I ordered the surf and dumplings, and I'm sorry to say.it tasted really bad. I have never eaten fish roe with such a fishy smell, and I actually gave it a small spoonful on the side of the bowl. Fortunately, it was unpalatable. The beef was a bit old and dry, and there was no sauce, so the white rice below was just soulless white rice. It may also be that the bowl was too full when serving the rice, and the rice was all mushy and stuck into a ball. As a daily lover, People who eat plain rice also feel resistance. Not even my beloved onsen egg could save this dish. Fortunately for him, it was still the most expensive don, which can only be said to be wrong. But the peppercorn chicken is really delicious.give me one more star

Went here with my friend on a random day because we were craving for some Taiwanese cuisine.

The place was cozy and loud with music and chatters of diners. For some reason the smell of food being cooked was engulfing the entire place but we didn’t mind.

Server was nice. But the main stars of the show were their food. Really huge portions. Good for sharing (if you’re not a heavy eater!).

Ordered:

Taiwanese Pork Belly on Rice - I can eat it this all day! Pork belly was tender and soft.
Taiwanese Style BBQ Sausage & Mince Pork on Rice - my friend got this but we shared it so we both can try the foods. The sausage was so good! Was exactly what we were expecting

For drinks (shame no photo) we ordered the following. They were so refreshingly good! A perfect pair for these bowls. We honestly couldn’t decide at first because they all look and sound so good. Maybe next time.

I thought it was very convenient to help with packing after dinner, but when I opened the packing box the next day, I found a hair.
The problem was that I didn’t eat much when I ate in the restaurant, so I packed a lot of it, which was all inedible.

Very popular place with great food.
We had the creamy corn seafood hotpot and Taiwan BBQ Sausage and pork, both options were excellent.
Service was friendly and fast.
We noticed that everything on the menu looked great, so it was hard to make a decision. As food passed us we asked what it was, so next time we will try something new.
The only issue I had was not with the food but the washrooms. The stairs going up were steep and pretty dangerous, not a place for those with mobility issues.
Overall, a great little place with fantastic food.

I hated order A7. We ordered the boba hotpot which was disgusting and tasted nothing like mentioned. Honestly overpriced and gross.

The staff in there is really kind and helpful. I really like the hotplate. However, the hotplate is a little bit oily. But its understandable because of the meats. Also, I really like the soy something broth (Sorry, I forgot the name) for the mini hotpot. Love it!

I have been to Mabu twice so far.
I went with a group of friends, we got takoyaki, one of the sizzling hot plates, fried chicken popcorn and a friend got noodle soup, another got hotpot. All in all, every dish was made to its precise texture & every dish had its unique taste. Their service is wonderful as well. We had a bit of a wait and the place is small, so accommodating 6-7 people is a bit hard. But the servers make it very easy and manageable and are very accommodating. The wall art is also very intriguing to look at. Would definitely recommend going as a couple or a small group of friends.

Overall the food was decent however we asked for the food to be taken out and the waiter dumped it instead.

This would be the second eatery in Canada that I’m like… “This is it”

The braised pork rice tasted very well balanced with enough sauce to cover the rice.

The Mapo tofu pork was awesome too. Decent portion.

They provide free water.
Oh oh… 10% off if you pay by cash. Hence that almost contra the 13% HST

Went there with my husband and baby in a stroller to try one of their desserts at around 5: 10pm so it wasn't busy and there were a lot of empty tables. The waitress leads us to a table and we park the stroller as close to the table so it's away from the traffic area. She asks us to move bc.so we oblige and once again park the stroller as closest to the table possible. Another guy comes with the same girl asking us to move the stroller again into a corner where there is clearly no room. At this point we decide to leave because they are clearly not accommodating a family with a baby and a stroller.

It wasn't busy, there were plenty of tables around still and they ask us twice to move, when they were the ones that directed to those to tables in the first place.

I would not recommend this place and would give them negative stars if I could.

Decent place for hotpot; but there is always long queue so you might want to plan ahead before visiting

Ordered Taiwanese fried chicken and the hot pot. Fried chicken was good but the smell from the hot pot was really funny. Overall ok experience.

Perfect late night snack. The house special Honey Cube Toast was amazing. The sizzling hot plate was the perfect savory dish. Their mango pomelo sago was super good too.

The bestttttt taiwanese xxl chicken and hotpot! The beef hotpot rice is marinated well, and the chicken is 1000! Tastes amazingg.never had fried chicken this good!?

Amazing customer service! Wow! Im so impressed! Very kind and caring servers! I wish I could give more than 5 stars! This place deserves more recognition for their service and desserts! Will suggest to my friends for sure, I ll be back for more dine in soon!

Ordered the following through their website: House Special Taiwanese Style Minced Pork on Rice, Popcorn Chicken, and Oyster Omelette. The order was ready in 20 minutes.

The portions were generous. The popcorn chicken was done just right. Really solid Taiwanese cuisine. The food and service quality has been consistently high over the years. A true gem in the area.

Good presentation BUT very long wait… we went there just for this dessert but it took them over an hour to make it when the waitress said that it would take about 25 minutes…

Been here so many times and the servers were always very friendly. Their menu has a great variety and selections. The hot pot I ordered came only a bit late but they still gave me a complimentary dessert (milk pudding) as an apology. Very kind of them! I would highly recommend this place and definitely try to join the waitlist during peak hours as the waiting area is small.

Great Taiwanese food. Quality is consistent and always worth a visit. Middle seats can be a little more comfortable but aside from that it's great. Side note, the ice cream tower comes out kinda melted aside from the top ball.

Attentive customer service, decent food. Venue was quite hot as some tables had open-flame dishes and the window was open on a 25C+ day. Prices are reasonable. Great place to chat with a friend.

I absolutely loved this restaurant. It was my first time here and the food was super delicious, flavourful, great presentation and loved the idea of ordering via app and having disposable cutlery. Also great customer service, the servers are so welcoming. All in all amazing experience would be back again?

Fantastic spot, amazing selection of Asian fusion street foods here! Went early on a Sunday and had three dishes to share tapas style. Everything was made perfectly; service was great.

It is relative cheap and good. It provides a variety of Asian food and operate late with last order at 12am.

Ok, this is just another mediocre restaurant near Wellesley station. The environment isn’t too good, narrow doors, greasy floors and tables, disposable dishes, which is okay tbh…The entire myth is about bill payment, unlike other restaurants which you could write down the amount you would like to tip, they do not use this fashion. And something really made me feel weird.
Here is the thing: when you don’t have much cash and the cash payment is the way they preferred, how would you deal with tips…I was being told that there would be 10% off for cash payment, which I did use that. Then a bill came in, while I looked all over my pocket to get the bills and coins filling up the amount. While waiting for receipts, the waiter came back and asked: are you disappointed with the services? Which I am a bit of, but I said no, then he put the bill in and pointed at the amount, which I was guessing about tips…and I explained the situation which normally not a lot of people take sufficient cash with them…like me. The bill was around $20, which is all of the cash I have. He replied that I should be paying attention to that next time. I told him I would like to tip, but only card payment available, and he just left.
Here’s the suggestion if you would like to go for it: take sufficient funds, cash bills and coins, which could maybe help you settle this mess down easier.
The food, really, is just mediocre. Could even just be cooked at home.

Being a big fan of Mabu is something that I have never thought. I do not have any bad idea for any dishes in there but I just hate the waiting time for food. It is always a long time, I know they have kinda many customers everyday and they start making ur order after u confirm (it is fresh but taking long time to do some complicated dishes). I don’t really like their latest way to make an order by using ur own phone, I just feel somewhere hard to contact with server. Overall, I still recommend u to pick this spot

Horrible service. If they never can be reached via the posted phone number, why they put it on their website? Also, why the grilled beef tongue dish is always unavailable on DoorDash app? Such a poorly managed restaurant.

A lucky find walking down Yonge Street. Service was excellent as our waiter took the time to explain the menu, spices, pots, etc. Flavours were definitely not off the shelf but homemade, and the dish selection could have you coming back for days, weeks, months while never having the same thing. Busy even mid afternoon.

Ordered this online for several times during the lockdown. Like the food here. Today me and my boyfriend wanna dine in. The food and menu still looks pretty nice. And the guy greeted us at the line was also friendly.
We were taking the look of the menu while we were waiting.
However, the waitress with a yellow ponytail hair was somehow rude. We asked if we could be seated bcs we saw there was an open table. She firstly ignored us and then asked if we were dining in (which was very obvious since we stand there for a whole while). And then told us the table we saw was not open, but we just saw two people left the table. She could have explained it better. She was also pretty rude to the delivery guy.
Lose appetite bcs of this attitude and we left. Everybody seems pretty busy and don’t have time to seat us.
Should hire more people. Pretty disappointed.

This place is solid 5 stars. Delicious food, excellent service, great price, and consistent. If you read the reviews, my comments are echoed by many even though the place currently is around 4.1

They have great variety and a good atmosphere. All of these positives shoe why the place is busy. If you like Taiwanese hot pot soup, this is an excellent place to go to. Do try it.
