Had a group of six, squeezed into an extremely small space. Table space too small for platters so very crowded on table. Food was not hot, rice dish tasteless, seafood platter ended up being soup, not as described on menu. Won’t be going back.
Only ordered take out for the first time on Christmas day. According to the per dish prices (almost double from other typical Chinese restaurants) I expected the dishes to be larger. But, you could tell it was good quality cooking. Each dish was very different (I find other Chinese places use all the same veggie mix in almost every dish). It was very tasty and we still had lots. My kids just wish they had chicken balls
Absolutely the best Chinese food in southern Ontario. We come down here every time we’re in the Niagara region. Our server Danny was excellent in his suggestions. This place is a real treat
I recently ordered by phone and was impressed by the exceptional service provided by Virginia. Her polite and knowledgeable assistance made the ordering process seamless. Also the food was delicious and the quality was amazing I am happy customer. I highly recommend this establishment for both their great food and exceptional staff. Keep it up folks!
Such a nice experience here. We shared 6 dishes as a group and each one was amazing. Danny was our waiter and he did an excellent job. Highly recommend!
Waiter was lacking knowledge, quite night with only a few tables on 3O mins to get a drink, then all food arrived together, starters and mains, there was no room on the table and we asked for them to hold a few dishes to keep them hot however they could not understand our request. We were out to celebrate a birthday with family, we were never offered a 2nd drink, or were we offered desert or any plates cleared from our table. Very poor service. Food was good despite a lot of it getting cold! Stick to take out!
The food is amazing and Danny delivered an incredible service, he made our experience exceptional. His suggestions of food are the best. Great place to visit in St Catharines.
Really good place! Amazing atmosphere and service was amazing! Danny was an amazing server, definitely made the experience better! Food was amazing and was served very fast! Clean bathrooms too!
Superb. Quality food. Excellent service. Great atmosphere. So the outside doesn't scream "great experience". But once you go in, you'll see pride of ownership. Even the wash rooms are quality. I'm a foodie, so I was very impressed with the freshness of the food. Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff. We highly recommend this restaurant!
What a lovely restaurant, the staff is super professional and friendly. My one year old was offered hot water on arrival without asking to heat up her milk. We are amazed how detail the service are and they really followed their heart and care their customer!
This was my second time @ Ma Chinese Cuisine. That experience was 5stars! My server today was “Janessa” ~ She was amazing (like the first time) from her Hello! I dined alone today so Janessa did help with me choices. She was/is welcoming, very professional and pleasantly sweet. The atmosphere is engaging, with the sounds of Jazz playing. Great flow in the restaurant. I recommend Ma Chinese Cuisine for one- to a group of 60+ …. Delicious food and amazing experience both times ~ I’ll be back very soon!
Common when r u guys to going open I miss the crispy duck and the egg yok lobster the honey glazed ribs with the cranberry and beef noodle with soya sauce. I miss the services: (u guys r like my family.
The food is fabulous, we took our boys for the all you can eat lunch. They never mentioned any limits or conditions, when we finished they would not let us pay unless we paid for what was leftover. They sent over 2 different managers to convince us to pay for what was leftover. We didn't pay anything extra, they put the food in the garbage and told us that now we are aware of their policy. That left a very sour taste in our mouth after a very nice meal. Great food, lousy communication regarding policies on their ALL YOU CAN EAT lunch.
Just did a takeout order and while the food is always good the server doing the takeout orders was very unfriendly and unprofessional. I have usually had good experience here before so I am hoping that this was a one of experience.
Definitely a hidden gem! From the outside the place looks pretty torn down, but once inside, the place is clean, the staff are professional and polite, and the food quality is amazing!
There was even a person who cut the roasted duck we ordered in front of us!
Very polite and friendly service, portion to price ratio is average, dishes cooked with precision and immaculate presentation. All together with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
Service speed was slow, some servers chatted at front instead of looking around customers. Try to order some dishes and waited a server over 20 minutes. The price is average, but the service is below average in pandemic period.
This place is gem! I absolutely recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a great dinning place that’s classy and delicious! The food is of high quality and with great variety. The staff was great and very friendly.
I hate to leave a bad review but I am so disappointed! It was going to be our first time at Ma’s. We called to make a reservation for a table of 7 for 12: 30. The young man on the phone said he would have one available for 1-1: 30 and put us down for 1: 15. We arrive at 1: 20 (parking was full and took a few minutes to park) and we’re told that we were over 20 minutes late for our reservation, so they gave away our table (*he was on speaker phone and all 7 of us heard him say 1: 15 is what he put down). Obviously there was a miscommunication, but the way they dealt with us was unprofessional. First, the young man who initially spoke with us when we entered, didn’t want to deal with the issue so he brought over the other young man who we spoke to on the phone. He said “he made himself clear for 1: 00” and that we could sit in one of their “empty rooms” for $230+? I understand if you’re busy, but it was more frustrating that they didn’t even bother to call us before giving away our table, and there were plenty of empty tables around us. They didn’t take accountability or offer us to wait for another table, we were literally shooed away. Super awkward and disappointing experience because I’ve heard great things about the food, but will likely never try it after that!
We ordered the beef with broccoli for like $20 we got 6 tiny pieces of beef and HUGE pieces of broccoli. So it was an order of broccoli with a side of beef when it should be the other way around.
The general tao chicken tasted gamey tough an`d too much sauce.
The beef and soy rice noodles lacked flavor everything did. The menu didnt mention anything about adding bean sprouts to it and it had soo many more than even the noodles.
Disappointed as we ate here before and enjoyed it. Not sure if its a new cook or something changed.
The dim sum were really good. But way too overpriced. We got a few dishes. Portions were good size. The congee however was too watery and had barely any flavor. I would recommend only if you cannot find another dim sum place nearby.
We have been in the Niagara region for about five years now and have seen Ma quite a number of times. It’s a very industrial looking brick building in a very non touristy area, but the sign looks modern and well designed so it always stuck in our heads to try it one day.
On a whim I decided to book a reservation. My fam of five get there and it’s amazing inside. Very modern and I’d say dark - the atmosphere feels very adult and sophisticated. Lots of booths and also many private roomed tables for 10 or more - probably to help keep noise levels down and give your party an element of privacy. The decor is also very modern and all booths are very specifically lit on the tabletops with one spotlight. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still plenty of light to see with but it’s well done.
Now, the server we had, Andy, was very pleasant from the start. Would love to have him serve us again. Very warm and welcoming plus he obviously has a customer service element built in naturally.
The food in one word is amazing.
Asian fusion/modern. Being from Toronto I can compare to one of the biggest ones there - Szechuan Szechuan. Such good food but this I feel is one step higher.
All portions were plentiful and well plated. All were attractive dishes and excellent tasting. I try to be a bit balanced and find some measure of criticism for the food but I simply can’t just yet. The experience at Ma was honestly quite perfect. Food, service, atmosphere was on point.
I will let the pics speak for themselves but if you try it I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a fantastic gem in St. Catherine’s.
Delicious food and great vegetarian options. I've only had takeout so far but the service is always exemplary. They were very busy with the phone ringing constantly and I still had two servers check on my order (I was a bit early for pick up). Big portions and high quality.
It was our first time at Ma's and what a beautiful ambiance. We had the all you can eat dimsum for $30 each. We were all very impressed with the quality of the dimsum. The dumplings were hand made by the chef - good texture and tasted delicious! Our server was excellent. The only thing that was disappointing was they ran out of hot sauce. A restaurant serving dimsum and don't have hot sauce is pretty bad. Overall, food was great!
