Lynwood Animal Hospital

I've been taking my lovebird, Frisbee, to this veterinary clinic for about two years and have consistently been impressed with their care and professionalism. The vet that we see handles Frisbee with skill and compassion. They are remarkably responsive via email or phone, ensuring easy communication.

Recently, Frisbee fell ill and needed urgent care. The clinic was able to accommodate us almost immediately, allowing for prompt diagnosis and treatment. While the costs are somewhat high, they are understandable, considering the specialized services dedicated to exotic animals. Overall, I am very satisfied with the level of care and attention we receive.

This is a great animal hospital. The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I bring my parrotlet here and they take amazing care of him.

Recently I had to euthanize my 1year 1 month and 1 week old mini schnauzer
Ginger due to kidney disease.
It just like losing your ownly friend. Very emotional.
I was there until the very end.
The staff were very caring and sympathetic.
First time I've don it with my previous dogs

Called them last week Sep. 12,2023 to make an appointment. They asked me to make a payment now in order to get a possible appointment date sometime in December or even January.
I wouldn't recommend to anyone Lynwood Animal hospital as they are asking payment upfront without registration or even giving a date for appointment.  I never been there, so not sure it's their regular practice or it's just for the birds.front desk staff didn't even bother to take down information from me for my bird for a potential appointment. All I needed for a technician to trim the claws and clip the wings of my birdie sooner. And I said I could wait for a regular check up appointment when it's available. And I can make the payment a week prior to the appointment.

But she said no. Apparently, it was vet's preference.

So I am not taking him there.  I wouldn't take my kitties there either.

I bring my cockatiel here and i can say everyone who i have seen so far is extremely knowledgable when it comes to avian care. They take their time to make my bird comfortable with little treats and head scratches. Best place to bring a bird if you need vet care

I found them by accident when I first moved to the area and had an emergency with my pet bunny. I have continued to bring my bunnies here ever since. The staff is wonderful, knowledgeable and caring.

My little parrot had a stroke and broke 2 bones in his wing. The staff eased my concerns and helped my bird immediately. They gave me so much information and handouts to look over and are upfront about costs. Even if there was another aviary vet - I would still come to this location. Thanks for all the hard work you do for my bird.

I've never had any problems bringing my rabbit to this hospital. They're very helpful and kind.

Had good experience there, got genuine advices from vet and they also do direct payment from Trupanion insurance.

I go to Lynwood to receive expert care for my budgie, Boo. It's hard to find a good avian vet, but Lynwood is the best in Ottawa in my opinion. Dr. Kristen Flegel was able to identify the issues my budgie had when others vets were left scratching their heads. Once we knew what was going on, we were able to treat the issue. Now Boo is living symptom free! I highly recommend Lynwood to any bird owner considering seeking care here.

My last visit was generally OK but I was surprised I couldn't stay in the room for my rabbit's examination? !? I've always been there for my other two rabbits. As a result I didn't get to know his weight and then more surprised when I wasn't given that info in the paperwork I was sent home with. Otherwise I would have given five stars!

Dr. Harrison and her vet tech were absolutely amazing with my rabbit and my bird. What I appreciated the most was that they took their time with my pets and never rushed. My bird, Piper, fell in love with the vet tech and did not want to leave her side. He is picky on whom he likes so when that happened it made me so happy I made the right decision and switching them to this veterinarian. Lapina, my bunny, was greeted with her favourite snacks (Kale and hay) and sucked up all of the attention Dr. Harrison gave her. I have never seen Lapina so calm during an appointment before. I drive an hour out of my way to take my pets to this clinic. Their prices are actually cheaper than the majority of veterinarians in my area. Thank you for taking care of my beloved pets!

SUMMARY: if you are new to this clinic and looking for the rhdv2 vaccine for your rabbit, go to Carling Animal Hospital instead. Lynwood will lead you on for months before telling you that they will not vaccinate your rabbit if you are not a current client.

I have been calling Lynwood Animal Hospital maybe once a month since June, as well as watching their Facebook page, for news regarding the rhdv2 vaccine, a vaccine necessary to prevent a highly lethal hemorrhagic disease in rabbits that has recently been found in Ontario for the first time. When I found out they were applying for the vaccine (which is not yet fully authorized in Canada) I was relieved and impressed by their initiative. They said they would be ‘prioritizing’ their current patients, which I do understand – but of course this implies that if they had enough doses available, they would be willing to administer them to first-time patients as well.

On August 30th I saw on Facebook I saw that they had obtained the vaccine. I called in to ask when they might know whether they had an extra dose to spare for new clients. Again, if it turned out later that there were no doses available for new patients, I would not have held it against them and would not be writing this review.

The representative on the phone told me they did not know yet, but that I could book a check-up for my rabbit in order to become a client (which had also been recommended to me on a previous call). However, she said that even this would not guarantee my rabbit a vaccination. When I said that I needed time to think about this, I was told FOR THE FIRST TIME and after MONTHS of contact that ONLY THEIR CURRENT CLIENTS would have access to the vaccine at all. As she put it, “coming in to get just the shot without being a patient, that’s not going to happen, ” which was also a rude way to phrase it in my opinion.

Every time I called I made sure that they knew I was not an existing client, and yet I only found out today that I have wasted months of my time. This distinction between client and non-client, since it is not based on supply of the vaccine as I had assumed, is arbitrary. Luckily Carling Animal Hospital has no such restrictions, so I will be going there for my rabbit’s needs.

I've been seeing Dr. Harrison and her team for my bunny and they're amazing. They truly care about your pets and treat them like their own. They're on the slightly more expensive side but for the service they provide, its worth the price.

Had an awesome experience getting my bunny neutered here. Dr Flegel and all the techs I spoke with were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They also made such an effort to keep my bun comfortable while he was at the clinic which I really appreciated with bunnies being such anxious animals. Will definitely keep trusting Lynwood with my bunny’s vet care:)

The staff has been fantastic! Communication out of this world and they are so friendly. Dr. Roscoe was so knowledgeable about Senegal Parrots. I will will certainly return for repeat visits.

Great service - very thoughtful and sympathetic when we had to have our budgie put down. The only place I can also get Harrison’s Bird Pellets for my lovebirds.

They are a more expensive option than I’ve known in the past, but the attention to detail and extra time they take for explanations make it well worth it. Communication is top notch, and they will work with you to find the best treatments.

Had a great experience here with my leopard gecko. Dr. Poulton was extremely knowledgeable and kind along with the fabulous vet techs/staff. Thank you again! <3

This team is here for the animals…not just a paycheck. I am constantly amazed at the professional level of service my fur and feathered kids receive here.

Lynwood Animal Hospital have wonderful staff, very friendly and courteous. The front staff make you feel so welcomed from the first moment walking through the doors. Excellent Veterinarian Hospital! Would recommend to anyone!

This is my go-to for avian vet because it's the closest to home and friendly staff. Their prices are a bit higher than other places I've heard of but I don't feel like driving 1 to 2 hrs.

We are new to the area so this was our first ever visit. Such a painless process to get our dog’s yearly vaccinations. I love that they do video conferencing for your appointment! The staff are all so nice, very friendly, and were great with my nervous pup. The prices were reasonable as well, would definitely recommend the Lynwood vet.

Horrible phone communication, the receptionist Amanda is incredibly rude and condescending, this is the second time I’ve called to ask questions and had her speak over me and talk down to me. You work in animal care, how are you so cold and heartless? Don’t recommend this clinic. Mississippi Mills is amazing service.

The staff are extremely invested in your pet and your knowledge and understanding of its health and requirements. Whenever I call or ask questions, I've always experienced support and patience.

My pet's vet is Stephanie and she's definitely put me at ease with my first reptile. She's answered my laundry list of questions, confirmed what I was doing right and what I was missing, and followed up with me when I sent questions and concerns.

I highly recommend taking your pet here if you're looking for people who know what they're doing and truly value the wellbeing of your animal.

This is the only aviation clinic for you birds family member. My parrot has been take are by they over 5 years. And my first totally love all the doctors here.

The only avian vet in Ottawa. I bring my parrot here and I have seen all the vets. They have all been just amazing, the reception staff are incredibly kind, and the vet techs are professional and sweet. I cannot stop singing praises about these guys because every time I visit, they take such good care of my birds and me as well. I'd say I can't wait to go back but hopefully I won't need to.

Began seeing them during the pandemic for my three rabbits. Vet for my rabbits is very thorough in explanations and observations. Doesn't just care about reactive care, but preventative care. COVID-19 safety measures exceptional yet easy to navigate.

After my bunny had a bad ear infection we were referred to Lynwood. They are professional, nice and caring.

Dr Harrison is amazing she cares for the animals. Dr Tracey on the other hand is very ignorant and selfish she only cares about the money who charges $75 for a let to sit in a cage while she awaits her xrays handed us the bill without even asking about pain meds my heart was already so broken and she proceeded to dig the hole deeper about my pet I hope the money is worth destroying families with your poor demenar.

Best vets in town. I used to take my rabbit to another clinic, with no success in hear treatment. These guys were great. They prescribed the right antibiotics and she is now a happy bunny again. Their prices are very reasonable and the staff are super nice.

In another incident, my bunny got a head tilt that we thought she would never recover from, but again these people saved her. They are super experienced in treating rabbits.

I have to watch my pet be put now because they kept saying it wasn't an emergency and kept delaying her treatment.we told them multiple times it was and had our pet looked at by numerous vets but because it's an exotic pet we came here all they do try and drain your money because that's all they made everything about and on top of that they tried saying it was our fault when we tried everything to save our pet. I would never deal with again I'd rather take my remaining pets anywhere but here. I'm so angry with this veterinary office I can't even begin to put into words.

Dr. Roscoe and her team at Lynwood are awesome! My umbrella cockatoo, Burt Reynolds, loves visiting, and they take excellent care of him when its time for his check ups and when he's not feeling well.
I certainly recommend Lynwood for your feathered friends.

Great experience bringing my bun in - they managed to squeeze him in that day for an urgent matter and even allowed his bond mate to go in with him so he wasn’t as stressed! Patient in answering all my questions and they definitely know rabbits there. It’s almost a two hour drive away for me but I don’t have a rabbit vet close by and wouldn’t hesitate bringing either of my buns there again. Everyone was friendly, they didn’t push unnecessary tests, and I found the price very fair. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a vet to take their rabbits to. Thanks Lynwood and Dr Poulton!

I came here by referral from another emergency vet when my 38 year old parrot had gotten sick and the initial vet thought they would be better equipped and have more knowledge regarding exotic birds. His situation was grim and we knew he likely would not live much longer, so we drove to Lynwood. He had stopped breathing in the car and we knew it was too late. Due to the covid 19 pandemic we were required to call when we arrived. As my husband drove, I called as we were pulling in. He barely made it to a rolling stop and I jumped out and a technician as awaiting for us at the door and was able to grab him and bring him in immediately. It felt like an hour, but was probably only a minute or two when we received a call asking if we wanted them to perform CPR. They tried to revive him but it was too late. We received another call from the vet who told us she managed to preform some tests and gave us the cause of death. I need to remind you that by this time it was no more than a half hour. They didn’t need to do that. He was gone. But it put my mind at ease. I can’t thank everyone enough for how caring they were. While it killed me that I couldn’t be in the room with my beloved pet during his last moments, I don’t doubt that he was in the most capable hands. Thank you to every person who had a hand in caring for him. To any person who I talked to on the phone. To the woman who met me outside a week later to give me his ashes. To all of you at this clinic.thank you.

Visited this location to have a hamster looked at. Vet was thorough and explained various deals about the animal and care.

The staff are extremely competent and accommodating. They are the only place I trust for guinea pigs!

They’ve treated both my bearded dragon and my hognose snake, and they’re both doing great now! Definitely recommend this place for reptiles, the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable

We travel 2 hours to bring our much loved bunnies to Lynwood Animal Hospital. The quality of care is exceptional. The staff is outstanding not only in their knowledge and skill but in their compassion as well.
I trust them completely with our dear little fur babies.

After never having been to a vet for my Leopard Gecko, the vet here really did her best to help her out. After a long wait because the vets were caring for other animals in crisis, they diagnosed and attempted to treat my old little gecko. I took her home that night and she passed away over night. I have a bunch of unopened meds and food that they sold to me, and dropped like $260. As a student with a tight budget, I am hoping that the animal hospital consider refunding me on compassionate grounds.

Lynwood has taken excellent care of our bird for nearly two decades. Clinic is very clean, bright, modern, and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Roudybush and Harrison's bird food are available for sale in the lobby at good prices.

One of our cats became suddenly very sick and had to be euthanized. Lynwood staff and doctors were caring and supportive. We really appreciated that care during such a difficult time.

It has always been a great place to bring my pets. The professionalism and plain English consults help instill confidence that you've made the right choice.

After taking in one of my leopard geckos I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Harrison. Not only was she one of the most knowledgeable reptile vets i have ever met her personality and ease with my little one was fantastic. Unfortunately, at only 4 years old we were told there would be no remedy and the best thing we could do would be to let her go.
While this is the worst decision any pet owner will have to make the Dr and the staff here were so kind and compassionate during the entire process. Everything was explained, their patience was amazing and even though this is a terrible situation Dr Harrison was able to give some comfort with her knowledge and why this was the best decision for Kala.
Losing a pet.making that decision it will never be easy but what was remarkable to me during this entire visit was Dr Harrison. I've been to lots of vets be it for my reptiles or dogs, I've never met someone with such a wonderful personality to both the animals and their humans. Dr Harrison is one of the few people I've met doing a job where I step back later and think wow this is really what she was meant to do.
So, thank you Dr Harrison for all of your advice and help and for being the best veterinarian I have ever met.
