In these cold weather days when out on the street, people want to eat something spicy and soupy, so cooking on the stove is definitely the first choice! If there are only a few people and you don’t want to eat too expensive, hot pot for one person is definitely a good choice. This time, this restaurant specializes in Taiwanese hot pot for one person, which was a great surprise!
Signature Taiwanese Spicy Hot Pot ($22.99) You can choose the spiciness level of this soup base. I ordered mild spiciness after 10 hours of eating. It said it was just right for me. It was enough to make me addicted to spicy food without making it difficult to eat, but it wasn't right enough to be spicy.
There are many and rich side dishes, and all the vegetables are so fresh. The seafood and mushrooms are fresh and sweet. They are definitely carefully selected ingredients. The internal organs were all well prepared, and the pig blood, large intestine and rice blood cake were all delicious and had no fishy smell at all. The only nitpick is that the beef is already cooked thoroughly when served, so I can’t bear to see how old it is~
As for the staple food, you can choose white rice/udon/green noodles/poll noodles. I chose the white rice. The soup base is so strong that it can be cooked into a bowl. But the portions of the side dishes were so large that I almost ate half of them in the package (it tasted delicious even after the heat returned on the second day). For friends who are foodies, it’s good for two people to share a pot and add multiple servings of staple food.enough!
Sauerkraut and white meat pot ($20.99) My friend ordered this, and I tried the soup base, which totally blew her away! ! Because it’s fresh and sweet! ! I never expected it to taste like this, but if you call this soup a sour one, you will probably be disappointed because it is not sour at allBut apart from the soup base, it is delicious.
Signature Taiwanese braised pork rice ($12.99) My friend ordered this one, it’s such a big bowl, it’s not just a small rice bowl, it’s such a big size it’s enough to fill up even if you’re just eating. I tried it a few times and found it to be delicious, the juice is so juicy and the meat is evenly fat and lean. It’s a braised pork rice that I can’t stop eating! The disadvantage is that there is no option to add snacks to the set meal. If you don’t want to eat all the meals and go dry, you have to find friends to share it together on a first-come-first-served basis!
Pearl milk green ($5.99) The coffee table is special, the pearls have bites, but they are not particularly tasty. I thought it would be average if I drank it from a milk tea shop, but judging from the level of food served in a restaurant, it’s pretty good~ There’s something unexpected~
In summary, all their ingredients are carefully selected and are not imported. They taste delicious and are large portions. The price is not too expensive. Highly recommended! In terms of environment, the decoration is more like a cozy shop. The store is very bright and bright, and more than half of the seats in the store are sofas. It is so comfortable to sit and enjoy the stove slowlyThere is a toilet on the first floor of the store, so clean, you won’t be afraid if you eat a little and drink a lot of water!
One craves something hot with soup when heading out in this cold weather. Hot pot is undoubtedly the top choice! A solo hot pot is an excellent choice for those who prefer a more intimate setting and a budget-friendly option. This time, I tried a Taiwanese-style solo hot pot, which was full of surprises!
House Special Spicy Hot Pot ($22.99) You can choose the spice level for this broth, and I went with a mild level. It was just right for me—spicy enough to satisfy the craving without overly challenging.
There is an extensive and abundant of ingredients. All the vegetables taste incredibly fresh, with seafood mushrooms being particularly sweet and flavorful. The offal is well-handled; items like pork blood, intestines, and rice cakes are delicious and completely free of unpleasant odours. The only critique would be that the beef slices were served fully cooked, resulting in a bit of toughness if left in the pot for an extended period.
You can choose from white rice, udon, glass noodles, or ramen for the main course. I chose white rice, and the broth was excellent for mixing with rice. The portions of side ingredients were generous, and I almost had to pack half for later (it tasted just as good reheated the next day!). For those with smaller appetites, sharing a pot and ordering an extra main course would be sufficient for two people!
Sliced Pork Pickled Cabbage Hot Pot ($20.99) A friend ordered this, and I tried a sip of the broth—completely surprising! It was incredibly sweet, and there was no hint of the expected sourness. While this might disappoint those expecting a sour taste, the broth was delicious.
House Special Taiwanese Style Minced Pork on Rice ($12.99) A friend ordered this, and it came in a large bowl. Even just eating this would be quite filling. I had a few bites and found it tasty, with flavorful sauce and evenly distributed lean and fatty meat, making it a satisfying braised pork rice bowl. The only downside is that there's no option to add side dishes to make a combo. If someone prefers rice with additional snacks, they may need to find a friend to share it.
Milk Green Tea with Bubbles ($5.99) The tea base was unique, and the pearls had a good chewiness. While those familiar with bubble tea shop standards might find it average, considering it's from a restaurant, it's pretty good – a pleasant surprise!
In conclusion, all the ingredients are thoughtfully chosen, not generic, and the flavors are delicious and generously portioned. The prices are reasonable, making it highly recommended! The ambiance is cozy, resembling a small, warm eatery. It is well-lit, and more than half the seating features sofas. It provides comfortable seating, perfect for leisurely hot pot dining. The downstairs restroom is clean and well-maintained, making it convenient for extended meals and indulging in extra drinks.
We ordered the braised pork rice—generous portion, distinct layers of fat and lean pork, enjoying the rich aroma and the authentic texture of pork. Also, there's a braised egg. Completely satisfied. This is my 2nd time to visit, the service is very nice and this is one of the best taiwanese restaurant I visit so far.
I ordered the braised pork rice. The portion was large. The braised pork was clearly fat and lean. It had the aroma of pork oil and the taste of pork. It also had a braised egg. I was very satisfied!
Uber BOGO Taiwanese style griddled beef. Do not buy. Every single piece of beef was low quality, extremely chewy, and inedible. I chewed every single piece and had to spit it all out. It wouldn't break down in my mouth. What a waste of money. I just ate the rice and some veggies it came with.
EDIT:
They reached out to me with a $6 off my next order and also made changes to their Uber menu, offering another cut of beef that was actually really tender. Thank you for listening and making changes. My lunch was flavourful and delicious.
I often go for late-night snacks with friends. The service is very good, the dishes are delicious, and the desserts are very good. I have a good meal and go home comfortably to sleep.
I had a good lunch at Mabu Station. It's a small location, but the booths are comfortable. We ordered the Taiwanese Style Griddle Beef with Rice, and their Japanese style Omelet with Curry. The griddle beef was flavorful and filled with tasty veggies, but not enough beef, in my opinion. The Omelet with Curry was great, a good homestyle dish.
Excellent service, food came really quick and the portion sizes are so great. I got the curry shrimp and rice and I loved it! The service is also really attentive. Would go again!
Was looking for a late night dessert spot and this place was one of the few spots opened. Dessert was just okay. They definitely put work into their presentation to make it look nice. They put dry ice on the mango sweet bread dessert for a cool effect. A bit expensive for what it is.
Intended to order at the other Mabu in First Markham Place through Facedrive app button ordered here. Realized just after order placed but there was no cancel button. Contact Facedrive agent and they called Mabu just 1 min after my order placed but Mabu said the order is done, cannot be cancelled. I also called Mabu directly and they were so rude. Mabu doesn’t care about customer. They only care about money. Won’t place any order at this Mabu any more. Also uninstalled Facedrive.
Absolute trash, went since they’re the only late night tea shop around and got the “purple rice” drink. They charge $9 after taxes and it’s just vanilla yogurt in a cup with some soft rice, which was extremely disappointing. Not only that but our server seemed high as a kite, as his body movements were super slow and had straight up red eyes.
Amazing food- I have only tried their sukiyaki hot pot but I am hooked. The broth is so flavourful with a large variety of ingredients in the hot pot. Would definitely come back for more.
The food was a big 5/5.the dishes came over a fire, so it was nice and hot to eat:) the vibes of the place was nice, and i really wanted to try everything on the menu!
Very tasty food. Ordered the Fried pork chop with Japanese curry omelette rice with Buy 1 get 1 free promotion via Uber, and my family enjoyed the food very much.
Awesome selection of food, drinks and desserts, and the restaurant is open until 4AM. To me, this spot here is a hidden little gem here in North York. Delicious food, good service, it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye with a clean environment, and there is a wide range of musical genres and cultures represented. Very nice.
There’s two restaurants that’re side by side with separate entrances and unconnected with a door to another store right in between them. It was mid-afternoon when we went and not busy at all so we sat and chatted for quite some time. We noticed a server kept going back and forth between the two restaurants. It was mostly to take stuff over to the other one.
We ordered the fried tofu and a Dutch baby pancake. The tofu was freshly taken out of the fryer and very hot! Some of the sauce was drizzled on top and more was provided in a small dish for extra dipping.
When we first saw the Dutch baby pancake it reminded us of Yorkshire puddings but of course this was very different. It was difficult getting a little bit of everything in one bite, the red beans or jelly would keep falling off the fork. We tried it with ice cream and without ice cream and without a doubt it was much better with the ice cream. The ice cream creamy and had good matcha flavour.
Great food and a great experience. When we got there, we just had to use a touch screen to put in our phone number and name to wait and then relax. When we got seats the atmosphere was great and he food came very quickly. Price, taste and quality were excellent. Will definitely be going again.
Love to come here for Taiwanese desert and drinks. The Yonge and Finch location the better than First Markham Place location. Their spciy beef noodle soup hot pot is the best.
Terrible service. Lies about hours of operation. I came at 1: 30 am they said they won't serve me when they clearly had began serving other customers. I hope it was not racial because they laughed as I left and others came in. Just fix your hours of operation or tell us openly you profile racially.
The food is amazing, everything is in there from desserts to food and snack. We tried something different "Salted egg with honey butter bread" it was delicious.
