Just celebrated my mom's 90th birthday party at La Vinia. We hosted 35 people and everything was perfect, excellent and plentiful food, great friendly service and cozy ambience.

Thank you for making the day memorable.

Went for dinner with friends where we were greeted immediately and shown to our table. We shared four tapas appetizers and a paella. We left nothing in the plates. The wait staff are the chef/owners son and daughter who are very personable, attentive and provided the best service I've experienced in awhile. The restaurant was at capacity and I watched in amazement how well the brother and sister team worked the tables. Furthermore, the chef comes to the table to ensure the meal was to our satisfaction.
At no point we're we rushed to leave which made our conversation very relaxing. If you haven't tried Lavinia, you are missing a great experience.

Amazing food and service and it was my first time there. I attended La Vinia to celebrate our work Holiday gathering! The food was delicious, the seafood was fresh and prepared with love, the service was excellent! I will definitely be going back!

Lovely place. Had the risotto, very good quality. Tried the fish of the day, and Salmon was cooked perfectly. Found the dishes lacking in flavour, but maybe that cause I like spice. They were cooked perfectly, however, and I would return to the other dishes another time. Lovely ambience! A quaint, comfy restaurant.

Absolutely spectacular! Had an authentic Spanish meal and shared a drink with the lovely owners, who are very warm and welcoming. The food is delicious and prepared with joy and passion. I highly recommend it!

Our 3rd time at LaVinia. Excellent service. The quail, lamb shank and chorizo with beans + clams excellent. Chef came out to ask if everything was good. One thing I'd like to point out. I eat in restaurants at least 14 days a month due to my work. The v pleasant waitress asked me "would u like some flat water? " as soon as we got to our table. I assumed she meant tap water. The water came in a small, wide mouth, glass bottle, but not w a lid or cap. It tasted like reg tap water. We also had wine. To our surprise, that water was $7 on our bill. We were never asked if we wanted " bottled water", as most restaurants would have phrased it. It tasted like reg tap water, in a refillable bottle. If we are paying $7 for tap water, stick to wine. If that was ' bottled water', then best to clarify what you r being offered.

Excellent restaurant, with outstanding spanish food and amazing friendly staff. Chef Fernando came personally to every table to say hi and ask the customers about the food. A true gem.

Paella isn't as flavourful as expected. Croquettes were delicious. Overall, the food is ok, but the dishes are on the pricey side.

What a wonderful dinning experience. The staff is kind, respectful and very friendly. Chef Don Fernando paid a visit to our table to make sure everything was going well. The first time we ate at Lavinia we thought it was one of the best meals we had in our lives. This time the paella had no crust. I sent mine back and most of the ingredients were dry. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate flan and the custard was overcooked.

Quaint restaurant with great service and excellent food. We were a group of four and shared our appetizers with a jug of sangria. Each of us ordered something different. Penne with chorizo, lamb, seafood paella and regular paella paired with a rioja. The chef came to greet us and waved as we left! Highly recommend!

Absolutely the best Spanish restaurant in Ontario.

Friendly staff and delicate service. The chef comes out and greets every guest. This is very unusual these days in Toronto. It just adds extra detail that the chef really do care about and appreciates his guests.

The food was exceptional. Nothing unconventional, sticking to the authenticity. It’s very hard to find a restaurant who has strong fundamentals and does a good job executing traditional dishes.

Definitely recommended and this place will be one of my go-to places.

Excellent customer service. Very high quality cooking, especially the sea food. If you're looking for the full experience I recommend asking for your server's recommendations. Definitely the place to go for a quiet date night.

Nice small restaurant. Fast service even when busy. Prices are fair for offered menu selections. It could get really loud when full. The only downside is their paella but anyways it's hard to find a good paella in the Toronto area unless you find a good Peruvian restaurant.

Great intimate restaurant, the owner/chef came out to personally ask each guest how was the meal. We had mainly seafood tapas and were very happy, particularily the scallops and the octopus.

Easily the best spanish food Ive had in toronto. Great portion sizes and flavours. My compliments to the chef.

: the tapas, we tried 4 different ones, octopus, scallop, chicken, mussels were very good. The mussels were good, just not as good as the other three.

The fish of the day was exquisite. Wish I could've had the paella but will definitely get it next time. Definitely one of the best Spanish restaurants in the GTA.

A gastronomic gem in the west end.

I had a great experience visiting the restaurant few years ago for a birthday celebration! Great atmosphere, great customer service and most importantly delicious paella! One of my all time favourite dishes. The chef/owner even came out to chat with us, offered us free desserts and joined us for the group photo? Highly recommend if you love paella, grilled octopus, and being well taken care of, this is a must visit place!

The pulpo is exceptional and the croquettes were amazing. Try the sangria as well. Overall, left satisfied and happy.

Owner and Chef Fernando Garcia will never stop amazing us with his authentic Spanish cuisine. Great tapas selection, fantastic and generous serving of Paella Valenciana, Veal (beef of the day) tender and delicious. Paired with a full bodied Tempranillo suggested by Jaime, it was the perfect food celebration for my Wife's birthday. Can't wait to go back there again!

Our overall experience was phenomenal. The food and service is incredible. The chef comes to check in on the tables whenever he gets the chance, an extra touch of excellent service. Highly recommended.

(2017) Went here for my mother's birthday. Had 4 Tapas: Spanish Ham, Spanish Meatballs, Braised Octopus & Steamed muscles. Followed by a Seafood Paella as a main dish Also had a complimentary Cheese Cake and Tartufo for dessert. Perfect amount of food for 4 people without feeling too full.

Enjoyed the nice variety of Spanish food, cozy atmosphere, professional and caring staff. Even the head chef came out to greet customers.

It was pretty busy, but we had a 7pm reservation to beat the dinner rush.

I consider this place a high end Spanish cuisine experience as the prices are up there, but makes for an unforgettable meal. I will likely return for another visit to sample more items.

Update (2019) : Revisited for my parents 45th Anniversary + relatives visiting. From out of town. We visited on Boxing Day and had a 6: 30 reservation and we were the first to be served. We had the Spanish Meatballs, Spanish Ham and Grilled Scallops to start with the Penne Pasta, Chicken & Seafood Paella and Squid Ink Risotto. Everything was absolutely delicious! Not spicy or weird, just flavor and comfort. This place deserves it's place in the TOP 10 Tapas Restaurants in Toronto according to tripadvisor. Its reputation shows through from the professional service, delicious foods and sweet and passionate head chef who visits every table after service to ensure his guests are happy.

Update 2021: Returning in stage 3 of the pandemic lockdown. This time for my father's birthday. Restaurant is still going strong. Food is top notch. Service is friendly and professional. Great to see things going back to normal!

Absolutely amazing food. We can’t wait to be able to eat in the restaurant but they set us up for a beautiful picnic experience at a nearby park.

Incredible food - the paella marisco, crab croquettes and Gambas Salteadas con Setas, Anís y Salsa de Azafrán in particular were standouts - and the service couldn't have been better. What a wonderful family-owned spot.

This is one of my favourite restaurants, I have been coming here for years that the staff and food is excellent. I find that it’s very authentic being that I’ve been to Barcelona in coming here I feel like the food taste the same especially the Spanish Paella along with other menu options. They also have nice wine selection. After a great meal the dessert is my fav the mango cheesecake oh wow I can’t get enough! I would highly recommend to family and friends it makes you feel like you are in the Spain.

First ordering food from here, the food was hot and delicious, the service was great.we were very very happy with the paella, absolutely delish! Will definitely be returning customers. Auxi and Fam thank you so much for the dessert also, it was sooooooooooo good:) 10/10

Excellent.recently ordered takeout for my birthday. Although it wasn’t as nice eating it at home because the food got a bit cold by the time we got gone, the food itself was excellent.

If I had a deeper wallet I’d order from here more often! My elderly parents were so happy with the meal!

Meal portions are shareable so order a few varsities to sample all the chef's delicious piece of heaven.

Service is awesome that make sure that your choices are heard. In addition chef makes sure that you have got your food right. Be ready for a surprise if you are here.

The family had dinner at for this first time last night. As soon as I walked in the energy and atmosphere was welcoming and beautiful. The food - tapas and paella's were shared were of the finest I’ve had in North America. To say nothing of the octopus & calamari. The service was great, informative and so professional. A family business and our waiter made excellent wine recommendations and, without being intrusive, ensured our every need was met. A great dinning experience and excellent food. Worth every cent.

I expected something special since the restaurant has such a high rating. The decor is ordinary but it was the food that disappointed the most.

This restaurant is very special to me and my boyfriend. We love every single detail on the service, but it wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t for the hard work Don Fernando, his wife and Jamie do. Don Fernando brings authenticity to his service by taking some time to visit every table to greet clients. His red wine is worth to try, and our favourite must have tapa is ‘Chicken Croquette’. It just melts in your mouth, and the aioli sauce is homemade! Also, if you love Paella, they make the best Paella in Toronto! Lastly, you are all very special to us. Thank you for all the love you give us every time we come to your restaurant.

LaVinia is a little Spanish restaurant located at the west end of GTA. 4 stars overall rating does give me high hopes for this restaurant. The restaurant is very small, and a bit noisy environment. Remember to make reservations ahead of time for Saturday dinner. Walk in is not accepted because it is fully booked on Saturday way ahead of time. We sat down, and the waiter introduced us the special of the night. For appetizers, we had garlic and olive oil shrimps, and grill quail (special of the night). Both are delicious. The main, we had the seafood paella and shellfish stew. The seafood paella is good, but not wonderful. The shellfish stew is tomato soup, but the herb favor is a bit too much that I cannot really taste the tomato. It is not a bad dinner experience, but I personally enjoy Italian cuisine more. If any yelpers live at the west end, definitely would give a try.

I have never had such a bad experience at restaurant. Food was not good, Service was worse. I honestly did not even eat my paella. No offer for a different item and no reduction on bill. Chef came out to condescend me at my table. No dessert menu brought out. Felt disregarded for being a 20smthg women out with my girl friend. I am in the industry and serve at a fine dining restaurant. I was appalled by my experience here.

This place is absolutely delicious! All the dishes are so tasty and cooked with love. A little on the pricey end, but the quality of food is a splurge that is well worth it! We go here for a lot of special occasions. Fernando (owner and chef) is so kind and personable, he feels like an old friend. Try the shrimp in saffron cream sauce, you will be hooked!

My husband ordered paella dish and while the quantity was sufficient, he felt like the flavors were lacking. My shellfish stew was again good in quantity but salty. Taste is subjective but giving my opinion. Also we were charged 18% gratuity for 2 people table. Is this normal? I have only experienced this for a group setting. The server was professional but unfriendly but maybe that's his vibe. There are lots of good reviews but based on my experience, l would not go again.

I absolutely love this place! I called to make reservations the person on the phone was friendly and cordial. On arrival I was shown to my seat and introduced to the owner (or manager, I dont remember). He was a very friendly respectful person. I asked for suggestions and made small talk, my wife and I both felt very welcomed. We ordered 2 paella dishes and a bottle of Rioja. The wine was fairly priced and so was the food, though not cheap when you're in the Toronto area, expect to pay similar prices. The owner came to check on us a few times, and at one point another customer was finished eating. She was with a younger child and lived across the street. The owner had a staff member escort her to her building and carry her food which I though was the most generous kind act I have ever seen from a proprietor. We asked for the bill, the owner came to send us off, but first offered us complimentary coffee. I cannot recommend this place more, and I dare you to find better Spanish food in the city. To be honest, I have only once been so pleased with a restaurant and it was in Montreal, so I guess you can say this is my favourite restaurant in Toronto.

Very nice Spanish restaurant, the appetizers were the high-light, our favourites were the crab croquettes and the grilled Chorizo. For our main we tried the Paellas, the Chicken and Seafood and the Seafood. We preferred the Chicken and seafood. The staff and service was great.

They provide a good selection of Spanish dishes. Delicious food. The service is also very good. The pricing is affordable too.

Super Spanish food, authentic, delicious and reasonably priced. Good selection of paellas, tapas, some pasta and meat dishes. I had a saffron rice dish with calamari, scallops, shrimp and fish - fabulous (and large enough that two could happily split one serving after an appetizer or salad starter). The only rub is a wine list without many choices under $60 and almost nothing under $50, so factor that into your thinking and budgeting. Very professional service, and an attentive chef who is concerned about your satisfaction. We'll be back.

Entirely overrated in my opinion. The food is good, but far from great - some items were simply not good and I'm not even a picky eater (anything with shrimp was surprisingly disappointing). Prices are quite high (top notch downtown restaurant prices). Location and decor are average to below average. Service is also just OK - no real complaints, but certainly not a positive. All in all, I'd say there isn't very good value here. If you were to spend $50-100 pp, you can find significantly nicer places with better food. There are countless places where you can spend less and be far more pleased with the experience.i wont be returning.

The food that we ordered was perfection. We had the baked goat cheese and spinach, grilled calamari and the paella Valencia. Not only was the food incredible but the service was exceptional. Attentive, professional and kind. Even the head chef had come out to ensure the customers were satisfied. This place will for sure be a staple and we will be back many more times to come!
