My interaction with Kaitlyn on August 18th 2020

At 7pm yesterday I made my way down to this location, it is blocks from my house and have had many positive interactions with the staff. This however was not the case on this evening. As I entered the store I sterilized my hands and started to walk toward the counter. Kaitlyn immediately asks for me to leave my small bag at the counter. Now I understand that this location is downtown, but since I come here all the time and have never been asked that it caught me off guard. With COVID we are all tense about what we touch and where we put things down. I wasn’t comfortable with this so I asked if it would be possible to keep it on because I was uncomfortable about germs. She immediately leads in with “Well how do I know you’re not going to steal something? ”

Now I will tell you I have worked retail for 20 years and as a manager on the sales floor I have lots of experience in how to handle a situation in which you are concerned about shoplifting. Loss prevention is important, I understand that, but Kaitlyn provided a perfect example on how NOT to deal with this situation. Had she shown some compassion, and actually had a dialogue with me instead of immediately accusing me I wouldn’t be writing this now. I know that one customer won’t make the difference, but when you have spent hundreds of dollars at a business and you receive that treatment, what kind of shopping experience was she expecting me to have? Put the bag down and then patronize the business after being called a thief? After leaving and coming back inside to ask for her name to follow up on this experience and explain why what she did was unprofessional, she stood with hands on hips and eye rolling. As I left the store she came outside and photographed me, which is SO inappropriate. The store has cameras and there is no reason after complaining about bad service this gave her the right to photograph me. I have to say this is exactly how to loose a customer. There are many different stores like this in the region and it only took one unprofessional employee to end my relationship with the Love Shop. 


Go somewhere else if you want to be treated properly.

I go there frequently and have always had good service and knowledgeable staff helping me and advising me on the products i have bought.

I went to exchange a product yesterday and the girl i had yesterday was super nice and helpful, but she accidentally gave back my defective product. I came back today (8: 30pm) to exchange it again and the girl i had today was super rude and mean to me for no reason. I told her my situation that the girl yesterday accidentally gave me back my broken product instead of the one that works. The girl today was super rude about it and argued with me that the one i had didnt have a cord, but i was telling her over and over that it was in the box and the girl from yesterday gave me back my original one with the cord. She continued to fight with me about it but i was nothing but nice to her and didnt get mad to the girl today, and she glared at me, continued to argue and fight with me and saying i should have a cord at home for the other one when i only got back the one i had with the cord. She finally looked at the box that i was telling her there was a cord in, gave me the cord for the product that wasnt defective and sent me on my way. (Glaring the entire way out) Unsure how someone in retail can act like that and get away with it.

Waited about 15 mins for the lady to get off the phone, and when she did she still never asked if I needed help and started merchandising displays. I had to go ask her for help. She seemed annoyed when I asked for some help. I asked her if everything was ok and she responded " It's inventory time now and all stores have cranky staff". Even thou I eventually found what I was looking for I decided to go to the Stag Shop down the street as this store made me feel very unwelcome.

A lot of items for all needs, but if you bought something and it stopped working they will not replace it or help you somehow with warranty.
Update:
After few emails they said I can replace broken item at store.

Finally item was replaced in the store.
