Longo's Applewood

Do not buy anything from here without thoroughly inspecting every item. If it is an item with an expiry date then check the expiration date. Don't be surprised if you find items a week past due. If it fruits check for mold and damage. For example for solid fruits like apples check for soft spots. For soft fruits like strawberries, check for mold. If you buy packaged vegetables that have holes like sprouts then check for the presence of cockroaches. And forget about buying bread. I am not entirely too sure what this store is doing but it needs to train its employees on how to handle produce. The only great thing this store has is cashiers. They are extremely friendly.

This place has really gone downhill. Make sure you check your receipts after you cash out because often times they put promos and sales when the actual item hasn’t been marked down. It happened to me for the third time today and luckily I checked the price and they honoured it. Everything is expensive and the quality and amount is less than other stores. I won’t be shopping here anymore.

Only complaint is the prices are high!

We moved to the neighbourhood a couple of months ago, and Longo's Applewood is a 5-min drive away. Are they pricey? Well, compared to discount grocery chains and Walmart, yes they are (for the most part).

- Their produce is the best we've seen available and is comparably priced to other stores' produce cost-wise.
- The free range eggs we typically buy at Walmart are the same price at Longo's.
- Every staff member we've spoken with has been extremely helpful and personable.
- The shelves are always stocked! Personally we haven't had any issues with expiry dates but we will take a look based on some of the reviews below.

We used to go to Farm Boy at Browns Line and Evans, but they are officially nowhere near as good as Longo's Applewood. Hopefully our honeymoon phase with Longo's lasts ;)

They sell Apeel products. It's a toxic coating. Currently they have organic Apples that are coated in Apeel

I like collecting points and the prices are pretty good, especially if you can get things on sale or buy the Longo's brand.
However, I have had multiple instances of buying an item and when I go to use it, it's past the expiry date. I know it's partly my fault for not checking, but someone needs to be looking into this at the seller's level too. This needs to be better so people don't have to come back to return spoiled items.
Edited to say, not sure why my review was commented on as positive, I'm saying this is an issue to be looked into.

Long time customer, since they opened this location.
I am extremely disappointed by what I see in this store, the prices just keep climbing. I buy pretty much the same items every week. Over the past two weeks I have noticed a sharp increase in the already high prices. Every item I bought today is atleast $2 dollars higher. Two chicken breast normally $6. ** were $9. *** today. Angus round steak normally $5. *** today $7. ***

I think it's time to start shoping else where.

I just went to this location 30m ago. Asked for sourdough bread. The employee said she was very busy. When I was served she said it couldn't slice it because the bread was too hot for it. I was ok with it. I just got home the the bread is totally frozen inside. I guess I drove so fast I went back in time!

One of the nicer longos layout and bathrooms upstairs well kept but know your prices. Produce is always good relative to bargain markets. Tgeirbin house labeling is also cheaper than known brands but they been to add food ingredients lists and amounts on most items so best to ask if you have Sodium and sugar etc concerns

Very rude bakery staff. I came around 9am to buy some bread. I waited 10 minutes by the bakery section while two staff members were looking at me from the cake section. So I walked over to ask if anybody is working in the bakery section. They became rude by saying why? I said because I would like some bread? They said oh? Yeah I am working there. So I was like can you help me? They said sure and never came over to me. I ended up waiting another 3 minutes for another staff member to help me.
Maybe teach your staff some customer service skills and when they see a person waiting by the counter, maybe walk over and assist them? Instead of getting rude when they ask for help

I enjoy shopping here. The store is smaller but it’s in a great location. The staff is friendly, so I like to grab a coffee at the Starbucks and take my time shopping.

Been a big fan of Longo's for many years. Locations are convenient, and they manage to balance quality, variety, and price quite well.

The store is clean, lots of options to choose from and the quality of the food is decent for the most part. The bakery is great and I always find myself picking-up more treats than we should eat when I shop there.

Staff is mostly good, my only complaint is sometimes a group of staff will stand in the front chatting away with each other and block an isle. You'd think it would be kid workers but it's the adults and it's annoying as they should know better.

The prices here are very high so it's best to buy produce, meats, and buy the boxes/bagged foods from another store for much cheaper.

Despite these complaints I'm still rating it as a 4-star because the food quality is really good here. Unlike another store I go to for the cheaper prices, I've never gotten sick from the meat or found my food to be expired or moldy/rotten when opened.

This has been our go to grocery for the last 2 years and they are consistently meeting our expectations. And we also love Lucy she is a sweetheart and super friendly!

I went this particular location for first time on a Sunday afternoon. All the staff members were so helpful and generous. Except the lady on the bakery. She was absolutely rude and was so mean to me. Probably not gonna go back there.

I must say. I am a WALMART shopper but I cannot stay away from this LONGOS.the staff, the freshness and the service, simply outstanding. ITALIANS really do it better:)

We usually go to this Longo and usually have great experiences with my friends that work there. However, today I tried a social experiment where 15 dollars fell on the floor and someone took it instead of giving it then they had the audacity to give me attitude which I don’t mind doing charity work but the need for attitude was crazy. Lastly, the new young teenagers at the Starbucks need to work on not only their 20mm lashes but their prejudice attitude as well as horrible customer service. Don’t blame customers for your lack of knowledge my loves I promise life is great cheer up love you all & always do the right thing I mean that from the bottom of my heart

For the price you pay at Longo's, the fruit is not fresh, yesterday at the oranges and mandarins were brown and many had mould.
