The servers were great but the food was terrible, we ordered kara dosa which was nothing but chilli flakes and the pav bhaji dosa and panner dosa was so sweet and tasted horrible and the food is too expensive based on the flavouring if u r looking for a good dosa place visit dosa twist just a few meters away

Walked in on a Sunday afternoon and the food and service were both below par. Ordered an Uttapam which came out burnt and a Rava Masala which was soggy. Both were quite bland and tasteless. The only saving grace was the Idli which was actually good. Have been here twice before during weekdays in the afternoon and the same dishes were really good and tasty. Not sure if I will return in the future.

We was ordered idly and vada in this restaurant. Customer service is pleasant but idly doesn’t cook well, i was seen hair pieces top of the chutney jar also foods are too expensive to compare with other South Indian restaurants. I’m living around this restaurant almost 7 years but i never go this place but first time I went today and never want to go here.

Nice restaurant, but has some cringe options for dosa rest it is good a must visit in etobicoke area.

Food was okay service was also good but be prepared to pay mandatory 13% tip. I don’t think its worth it. Just ripping off people…. Would not recommend to anyone. Better to go annalaxmi or gurulaxmi.

Food quality is not good as it was earlier. Everytime you go there- Sambhar and dosa taste different someday it is spicy someday salty or mild on other. It depends on chef personal taste I gurds. 7 days in week and they will have seven different dosas and sambhar. It depends on your luck if you are visiting them on good day or not.it is not worth the price for dosa. Though the staff is always good and nice.

Had my first dosa after 2 years (thank you Covid) ooooh my goodness, sooooo amazing! Done perfectly well. The sambar was also perfect. Could have all been a little spicy. But I understand. Topped it off with a Lassi made with my liking. Thank you all.

Food was ok, waited 45 mins for food and gratuity is a scam cuz it should be charged for a group of people not for 1-2 people.

I loved the dosa thank you for it I appreciate it you guys are so kind and thank you for not being too late that’s all I have to say thank you. And please be make chutney little bit spicy.

Pathetic customer service!

We went in today to have Bada, Idli and Dosa at 3: 30 pm on Oct 24. We had some left over idli to take out and server clearly refused us to give separate take out container for gravy stating it’s against management policy. Can you believe it? You want me to take out dry “Idlis” and chuck them away at home? What if someone orders for home delivery? Server did realize her mistake or management I should say and brought me gravy in separate container but it was too late by then as I had already put the gravy in normal box. (Kindly See picture) but over all this is insulting behaviour by staff and management. All they wanted to say is pay for left over food but you are not allowed to take it out?

This was the worst experience we had on auspicious day of Diwali.
The service was not good at all and we were amazed that above all they take gratuity on bill for the service they provide.
The restaurant was not busy yet we waited for and hour and half to get our food, that too by asking them for it on bill counter.

Order food with no onions specifically but onion was added to they food and upon showing it to them, they were making and excuse that it might be mushrooms. C’mon really!

Over all worst experiences for me and my family!

It it was up to me, I wouldn’t give them a single star at all!

Best place to have dosa…. Clean place and following all covid procedure… staff Is so nice and welcoming….

My first time having dosa and it was amazing. My partner has ate dosa for many years and she said this one was the best she ever had. All the food was fresh and very flavorful.
I will be there again when I am in the area.

We were there yesterday. What a difference between now and before. The place was bright, airy and so clean. The sambar which they placed on our table was hot and delicious. It was a very good experience especially as we were hosting. Our guests loved it too. We ordered vadas and idlis for starters, they were so fresh. Then the huge dosas were delicious and my hubby opted for a Goat curry and rice which he loved and bought an extra one to bring home. Keep it up guys.

I used to love going there almost every weekend. But now the service they provide especially on the weekends is terrible. Long Wait time to get the order, dirty dishes and less people to serve a large number of customers.
Number of customers are more & people serving at Madras Dosa are merely 3-4 who are just running here & there. Dishes were not washed properly last time I visited, when asked to wash it properly they didn't come back until half an hour. When the order arrived, it came but there was no water on the table till then. Service is now getting disgusting & disappointing.
However, the Food is delicious. But they are not organized anymore.
Asked to bring a box to take away the left over food, the service people never returned back.
Charged with Gratuity without even asking! Horrible Place to Visit.

Not a good place. All side chutney were sour. Which means it was not fresh. I ordered onion uttapam and that dough was also not fresh, it tasted sour too. Service was extreme poor. We ordered dahi vada, idly, vada and uttapam. They made us to eat from one bowl. How can you eat idli sambhar in same plate in which you are dahi vada?
After good served, not even single visit to check on us. We called the server to give us extra plate, spoon etc.

If there was a negative review option I would have selected -5, the food was good, sambhar was stale, however they conned us on the name of giving 15% discount to VIP customers, as we were charged 13% gratuity without our knowledge.

The dosa was good at the original restaurant, I haven’t been since. The inside is not that greatly maintained and feels dingy.

If you wish to eat a good Indian food somewhere around Islington and Albion visit this place. You would find huge "Dosa" here. Good service.

Its my decision whether to put tip or not if i like the food then yes but why would you charge and dont return the money when asked for. These guys are thieves! Will never visit again

Favorite dosa place in the west end. Their dosas are not too spicy, but still have amazing flavour. They also make a delicious salt Lassi. It's a bit expensive now days, so I can't go as often as I would like.

It is a crowded restaurant and the servers were overworked but clearly helpful. The food however does not translate to the service.
The rasam was wonderful and tasted fresh however the vada was extremely hard and difficult to chew wonder if it was frozen.
The chutneys can be avoided, they had vinegar in the green chutney or something similar that completely ruined its flavor.
The dosas were generally good and no complaints there.
The place is extremely expensive and I don't see a reason for the same but was full so I believe works for most people. Our fault that we did not check the price before ordering, have had what was probably the most expensive salted Lassi in the GTA at $9 for about 200ml.
I have never ordered or eaten from here pre pandemic coz I was warned, so I am not sure if they were always this expensive or is it a recent occurence.
The gratuity added is fine but like other reviews, u agree, they should let the customer know beforehand rather than telling them at the billing counter.
Anyhow the only dosa serving restaurant open till late in the area is a big advantage to them. Would most likely not return.

Their service is as normal indian restaurants not top of the line.
Table cover was white and dirty having yellow stains. Some dosa pieces were lying on chairs.
On top of all this they wanted me to pay while i am eating coz they wanted to close the shift.
Food was ok not extra ordinary good.
Limited parking
On top of all this they charge 15% gratitude money in the bill. I couldnt see that and i paid tip on top of the gratitude money that is forced on you even if you dont like the services

When a South Indian restaurant try to become a Wanna be Gora (white restaurant) it becomes this kind of restaurant. Horrible food, expensive. Will not recommend this restaurant… food is not worth.

BEST DOSA PLACE! Been there many times! Worth it! I like how their quality of food it. No other place that I know of gives loose sambar and chutney! You can pour as much as you want which is the best and filling of dosa is great too!
Only downfall is that in the past I have had to wait 2 hours for table and food order to come.

Worst service i had received ever. I ordered one dosa, Rose faluda and uttapam. But they messed up my order and when asked about it they didn't even say sorry. We got one plain mysore masala dosa after one hour and got sambhar 10mins after receiving dosa. But no uttapam. Food is tasty at this place but they need to improve the service

I have been going to this restaurants for many years because we love the Dosa. The food is pretty good but they always overcharge you and then when you ask they apologize and say we made a mistake. They also charge you gratituty and don't even mention it to you. I never used to check my bill but someone had mentioned that it happened to them and surely it happened to me a few times.

Restaurant is clean and spacious, staff is friendly. Loud music though.
Nice presentation of food, taste is only OK. Chutneys and Sambar served in abundance.
Food taste not very good like the dhanya dosa, chole bhature and puri sabzi. Not authentic taste.

I would give a "zero" if I can.awful service.food came out cold.waitresses had no clue what to do.tipping is mandatory like it or not (automatically added in your bill). Every time different server will show up.they don't even offer you water untill asked for.

Expensive. Food is good, nicely presented but prices are still high for that. You can get similar taste or even better at much better price.

Bad food experience today, I bought two Dosa and paid 36$ but after ate only little Dosa I have a stomach pain and it taste different then before one because I think they switched the cook or franchise, before I liked to buy Dosa from madras Dosa hut but sorry to say really Dosa not looks good as before (it is to much chewy and thick) and does not taste well too.

Worst food ever, we ordered chole bhature and chole were the worst (how can someone make such bad chole I am surprised), plus sambhar felt like dal tadka, it was chana dal and not even toor dal, and they charge heavily for the items. Such bad food and paying 100$ really hurts. Wanted to give -1 but there is no option. Really badddd food, never ever coming back to this restaurant

Good food. Sambar and chutneys are ok as compared to other South Indian eateries. Their Mutton Curry was amazing. Very homely taste. Good service. Very clean and nice dining place.

Their 3 dosa combo is worth try and very affordable! Utthapam is tasty as well. Idlies are okayish and dry to be honest. Sambhar is okayish too and not that good.

Today, I tried Dosa from this place. Service was good. I didn’t wait for long.

However, taste was normal and prices are so high. Not sure what is the reason

Nice and clean restaurant.nice spacious seating.parking is limited but free.they offer free sambhar with dosa.we ordered poori plate.pav bhaji masala dosa.mysore masala dosa.kara masala dosa and cheese dosa.they offer variety of sauces as well.the dosa with sambhar and sauces is quiet filling and a good value for money.the total bill was $115 including tip.we also ordered chocolate faluda which was not impressive.the food othedwise tastes good.its a goto place for Dosas for us.please like ny review if it helped.thanks

Very terrible experience with this restaurant.not enough staff or they don't know how to treat customers!? I don't know we waited at the front door to be seated by someone more than 20 minutes. THEN one staff approached and said, ”will call you in 10 mints”. Again we waited almost 20min. We were just TWO and saw some tables are waiting to clean up. They taking too much time to coordinate everything! We showed our maximum patience, As it was too late to go for another place to have dinner. We saw that some guys ignored in the same way Left that place immediately. Unfortunately, we didn't have another option to leave.

The staff should have to be professional and treat their customers in a proper way if you want to build up your business. The food is also not good.that was really funny when we saw the garlic, NAN. Dear owner, don't you feel shame to serve that kind of small NAN to Indians? We are not that much ’picky’ but we have to say this place is overpriced with low quantity food when compared to other restaurants!
Another weird thing there is a fixed gratuity! I never have seen fixed gratuity anywhere like that from each and every customer! If you want to take the tip in that way please let the customers know before placing their orders! This is kind of Robbery. Sorry to say that! That is our choice to give how much tip.not yours! Never going to recommend this a place to anyone! If someone not happy with the customer service still you want to force them to pay the tip? It's not fair! Check your reviews. Lots of them mention it as well. We didn't see anywhere in your menu about the gratuity, even its there that should not be hidden from the customers!

The food was good. The sambar was nice, chutneys were ok. They serve the sambar in a flask which keeps the sambar warm all along your dinner. The dosas was alright with less baking soda. Sambar vada was very average, would buy it again. There was a thali option as well, the portions in the thali we're small but good. They are open till late. The atmosphere was good with clean tables.

Worst Dosa Ever. 1st n last here. Asked for roast n that was a mistake and dosa was too salty n oily. Asked for podi onion dosa and there was no onion in it and when asked I was given sweet onion on the side. Don't come here. I urge.

Don't give tip cause it's already forced on your bill by 13%, kind of ridiculous as we were only four people.
Food is delicious, sauces are not.

Two stars just for the madras coffee. I will never choose this restaurant for dosa. Dosa was crispy and looked amazing but tasted sourness, left us unsatisfying.

Food quality and taste is declined greatly ;rotten old food, could smell that and risked to taste and confirmed that it was old food. It used to be my favourite restaurant in 2012.they charge 13% extra on your bill which is ridiculous. That should be customers’ choice how much tip they want to give. Never going there again.there are so many other reasonable and better South Indian restaurants in GTA, owner should know that.

Worst place now, they force customers to pay TIP even they don’t deserve, dosa is good but all sauces are stale and smell weird.not healthy to eat there anymore

I order Dahi Vada, chicken biryani and both of the items on the menu was not great compared to other dosa restaurants I have gone. The dahi vada was too salty and had to fight with the servers. In the end the customer had to pay for it.

Not a good experience. Food was really not good this time. All the guest that I had with me were not happy at all.

Not an authentic South Indian place. The coconut & tomato chutneys lacked the spice. Madras coffee came in a mug instead of stainless steel cup, the coffee had cardamom which a true madras coffee will not have. They played hindi songs. The name of the restaurant has Madras in it and yet it was remotely not close. Was quite dissappointed.

Came here on a diwali night and ordered two appetizers, a main and two drinks, the place was not even crowded, despite that, after 45 minutes of placing our order, we had to go up to the counter to ask how much more time it was going to take and the answer that we heard from the chef was “another half an hour” and not to mention the people that ordered after us got their order before us. Which place on earth takes an hour and 15 minutes to serve appetizers that too on a week night? The cherry on the cake was their unsatisfying apology.

Rotten old food! It was surprising to see such stale sambhar served, chutneys adulterated with unmistakable large dose of vinegar to keep them from rotting. They couldn't even get that dosa masala right! Worse, 13% Gratuity is pre-loaded. On the upside, staff is courteous, good location and nice ambience but then again - with the prices comparable to sarvana bhawan and guru lakshmi's of the world, and food quality deplorable - wouldn't recommend at all.

Delicious food quick and good service. Had the thali and Masada dosa. Unlimited Chutney and Sambar! And not too spicy.

Me with my wife went over there today and was shocked with 13% gratuity on our bill. When asked from the server he said its written on the menu.but i never saw it anywhere neither were there any signs about it. This is so wrong it means we are paying 26% of our bill no matter if its one person or more whether we like the food/service or not.we would love to pay tips as per our wish not in this manner.we havnt seen it anywhere.it’s misrepresentation of facts.

Money hungry people. They are charging 13% gratuity for single person also. Not advisable to go there.

They sold the restaurant to a new owner. Not the same vibe, service is very slow with only one server only working on a busy night (diwali night). Change of menu is not great. My family and I had to wait 20 minutes for our order to be taken and when we wanted glass of water the server kept ignoring us telling us she will be back every 10 mins. So we had to go up to the counter and ask this other server who just came in for backup. The food was not as expected as it used to be before by the previous chef. My mom received her dosa burnt and had to send it back to the kitchen. I understand they were short staffed but they should really have backup plans on when they run into situations like this. ALSO beware they charge you 13% gratuity even if its under 5 people. We were not told or given any sign on the menu for this charge. With the service I received I don't think i should be even paying that 13%. Overall i will not be visiting this place anymore.

I wish I had zero stars, was my first and last visit to this place.by far the most pathetic south indian place I have visited in Toronto. Service was delayed, menu was provided after 10 mins of seating, the table was given tissues, spoons and water on asking specifically for everything, food tasted bad and I have eaten at several dosa outlets. My Rava masala dosa was burnt tasting, everything was overpriced and you really dont mind paying for a tasty food not like here. They charged gratuity of 13% on the bill automatically for a serving of 3 adults. Also cash payment was 10% off which they never gave proactively.do yourself a favour and save your money by skipping this one there are lot of better south indian places in toronto.

Had a very bad experience today at the restaurant. J ordered a non veg thali but the rice which was served to was just like plastic because it was taken out of the freezer and it was heated in microwave and served. When told upon to the server the lady asked me what can i do i said u serve me a nan they are selling nan which we all can buy from a convenience store because the nan was heated in a pan. Now lets go to the goat meat which was served the was hot but was very hard from inside i uploaded a pic of it it is easily understood that how they are selling food buy taking it out of the freezer. The meat was so dry from inside that i had to use a glass of water to gulp it. So i will suggest each and every fellow restaurant goers to avoid this restaurant at ni8 because the only serve food which is cooked in the morning specially the rice items and meats.

I will never visit this place. I visited too many restaurants in Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga they will charge GRATUITY only on groups more than 8 people. Yesterday we went over there just 2 adult & 1 kid we had a food and bill is around $50 with tax and they charge gratuity on my bill. I was surprised. Another lady came with their guest and ordered for them and their kids. But employees forget order for kids. She came first time and she told at counter that this was my last time. Even I m not going in future.

Plus this hotel charges 13% as service charge.

I ordered paneer dosa and guess what i got paneer was raw white pieces on dosa.thats it.uncooked paneer.not wortg

1: dirty restaurant: If dining area is dirty like mess then we can think about their kitchen.
2: service: we were 4 they serve us 3 plates, spoons and forks for 3, no napkins at all. They don't care about serving us food, not even they want to take empty plates back.
3: compulsory 13% gratitude: shameful that they ask for compulsory gratitude without any standard of service or food.
4: bill mistake: they charged $10 for $6 item. When we asked them why? They made a correction by hand and without apologies asked us for new total.
5: food: no taste at all. Chutney they served were taste like years old.

If I could give zero or negative start to this restaurant. I would have given -ve 5 stars for this junk area.

Rude staff. Denied us to take out our dinein food. Dosa wasn't tasty either. Just okay for the hefty price they charge. There are lots of other dosa places with better money and fair price.

Very bad experience. I ordered a dosa and there was a mosquito inside dosa. When I returned it there was no apoplogy from staff and moreover they were very rude and unprofessional and charged me too for same.
When I denied to pay then they inform their manager.

Food was good but the automated gratituty isnt justified. Its my money and it should be my choice based on quality of service.

It takes forever to get service but they could improve a bit to make it much better.
