I was struggling to get my monitors to work with my interface.being new to it all i should of came here first before buying all the wrong XLR cables. I forgot the name of the person who helped, but very knowledgeable.

The staff at Long and Mcquade Scarborough always treat me well and are very helpful and knowledgeable. The Manager Rich, really knows alot about musical/recording equipment and the business of treating customers like #no. 1. I highly recommend Scarborough Long and Mcquade. Dave in guitar repairs and Bernie in rentals. Great customer service the whole staff rock!

We went in fully planning on spending money, but somehow the 4 employees working couldn't seem to figure out a way to sell a guitar. Upon asking the cashier on the way out if he was the only person working there he said "sometimes I feel that way". We won't be going back.

Today I purchased headphones for $249.00 DT 990 PRO AND GRETCH GUITAR FOR $779.99 WITH $99.00 DOLLAR HARDSHELL CASE. All together came to $1,254.00. I gave him $1250.00 and said can we make it final. Basically ask for 4 dollars discount. The guy turns to ADAM and asked him if it's ok to give the discount of 4 dollars. Adam looks at me and said (No). Doesn't say sorry but we cant give no discount. NO was the final answer for him. Now if this is the stuff that are employed in there I would suggest to get reed of them cause it ain't good for the business. I really mean that. I purchased Yamaha MOXFX 6 synthesizer 2 years ago from them with a missing turning nob. They newer give me a discount for the missing button and told me to call Yamaha to order a new button from them. It is sickening to have such an attitude towards costumers after spading thousands of dollars in Long & McQuade. I also bought Epiphone Guitar (the best guitar I ever owned made in Japan) for over thousand from them but asking for 4 dollars off looks like a serious problem for Adam. I seriously don't feel like going there which includes my buddies if this guys attitude doesn't improve. He can't even offer me few free guitar picks instead. Says NO and he walks away. Who hires a person like that in the first place? I'm glad that everyone knows how this man ADAM has treated me as a customer. Also there were 3 witnesses to what happened. I also know this is not stores fault but I do know the saying that goes: When cat is away mice start to play. Will call head office regarding this mans unprofessional behavior whiles the store is paying him money that includes costumer service. On the other hand I talk to LIAM. NOW that's what you call CUSTOMER SERVICE. Sold me exactly what I was looking for but this young man put his heart and soul into explaining about the headphones and Gretsch guitar I end up buying that day. Really best customer services I have seen in a long time. So now I don't understand how is this man not higher in position then ADAM. It's so mind boggling to me right now that I feel to cry. Please review this if you can because the sore needs to know what employees are doing when the Boss is not around.

Walked in not knowing a whole lot on where to start learning how to play drums. Spent a lot of time with Marcus who was patient enough to walk me through what I needed, answered all my questions and helped me pick out my new Roland TD-17KVS. After getting home and getting it all setup, I've been having a blast! Hours are just flying by!

Brought my acoustic guitar in to have its strings replaced. Had to keep it overnight but it was done early the next day. Quite satisfied!

May 2021 update****

Still a great place to shop. I came with a pickup and no screws for it. They took it inside and figured out what I needed. Very helpful in this lockdown, I thought I would have to wait to setup my guitar. Bought my acoustic here as well a couple of years back and they were super helpful then too. Thank you.

Hi there!

I'm writing this review hoping it prevents anyone from making the mistake I made.

I brought my guitar in yesterday because I had buzzing on all strings on many frets. I called in before coming and I was told they could take care of it with a setup. I drive over, and when I arrive I emphasize at the door that the frets are buzzing, and that is the exact and only issue I need fixed. Chris tells me OK, guitar goes in, I drive back home.

The following day I'm notified that my order is ready and I arrive to pick up my guitar, but to my surprise there's absolutely no change in the buzzing; the problem is still there. I tell Chris and he goes back in with the guitar to check with the technician, and there I'm told that it's a problem with the frets and it isn't solvable with a standard setup.

Now I ended up paying $75 + cost of new strings before tax. I know that this is probably a busy store and a lot goes on every day, but I wish I knew that instead of having my problem taken a look at, I was dropping off my instrument for a procedural 'setup', regardless of whether it needed it or not. I take good care of my instruments and regularly clean it, lubricate the nut and change the strings. I'd like to mention again that the only problem I needed solved was the buzzing on higher frets.

I just wish that I was told my problem wouldn't be solvable with a setup beforehand. What it ended up being for me is an expensive string change, and even my strings were new prior to the setup. I hope that in the future the communication is clear between the store and the customer.

My second issue is that I was very upset to find a scratch under my guitar when I got home. I don't know if the guitar took a bump somewhere on the workshop desk or while heading back out, but what I know for sure is that I'm absolutely careful with my instruments and I handed over a guitar with zero scratches. This guitar was a gift from my father and is very sentimental to me. While I understand accidents happen, having two negative experiences back to back really wasn't fun.

I hope that other customers don't have the same experience.

I had a less than positive experience at this location today, prompting me to drive out of the city to purchase my instruments needs from another L&M store.

Uncertain about how closures had affected the in-store shopping, and how to navigate the mobile site so I could know what was actually on the shelves, I called from the parking lot outside of the store to inquire about items that I was interested in purchasing at that moment (if at all possible).

Not knowing anything about the variety and quality of the instruments I was looking for, Bernie - the first person I spoke to - was initially helpful and directed me to the site to see what was generally available. He let me know that in-store shopping was not an option at this location, but that I could speak to someone on the phone for more information. He suggested that I call back for more specific information after I looked online as he himself was going for lunch/dinner.

As I was parked outside of the store looking through the site and instruments, I selected (with flexibility in terms of colour and price point) a few options in hopes of purchasing them at that moment. I noticed that there was only one person in line, so with a mask on, I walked to the back of the line to quickly inquire about how to navigate the site to make it easier for me, and ultimately, for the sales reps inside. (On the mobile version, I could not see a "check in store" option that I ultimately found on my laptop.)

James, the sales rep at the door, noticed me waiting behind the patron he was helping, and asked if I was there for a pick up. I let him know that I wasn't, but that I had a quick question about the site and how to know what was in store. He interrupted my response to his question, and let me know that I should go onto the site to find my answer. I responded by trying to let him know that my question WAS about the site, which he interrupted again, and told me he was with a customer and that I should go to the site.

I was immensely bothered by his impatient and rude tone as I myself was waiting patiently, and only spoke to him after he asked me a question, and then was interrupted by him when answering his questions.

I fully understood that I would not be walking into the store to look for anything, but looking for some clarification as I happened to be there. Even this, I wouldn't have done had he not been conversing and explaining pick up procedures to someone else.

I let him know that I could go to another store instead; a sentiment which he agreed with.

So, I turned around and went back to my car. I called the store and made my complaint to the woman who picked up the phone. She offered her help, which I refused, wanting to give my business to another store.

I called said store about 10 minutes later and was pleasantly surprised at the more patient and realistic (honest?) responses to my questions which were about the price of instruments when considering quality and level of the person playing the instrument. I could hear that the store was busy, but did not get the sense that I was being a nuisance as I got at the Markham and Ellesmere store.

I've been a regular visitor for years and still drop in from time to time to see what's new.

I had shopped at this location for years. Always very helpful, even though I usually only purchased strings and picks.
Friday August-25-2020, I stopped by during the last hour before closing. This time, I was shopping around for an Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro and a Boss Katana 50 MK2 amp. The guitar was off and on, discontinued so I wasn't expecting too much similar. The amp they were sold out on but they had just received one that day.
As it turns out, they had a beautiful 2020 model guitar and it was on sale. I had been looking around for a long time and was ready to buy, but I hate impulse buying - I wanted to think about it. I had absolutely no pressure from the staff and they were very helpful too when I needed it. I needed a few days to think about it. They offered to put this on hold for me, which I readily accepted, for both the guitar and amp. Again, no pressure on a Friday afternoon before closing.
You could not ask for a better environment to purchase music equipment from. Looks like I will be purchasing both guitar and amp.

Long and McQuade is the happiest place on earth. While the Scarb location is isn't as huge as the downtown location it is still staffed with genuinely great people and they had the only set of Yamaha HS5s in the city during a pandemic, so I am forever in their debt.

I went to another location before but the experience there was not that great. However, this location, the guy helped me out was super nice and knowledgeable so I'm really happy with my purchase.

Fantastic customer service! I was shopping for a stand with my dad for my new piano, bought one, returned it, got another sturdier (albeit more pricey) one.

Throughout that process I was assisted by two associates. Both of them were absolutely fantastic and it was a genuine pleasure shopping there.

You guys are killing it! Will definitely be shopping here for any music related purchases.

Went in to buy strings for my epiphone Dove
Always wanted to try the hummingbird
Pro, the salesperson looked until he found it for me. So gave it a try and loved it, long story short it came home with me

I personally love this store. The staff is quick to help.my only issue would go towards the location of the store which is usually hard to get to (narrow roads and often trucks unloading or cars parked by the entrance of the plaza)

Long and McQuade is one of the only companies I can think of who still have the same excellent service you used to expect from businesses way back when.

I've been a customer since I was a kid (L&M were a big part of so many Toronto musicians journey) and still feel excitement and trust when I go in.

This is the music store that you will want to play for! Every time I go in here I see some fantastic deals, excellent instruments, and friendly staff. The library of printed material is also quite extensive, and I found a rare exercise book for my guitar that really helped me a lot. Good job folks!

They were laughing and making fun of 16 year old/high school applicants. Stating that “they don’t know anything about music/instruments and they can’t be trusted” while my partner and I were looking at a guitar (that was not working properly and damaged). An employee even stated that he “Current has the same about knowledge about music and instruments as he did when he was 15”. Made us walk out. Not an appropriate conversation to have on the sales floor while customers, including youth are shopping.

Dave the guitar tech always does fantastic work on any guitar problems you may have. They are respectful and knowledgeable about products and instruments. If you are new to music as a student or seasoned professional they have everything you need here. Sometimes I found lower prices here than competitors online.

Love the store, been shopping mostly there, from, like, mid 90s — which is when I came to the country. A regular at the Bloor/Ossington store, some times I like and will pop by at other locations, too; always great stuff and staff. Got most of my favorite instruments from L-McQ — my Korg N1, my Strat and Tele, my 5-string bubinga Warwick.
Was away from the country 7 years, now back and glad to have this fine franchise within reach! <3

Great people and service. Had a problem work a microphone that are purchased a while back but still under warranty and they I'm taking my mic in for repairs and give me a free replacement while mine is being fixed awesome job thank you very much!

My Les Paul special had some feet buzz, I brought brought it to Long & McQuade and it was fixed in record time. They also have a variety of instruments on sale. It's a pleasant environment and the staff was helpful when asked for assistance. I would definitely return to use their services.
