I’ve had to reschedule an appointment which for some reason means they have to push your appointment six months each time. I have two jobs and one of them is really unpredictable which means I can’t guarantee that I will even be in the country six months from now. Today the receptionist called me to remind me of an appointment and I asked if it was possible to do the appointment online, and that I felt really badly about having to reschedule/said sorry etc. She got angry at me and told me if I wanted to reschedule I could figure it out myself online and then hung up on me. She was so angry with me even though I was apologetic and just made me feel awful. This is the second interaction I’ve had here that’s made me cry. I am a receptionist myself and if I spoke that way to someone I would definitely be fired! I understand if she was having a bad day but It just sucks. Please be nicer because now my day is bad too!

I am beyond impressed with the care and knowledge displayed by Dr Malakieh. Of all the Endocrinologists I’ve had over the years, she is by far the most up to date on the technology available to treat my diabetes, usually knowing about developments before I do. She is the first Endocrinologist I’ve had where I feel she gives me the time to express my thoughts, ask questions and provide meaningful answers, and actually listens to what I am trying to say rather than just going through the motions of looking like she’s listening.

My only complaint is with LMC as a business; when trying to initiate contact with them, it is very difficult to speak with a real live human. All calls and emails seem to go to a central location and get directed from there. They DO respond and answer my needs/questions every time, you just need wait patiently for it to happen. This problem is not unique to LMC these days though, but rather indicative of the state of healthcare in Ontario in general.

They literally have no way to talk to the office on the phone. I've been on the phone for 3 min trying to access the right keys to get me to talk to front desk. So frustrating

Rude receptionist i was just asking for a schedule card so that i don’t forget my appointment and while i was aiming for the card she just threw it on the counter! The attitude lol

My doctor there is scary. As a patient, I’m scared to talk to her in fear of saying the wrong things that she will get mad at.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Peticca for several years and I have nothing but the highest regards for her. She’s a wonderful person, I’ve never had a problem getting in touch with her. Today I tried to get in touch as I’ve been having high blood sugars lately. I called her number and I pressed what I was supposed to 3 times. Three times I got my number 1 and got a busy signal no person. So today I’ve been sorely disappointed.

I had an appointment with Dr. Tailor, I asked if she could take my BP again using a stethoscope because I believe that the machine used to take your BP can be inaccurate. She immediately accused me of being confrontational. She then said SHE was in a hurry. I expressed my surprise at her accusation and that she had upset me. She then told me to calm down. I WAS calm until she accused me of being confrontational because I made a very simple request. The worst thing to say to someone who is upset is to tell them to calm down. As a Paramedic with 34 years experience and something called Street Smarts telling someone to calm down has the complete opposite effect. Dr. Tailor's deportment is inappropriate, unwelcome and unprofessional. I had to leave the appointment because I heard enough of Dr. Tailor's bad attitude. Telling a patient that THEY are in a hurry proves this Dr.is clearly not interested in you as a patient they are more interested in your OHIP Card.

My wife had been booked to be seen by Dr. Peticca for a year and when the appointment was 1 week away we are informed by the front desk clerk over the phone that the doctor has dropped my wife as a patient and that her family doctor will have to send in a new referral and when that was done we were informed that Dr. Timothy O'Leary would be taking the case and then literally 2 weeks from my wife's new appointment date we have been informed again that she needs to be rescheduled for 6 weeks away because the doctor is going on vacation like where the hell is the professionalism with LMC like if the doctor wanted to go on vacation then why can't he schedule for a time and date when he doesn't have patients like every other professional doctor who literally has the front desk book off the number of days that the doctor will be gone for and have them book around those dates like every good doctor. I am so disappointed in how LMC has been doing business that I actually want to find out how to make a serious complaint and get a reprimand given to the doctors that aren't doing there jobs properly.

Horrible customer service. You cannot call and speak to someone without waiting a minimum of 20 minutes, and when you finally get through you have the pleasure of speaking with someone who treats you as though you are inconveniencing them by calling. Due to construction and heavy traffic on Stranheard we arrived 1 minute late for the appointment and were refused service and told that if we were going to be late we should have called, which is nonsense since you cannot call in without being on an extended hold. In order to notify them that we would be late, we would have to be psychic as the drive is shorter than the time we spent on hold. SHAMEFUL

UPDATE They booked an appointment on the Monday of the long weekend. The appointment did not show up in the booking app until late Friday. Sine they do not pick up, there was no way to confirm, which left is waiting for a virtual call that never occured. Mistakes happen, however to date there has been no follow up and the appointment has not been rescheduled. It is really unfortunate that the admin staff is so rude and the booking system so glitchy as the doctor is wonderful. As Ontarians, I guess this is the price we payfor free healthcare.

My girlfriend was referred to LMC Ottawa by her doctor in 2019 after she was diagnosed with diabetes. The first appointment she cancelled the day of, due to poor sleep, due to an unrelated ongoing issue with pain. The second appointment was this week, which she missed during a 24-hour episode of drowsiness / dizziness and severe mental confusion during which I almost called 911 two different times. She is doing much better today. We called LMC and apologized profusely, explaining that we believe the drowsiness (she slept almost 24 hours straight) and mental confusion is related to the diabetes she is taking medication for. We said, please, can you help, this seems serious. The response from LMC was to book the makeup appointment for six months from now, in February 2022 - three years after the referral, with no appointment yet. This is really punitive in nature, and shows no empathy or concern for the medical problem this patient was referred to LMC for in the first place. Three years, with nobody seeing her. Really? I'm taking this matter up elsewhere, with anyone who will listen, but in the meantime, I'm leaving this here in case it helps anyone else.

I called the receptionists to change my appointment day. She told me she had cancelled the old one and had confirmed a new one for the upcoming week. I never received a phone call. I phoned back today and they said the new appointment wasn't even in the system. I now have to wait over a month for an appointment that was time sensitive and had to be dealt with this week! I am furious. If you can decide where your referral is DO NOT PICK THIS PLACE. The staff is incompetent and cannot do their jobs.

Unpleasant customer service. Given proper referral from my Diabetes Doctor and customer service was not willing to hear me out. My Diabetes Doctor had provided all proper documentation. Was supposed to be see for more then Diabetes Type 1. Was also given the run around in rescheduling multiple times my appointment to see the specialist. Customer Service failed to recognized the entire referral and not the short form summary.

Your appointment is at 9 and you have to wait for at least an hour to be seen by the Doctor. Waiting time is like a walk-in and takes forever. Ended up leaving the facility as I have other appointment to attend to. Not wanting to go back again. Wasted my time waiting going there today.

Very disappointed with this company. I was referred to LMC Ottawa for HRT treatment, and every visit has presented problems.
For the first visit, I was left to wait around 3.5 hours before being seen for a CONSULTATION. I wasn’t given any medication or treatment, I waited 3.5 hours for a 5 minute visit.
I had to reschedule my second appointment due to urgent conflicts, and was left on hold for 30 minutes before I was hung up on. As such, I rescheduled online, and thought everything was fine. Despite this, I received a letter in the mail informing me that I missed my appointment, and that they were *generously* waiving the $50 no-show fee even though I cancelled the appointment.
The third time I was there, I couldn’t get in touch with them to let them know there had been a misunderstanding with the pharmacy, and I wouldn’t have my shot ready in time for the appointment. I called and left a message so they could call back, but they never did.
Last week, I called to ask if I needed to bring in a blocker shot or if I would move on to testosterone immediately. They said they would call me back within two days. It has been just shy of a week since then, and nothing from their end.
If you value communication, do NOT go here. There is zero communication, and though the reception staff is very nice and understanding, they are unable to compensate for this.

Not impressed at all! Down right disappointed & frustrated! I have had 4 appointments and only my first one was successful. I have waited every single visit up to 3.5 hours to be seen. My last 2 appointments the doctor refused to see me because I was 7 -10 min late (at the most) due to the construction in Barrhaven, it would be nice to have the same courtesy applied to me as I have given to them. I tried calling to let them know I was going to be late but I ended up at the office before the phone was answered. An application to my insurance company to see about coverage for continual glucose monitoring was not mailed & left in the office's mailbox for 2 months with no notice to me to come and pick it up. I will be looking for a new Endocrinologist

They are virtually unreachable. 35 minute wait times on the phone, and they see no reason to respond to your emails within 24 hours. Or 48. Or 72. I will referred here by my family doctor. I will ask to change to a specialist who answers the phone.

Call the number, always greeted with "we are currently experiencing high volume of referral, it would take approximately 3 weeks, please dial 1 for ontairo, " clicked "1". " you are the 31th in the queue, the expected waiting time is approximately 30mins. ". Another fun fact is, I called around 4: 30pm, this time the greeting tone is finally changed " our office is closed, please call another time". The web site says, the clinic closes at 5pm. What a bummer! Time to move out of this clinic.

Very Unprofessional for a medical Clinic. They were suppose to send my pharmacy my prescription. After leaving the clinic I went to my pharmacy several hours later to pick up my prescription. No prescription to be found.pharmacy says they have not received any prescription. Then I tried to call the the clinic back no one would answer the phone. Then at 4: 00pm their phone number Would no longer work. Just a silent audio no ringing sound no answer machine no nothing. I could not reach the clinic to tell them they forgot to send my prescription. If I were to have any major health complications because of this Clinics negligence for forgetting to send my prescription would be a heavy civil liability towards this clinic because I was unable to control my health condition because this clinic kept me from getting my prescription. This clinic is very unprofessional. I'm thinking of finding a different Doctor somewhere else that's more professional and doesn't forget important things.

Update: Called the clinic this morning to let them know they forgot to send my prescription to my pharmacy.
Person at clinic said she confirms that they sent my prescription to my pharmacy.
I asked to confirm which pharmacy they sent my prescription to. They said the location. I then told her I already called that pharmacy right before I called the clinic and pharmacy said they never received any prescription.
She then said OK we will resend the prescription to your pharmacy right now.
I waited several hours, still no word on my prescription.
Then in afternoon clinic called and said sorry we're not gonna send the prescription because waiting on Blood lab. I then said
Oh but I thought you already sent the prescription yesterday is what I was told this morning, also the Doctor herself said while at appointment was gonna send prescription right away.
This clinic is so disorganized and lie to patients with misinformation.
How would I trust them from now on, once caught lying have no idea what else they've lied to me about.
I'm now looking for a new specialist Doctor to switch to and my Family Doctor will be referring me to someone else shortly. Cause I can't stay at this clinic because from now on what ever they say to me I will always have this situation in the back of my mind if what their saying may be a lie or not. Can no longer trust this clinic going forward.

It is not unusual to have to wait 40 minutes or more on hold before speaking to someone on the phone.

I was referred to LMC in order to diagnose my potential diabetes insipidus. I've been refused treatment because my blood & urine test results keep coming back saying I'm okay, even though I have all the textbook signs & symptoms of this disease. I've been refused a water deprivation test to properly diagnose my illness. I've been refused the meds desmopressin or hydrochlorothiazide just to see if they'd work in mitigating my symptoms.
I've given up on LMC and have seeked help from Internal Medicine. As a last slap to the face, it's been incredibly difficult just to get my hands on a copy of my medical file at LMC.
If you're dealing with a life-threatening illness and want a health care professional to take you seriously, avoid this place at all costs.

So far every experience ive had with lmc has been bad.im a transman looking to start t and get surgery referrals. After many complications, the only thing standing in my way of a prescription IS MY DOCTOR whos /supposed/ to be helping me with that.they do not care about the clients time or mental well being at all and as soon as i can get what i need im leaving to a different endo.this is ridiculous.

They don't respect appointment times. If you're late, they charge you a fee but they make you wait 45-60 minutes after your appointment time. They suggest tests but don't bother to make the appointment for them nor do they follow up on the tests.

Don't feel that they respect the client time as if it is our privilege to be there.

Doctors need to keep scheduled appointment times.

My experience in the last 4 months with the LMC Diabetes Clinic in Barrhaven has been exceptional and has had a very positive effect on my health. Through a variety of treatments, regular visits and my personal efforts, I have managed to bring down and keep down my blood sugar levels within normal range. Everyone I have interacted with from the receptionists, nurses, Physician, Chiropodist, Opthomologist, Pharmacist and Nutritionist have been personable and professional. Having all these dedicated specialists under 1 roof is so convenient. I highly recommend LMC Diabetes & Endocrinology Barrhaven.
