I was looking for a good MMA (Thai boxing and Brazilian jujitsu) gym that had a variety of class times as well as a little weights area so I didn't have to get multiple memberships. This hits all the boxes. I just wish I was in better shape.

Amazing BJJ gym and training. I am always pumped for class! Professor Lin teaches the importance of technique, and the importance of being consistent in attending class. Great, and friendly staff, and covid procedures are all in place! They have partner and non-partner drills. Striking and BJJ. Gi or No-gi. Clean gym, and great people! Any age, any level. Different payment plans, and first time discounts! There is a place for you here!

Lin Martial Arts is a great facility to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Steve Lin has a unique method of teaching BJJ that really cements the fundamentals.

Great place to train, i am sad that i have to leave because i moved to another city.
But i do hope that there are some submission tech initiative taught in bjj high grade class though. It’s great to build a solid foundation and all, but it’s kinda unsatisfying to not be able to do any submission even after more than 6 months of training

This is an absolutely life changing experience for me and my two girls. They both joint this location late 2019. It was just my wishful thinking at the beginning (want them to be strong, both physical and mental) but then it turned out to be a big surprise for me. THEY LOVE TO GO TO BJJ HERE! I never imagine my girls are going to like any extra curriculum because it never happened for all the other classes I signed them up for before. The passion my girls have towards BJJ is 100% the effort of the coaches here. They put a lot of efforts on improving the class. They know what’s important for kids and how to get them activicly involved. They also constantly adjust class content/ format of the class so it suits the kids better and better. I really feel grateful for having these coaches for my kids. I will definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants their kids to have any sort of physical training. I don’t have to ask mybkids to go to the class because they will happily ask me to bring them to BJJ class. I don’t have to force them to practice what they learnt in class at home, because they will happily practice by themselves.and this is not only my thoughts, other parents I talked to felt the same way. And every kids in the class seems enjoying themselves. What’s more important than the kids love it, right? You will understand what I’m talking about once you come to see yourself!

Master Lin is exactly that, a master.
I'm half his age (if not younger) with 25-30 pounds over him, and he is able to totally control me, even when he is only able to use one hand.
One Hand!
I knew he'd beat me, but to feel it happening, and see it while it's happening it's laughable how easy it was for him.
The look on his face was like he was reading a newspaper, while I was struggling just to keep my balance.
Just goes to show you that technique can overcome almost any disadvantage.

Professor Lin is a Black belt that is full of skill and knowledge. More important than that is that he can teach in a way that makes it so simple. I have only been training with him for 4 months and look forward to many many more. Oss

I have been training Brazilian Jiujitsu at Lin Martial Arts in Markham for about 11 years and the experiences, skills and personal relationships that I have gained since I’ve started are all life changing. Aside from the expert instruction in jiujitsu and the amazing training space, Steve Lin really has created a safe space for all people to start and enjoy a martial arts lifestyle. Wether you are looking to become a competitive fighter or looking for a fun place to get in shape, Lin Martial Arts is definitely a place that you can count on.
I decided to try jiujitsu because of some injuries that I acquired skateboarding. As a student in teachers college I wanted to stay fit but not have to show up to school and work with injuries. I started here with zero jiujitsu experience as a student and through the years I have had the experience of competing in tournaments and I have learned techniques can help me protect myself and people I care about. Being a member has also afforded me the chance to learn how to teach BJJ in our instructor program. A lot of these skills help me everyday in the classroom and at home with my own kids. It’s an awesome gym and community to be a part of!

I've been a student of Lin Martial Arts for almost 15 years. Professor Lin's intricate knowledge and passion for the art of Brazilian Jujitsu is like no other. The students at Lin Martial Arts come from all walks of life; they are kind, welcoming and helpful. Newcomers and veterans of the art alike train and improve together. The team atmosphere of Lin Martial Arts is pervasive. The club is clean and large. I often weight train on site as well. If you are looking to try something new, meet new friends, and feel confident and empowered, this is the best place in the city to do just that!

Great professor and amazing coaches. They are always willing to answer questions. There's tons of mat space and the class hours just fit my schedule perfectly.

If you live in the Markham Region, this is the place to train at! I have had nothing but positive experiences here. The instruction is top level (3rd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu) and its home of the 30 day free trial. I Strongly RECOMMEND this academy! Try it out and change your life!

I joined for a year and a half but I had to move out of province, so I attempted to cancel my membership. I signed the paperwork and followed the process with the head trainer and he assured me that my membership was cancelled, we even shook hands on it and I told em I'd be back if I ever moved to Toronto. The next month I found out I was charged again, and I called in to get them to explain it they told me my membership was cancelled but gave me the whole 'processing time' excuse and refused to refund the month's membership. I let it slide because I was out of province and I couldn't go in to chat with them to sort it out. The next month I was charged again, at which point I had called in again and but the same 'yeah, no worries, your membership is definitely cancelled, but we're not going to give you your money back'. I had enough of it so I went to my bank to pay for a stop payment. The funny thing was, they kept trying to charge me for months after I had the stop payment on.

If you want to join a gym that charges you long after you cancel your membership, don't hesitate to start today! What a headache this whole ordeal was. It's one thing to 'accidentally' charge a month and tell you otherwise, AFTER following their paperwork and their process, this is just straight up malicious. They knew exactly what they were doing. Sheesh!

I been on and off of Jiu Jitsu for 20 years and seen the Toronto Jiu Jitsu scene grow from almost the beginning. Also been to a few schools during my time. And in my opinion Lin martial arts is one of the best places to train in Toronto

Lin Martial Arts is a Dojo that methodically develops its attendees into competent martial artists. Though there is a striking program, I'm mainly interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and to that end I'm satisfied to the point that this place fulfills all my needs. The locale is excellent, featuring 3 large training areas, lots of natural light, showers and exercise equipment that will meet most people's training requirements. However, the facet I enjoy most is the high quality, meticulous instruction with techniques that work and prove their efficacy on the mats day in and day out. As I write this I realize there is a lot to this place I enjoy that I take for granted, such as the company of my peers and how having a great roll will bring us closer together, figuratively of course ;) Overall, there is a good vibe here. I signed up my 9 year old daughter and she loves it as well, so I know their kids program is pretty on point. Come check it out!

As someone who’s been around GTA’s MMA community for 16 years, I’ve managed and trained at quite a few gyms with several coaches over the years and I’ve watched the community evolve. There are very good reasons why Lin’s has been around for as long as it has, all the while, producing great mixed martial artists. Professor Lin has a very cerebral approach to martial arts and has developed a tried and true system. In short time, the gym will feel like home and your training partners will become like family. These are the most important ingredients for the best growth potential for any martial artist.

Was searching for a martial arts gym close to home and stumbled upon Lin Martial Arts. Signed up online and got a message saying I would get a call within 24 hours AND THEY CALLED WITHIN 24 HOURS! Nearly dropped my phone. Very impressed by the professionalism. The coaches, staff and Professor Lin are all very personable, passionate, and technical in what they teach. Lin MMA has an open and welcoming ambiance. Lin Martial Arts has helped me become better not just as a martial artist, but a better person as well. I only regret not starting sooner and not taking before and after photos.

If you are serious about learning the amazing and highly effective art of Jiu Jitsu, you should learn from Professor Steve Lin. He taught me more than BJJ. He is a highly intelligent man with a huge heart. He will change your life for the better. Forever grateful.

When I decided I want to try this place only because it's close to my home, I wasn't sure if it's a good place for me at the moment. Now it's already 1 year and a half since I began training at this place. I feel like I am lucky I just hit the right place the first time Haha. The coaches are very good at teaching and sharing their experience. The class structure is also very well designed and organized for different levels of people. Due to busy work schedule I can't go to all classes as many as I want, but I am glad there are classes at noon time week days, early and late evenings, and weekends, so I can always pick up times good for me. Each coach has a bit different teaching styles and quite distinct personality, strict, easygoing, cool, but they are all very patient to show you the technique if you ask, actually even before you ask if they spot you doing something incorrect. There's also a coach always stay very late and always ready to roll and teach if you ask.you know who if you're a member here.

Also I feel people here are generally more humble and polite than people in the place I work. People train here are from different backgrounds, semi athletes, yoga teachers, chiopractor, so besides martial arts, you may find yourself learn a few other things from them. Every one is generous to share what they know.

Training in this Gym has become an important part of my life, there are a few times I intended to go Home depot, Costco, but find myself driving towards the Gym lol. Strang and unexplainable, each time I enter the gym, I instantly feel my spirit uplifted, not sure it's the mat smell, the music, the familiar faces, or noises from kids class.

I will say this is absolutely a good place for youngsters, kids, or older guys like myself. Training a martial art is more challenging than other regular work out activities, but there's a great feeling that you are able to take challenges, going above average, to me there's no better feeling than you are seeing yourself getting stronger and stronger, physically and mentally.

So if you are still looking, thinking about going to a martial arts place, come try here.

Growth mindset oriented environment, all the staff is supportive and encouraging. I'd highly recommend it for anyone, especially those who have never done Jui Jitsu as I was one of those people. I have greatly benefited on and off the mats thanks to this school. Thank you

I've been to a couple gyms and this is by far one of the best gyms I have ever been to. Everyone is very technical and friendly, the environment promotes growth. I highly recommend anyone wanting to try Jiujitsu/Muaythai to check it out.

Lin Martial Arts has been a very welcoming community and has a great atmosphere to train in. I have wanted to join a Martial Arts gym for a long time and it has been a life changing experience. Professor Steve Lin is one of the best BJJ/MMA coaches you will find anywhere and has a number of great instructors who take their time to show you how things are done the right way! Highly recommended for anyone interested in MMA!

Lin Martial Arts is by far the best place in the GTA to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Boxing. With such a wide array of friendly, professional, and knowledgable instructors on hand, learning self-defence (and getting in great shape while doing it) has never been more thrilling. Not once have I ever felt intimidated or left-out while coming to a class, and I've made a lot of lifelong friends throughout the process. I know this gym will be a great fit for anyone. My only regret is not starting sooner.

After looking for a high quality Martial Arts studio to train in BJJ and Striking a student of mine recommended Lin Martial Arts! Professor Lin has created a welcoming, clean professional studio! He has created a very well thought out curriculum that takes students from an Introductory level and up! He has trained a group of Coach’s that are well informed, who are personable, who move you through the practice in an informed and safe manner! The community of students as well as coaches are friendly and approachable! If you are looking for a top notch Martial Arts Studio to train and develop your skill level, this is the place for you

Joined this gym in 2011, and since then have not found another gym where the professor breaks down the details of each and every technique to the level where Professor Steve and the other coaches do. The curriculum is second to none and the techniques are proven to work whether for self defense on the streets or in competition! Highly recommend!
