Le Sélect Bistro

Sadly, we had a very subpar dining experience on December 24.
The cut of meat used for the steak frites was tough and fatty - we sent it back twice until they finally admitted that they didn't receive a good cut of meat from the butcher. The crispy skin of the duck confit became soggy after sitting in the white bean cassoulet - total fail. The cassoulet was also extremely salty. The two desserts we ordered - chocolate mousse & crème brulee - were delicious. The staff were great. I usually enjoy the food at Le Select Bistro but after this last time, I'm not sure if I will return.

This place is quite nice. We came here for our anniversary dinner and we really loved outlr exprrience. They offer a dish of the day which was sadly sold out by the time we got there. We opted to get the beef tartare for started with a side of fries which were deliciously crispy and flavorful. We then got the roasted chicken which was jucy and savory with a side of cream mashed potatoes and we ended the night with one of the most amazing crème brûlé I ever had and a chocolate mousse. The chocolate mousse was not as light as we wanted it so I dont really recomend it. Our server was very nice and helpful and the place had a great atmosphere. Highly recomend

This French restaurant is definitely more on the classy/formal side. We’ve tried quite a few items on the menu — mussels & fries, bread & butter, tartare, burger, and onion soup. Overall, the food was decent at most, but honourable mentions would be the steak tartare and bread & butter. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a tasty highly flavourful tartare. Service was kinda on the slower side though. We’ve received half our items, but got the other half 45-60 min later.

Really enjoyed Le select Bistro! A true authentic French experience. I had the croquet madame and was really satisfied with the portion and the food. Ill definitely be back:)

Brent was our waiter and he was terrific. He helped us figure out what to order and made it an enjoyable evening. The food was fabulous

We didn’t order much as we came in just before kitchen was closing.
The French onion soup wasn’t as rich and deep in flavour as I had hoped for. The cheese on the top was good. The wine selection is nice & the patio is clean and comfortable.

Would like to go back and try more from the menu!

I’ve been meaning to try Le Select for a long time. I finally went for my birthday and unfortunately was in for disappointment. Generally the food looked visually appealing however there was either no taste, or one flavour overpowered the dish. Escargot - could’ve used more garlic and flavour. Beef tartare - the Dijon mustard overpowered the dish. The French onion soup - very acidic and tasted almost like tomato soup? Steak frites was good but overall very disappointed and would not recommend.

A great place to go for brunch. A terrible place to host an event.

We hosted a brunch for 35 and paid a hefty fee of $3,900. We had family members who were gluten free and dairy free. While this was outlined many time to the restaurant, there were zero alternatives for them upon brunch being served. Very disappointing to not accommodate allergies. We were only provided store bought gluten crackers once asked.

Not a friendly place to host an event if you have any dietary restrictions.

I will say brunch if you have no allergies great

Went for summerlicous and the food was immaculate. Service was fantastic, and overall vibe was great.

Also liked the semi open kitchen.

This restaurant is the one I always prefer. I go to a lot of restaurants but to this place I go the most. The team is very amicable and the cuisine they place on your table is so delicious. I am always happy to have a nice dinner in this restaurant. I highly recommend this place.

This place is worth a try. They serve big portions for fair rates. Always clean and with excellent mood. Will come visit again.

Incredibly Average. I didn't find the duck particularly well done. The cocktails were also meh, but overall it wasn't expensive, so I guess that's a plus. The bar wanted me to pay my tab there before moving to another table. That was a bit odd. The service was adequate.

I can't believe they have to close. Such delicious brunch here and great pricing too. The staff are always so nice. I hope in the future the consider reopening.

They offer an awesome range of fresh food. I loved eating here. Employees are always very welcoming, prices are reasonable and the spot is always kept clean.

This is a great place - awesome food, excellent ambience, great service. BUT, but why, for the love of everything in this modern day and age, does this restaurant not have a change table in their bathrooms? How hard is it to put up a change pad on the wall? I had to awkwardly balance baby on the thinnest ledge by the mirror to change him. So you guys not want to welcome new parents to your establishment? It’s 2018, is it possible to get with the program?

Le Sélect Bistro never disappoints! Lovely room, comfy banquettes, delicious food, outstanding wine, and excellent service. What more could anyone ask for? My Steak Tartare was outstanding, as was my dining companion's Choucroute Alsacienne. The Gâteau à la Courge we shared for dessert was the perfect finish to our meal. Absolute perfection from start to finish!

Liked it but didn’t love it. Went on a Saturday and was a little bit bummed out that they do a brunch only menu on the weekends. Wish regular lunch/dinner menus were available. My lamb burger was delicious and so was the croissants but the place is a bit too loud for my taste and service also wasn’t the best.

Great authentic french food. Great aumbiance and knowledgeable staff. Owners are welcoming and accommodating. Wide selection of wines and some tasty cheese

A staple of the city. This is my go to and i usually sit at the bar. Love the atmosphere - even for a cafe au last i could stay here for hours.

Le Select is quite a fantastic restaurant. They are obviously a French restaurant, the level of authenticity is quite high - even the hostess was Parisian which was impressive. The food was all generally fantastic and we'll balanced in taste, portion and style. We were a larger group of over 20 individuals and the waiting staff were very responsive with the service. Overall, I'd love to come back for a brunch as well.

Classy quality outfit serving absolutely traditional French Bistro fare. Fine wine list too. You will not be disappointed.

I love this restaurant. It’s my favorite French restaurant! I am Parisian and I really feel like I am in Paris. Love the service, wine, food. Everything!

Enjoyed Le Select Bistro's dinner the other night. Cut ambiance although the hostess tried to seat us right between two other couples in a tight seating section and I politely asked about the other half of the restaurant which was pretty much empty; after asking she did re-seat us in a quieter spot. I have no idea how that pre-seating arrangement suggestion from the hostess came about.
I had the Foie Gras which was pretty nice, the Escargots in the pasty (great sauce), Cuissot de Chevreuil (red deer haunch served rare which was also delicious), and the dessert was okay (we had the Gateau a la courge and it was the orange/grand marnier sauce that was too tarte.although fortunately the sauce was just poured aside off of the pastry onto the plate so you can avoid most of the tart sauce if that is what you fancy like myself).

I am glad I was not hungry when we entered the restaurant for a business lunch. Portions are very small for both appetizers and for the main meals. To be fair, prices are reasonable, but who cares if after the meal you feel like you were scammed. Wait time for the food was longer than usual. No music was playing. Would not recommend.

Wow, what a great experience! My wife and I went for Sunday brunch with another couple and our two children. The food was amazing as was the customer service. The restaurant is beautiful and the crowd is hip. Parking was easy as there are free spots behind the restaurant. I will definitely come back again. Let Select is very kid friendly. They also have a sweet patio if you are visiting in the summer.

I had the duck confit and everything about it was great. The duck was amazing, the potatoes and vegetables were delectable. I paired this dinner with a glass of Merlot as well. For dessert, I had an espresso with creme brulee which was really good

This place is on the pricey side, but well worth the money spent. The atmosphere was good as well.

Overall, worth the visit, in my opinion.

Took my mom and sister there over the holidays and it was an excellent choice. Nice cozy atmosphere, great customer service and the food was delicious. We shared the Fois Gras and all three of us did the Prix Fix Menu which is an excellent deal considering it’s regular portion sizes. We had French Onion Soup (pat an extra $5), Duck Confit, Steak with frites and Chocolate Mousse and Creme Brûlée for desert. Huge bonus is the fee parking at the back of the restaurant, it’s limited but we were there earlier around 5: 30. Definitely will be going back to try there Brunch!

The place has a very good atmosphere and much better inside than in the pictures. Food is on the pricey side but very delicious. The best French onion soup I ever tasted!

Pretty good food but not the most ideal place for young kids. Their chocolate mousse wasn’t fluffy, which was disappointing.

Delicious french fare in a cosy romantic space perfect for first dates and anniversary dinners. Their wine selection is out of control.

This was my second time coming to this restaurant, and the food and service were as perfect as the first. Two surprises for me: I usually don't enjoy duck at restaurants. I find them dry and too gamey. I didn't realize that the cassoulet came with an entire duck leg. Oh but I ate all of it and enjoyed every tender, juicy and fragrant bite with a lightly crisped skin. The second surprise was the chocolate mousseline. Instead of tasting like whipped chocolate milk as I expected, it tasted like an airy, rich, aromatic dark chocolate with a very long finish. My favourite French restaurant.

Was very busy and the host who looked like he might have been the owner wasn't overly friendly sat us in the front section.
The food was very good and our waiter was friendly although nobody told us about the specials until I asked.
The steak came out under cooked and was promptly returned medium rare this time.
I ordered my favourite salad which was the Niçoise and it was excellent.
The service is generally a little 'matter of fact' but it might represent the somewhat stiff clientele at lunch times.

This place is over rated. The service was terrible and the food was mediocre at best. The service was terrible slow and the stake tasted like liver! Was my first and last time going to this restaurant. On a positive note the decor is nice.

One of the best restaurants in the city. Sunday brunches on the patio in the summer is perfect.

Excellent french dishes, executed well and with flavor, very good and friendly service, wine list is the best I have seen in Toronto, price are moderate for the quality of food

What can I say about Le Select. For the record, I've been a customer for more than 20 years. It's not a restaurant, it's an institution. It's the anti-hipster place to eat real food. It's not trendy. The service is genuine. The atmosphere is unique. It is our favourite restaurant in the country.

The service we received was not what I expected from this restaurant's reputation. Our meal took just over two hours due to the lack of attention from our waiter and very long wait times between courses. Water was spilled on the table without being wiped up and wine was dripped on my plate without an apology. That being said, the food was amazing!
