Mackay's No Frills

This store always has horrible customer service they do not care about their customers. When when I asked to speak to a manager, they basically said it's not their problem and on top of all that every time I ever come to the store I can never get everything on my grocery list. Their stock is always awful. They are lucky they're in a small town, and the choices are limited. I would love to never ever come here again.

No Frills as expected. Got what we came for (whipped cream) and a bit extra from the flyer loss leaders. Had Honey BBQ

Shelves are bare. Often sells out. I can get over that however. Today, went approx 530. All self checks outs full. No cashier's open. 4 employees standing/leaning up against the end of the conveyors having a loud personal conversation. Couldn't pay because the help light was still on. Was truly not happy with today's visit. I'll make a point of going to another grocery in future

A little short on the weekly specials by Tuesday already.the week has 7 days, not 5.a bit disappointed

Love this grocery store. Only thing is sometimes shelves are scarce but I feel like that is global not the chain

My favourite grocery store! I still drive 40 minutes just to shop here. Always a great experience, not as busy as larger city stores.

This is a good no frills cleaner than most of the other no frill stores I've been to the South checkout line was very convenient

I found the head cashier very rud and complained about a man parked beside here car and as she was training some of my groceries were pushed of the end of the conveyor by the trainer along with there is a supply chain issue with selfies being empty.
I have shopped their for a year and now I will take my business to sobies just around the corner because of this lady.
Very bad experience.

Horrible customer service. I left $200 worth of groceries after an hour wasted trying to shop with toddler. To be told I had to wait inline again to pay cash for my groceries. Im a local and local business owner with 17 years experience in Retail customer service. I would never have treated my customers that way. And if my staff did it would be the last time! My child left so upet because he is too young to understand why we had to leave everything. The unfriendly Lance needs some customer service skills. I will go out of my way to not support this store! This is not the first time I have had bad customer service at the store, but enough is enough.

Over the past couple years I've been finding prices are getting high (compared with Stratford No Frills), the staff can be unattentive. But the selection (Organic section) has increased!

No hand baskets because of covid. Aug 22. You can have a small buggy if you pay for it. Big buggies are free.

Supply chain issues has this normally well stocked store have bare shelves. It's unfortunate for all.

I have been there 3 times in 2weeks just to get Smuckers Strawberry Jam. Not once has McKays had it available on their shelves. This is not the only product we have gone in to get and the shelves have been empty. This is so unacceptable! I feel this No Frills store ihas totally gone downhill. We are thinking of aking our business elsewhere.

Such a great store, so calm, so welcoming, just a great place to shop in if you are going that way.

Things have really gone down hill lately at this store. Most of the fruit and vegetables don't last long because it goes bad with in a couple days. The shelves are hardly ever stock

I understand times are tough for businesses. A food supplier, though? This is an essential business.
Save money and reduce costs, shouldn't be at the expense of 10 people in each line at only 2 open tills. This really puts the stress on the cashier and irritates the consumers.

Hit this No Frills on Sundays after visiting my mom. Nice to see people actually stocking shelves unlike Walmart.

The Mackay's do a fantastic job of keeping this "no frills" store TEN steps above the "no frills" stereotype. The store is always clean and well stocked with high quality goods! I wanted to thank the Mackay's for keeping open and keeping positive throughout the whole COVID era. Awesome job! And awesome store!

Was not happy with the diffrent units of weight.they have prices in lbs on the signs but is in kg when you get to the register so you cant know if its the correct price or not

TERIIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE & POOR QUALITY OF PRODUCE. This store has gone downhill really fast after the new owner. I give 0 for Customer service. Their cashiers are RUDE, ARROGANT and Judgmental. Prices are always coming out wrong. If you point that out to them they act as if customer has done some crime. Most of the checkouts are always closed until big lineups happen but all the young staff is chatting by self checkout counter. If you ask them for help at Self checkout they are not willing to help. I used to look forward to shop at No-frills before now I dread to go to that store. Not just Customer Service but Quality of Product is also going down.before they used to mark down items when they were still in usable condition.now the New Owner is so greedy he waits till the product is no longer usable and some of the products are expired when they are marking it down.overall very disappointed the way they treat their customers. I AM NEVER SHOPPING AT THIS STORE EVER.

Awesome staff! Mackey's No Frills will price match your purchases. The cashiers are friendly and sooo patient and never make you feel as if you are a difficult customer. As well, their produce department is A+ for selection, quality & freshness. We shop here every Thursday even though I have 2 very large grocery stores in my neighborhood of Waterloo.

Cleanest and friendliest No-Frills I've been in in a long time, staff is very helpful, and unlike a lot of other no frills locations it's a lot cleaner then the ones in Kitchener

This store always have excellent value for the public. Very clean the staff goes out of there way help. We drive 15 km to get here.

I try hard to support local but when the produce is rotten, store is dusty and filthy, shelves are bare constantly, it's hard to stay in town. Unfortunately this location just keeps getting worse so we are forced to shop in the city.

Having to ask cashier standing around self checkout for a bag is ridiculous. I asked for 2 once, and she said she thought I needed 3 which I had to pay for. I needed 2.then had to wait for her to void 1 out.just ridiculous waste of time, and salary for person pushing broom around so she can be there to hand out bags. And they're not friendly. Prices no different really than regular big name store.

My Mom who is 85 yrs old just came from no-frills in New Hamburg.
One of her products was romaine lettuce and yes she was at the self-checkout.
When she asked for help she was told that she was on self-checkout and to enter the lettuce on the screen under products my mother replied she had done this.
When the Romaine lettuce still would not scan she asked again for help.
A very disgruntled woman came over and entered “lettuce”, my mother assumed there would be a. “ romaine lettuce button’.
At the time of paying Mom could not see the screen on the pad used to pay and again asked for assistance same woman yelled at her two cash registers away that she was on self-checkout and to look up and follow the directions.
Mom again tried to see the screen and again asked for some help, the same woman came over told her again she was at self-checkout and she could have gone to one of the cashiers, or SHE COULD SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE!
That's how you treat a customer?
Mom said there was no one in the store and this woman and another cashier were just talking to each other when she asked for assistance.
85 years old and you're that disrespectful that my Mom comes home in tears.

Used to shop at No Frills all the time. First time back in a long time. Prices are very high and selection kinda sucks, especially for fresh meat

Good place / good prices.
BUT if you go first thing in the AM, there is always only one cashier out of 7 or 8 check-outs. It is madness, it's certainly busy enough to have another open. It's always like this, even during a pandemic, so end up with ppl clustered together waiting ages.

I do not appreciate being told that the store closes in 2 minutes before I even enter the doors. If you're open until 8, I should be allowed to enter the store until 8. What if I just needed something small? I very likely would have been out of there before some of the other people who were already in the store. Maybe you should tell your staff not to turn away customers before your closing time.

Produce is hit or miss. Sometimes you find fully rotten fruit, other times it's not close to ripe ‍️

Pretty decent store! Most of the children working are pretty #coolandfriendly, but the store is pretty small and not as nice as the others! The younger kids like grade 9 and 10 r better than the older, kind of annoying teens who always are sighing, the owners seem like they could be doing more work tbh tho! But yeah I wish they didn’t play mirrors so much, it’s too long of a song

The receiver doesn’t know how to talk to drivers.i was delivering and he was really disrespectful i had to go outside while he was receiving.this kind of guys are ruining other people’s day.

This is a smaller, older store with tighter aisles. Produce section is quite good. While it doesn't have charm or sophistication of newer stores it offers the best pricing around here on most staples. Good neighborhood store! Always well staffed so things move quickly even on very busy days.

Shopping tonight June 8/21 about 1/2 hour before closing and had to "run the gauntlet" of 4 employees having a "chit-chat" blocking access to the self check-outs. When we spoke up for them to give us our 6ft of space, one if them (a female) said condensendingly "there are other options you know, like going through the normal checkouts".
We use self check-out to lessen contact with others. We told her that we will return in the morning and speak with the manager and she said "I am the manager on duty". We then said we will complain to owner in morning and she said "he won't tell you anything different than what I'm saying". We then realized that while we were shopping, she was the same employee rushing past us on more than one occasion in the aisles without giving 6ft of space.
Depending upon how the conversation goes with the owner tomorrow morning, this may have been our last time at this location.

Long line ups at the till. Always eveytime. They wont open extra tills even with employees standing around talking with themselves. Its like this everytime. Store is clean and tidy, good products.

I was in there a few days ago.a young man named Deegan greated me at the door.great customer service.aswell as great prices.

Clean and organized. The staff is made up mostly of teenagers and the gossip non stop. It's actually funny overhearing them each week.

FYI “We won’t be beat” is not true. Not all price matching is honoured. Even if it’s coming from a reputable flyer app. I was told they don’t match with every company. They showed me a list but didn’t allow me to take a picture for future reference. They told me to write it down. The youthfulness of the staff sometimes lacks common courtesy, common sense, good customer service skills. It could have been handled better. I don’t expect much from No Frills but “ We won’t be beat” is not true.

Love this food store! Best prices around and you can price match if they aren’t. I like the roominess inside too, especially during this Covid-era. Compared to Sobey’s in New Hamburg, it’s immense!

Not organized at the checkout. I was waiting to get to the checkout and people kept going in front of me. I got to the conveyor and the young girl snapped at me for putting my reusable bag on the conveyor. I didnt know this. I think she could have been a little more congenital.

The store was clean and we'll stocked. Not too busy and people where respectful of the Covid rules.

Staff are nice, and store is clean. They have a great selection of vegan "cheese" and yogurt, which is great for my kids with dairy allergies.

I went to buy salad and few other stuffs. First of all the duty manager is worst. She doesn’t know how to talk to the customer. The products were on wrong spot and she was arguing with me that I chose the wrong product. Before the duty manager came other cashier checked twice regarding that product. Worst worst customer service. Don’t recommend at all.

Great grocery store enroute to home from Shakespeare. It is tucked away a bit so a bit of a challenge to figure out how to get to the parking lot. Needed vegetables. They looked fresh. Easy to find the other basic items I was looking for prior to my camping trip that afternoon.

Since this pandemic this store has gone down hill they don’t clean carts nor belts at cash out and as well there staff push you to get you stuff off the belt so they can cash out other people and your trying to pack your groceries in your bags, staff was rude. Other then that good price’s but will not return to this one

Good value, unfortunately getting rid of dome tills in favour of self checkout, which I always try to avoid.

The store was well stocked, and clean. Good specials, and they had Christmas Trees for sale this week.

You should check out customer service in Sobeys and other stores regards to dealing with Covid. You do not care and a give poor supports. Check other stores. A nice greeting card and Carts are cleaned as you come in and you see it done. Arrows not like your everyone going in all directions. No direction at check out everyone all o ver lined up in isles. Come you have people standing doing nothing. Often few checkout open. We want get out of store soon as possible. Do not be so cheap doing these trying times. Especially for older seniors. Care for our community like Sobeys. We are all into this together. I hate going into your store during these trying times which will go on for a while. Help us feel comfortable. Don"t be so cheap. Hope to see some changes soon.

Love the store but today (Monday) out of almost all their specials that I drove 45 min for. Very unsatisfied

Disappointed in how this store is constantly out of stock on so many items. They seems to never stock shelves and when the adults aren't working the teens tend to spend more time flirting and hanging around than doing anything.

I understand that occasionally they sell put faster than they can stock, but weekly for the entire summer and into fall is alittle much.

I'll be making sure I make the drive to Kitchener/Waterloo although I would have preferred to keep it local.

I hope they fix this issue as a few months ago (yes even during the start of quarantine) this seemed to be not a problem.

This place is absolute trash. The cashier told my elderly mother who had her lung collapse that she should, "mind her own business" when my mom asked her if she thought maybe she should be wearing her mask on her face instead of on her chin. Then told my mom, "I have no time for this" when my mom said, "everyone is safer if we both wear one though".

Very impressed with no frills in new hamburg. I came with my husband to shop i was in wheel chair and my husband could not push me and the cart. A worker there pushed our cart as we got groceries and helped us out at the self serve check out as my husband has never used one before. Then the young man help take our groceries to the car. We were very impressed and thankful. The workers there are friendly and helpful.

Love this store. If you're going to price match make sure you screen shot the ad the internet doesn't really work in the store.

Very clean, great produce and well stocked with sale items and great shelf facing. However if the store is a bit slow the younger staff seem to huddle together and laugh and joke around. They seem not to care that you are waiting for a cashier, they can see you but continue on with their friends. Then they try and push your groceries right down the belt beside the belt that has someone else's groceries. I told her I would wait till the other customer was finished she said no it's 6 ft. When I get to the end to pack my groceries and the other person is packing their groceries, that width might be 3 ft. So I started again that I would wait and she replied well that's our policy in a very rude tone. Your policy doesn't keep me safe as we are both packing. So I just refused to put my groceries on the belt till the other person was finished. There was other cashiers and empty lanes why wouldn't they use one rather than shove us all down one? Cause they may have to keep a float in the till until closing or God forbid clean it again? The no frills in Mt Forest has it together in this area, you must wait till a customer is gone on a lane and then they sanitize even the debit card reader, then the next person checks out. I think at this store management needs to train more in customer service, it would definitely improve your store if your employees went a little above and beyond rather than just only doing what a policy states.

This is my favourite place to get groceries and Ill come once every so often from waterloo because of it! Such a clean, open, and well lit supermarket with everything such as the isles, prices, etc easily identifiable. Have some great specials in the flyer as well so would recommend checking it out!

. It's like they have a phone block in here. You cant use your own cellular data.and they don't offer wifi. So there's no chance in you even trying to price match here! There's been countless times where my husband has called me to add something to our list and the calls shorts out because the reception in here is horrible. The selection isn't as great as some of the other No Frills I've been too.

Always friendly staff and great prices! This is not really close to my home but is often along my travelling routes and i usually see familiar faces. Don't even need to deposit any money for the cart!
