Friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable dentistry. I've been going here since I was a kid and I still like it as an adult. They answer all my questions about my own teeth and even the dentistry process, and were happy to give me my dental moulds from making a retainer when I asked if I could have them.

My family and myself have been patients at Laurelwood Family Dentistry for 20 years and the dentists and hygienists have always been top notch even till this day. Unfortunately because of 1 team member the entire team fails. This entire experience started on Friday April 23rd when I was experiencing extreme mouth/ teeth pain and discomfort. I called Laurelwood and got an appointment for Tuesday and was prescribed penicillin and pain medication. I went to the appointment with Dr. Tomkun and a top back tooth needed a filling replaced which which he performed. A couple hours after this I started to feel a lot of pain in a bottom tooth under the tooth that had just been repaired. I went back 2 days later to have Dr. Tomkun look at the bottom tooth. X-rays were taken, I was told there is nothing wrong with the tooth that he can see and to give it time and see if the pain clears up. He also told me that he would have someone from the front desk follow up with me to see how I am doing. No follow up was ever made. My pain and discomfort worsened so I called Laurelwood the following Tuesday and talked to "the manager of the front desk" (I will refer to her as the manager for the rest of this review). I explained to her my symptoms and asked if I could talk to a dentist. After 3 different phone calls hours apart and her going back and forth between the dentist and me I finally told her not to worry about it and that I made a doctors appointment for the following day. She told me that was a good idea. I went to the doctor, he told me that I really need to go back to the dentist. On Friday May 7th the pain got so bad that I called Laurelwood at 9 am, left a message that I really needed to see a dentist because of my pain. 11am came and still no call back. I tried around 10 more times, every time went to the answering machine I finally left another message. I waited another hour and finally went directly to their office. I rang their doorbell and the manager came out. I asked if they were open and she said they are until 1. I told her I had left 2 messages and since they weren't calling back that I came directly there. She said she will be right back. When she came back she said she just listened to my messages. I explained that I left a message 3 hours ago and that she can't wait until the end of her shift to listen to her messages as they are a health care clinic and that people need them. She rudely asked what I want and I said I need to see a dentist. She asked me when I wanted it and I said today. She instantly and boldly said "nope". I said tomorrow, she said no not tomorrow. I said you tell me when I can have an appointment. She went back into the office, came back and said I can have an appointment Tuesday. She asked me what medication I want. I asked her what do I do until then as this is an emergency. She gave me a number for an after hours clinic for emergencies and sent me on my way. I waited until 5 pm when the clinic was open, was told they cant accept me because Laurelwood doesn't subscribe to the clinic. So there i was on Friday at 5 with no dentist to see for 4 more days almost completely broken mentally and physically. ALL because a receptionist refused to let me see a dentist without even checking with a dentist. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE THE WILL, CONTROL or POWER over the mental and physical well being of a dentists patient which she knowingly did. It is not only morally wrong in so many ways but should be illegal. I literally suffered for 4 more days than I needed to because of this. I emailed them to let them know what had happened regarding emerg clinic and the managers behaviour. The manager called me Monday. She was confrontational and rude. Her only concern was that in my email I wrote she was unwelcoming on Friday. She never asked me once how I was and asked me twice if I wanted to cancel tomorrows appointment. I had my tooth pulled May 21 by a referred specialist. It was so infected it ate through the bone under it. He said it was as bad as he sees in severe cases (hospitalizations)!

Took my 2 year old daughter to have a general checkup. Nice service and the nurse is children friendly. But I would take one star off for making the payment in full because they don’t have assignment for insurance company. They will help to claim the fee though. Just feel more comfortable with dental office with assignment.

I had a dental emergency. Front line staff made a consultation available for me as well as a SECOND visit for an emergency extraction.
Dr. Gao was focused, attentive to my concerns and to the pain that I was in. She expertly extracted my tooth without causing any additional pain. Thoroughly grateful for my dental team!

Everyone is super-friendly and competent. The equipment is modern and well-maintained. They run on time and always make sure you're comfortable. Very customer-focused. I can't think of a single thing they could do better. I actually enjoy going to the dentist.

My favourite dental office that I've had so far! Knowledgeable and friendly staff and dentists, and I always feel that my dental concerns are heard and that I'm well taken care of. Highly recommended!

The office staff are very pleasant and easy to deal with; they're very organized and make the experience seamless. Dr. Gao is very knowledgeable and cares about her patients. She takes the time to make sure she addresses any and all of your concerns. The hygenists are also very knowledgeable and make it a good experience. Highly recommend this dentist over others in the Kitchener/Waterloo area.

We absolutely love coming to Laurelwood Family Dentistry. The front office ladies are exceptionally kind and helpful. They go above and beyond to make each visit welcoming and positive. Recently 3 of my family members required appointments, including my 3 and 6 yr old (who had simultaneous appts). When I called a week or so ahead of time and mentioned they might both need me in the room *and* that we would be in a rush to make swimming lessons, Janet was quick to problem-solve and figure out a solution so that we were efficiently seen with minimal stress.

We typically see Dr. Stone and Dr. Tomken and both are kind and patient with answering any questions.

I've had a fantastic experience with these guys. I chipped my tooth over the holidays and needed to see someone right away. Since my regular dentist was away, I hoped to be able to walk-in and have someone look at my tooth. The ladies at the front desk were very understanding and accommodating and booked me with a dentist on the same day. Dr. Gao was terrific. She was very thorough in her explanations and was very patient with me. She fixed my tooth in no time. Could not recommend this place more. Fantastic service all around.

I’ve been going to Laurelwood for about three years now. Staffs are always very well organised, detail oriented and friendly.
