I have shopped at nearly every Longos throughout the GTA, for two decades.
We are going to complain to corporate on top of this and definitely blacklist your Fairview location until things change.

Today my relative and I were followed by two employees: a stout man with a cart and a middle aged woman by his side acting as enforcer. We dress well, have our wallets and purse with us, like any other decent typical Longos shoppers. We spend hundreds of dollars every month at Longos, but today, we were treated like we were bad people. Why? Two disgruntled employees, who are not good at "vetting" those who come into the store, all because we carried a RED LONGOS REUSABLE BAG and a SOBEYS REUSABLE BAG. I bring my reusable bags often to other Longos locations and never get treated like this. Instead we were condescended by these two employees, who I cannot entirely blame, as they're trained to stalk us around the store, because its easier to mistreat paying customers!

By the way, moments before this incident, WE actually HELPED one of your bakers pick up "fraktals treats" after the baker knocked into them, and dropped a tray of muffins! She thanked us! Thus, those other two staff mistreated us EVEN after witnessing us helping staff, what a disappointment!

Anyway, my female relative realized a good sale on Christmas cookies which were only located at the entrance vestibule, so as she was walking back to the vestibule to get them, the two "spies" approached her and the female employee said (to her only) in condescending suspicious tone "do you guys need HELP with anything? " with a non helpful expression on her face. My relative said "thanks I am just getting more cookies from the vestibule since that's the only place they're located" and the employee gave her a dead stare!
When my relative was walking back to me in the bread aisle, she then overheard that SAME employee PURPOSELY say within her earshot in conversation with 2 other employees "I HATE when people bring their own bags! " as if to NOT SAY IT DIRECTLY to my relative's face, but to make sure she heard it anyway!

1) The employee was being passive aggressive. Instead of just directly saying "we don't allow reusable bags" she went the weak route and made us feel like criminals.
2) We were obviously shopping and looking at gifts for a gift basket. Your staff made us feel unwelcome.

3) Just because you supposedly deal with thefts on the regular doesn't mean all of us should be hounded and stalked.
Shortly after leaving, I got my relative to call the store and complain. Of course, her complaint fell on people who don't care, and train staff to be the "guards". Fail.

My suggestions: Since you even told us on the phone that due to the Fairview Burlington location dealing with so many thefts, and so many attempted loser thieves, as reason for not allowing bags, WHY NOT put MORE STAFF at the self checkouts? Or eliminate self checkout? Or why not have staff watch EVERY move of the people who might be "not scanning" items, and better yet, hire security! Most importantly, make it more clear and enforce it at the doors that you don't want people using their damn reusable bags, which you sell, by the way.

Secondly, make it a MANDATORY AND CLEAR POLICY that you don't want people using reusable bags! Otherwise, you're stressing out your staff in the store and making the grocery store an unpleasant place for everyone. You need to tell corporate and get them involved! Other stores are already implementing anti theft barriers and security, so the least you could do is refuse reusable bags and enforce it AT THE DOORS instead of stalking us all and making us feel like criminals! Shameful. We visited December 21st 2023 at 11am!

You all had better start caring more about how you approach the public because word gets around! And now I see your reply and thank you, that is the only email I could find.

Price GOUGE alert!
Went to buy a Black Forrest Ham today in Burlington Ontario for Thanksgiving dinner.
Longo's price: $24.90 per kilogram.
Marilu's price: $12.49 per kilogram.
No sale advertisement, just regular pricing.

I don't care what excuse Longo's has for this, in my humble opinion, this is price gouging!

Government of Ontario and Government of Canada, get on this please!

I often come here for fresh produce and the odd times dinner for nights that I don’t want to cook. I also find that this store has a nice selection of baked goods and nice cakes for occasions. Staff is often friendly here also.

Very good store. If you have pets, I've found they have cheaper products for them than the pet store in the same plaza.

Compared to the Oakville location it is inferior by far. Bakery and kitchen is severely lacking. No muffins or prepared chicken before 9am on a Tuesday is pathetic. Also the staff bickering with each other on the floor in the back all the time is awkward. The cashiers are awesome and are the most consistent and the most valuable element to this location

Haven't shopped in Burlington for months being away for winter. Found prices quite high but always quality and great selection at Longos.

The people over the cake counter - every time I come say "hi" " please " and "thank you ", they don't even smile a bit and keep showing me attitude every time like I distract them to do something, jesus.

They are quite expensive. If you're looking for decent sushi or poke bowls, they have them here.

Such a shame, I’ve loved this store for many years but I doubt if I’ll be coming here anymore because it’s changed. The last three times (at least) they were out of their own refrigerated Alfredo sauce which I absolutely love. They also sell my favourite cranberry or blueberry quinoa muffins which they are continually out of. In fact the display and their bakery department looked fastly different than it did in the flyer. There was only one cash register opened and I waited far too long. The last time I was told I only had a few things so I could go to the customer service checkout counter. Then they told me I could use the self check out and I said I will never use them. They wasted 10 minutes trying to talk me into doing their job for them. I can’t imagine I’m the only one that has noticed this store going downhill over the last little while. Very disappointed.

Was wanting Campbell’s tomato soup so my husband went in and a small can was $2.99. I told him forget it not worth it. Then I find out Walmart sells them for. 97 cents and that’s all they are worth. Checked Amazon and ordered 4 for $5.56 ($1.39 each). How can you justify $2.99 a tin

The strawberry tarts! Do not forget to pick one (or more!) on your way out! Absolutely fantastic.
