We went in at 10pm for dine in and they were closing at 11. They were kind enough to let us sit down and dine in quickly. The food was a 3/5, a bit oily for my liking. But the portion sizes are very good.
10 - 15 years, always satisfied, a little heavy on oils but quality, quantity, flavors 2 thumbs up. I've had chili chicken from many restaurants and find this one to be my favorite. I recommend to ppl often.delicious
What the f happened to this place. Chilli chicken s so oily and tastes so different. The Manchuria beed chow mein is weird, all flavours of the dishes are so off. They need to get back on track before they lose their valuable customers. So much oil can't even digest no more.
Food was good. But the ambience, especially people in the parking lot were awful. Rude and Obnoxious. It simply spoilt our ecening. In one word Kachra Desi Crowd. It will be wise to take the food and eat in the comfort of your house.
Before Covid I used to go here all the time. Something is different and not in a good way. Manchurian used to be crispy, dark sauce, onions with chilies and now it’s soggy soaked in some red sauce that doesn’t have any flavour other than spicy. The other items I ordered do not taste or look the same which makes me believe this is under new management, new cooks etc. After reading a lot of the other comments with poorly made food I won’t be returning.
I have been a frequent customer for many years. Sad to say the taste is not consistent. Sometimes it tastes good, other times it doesnt. The manchurian fried rice and noodles lacked flavor when i bought it 2 days ago, quite disappointing. However when I bought it 3 weeks ago the taste was delicious. Must be different chefs.
There was more cabbage than rice in my veggie fried rice and was very oily food. DOES NOT TASTE GOOD AT ALL.that shows how much the chef cares about the food their cooking and sending out
ive been to over 60 chinese restaurants in the toronto and the worst ones on the list never tasted this bad it was just bland. NO STAR. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY
I love their chilli beef. That’s my favourite. Convenient location, parking available, you can order over phone and pay at the time of pick up. But … they messed up my order.twice. Another day they gave my order to someone else! Therefore the three star rating.
The best manchurian chowmein/fried rice my family and I have tried! Everyone I bring here falls in love, their food is super tasty and give an abundance for each plate. Service could be a bit better though, they're usually always busy or try to rush you out near closing time.
Wanted a quick lunch and was craving Chinese food. Luckily just down the street from work so I just popped in. Placed order and discovered the only accept debit or Amex. Canceled order and went elsewhere.
For over 10 years I have frequented this restaurant travelling from Bowmanville just to eat here bringing family and friends, we loved it! Sadly after our order today I won't be doing this again.had fried squid that was like fried elastic bands and totally inedible, my veggie pakora was over cooked and bland as was the order of chow mein. Disappointed is an understatement.review has two stars soley for nostalgia sake.
Ordered ahead and was ready as I arrived. Clean restaurant and good customer service. Food was at par, nothing extraordinary. The chicken pakoras were over cooked as the crust was dark and flavors were blant. Better options out there in the east end.
If you come you 100% need to get the deep fried wontons! They are just.wow! Of course we also had to try the Chili Chicken and Garlic Chicken and they did not disappoint. Great food and friendly service. Nothing better than that!
If you are a fan of Hakka then you should definitely try this place in Scarborough. I find in the area it's hit or miss with Hakka restaurants. This one is a hit for sure. Try the chili beef or chicken, delicious always!
One of the best Hakka food in Toronto! The quality used to be even better before covid but still one of my favourites! My favourite is the Schezuan and the Manchurian chicken!
Their chili chicken has us coming back again and again. We tried their crispy beef and it's a new favourite. These dishes can be prepared spicy or mild. The egg fried rice was so yummy I could eat it by itself. And their hot and sour soup is the best in Scarborough. Not only that, but they are friendly and clearly take pride in their work. They said the food would be ready in 20 minutes and it was ready on time, and on a busy Friday night! I can't recommend Lucky enough-and both Scarborough locations are equally good, btw.
I have been going to Lucky Chinese Restaurant for around 10 years. It used to be my go to place for hakka food.in earlier years I would dine in almost weekly, sometimes even multiple times a week! I stopped frequenting as much because the overall taste of the food has significantly declined over the years. There also are way too many other Hakka restaurants in the area to choose, which I find are better priced and just plain taste better/use less oil. I often give this restaurant a chance since it is super close to where I live, and because of how much I used to love it back then, but I think I am going to stop. My last few visits I found the food to be very bland, and the chicken tasted like it wasn't fresh - very rubbery. Their chicken pakoras which were my favourite across all Hakka restaurants didn't taste as flavourful as they used to be. Pretty disappointed as I reflect on how much I used to love this place and their food! I can see from the other reviews, many feel similarly so hopefully they can improve for the customers who have remained loyal throughout all these years:)
Food tastes great but yesterday I ordered two of my usuals for takeout. I've been going there for over 10 years but I had not ordered from there for about a year. To my surprise one dish had gone up from $10 to $13 and the other from $9 to $12. That's a 30% increase! Plus they used to have 10% off for pickup if the order was over $20. No more! That's more like a 40% increase.
Add to that, the new conainers are 25% smaller. Less for way more!
They will be lucky to survive through this pandemic. I can get s Hakka Chinese lunch elsewhere only with a pop, small veggie roll, small dessert and pop for $7.50. I will be going there!
P. S. REPLY to the REPLY The pick-up discount should be automaticaly applied. My receipt is for $25 and there is no discount on it. Find some new suppliers becuse other places are cheaper. And frankly your lunch specials used to be great with half meat and veggies and half rice, but 2-3 years ago they became only 25% meat and veggies. Since I am diabetic and rice just turns to sugar in my system, I stopped buyng them a long time ago.
Ordered chilly chicken for pickup. It was rotten basically. I had to spit out after the first bite. To make matters worse, the manager argued with me! Asked me why did order this dish. Definitely won't be going back ever. What a terrible experience!
I have been a regular customer at lucky Chinese for well over 10 years, Amazing food. The reason for my 1 star is I went to their location a few days ago, I purchased 2 orders or chilli chicken. When I arrived home I found a hair in one of the chilli chicken dishes. Which is disgusting but I understand things happen they were very understanding, they replaced my meal. But here is why I am giving a 1 star review today.when I opened the second order of chilli chicken it had hair as well. My conclusion is that someone at this location has a hair loss problem. I urge you guys to resolve this as it will definitely hurt your business.
VERY DISAPPOINTED had my baby shower on Sunday, ordered a bunch of appetizers. My guest are over and its time to eat, I open the veggie pakora and it was BLACK, COMPLETELY BURNT, I took a bite and it tasted BURNT. I called right away and one of the ladies said I can bring it back and get a credit of cash. I told her I can not come because I had guests over she said I can bring it in the following day I told her I can not due to work I will bring it ALL back on Tuesday she said ok. I call on Tuesday to make sure that it wont be a problem bringing the dish back. Spoke to a lady named Ella and explained what I was told on Sunday and that I had ALL the veggie pakoras in the container because no one ate it and that I can return it all to show them and she kept telling me I can not get my money back tht I can exchange for another dish. I explained to her that I do not need another dish today, I needed it for my party and I was told I would get a refund. She kept saying no. I am EXTREMELY embarrassed because my guests saw this and I'm EXTREMELY ANNOYED with this whole situation. I would NEVER order from here again. Please explain to me how this was ok to give to ANYONE. This was disgusting.
Their vegetable chow mein looked really unappetizing and disgusting sorry to say. My kids and husbands were really disappointed as we wanted hakka food
I understands why this place is titles lucky because ur lucky if u walk out of here without eating anything ohhh rosss, this isnt a good take on hakka food at all i make better sinapoire noodles at home with my famous sczhewan chicken
I went in on a Friday with a group of friends and it was quite busy so we assumed the food would be fresh and good. I noticed how one of the servers picked up a customer's bag that they had left back and started putting the stuff back into the containers like hot sauce and the food to reuse it. That's a turn off. We placed our order and literally received the food within 3 minutes of ordering. We knew something was fishy about that. The chili chicken was cold and the presentation was really poor. The chicken wasn't fresh at all. The egg fried rice literally only had egg no vegetables? The rest of the food came out but we all just chose to leave and we didn't touch any of the food. I don't recommend this place.
Food was spicy enough to allow the patron to enjoy the taste. The chilli chicken, kung poa chicken and chop suey were delicious. The spicy noodles were fantastic. The hot and sour mushroom soup was satisfying. Excellent time with my in-laws and immediate family which was complimented by the overall excellent food.
I ordered two soups, one seafood and one chicken. They even repeated the order to me before I picked it up. I came home to enjoy it and they gave me two corn soups. I was very disappointed and had to drive all the way back to get what I actually ordered. I don’t live close either so I was very unimpressed.
Their chili chicken is on point. Not too greasy, not a ton of breading, not many hidden pockets of gross fat. Service is great. Peggy is funny and friendly
My husband brought the soup and chicken chowmin yesterday and found no taste in the soup and totally garbage and chicken in the chowmin was rotten and smelly me and my husband got food poisoning my husband. Couldn't go to work due to the food poisoning just waste of money won't reccomend to anyone
Service is absolute garbage, but the food makes up for it. Don't get me wrong, it's not a one-time thing. I've been there many times and the quality of service is very persistent.
The only reason I keep going back is for the quality of the food, which is also persistent. My fav is the manchurian chicken, chicken pakora and hot and sour soup.
Awful and Horrible customer service although very regular customer for years. MSG is potent which is why it.s that amount of food in styrofoam.containers. Wait times can be quite lengthy alot of times. Halal meat w Alcoholic Bar is a contradiction for Muslim ppl n those alike. I.ll drive a bit further for Halal Hakka Chinese food but I will NOT Ever go back there.
Been coming here for years and overall customer service, food quality, and environment of the restaurant has never failed to impress. Don't let the couple bad reviews on here fool you, this place has always consistently kept their high standard and I'll continue keep coming here. Highly recommend the ginger chicken. The restaurant setting during the Christmas time is very heart-warming and much like an ''at-home'' experience.
Lets get strait to the point the food here was great, they give you huge portions of tasty food. The only thing i did not like about this place was that a lady their was kind of rude. But i totally recomend going their.
Food is good, price is very reasonable BUT if they are targeting Muslim customers how can they – 1. Serve alcohol? 2. No Halal certification but claims to be serving Halal food? When confronted cashier showed no interest to prove meat is halal. 3. Owner or workers aren’t Muslim 4. Big screens always filled with Bollywood dance and songs
Today 30th/12/18 I went To this restaurant with my family and my friend family.four adult and 4 kids, I swear to god I never recommend this place for anyone specially with a kids or family’s.when one of their server saw that we coming with a kids, she doesn’t even like it, she was yelling, I swear to god, I have never experienced such bad well coming like this in my whole life. I know kids make spill and makes little bit of their work hard, but it’s a restaurant they should be ready for it. Anyway we decided to go to different Hakka at Lawrence and pharmacy. To be honest I never ever recommend to anyone.
