Little Rays Reptile Zoo and Nature Centre- Hamilton

This is an unassuming spot in a strip mall that has so much to discover. There are some pretty impressive creatures there. I think the main draw of this place is their intimate live shows. They're different every time and the next one starts 15 minutes after the end of the last one. My kids got to hold a tarantula and pet a caiman, an armadillo, and a skunk! Just make sure to wear layers. The place is pretty warm, even in the winter, due to the needs of the animals. My son keeps asking to go back and we were just there this morning!

We went today to surprise a relative for her 60th birthday with the Sloth Encounter. I can't say enough good things about this place and our host Braedon. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. The animals there are clearly very cared for and treated with the utmost respect and kindness. The experience far surpassed any expectations we had.

Visiting Little Rays Reptile Zoo was unforgettable experience as we got to hold and pet numerous lizards and snakes. Our curator Sophie was vey knowledgeable and was very patient and caring with the children who chose to pet and hold the reptiles. We also were thrilled to see the sloths and alligator and crocodile.

Was a little small not much to see. The show was neat though. Pricey for what it was and the charge to see the sloth was a bit much.

Small place with a great staff. Valia (hopefully spelt right) was amazing and made our day. She was soo kind and knowledgeable and showed us many of the reptiles. My son loved holding the tarantula.

Definitely worth the visit for unique animal experiences. Amazing interactive shows! Totally loved it. Will be back next time for the sloth encounters!

We visited with our kids and did the private tour. Our guide was incredible! He engaged with the kids and was very knowledgeable. Would reccomend this place to anyone!

AMAZING! My 10 year old grandson loves anything sloth related. The fact that he could feed and hold a real sloth for 40 minutes was the best experience we have had together. Our adventure continued with us holding a TARANTULA and 3 snakes, petting an alligator, ferret, tortoise and an armadillo. Shows to watch and information to read at each reptile enclosure. A great day we will remember forever.

We went for a private tour for my daughter's bday. We had Braydon (I beleive was his name) as our guide and he was amazing. He was so knowledgeable and the facts he was telling us about each reptile came natural for him and flowed smoothly. He was very patient with my youngest daughter and her millions of questions and kid babble. Overall everyone was super friendly and I am recommending this centre to everyone I know. We definitely will be back soon. We had no idea such a cool place existed so close to home.

We did a Zoo tour for our son’s 7th birthday and it was fantastic! Paul who did our tour was great with the kids, knowledgeable and hilarious. We had a great time!

We went for the sloth private tour. My daughter had the most exciting experience with Iris the sloth. So adorable. We were able to hold and feed the sloth.
Paul was excellent and very friendly. I look forward to going there again!

Absolutely amazing experience for the family. Abi was phenomenal and her incredible knowledge of the sloths and other animals helped to make the time very enjoyable. I highly recommend doing the sloth encounter and spending time seeing all the other incredible creatures.

A local gem! Amazing knowledgeable staff. Wonderful with children. Made our visit very special. 7 high energy children including a toddler were entertained, and had an awesome time. Parking is available in the plaza. Reptiles look healthy and well taken care of. Establishment is clean! It's definitely worth a visit to RAYS. Adults, and children alike will have a fantastic learning adventure. If I am ever visiting the area again, we would love to revisit.

I can not say enough great things about our experience at Little Rays! We went for a private guided tour for my son's birthday and it is 100% worth every penny! Paul (our guide) was funny, knowledgeable, engaging and kept my 9 year old and his friend interested for the entire tour! Thank you SO much for such a wonderful experience! HIGHLY recommend to anyone!

Awesome time celebrating a little girl turning 4. Spent the day there with friends and family. The kids enjoyed it a lot. Got to pet and hold some of the reptiles and arachnids.

Abby came to our house to do the reptile show for a birthday party and it was great.kids loved it!

We had an amazing family time here for our grandson's 12th birthday. Alyssa was our tour guide and she did a fabulous job. She is very knowledgeable. Also Brad and Josh were very nice and all helpful and kind. Great job you guys.

The critters are, of course, the biggest draw here, but the people running the place make it that much better. They go out of their way to make sure you have fun, few comfortable, and learn a bit while you’re there.

We have been to African Lione Safari MANY times and have enjoyed the Little Ray shows. Today, it was super hot, my young infant was tired and the little ray keeper refused my stroller into the show. There was plenty of other mamas with their littles and strollers. It was horrible, I couldn’t leave my two young children to watch the show and he told me if I had a problem to write a review on your page. HERE IT IS! The keepers name was Kevin’s extremely rude and unprofessional. Absolutely disappointed with him along with the others who witnessed the whole situation. I hope they also write a review and feedback with the poor service today. I have a video and images of the other strollers which were the same full sized strollers as mine and the empty space along the first section of the bleachers.
I will not recommend having this keeper directing traffic or helping others because he was horrible and rude!

The absolute best experience. A core memory for sure and worth the money. The little rays reptiles team is so engaged and enthusiastic when speaking about their animals. Will definitely be going back. We loved Olive so much!

The "Reptile Man (Paul) " was awesome. It was an excellent visit, showing, holding and explaining. We learned a lot of thing about the reptiles, spiders and sloth that we didn't know before

It was not advised that your location has changed. It is so much smaller. It only took us a few minutes to walk through. It felt like a small pet store. Sorry but it was a huge disappointment for me and my wife

Big thanks to our guide Abby, who made our sloth encounter with Olive a memorable one. Olive is so sweet and Abby shared plenty of sloth facts with us. We had the opportunity to hold and feed Olive and ask all our burning questions. We also had the opportunity to see a number of reptiles throughout the facility. The animals seem well taken care of (we love that they have a CAZA accreditation) and the facility was clean (but a review I saw complaining of smell may have been a visit timed around when a sloth did its business-which occurs once a week or less frequently from what I gathered). We went in the afternoon on a weekday and had VIP treatment with no other patrons at the zoo. We didn't feel rushed, there was a good variety of animals, and the staff were friendly. Altogether the sloth encounter and a look around the zoo can be done in about an hour.

We went on a private tour through the zoo in the early evening. The guides were very knowledgeable and explained each species with great detail. We were able to hold or pet some creatures and enjoy watching an alligator be offered food and "Croc chow. " It was a very interesting experience!

Great experience. My family and I purchased the VIP Sloth experience. What a great experience it was. Paul was a phenomenal guide, he was funny and his knowledge of all the animals was unparalleled. Our kids and my wife and I had a great time.

One of the best experiences of my life. Had a private session that my boyfriend surprised me with and I think it was (the amazing) Paul who was with us, way too distracted by the Sloth. Getting the chance to hold and feed a sloth? Who can even say they had that experience before?
Anyway, yes. 10/10 recommend this place to anyone and everyone. The staff love and care for the animals, as well as have extensive knowledge about everything related to animals, not to mention a great sense of humor.

My son received a ticket for a private tour for his birthday and it couldn't have been a more perfect experience. Our tour guide, Bronwyn, was very knowledgeable and patient with my 2 little kids on the tour. She was great with the animals, and my kids thoroughly enjoyed getting to pet and hold plenty of the reptiles. The animals there were incredible!
The whole family learned lots and can't stop talking about our time there!

It was AWESOME. Great tour. The kids LOVE IT. Worth every dollar. Great activity for kids and the family. The guide we had was FANTASTIC (her name started with a B lol. I don't want to spell it incorrectly) and very knowledgeable and friendly. The kids love having the opportunity to even interact with some of the animals which even enhanced the experience. Even the big kids aka the parents had a great time too. I recommend as a must go to activity for kids Good activity for multiple families and grandparents. First time visit to this location and truly happy with everything! I came here for a sloth encounter and fell in love with the baby sloth! Friendly staff, animals are awesome and I’m very happy to have visited. The staff there are so kind and love making you smile. This was the most surreal and amazing experience I have ever had! We got to feed and pet a sloth! Bronwin (the lady who lead the sloth tour) was phenomenal! She is super knowledgable and kind. They care very deeply for the animals. The animals are highly loved and very well taken care of here. If the location was closer, I probably visit every week! This is a fantastic place. It looks small, but don’t let that stop you. The guides are top, with lots of knowledge, super friendly and honest. We had Browning (I hope I am getting her name right) and my kids were super engaged with her, as her love and passion transpired. With got to pet lost of animals including a super friendly and scary Tarantula. Don’t miss this place. The crocodiles will give you shivers.

She was super patient with all of them, even though some kept interrupting her. I was really impressed with her patience as well as her knowledge of the animals and her interactions and conversation with the children. We took the private tour with sloth encounter for our daughter's 5th birthday. Ms B was an amazing guide! She was very informative about the animals and patient with our girls and all their questions. We loved meeting the animals, especially Olive the sloth who we got to pet and feed. Great experience!

My family and I (6 adults, 2 kids, and a baby) booked a COVID-friendly private tour of the zoo today. It was so incredible and fantastic value for money! Our guide, Bronwyn, was amazingly knowledgeable about all of the animals. We got to hold and interact with many of the reptiles and my kids loved it!

Avoid wasting your money and time here. This is not a zoo. Only a small place with some miserable and sick animals. I am really surprised about the positive reviews some people have wrote. I just visited there and it was horrible! The place has an awkward odor upon entrance which even my child was complaining about it. The cages are very small, dirty and many of them empty of animals. The entrance fee is very high compared to prestigious and well known zoos in the world.
All in all, this is just a jail for some unlucky and ill animals.
