Leela's Roti and Doubles

I asked if the chicken in my roti could be cut a little smaller! Shouldn’t be a big deal right!? !? I couldn’t believe it when I was told no! And that there “to busy for that! ” I’m spending almost 20$ for a roti and they can’t take a couple more seconds to cut some chicken is mind boggling to me the food is good but the customer service is not!

I've bought repeatedly over the years and the food is usually good.
July 2023: service and offerings have greatly improved. There is a significant step up in the service and food they are definitely worth a visit. Summer lunch specials and new items on the menu make it a desirable lunch location. The eat in area is clean and well organised. Menu keeps expanding.

Wow is all I gotta say. Randomly came across this gem and we will definitely need to go back. The doubles are the BEST I have ever had…So much flavor. Everyone is so friendly and the restaurant is very clean and modern.

Ordered doubles which were fluffy, fried bread and savory chickpea filling, are a street food delight. Paired with tender, flavorful goat meat, it's a culinary experience that's both satisfying and full of rich, aromatic spices. Must try for all!

. I highly recommend this place for roti A+: (curry chicken, stew chicken).

. I ordered the Calloo with stew chicken. I highly do not recommend getting the callow. I paid $15 for this and got all rice with a bare drip of calloo. Your basically paying for white rice and stew chicken. Your wasting your hard money for this. Spend the money on the curry roti you get your money's worth.

I only gave a lower score because I got ripped off with a couple rice dishes.
I recommend not wasting money on rice dishes because unfortunately you don't get what you pay for.

Chef Asif and Chef Annie are killing it! Best Trini Curry Goat and Dhal Puri I’ve had! He told me so! Unreal.

I wanted vegetarian food, and came across this restaurant on ubereats.
The chana, spinache and sweet potato roti looked like a great option.

Received the order quickly, was still warm but not hot-
It was absolutely delicious!
And not greasy at all which is what I was afraid of.
The taste was so flavourful and wholesome- like home cooking.

I didn’t know what to expect, but all three fillings came in one giant delicious roti, was still sort of separated in the wrap which was good because I’m not big on sweet potato but I can tell it was yummy as well, just couldn’t finish the meal so ate around the sweet potato mixture (and some of it too to be honest). It wasn’t difficult or messy- it was somehow still sort of separated in the wrap, not mixed together which was good.

I can’t speak to the authenticity as I’m white, lol, but if the food in Trinidad is like this (or better), I may have to make a visit!
Or come back here to try more food in meantime-never tried doubles, excited to try it here.
(I can hold my spice well but depends on my mood- I took slight spice-you can select spice levels! It wasn’t spicy but was very flavourful, I wasn’t mad with that!)

The staff was super nice and friendly. But the food has too much sugar in it. Also fished a long stand of hair from my mouth from the roti I was eating. This just killed my entire appetite. I lost $40

We have bought aloo pies before and they were well filled. However, today we bought 2 and it was very scant - hardly any aloo in it and there was none at the end. And there was no channa.

Don't let your reputation and standards fall after having such good reviews.

Scarborough location. Very Very bad service.

Ordered more expensive lamb roti take-out, but received less expensive beef instead. Asked for mild, but order was very spicy.

Called the next day to advise the store of their error, but was advised that they could not have made error and I'm mistaken. Yes, that was their response. I could only get a refund if I returned the dish to them, but it was thrown out. "That was their policy" the clerk advised.

Some West Indian restaurants always try and cut costs where possible, no matter what.

Do they always serve beef when lamb is ordered, and charge more?

Really great Doubles! (And I’ve had ALOT of Doubles)
Doubles come stuffed with channa and are soft, tasty and just perfect!
You can even add Butter Chicken and other meats in the Doubles. All delicious!
Go easy on the pepper sauce though, asking for a little, they put ALOT.
Also ordered the Stew Chicken, perfect!
And the Macaroni Pie, Yummy!
Bake and Salfish was just okay, won’t get it again.
But overall it’s the DOUBLES for me!
Will be returning.
Staff was friendly too.
And very bright, welcoming interior to the restaurant as well:)
Only downside… the wait time for your food can take forever….

Good doubles. They've changed the business name to "Wicked Carib". Same good, same service.

Prices online need to be updated add 25% to your bill. The food is good but the level of spice is inconsistent. A few weeks back I ordered my food spicy it was mild and today I ordered it medium and it came spicy. Good food but the spice level is a game of Russian roulette. Will go back regardless once the prices go back down.

$3.25 for one doubles, $3.50 for extra filling. So yummy. They have three levels of spicy and the lowest level would be perfect for those who want a good introduction to Trinidadian cuisine.

I have been a fan of Leelas food for awhile, until last Sunday I ordered the ox tail Peas and Rice with potato salad. What I received was Curry Oxtail it was disgusting to say the least. I know oxtail suppose to be stewed. When I went to address the food the worker said she only works there and could not help me. So future reference if you want Stew Ox Tail do not come here bc you get only curry oxtail apparently so sad bc the food is good.

This is a home-cooked meal in a modern day mom & pop shop… I can’t find anything better! I can’t stay away!

This place used to be my go to place for roti and doubles. Boneless beef roti was distasteful today—it was bland but still spicy. What happened? New owner/chef?

Leelas vic pk was one of the few better roti in scarborough. The last few time that I purchased food from them the orders were wrong. But the worst was on Sunday Sept 18th I ordered a BL chicken and a BL goat. When I opened the goat roti, the roti was so badly ripped all the goat and potato filling was falling out the roti. They actually wrapped the roti with two sheets of paper. (So sorry I did not take a pic) if I wanted I would have not ordered a "WRAP ROTI". As I mentioned the last few visits have been very disappointing. I only gave a one star because i have to. I will be laying off leelas vic pk from now.

I absolutely love this place. It is my taste of home away from home. Their doubles are the closest to authentic Trini doubles I've had in this area. The bara is perfect. I've introduced a few of my co-workers to the doubles here and they have them regularly now. In addition, at least once a week, they oblige me by preparing my custom order of rice and bone-in curry chicken with "plenty plenty plenty" gravy. It brings me SO much comfort. I'm so grateful to them for that bit of kindness.

The cashier said she can't processed the transaction until he returned with the $0.15

This isn't the way to run a business

Many people comes to our restaurant they even call us with a wrong order we say come in or order again and we will send extra
Customer service needs to be eminent especially nowadays

Hands down THE BEST roti I've ever had in Canada. The roti is silky and soft, the filling is tasty and perfect. This is comparable to the best roti spots in Trinidad! Amazing!

Just a heads up to everyone, the pricing on their online ordering is outdated and does not reflect the price you pay in store. I noticed this after paying at the cash register via credit card and they refused to refund me the difference. While it's only a few dollars, it really is the principle of things that rubs me the wrong way and is highly unprofessional. Man prob got his business sense from Mr Krabs.

The only reason it gets 2 stars is because the flavours here are good but they're a bit stingy with the meat. Probably won't be coming back.

Good doubles. Haven't tried anything else just yet. Roti is also good. I have noticed they take too long to deliver food to walk in customers at noon. Need to work on that issue.

I'm a Trini. So I have eaten roti at some of the best places in Trinidad and in Toronto. Trust me when I say I have tried them all. This roti was awesome. The taste was great. I had a few gripes about it. First. Why is it I can never get channa (chickpeas for you guys that don't know) with my roti from any roti shop in Toronto? This is a staple in Trinidad. It's the norm. We get channa, pumpkin, mango and even in some places bodi in Trinidad. I never get those things in my roti when I order it here in Toronto. It should be included. I can get it from Leelas though if purchased as a side

Secondly. The curry had too much liquid in it. Too wet. It was swimming. Less liquid. The consistency was a bit too much on the watery side.

Nevertheless the roti tasted great. The dhalpouri was soft and extremely well made. I will definitely return and try them again. Next time I'll try the food. The macaroni pie and other items they have on the menu.

If you want a good tasting roti Leelas is definitely one of the better places to get one. I recommend them.

Placed an order online for Scarborough and when arriving at the restaurant I was forced to pay $8 more for my order. I was told that the web site was wrong and there was nothing that could be done. I understand that pricing may increase, but it's up to the establishment to makes sure everything is correct. You accepted my online order so should that should've been the price to be paid. There was no call to say the price increased. Also, checking a week later the website price is still the same so I can only imagine the number of people that had the same frustration I did. When I asked to speak to someone to clear up the issue, I was told no one was available, nor was an effort made to take my information down to have someone call me. It was not a pleasant first-time experience at this place. How can repeat business be expected? I tried contacting the restaurant from the "contact us" part of the web page, but got errors both times I tried so even that doesn't work.

If you don't know Carribean food this will do. Cole slaw is not home made the chicken portion is way too small. The jerk seasoning has no power. Almost $14.

I’ve ordered their doubles on numerous occasions but I wouldn’t consider them authentic. I don’t enjoy them much probably wouldn’t return

Brampton and I love Trinidadian food and I love doubles. I bought doubles here couple of times and I really loved it! The stuff was very friendly and the doubles was fire. I can’t wait to to try their curry chicken next time I go there. I have had Doubles view places and so far leela’s doubles was the best. Thank you guys for making a good food:)

I would like to thank the Owners of Leela's Restaurant in the Scarborough Area, for always providing such scrumptious dinners. The food is off the chain.meaning very very tasty. Some of our Thistletown New Era Lion Members and I had the liberty of packing over 450 HOTMEALS last month to give back to the folks in the community for Ramadan. I encourage everyone in the Scarborough area to stop by and have either a take out or sit down dinner, if you haven't done so as yet.

The doubles, curry chicken with tasty basmati rice and roti is to die for.

Drove all the way from the Toronto west end to try Leela's, and oh boy was it absolutely worth it. We ordered a bunch of food, their goat roti, doubles, pilau rice. It was all very good. We dined in close to their closing time and they were gracious enough to give us time to finish our food. Can't wait to go back!

Awesome food. They are open for takeout during these hard COVID 19 Times. They take all safety precautions but above all else, they serve amazing doubles and rotis. Very friendly owners and staff. Great service and even better food!

We got. Veg, goat, lamb, and chicken doubles. And some lamb curry and jerk chicken and rice. I've been all over and have to say they have the best tasting jerk chicken and the rice is so flavorful I could eat it on it's own.

The roti stuffing is amazing and so many vegetarian options for the veggie rotis! The okra is awesome!

Their homemade hot sauce is the bomb! Has so much flavor and perfect amount of heat.

Definitely worth the long drive. Everyone should come and check it out!

New location, same great taste.

Was excited when I saw the signs that this Mississauga institution was opening a new store right next to my house! Definitely did not disappoint. I got 3 rotis at their opening promotional price of just 7 bucks each and it was a ton of food. Doubles were also fantastic with great textures and chutney flavours. Will be coming back to try more of the menu soon!

Unfortunately, my first experience was during COVID, so I settled for takeout. The person on the phone was very pleasant and I got the veggie platter with a dahl puri roti. Best roti I've ever had, and 4 veggie sides were super tasty. Definitely going to eat here more frequently.

We ordered takeout and the food was nice and warm when I went to collect it, they had it ready at the exact time they said they would and it was absolutely delicious! Very friendly service with proper social distancing in place as well.

Very happy to have this place so close to home! My favorite item was the bake and shark.

As a person that travels to Trinidad alot. It is refreshing to come across a place to do it right. Alot of the dishes I have sampled took me right back to Curepe Junction and Debe doubles shops.
Even in these Covit times their quality and customer service are top notch.
Try this place out. Call in, uber eats, walk in just get there and feel good.

Worst doubles and roti I have ever had the dalpuri is soaking wet and same with the doubles it was like a pile of water was poured on my food channa should not be so watery it also has a very egg and sweet taste we are putting it all in the garbage if it was not raining I'd go back and show them how disgusting this is. I'll never return and I love roti and doubles. I'll stick to monas roti way better quality

The food is amazing here and they just opened up! We got the doubles and the bara/roti was so fluffy and moist, the chickpea curry was so flavourful! We also got the Jerk chicken in a Dhalpuri roti- the jerk chicken was proper spicy and the dhalpuri roti was soft and delicious! The Mac and cheese pie was cheesy and soft, and the stew chicken was soft and delicious. I'll definitely be coming back for more.

The BEST. I MEAN the BEST! I've been to many roti shops. By far Leela's Roti n Doubles (Scarborough) have the tastiest and flavourful roti.

I just picked up a boneless lamb roti. I got home and noticed there was enough food for an army. Great taste and very enjoyable. It's a very convenient and clean place, hope it doesn't change. Keep up the good work. Thank you

Wow! I found this place randomly while driving through the area. Having not had a roti for at least a year I just had to try it. They were running a $7 roti special and I naturally went for the curry chicken with pepper sauce (of course!) It was super tasty and the perfect size. The curry was flavorful and well-spiced with a good amount of chicken. I'm very happy to now have a roti and doubles shop within easy driving distance.

Was really excited to see a halal Carribean restaurant open up close to home. We got doubles, bake and shark and jerk chicken. All 3 were delicious. Please support this new restaurant in these difficult times so we can continue to enjoy their delicious food when things are better!

First time ordering from this restaurant. I ordered 2 doubles, and one butter chicken.

I had doubles before and they taste delicious, but from here it was disgusting to the point I had to throw it in the garbage, it was so small that there was barely any chickpeas in it and it was so watery it leaked everywhere made it taste like raw dough. It was so messy the sauce was everywhere.

The butter chicken wasn’t even in a container, it was wrapped in some giant roti so when I got home I had to put it in a plate myself and scrap off the butter chicken from the roti. Everything was so messy.

Please do not order from here, it was very disgusting there are other restaurants that serve such tasty food.

Hey Leelas, welcome to the neighbourhood! With your awesome Aloo pies and doubles, everyone's flocking in already even with the pandemic going on.

The aloo pie with all the fixings is very very good, sweet, salty, savoury all balanced out with the excellent chana and fried dough wrapped around it. The doubles are equally tasty, moist, sweet, sour, with just the right amount of spicy. Service is friendly, the prices reasonable, the portions are filling. It's all good.

Great tasting, fast service and very accommodating. Glad to see a great West-Indian restaurant closer than the west end! (coming from Durham, we don't have much options). Worth the drive.

Hands down the best doubles in the city. I am Trini I know doubles. The roti was also amazing you will not be disappointed. Clean place, friendly staff, affordable prices and good food. What more can you ask for. I dare you to come try this place, it will be like magnet from there on. Keep up the good work guys.
