy and falling apart.couldn't eat it together.b) I got scammed? Asked for the special and got charged a lot more. When I asked about it she said it's a different size but how much I got charged isn't even on the menu. She obviously made up that price on the spot. On top of that it was NOT a bigger size.that was just an appetizer size. Really disappointed because my friend recommended this place

Unfortunately this was some of the worst food I've ever had in Toronto. Both the vegetarian and meat platters tasted very sour and vinegar-y. The injera was lacking in any flavour, and it had the texture of what can only be described as foam. They left an unpleasant after-taste. I am very confused as to how this place has such high reviews.

I went to pick up dinner for my family. I called it in and went over. When I arrived, there was one person who was wearing his mask BENEATH his nose and a woman who worked the back who wasn't even wearing a mask! This goes against public health and Covid19 mandates. I was disgusted. If I hadn't already paid for the food I would have walked out. As it stands, when I got the food home, I had to sanitize the bags and containers. Luckily we didn't get sick from their blatant disregard to public health and safety.

In regards to the food, minuscule portions compared to other places and several of the dishes had a weird chemical taste to it I've never experienced from any other Ethiopian restaurant I've been too, and it wasn't the sanitizer I used on the bag and boxes.

Take out: Vegetarian Platter for 1, Shiro Wat & Gomen, Cabbage Wat. You get ample injera to eat with each dish. GENEROUS portions!

I had something like veggie platter. Good packaging. I loved the food. I don't know whether this is authentic or better or worse than ethiopian food in Ethiopia. As a local from Toronto, I highly appreciate that Lalibela is always there so whenever I feel like some African food I have a good option. Very consistent quality.

I ordered the vegetarian platter for 1 and it was delicious! I ordered at 10: 15 at night and I arrived 6 minutes after, and they finished packing my order by then!

Our order was not right after clarifying several times with the waitress, and the food was just okay once we finally got it. It was nothing like the Ethiopian restaurants I have been to in New York and Texas, and I have been to quite a few. But, the decor was nice.

I have been visiting to lalibla for long time and they don’t serve good anytime that I visit to the restaurant. I don’t know if am Eritrea or they have problems with Eritrea it’s more than 4th time also, I ask a lot to of Eritrea ppl if ever happens to them like that and they agree with me.so we pay our money to come; Clients is king

Poor service, mediocre food. Servers' attitudes were offensive and intimidating as if they had problems being in a hall:/ it took 30 minutes to get an order while the store was not too busy.

Food was expensive and small in portion for its price. Presentation of the food was poor. My dish had sauce tracks marked here and there and was not very pleasing compare to how it was shown on the menu.

I am a fan of Danforth Lalibela and expected similar from this location, but I wouldn't recommend Bloor Street.

HORIBLE HORIBLE HORIBLE EXPERIENCE!
Long story short, I ordered through groupon app and went in to the restaurant at 4pm, the server spilt water on our table never came back to clean it and took our order 30 MINUTES later. Two tables that were seated after us have already finished eating. An hour later the food comes but she got the order wrong! Then AT 5PM we decided to take the food home cause she already took an hour to prepare it. Then she refused to make it to go eventhough it was her own fault. I ended up paying through credit card so that I can make it to go. AS SOON AS I OPENED THE PLASTIC BAG GUYSSSS IT WAS THE WORST FOOD EVER

Attended with brother and sister. Unbelievably tasty food. I paid for it the next day on the throne, but the food was so good I'd go back and order the same thing again. Really good food. Please, invite me when you go!

I had such a bad experience at Lalibela restaurant today. I went in for lunch at 4pm and the server brought a glass of water, while she was putting it down she spilt water on the table and went to grab a towel to clean it up. As soon as she was walking towards us, two customers came in and she compeltely forgot about us. Then she starts taking their order and brought the food for them while us waiting to order. And 20 minutes later she took our order but she got the order wrong. At 5pm the order was ready and I asked her to make it to go but she would not do it eventhough it was her fault. SHE was very rude and left the place unhappy.

We went yesterday for dinner. We ordered food and drink. We just finished the food but still have drink and plan to have another. The waitress bring the bill and ask us if we ready to leave. We found that offensive and unprofessional. I will never visit that restaurant again. Thanks

Food is delicious and fills you up. Tried the ceremony coffee and it was great. Service however was on the low end. Took forever to get the coffee (we ordered it before the food and told them to bring it out after we were done eating to avoid the wait) the coffee itself is very flavourful. Ordered a side rice but never came yet got charged for it but they voided it. It was a Friday and I understand the delays. Groupon users don't get this one confused with lalibela cuisine they're not the same the voucher that they accept is lalibela LOUNGE.

One of new favourite spots. Ideal for dining alone or with friends. Ambience transports you to Ethiopia. The food, the food, the FOOODDDDD is so good, flavourful, hearty, healthy and it just makes you think of food we ate as kids. So good. Good for your wallet, belly, soul, cells, everything!

This was my first time eating Ethiopian food and it was a wonderful experience. The customer service is out of this world, the ambiance is great, very clean restaurant and don’t get me started on the food. I had the spicy lamb stew and it was absolutely delicious. The lamb was tender and seasoned to perfection. The waiters were great and I want to give a special shout out to Achu! He greeted us with a warm smile and attended to our every need. He made our experience here even better! 5/5, no questions asked! I had a little taste of Ethiopia.

Good food, great staff.deducting few points just because we had sharp chipped piece of ceramic plate in our food. Brought it to attention of our server. Restaurant should take care as this could had serious medical consequences.

Great food. Great staff. Had the family platter. The goat was amazing and the cinnamon tea was delicious.

Ordered #48 and used $15 Groupon so basically it’s 2 can eat for the price of one. The entire thing was so good, everything was just incredibly flavourful. We were really digging the seating and music, it wasn’t very busy the day we came (Wed 8PM) and it was just a really peaceful and enjoyable dinner date:) my favourite dish was the lentils? The brown coloured dish between the two yellow dishes on the picture, and the chicken. My boyfriend really liked the chicken and the lamb, the only 2 meat dishes we got. The collard greens? And potato dish was mild and delicious, it oddly reminds me of my childhood, though I grew up on Chinese food.

Stopped by on Friday evening for dinner, prior to attending nearby Comedy Bar. Pretty quaint and charming decor emphasizing the lovely architectural church marvel of Ethiopia. Service was decent, though sporadic. Menu perhaps a little too extensive. Ordered sharing plate for 2 and we were stuffed (and I'm a big eater). Food was tasty. Good prices. Has a sister establishment next door that's more of a bar lounge. Decent experience. Happy to recommend.

Customer service is very bad. Girls are avoiding us, we were celebrating birthday and drove from other town but didn't had good experience. We are not recommending this place.

Delicious veggie platters, but make sure you allot extra time. Each piece of injera has to be cooked to order, so it can take awhile (sometimes 30-45 minutes) for your food to arrive. It's well worth the wait, though!

If you purchase the Groupon make sure you go to the correct side - the Lounge and Restaurant are attached, but Groupons are not interchangeable.

Very authentic vibes with many of the same cultured people eating. My first time trying food and I enjoyed my experience. Be ready to eat with your hands and look silly if you are used to eating with utensils.

This is a special restaurant. With my Toronto friend celebrated Merry Christmas in here. We have wonderful dinner. I really enjoy, Food and music. 25December, 2014.
