My husband and I recently took our four month old daughter here for some blood work. I was referred to this location by a colleague who said they’re very good with babies here. I was hopeful that would be true. It was a very busy morning, we arrived right as they opened the clinic (apparently so did everyone else). However that didn’t stop the clinic and staff from being quick and efficient. We were seen pretty quickly by a lovely lady named Karelia. She assessed my baby and grabbed a colleague who’s name I didn’t get, they were able to successfully draw blood right away. The whole experience was quick and effortless, yet the staff were also so patient. Karelia was so sweet and great with my baby girl. Not only was her phlebotomy skills on point hat day, so was her care for her clients. My husband and I could not have asked for a better experience for what to us was expected to be a stressful morning. I will never go anywhere else for my baby girl in the future.

One of them with gray hair yelled at me just because I asked her when will be my turn seeing no one before me and nurses are free. She later kept pointing at me and yelling for a few minutes when I asked her about appointment and that she shouldn't yell. I can't imagine a such rude person working in this healthcare place where at least basic patience and love is needed. She doesn't seem to like her job. She doesn't deserve that place. One point given to the nurse doing me blood test.

Not bad as I don’t expect much from a clinic. But the brown older lady with short hair who draws blood was not pleasant. No hello. No good bye. “Roll up” “push here “. “That’s it” It’s just a very negative vibe coming from her. I think talking to a computer would be 100% better than talking to her.

TL: DR; If you want clean and sanitary, you have to request it (at least from Israa). Less than 0 stars. Otherwise, feel free to peruse the rest of my Lifelabs saga:

I'd only been to this Lifelabs location a few times, the last one being a pretty satisfactory experience until the lady taking my blood ripped the needle out of my arm when she couldn't find a vein (and yes, my arm hurt for months afterward). Unfortunately I was desperate a few weeks ago, so this was the only place I could get my blood test done early enough. I had high hopes that this day would be fine.then I saw this blue thing left on the chair where I was supposed to take a seat. On closer inspection, I saw the blue tourniquet was not clean. (I don't even want to think about what that white stuff is.) Strike 1 and 2.

I didn't sit down until Israa (so glad I caught her name tag) came in. She didn't seem to notice this biohazard left on the chair and insisted I sit down until I asked her to remove it. She did (with an "oh, right"), and after verifying my info, of course tried to wrap it around my arm. Recoiling, I asked "shouldn't you use a new one of those? " to which she laughed and said "of course, you're absolutely right. " (Strike 3) She left and came back with an unopened box (thank GOODNESS), wrapped my arm, used an alcohol wipe, tried to get the needle in and couldn't, so she asked me switch arms. She took another tourniquet from the box, wrapped my right arm, and took out another needle (effectively getting my hopes up). She took my arm and aimed for a vein. I held up my hand and said "don't you have to use an alcohol wipe? " She gave a dramatic sigh and reluctantly got one to wipe my arm. She was already out of strikes already but this lack of judgement (with audacity on top) was a solid Strike 4. But I thought "whatever, it's done, I don't have to come back here ever again. "

Then came the best part: "what's your name again? "

(Strike 5)

I repeated my name. "And your birthday? " I repeated that too.

". And your name? "

Flames on the side of my face.

I just wanted this whole scenario to end, so I sucked it up and repeated my name. Israa held the paper up to me and said, "are you sure that's you? " [Insert vomiting-with-rage gif here. ] At this point I wanted to barrel-rolled out the window just to get the heck out of there. Apparently so did Israa, because after giving me a somewhat convinced look that she had taken the right patient's blood she abruptly bid me farewell and left. I stood up, and lo and behold, the tourniquet she'd untied from my right arm fell from my lap. (I'm pretty sure this is how the movie "12 Monkeys" played out, too.)

On the way home I managed to talk myself out of burning my clothes and bathing in bleach, and settled for writing this review instead. May this tale of woe help people avoid whatever bloodborne pathogens this Lifelabs must be slathered in. If I could I'd give this place -3 stars. No wait, make that -5 (one for each strike). Good luck, y'all.

Cancelled appointment and booked another lifelab, much better service

This Markham LifeLabs have the worst service. The receptionist is unfriendly and they are very slow at their work. Seems like they don’t want to work. I have to wait at least 10 minutes in line just to check in even though there is no one ahead of me. I left and went to the LifeLabs in 379 church st and they are fast and friendly. No attitude here. Needs to deal with the inconsistency of the labs. Someone needs to look into this and improve their service at the Markham Lab (5293 Hyway 7)

Very unacceptable technicial behaviour. Yesterday, I waited for 45 minutes to do the lab check even though I had an appointment. The technician for bone density checking is a man (possibly Indian). He even blamed me for being 1 minute late and he decided to go on lunch break for 45 minutes right after even though he saw that I arrived in the lab.

I have been going to this lifelab for over 10 years.
I am always lucky to be served by my favourite technician Ferzana she is very knowledgeable, friendly, professional and gentle while performing blood work.
Based on the way she conduct herself and treat the clients at reception I could tell that she has the knowledge and expertise to train the new staff.
I have never had any issues with the other staff there but if patience seems to be lacking take note of it and make the necessary changes to provide the services clients deserve.

I took my blood test at here for already two times because I am currently using a medicine that needs to test the blood. The reason why I recommend you to take a blood test here because the doctors that test your blood are professional, and sweet. If you want to have a good blood test experience, please come to this branch. I remember when I take the blood test at here for the first time, I was very scared, but the lady was very nice to me, and she gave me a hug after I finished the blood test.

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible!
There're other labs around the area, do not go here unless you have free time to waste, and be prepared to deal with the old receptionist. Basically, you are not allowed to ask questions for the long waiting time, even in a soft and polite way. This is during the COVID period, it's a hard time for everyone, I understand that. And I appreciate they have their protocol to follow, so I respect it. However, the old receptionist is full of herself, she thinks she is the only one in the world doing the hard work during the pandemic. She is arrogant and impatient.

Told me they lost my requisition form at 220 pm for my 155 appointment. I took time off my 9-5, so they told me to come in the next day at 7 am. I came in at 645 and waited in line for over an hour before I had to leave to head off to work.

Don’t come to this Life Labs; the old Receptionist is so rude and impolite. I walked in at 10 am and being told that I need to make appointment so they asked me to come again at 10: 45 am; when I came back at 10: 45 am they asked me to wait outside the lab for 15 mins and then moved inside and wait for another 30 mins; I asked the nurse that am I the next one (with soft tone), I said I’ve been standing (no chair) here for ½ hour, the old nurse seat beside her stood up, staring and yelled very loud at me “don’t be mad, you did not make appointment, WE ARE DOING YOU A FAVOR, don’t be mad at me”, I said I didn’t mad to you, just because my back hurt I’d like to know am I the next one, and she yelled very loud and repeat the same words again. This lab is pretty small and very busy, maybe she’s working under stress. There’s a lot of Life Labs in the city, find one with the polite people. The one star is given to the nurse who did my blood work, she's nice.

I'm a very frequent flyer at this location and everyone is so amazing here and set a tone for the day. There is 1 very special employee and I did not get her name (Jamaican lady) she is so happy go lucky and always jokes with patients. I will continue to go here because the atmosphere is absolutely amazing.

Made an appointment for 130pm. Only one other patient in the lab. Didn't get seated in a cubicle until 2pm. What is the point to making appointments if they can't keep it? And my appointment took a total of 3 mins from when the tech came in to confirm who I am until I got up to leave. Seriously, what is the hold up? !

I would not even give one star for the receptionist attitude, I called their number tried to book an appointment no one answer the call it says call back an another time to book an appointment.i was there about 7: 10 she refuse to take the blood test and there is no line up and no one in from of me. I would no go there again. Terrible customer service.

I booked my appointment on line, it was easy and quick. I went to the location five minutes before my appointment. There was a lady in the lobby to check me in, and I walked into the lab and immediately someone inside talked to me to make sure who I am. I standard there for five minutes, it seemed like they were talking about their shift schedule. Then one of ladies asked me to sit in room 2, I was waiting there for another 5 minutes, then a golden
Hair girl walked in and gave me a blood test. I have to say she was really good, I even did not fell a thing. She was very nice and professional.

I've made an appointment on website (it wasn't possible to make it by call).
Incomparable with previous time.

1. No way to book an appointment by mobile app
2. You should wait inline to know you can't get in without appointment
3. You can book an appointment by call ONLY day or FEW days before
4. Staffing person was crying on me with newborn because I asked her about visiting rules! And visiting rules aren't obvious ANYWHERE. Two more kids were waiting for me at home with babysitter.

Long wait in the hot and stuffy elevator lobby. Minimal ventilation. Half an hour wait (not bad compared to other reviewers) even I booked my appointment. Same one staff handling registration, payment transaction and the blood work. Staff appeared more friendly after you chat her up. Not a pleasant experience even with no expectation.

This place is terrible! I was told to wait in line with my appointment. After being behind 40 minutes, there was 9 people waiting in line and still not one staff member came out to greet anyone. This is by far the worst customer service I've ever seen. The staff working here should be embarrassed.

The office is huge with many rooms. Unfortunately the day I went there was a shortage of staff so I waited a longer for my apppointment due to lots of people lined up in and outaide lab.

I made my appointment online. That is the key, folks! It is easy to make an appointment (and it is just as easy to cancel if you change your mind).
Anyway, there was a bit of a lineup in the hallway. The staff will come out and receive customers. It took me under 20 minutes to get in and out of there. And this was done during lunch hour on a Wednesday. I have no complaint at all. The staff was friendly as well.

So angry! We got here at 2pm because our allergist referred us to come to this location. We tried calling multiple times to see if they can get our daughter’s blood test done but the line was constantly busy. My daughter’s 6 months old and it’s already stressful enough that we have to be out during COVID. When we arrived the sign outside said please wait outside for the technician to come get you. By 2: 20 a technician came out took in a lady in front of us, but didn’t say a word to us and removed the sign. We stood outside for awhile until a line up was built up behind us so my husband went in to ask if we should continue to wait outside? They told us it was okay for us to go in. After stand in the line for a while and seeing multiple workers walked by, no one acknowledges my daughter and I. By 2: 40 finally a technician asked are you getting blood work done for the little one? I said yes and was rejected to be looked after today because “it requires two technician to operate on infant. ” To be honest I wished someone would of told me right away when they saw my daughter sitting in my arms for the last 40 mins. Instead, I was told sorry we are closing at 3pm. I’m really upset of these people’s work ethics.

Terrible and very weak customer service, I had an appointment for 1: 10 and I was there 12: 50. It took 1 hour to take my test. I do not recommend here at all

Really really long wait. I arrived at 645am and it took didn’t get my blood drawn until 830am.
The issue was not the covid protocols because I was not screened and I didn’t see anyone screened prior to entering the office. There wasn’t even hand sanitizer. The issue was that you only have two phlebotimists on without a clerk. Those poor staff members should not have to deal with that volume of patients. Thank you!

This is the best life lab experience I have had in Markham thus far. The two ladies that were there doing blood work were very friendly and nice. Not to long of a wait either, I arrived around 830 and was back at my car just before 9.
