This place serves really good South Indian cuisine. If you want to have Idli, dosa or wada you must visit this place. We had ordered Idli, wada and filter coffee
This is my favorite South Indian restaurant in Toronto. Everything is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the Badaami chicken and curries but everything is delicious
Excellent food and service by Aju, very friendly and helpful, offered good recommendations. Great addition to our exploration of Toronto’s ethnic cuisines. Patio is a plus!
Had the Masala Dossa and Veg Thali. Sambar is so well balanced. Coconut chutney took me home in one bite. Really enjoyed the food, service, and outside patio vibe.
The Dahi Wada and Chilly Idli were spectacular as starters. The main course however, faltered. The Butter Sada dosa was like a roti, soft and cold. The chicken curry served with it was pretty good, though the Sambhar was below average.
The best South Indian restaurant in toronto gotta be Madras Masala! Foods are really great. I never heard of paneer pakora before and i tried it for the very first time and it was so yummy. They also have a lot of varieties on their menu. They serve alcohol as well. They got a parking by the restaurant itself so you don’t have to pay for parking! Also they are located 3 mins away from christie station.
Tried the chilli cheese dosa and it was really tasteful, its apparently a popular choice here and i can definitely vouch for it. The chicken lollies are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served on a sizzling platter. Was reallly good too, definitely a must have.
I go to this place very frequently and I love their quality of the food. The staff is very friendly and listen to your specific needs. The Idli chilly and Onion chilly uttapam is our usual order and be careful of the spice if you can’t handle spicy food. The food is not at all oily and the taste is 10/10.
This place has been our favorite south Indian restaurant for over 12 years! The complexity of the flavours in their curries are phenomenal. Everything that we’ve had has always been amazing and we always have a hard time not overeating whenever we come here!
Some of our favourites - chicken 65, masala dosa, mushroom mutter, butter chicken, all of their mutton curries (xacutti, hyderabadi, saag), alu gobi, garlic naan, mutton kothu paratha, madras coffee, mango lassi
It was almost closing time when we went, still they received us and served all 10 of us with no hesitation. The food quality was extremely good. The staff was extremely friendly and the place is very clean. Special thanks to Jeffy who took great care of us. 10/10 would come again:)
We ordered from here for the first time and it turned out to be delicious. The packaging was amazing. We had ordered Masala Dosa and Idly. Both dishes were tasty.
Ordered Chettinad Biryani, Mysore Masala Dosa, Malabar Kozhi Chicken Curry. Each dish is very delicious and mouth watering from the 1st bite. Never thought of tasting some real south indian dishes in Canada. Keep up the quality! Will order again.
I have always ordered delivery from madras masala multiple times and I will definitely keep coming back. One of the best Indian restaurants in Toronto. The variety of dishes make this place my go to spot when I crave South Indian food. Would love to visit the restaurant and eat at the restaurant once instead of delivery every time. Hope I get the opportunity to do that.
Reviewing in May 2021: This is still one of the best restaurants in Toronto. I have tried so so many Indian restaurants and they have all disappointed me at least once but not this place. The chicken (meat) is always good and at least they use white meat and not the dark like few restaurants in downtown (who also charge you big don’t know why). This is affordable even being in downtown. Do try chicken Manchurian.far far better than the so called Hakka restaurants in town. My favourite here is chicken 65.always.
Review from 3 years ago: Never ever disappointed with the food here.cheapest and best in the city. Hyderabad chicken biryani, chicken 65, Madras masala chicken curry, methi chicken are all super yummy. Wouldn't suggest south Indian dosa though. There r better places for dosa in Toronto.
This place has no presistency with their food taste. One time you order it's tastes good next time you order it tastes different and bad. People can never say I like a particular dish from this particular restaurant for this restaurant. I don’t know chef lose the confidence with their previous recipe or I don’t know what is wrong. Every time you order you will get a different taste can’t say good or bad. So if you like a surprise and have a ton of money to spend on food please do order. And this review from under eats orders
First time in my life, I felt like rating an order with 6 stars instead of 5. Off course, the food was very tasty and delivered with care by Uber Eats driver but the best thing I observed was the packaging - at least someone has thought about planet earth (unfortunately, the most neglected by the restaurant business). This is the first time, I have seen the curries and food packed in Non Plastic material. This is great initiative specially when the restaurants are closed for dining and delivery is the only option. Well thought and keep it up Madras Masala - you deserve a trophy
I have had two unfortunate experiences with this restaurant while ordering from them on Uber Eats in the recent past. On the first occasion they cancelled the order well after I placed it and gave no explanation why they did so. On the second occasion, I ordered 3 plates of their Papri Chat along with two other items. The Papri Chat was delivered without including potatoes which is one of the chief ingredients and mentioned in their menu write-up of the dish. When I wrote a complaint on their website they completely ignored it and did not respond. I paid close to $50 for the entire meal and deserved to get what I ordered. I have eaten at the restaurant several times prior to the pandemic. But my recent experiences with them on Uber Eats have made me change my opinion of them. I would rather take my custom elsewhere where I hope to be treated better.
The best restaurant.i absolutely love the food here and the very homely and amazing service! Chef Bala and his team need a good star - this place reminds me of home
The Best restaurant. Dosas, curry and everything was excellent. The chefs are experienced and professional coworker as well. I spend a wonderful journey of my life over there as an employee. Moving forward, I would highly recommend for any new people to join the team as an employee or as a customer to visit Madras Masala. Thank you Chef Damu Renga anna, Corporate Chef Bala anna, Chef kubendran anna, Chef Pandi, karthick, Hussien, Vinoth. Good luck guys.
The chef of Madras Masala is a culinary wizard. Everything he makes is amazing. I was there today, ordered 5 things, and there was already another large order from someone else being prepared.the chef was cooking so many things at once.and yet, all of my food was perfect, and prepared so quickly to boot. The breads were perfect. The curries were perfect. The chicken appetizer was so good. The biryani was fantastic. How does he do it. The only Indian food in the vicinity of downtown Toronto that I eat now. Why order from anywhere else.
One of the few places which can make a really good chettinadu biryani. I am eagerly awaiting for when it's safe for indoor dining to resume to try their dosa.
Madras Masala is one of my favorite restaurants in Toronto to order out dosas and other south indian foods. Would highly recommend the place to anyone looking to satisfy their hunger!
By far the best south indian comfort food in downtown Toronto. The idly and vada are definitely very good. The saag chicken too is very rich in flat best tried with their homemade parantha.
Good place for south Indian cuisine. I loved the Rasam. Amazing flavor. Like their variety of dosa types. If you are really hungry try out their thalis. Last but not the least a cup of Coffee will definitely add the compliment to the food you have.
I have been ordering from this place for a few times. But over the days the quality of the food has just gone for the worse - chicken 65 too salty to eat, the Manchurian was dry and over cooked, butter garlic naan I could have thrown this at someone to cause serious harm. Asked for extra raitha and even paid for it but got none. Just disgusted.
It was so delicouse. Not one of our dishes were bad. The lunch special is an amazing value that allows you to try alot of things for a great price. The service was amazing and fast.
We ordered food for the office from Madras Masala and the entire team was extremely happy with their orders. All the Biryanis (Hyderabadi, Coconut Milk, Chettinad, and Veg) are exceptional! Thank you so much to the manager Dhamoo for going above and beyond for us by delivering. We will definitely be placing another order soon!
One of the best South Indian places in Toronto downtown (if you can call it downtown). If you're used to north indian curries, try a paper masala dosa and shake it up. Service is good, taste is different, portions are big, and prices reasonable.
A very good place for dosas, and was waiting for it to reopen. Dosas are excellent though chutney quantity is less and the coconut rice was difficult to ear because of very hard dal and was not as expected. Overall a good place to for south indian food.
Visited Madras masala for the first time after reopening. Food is amazing and a lot more flavourful than before. Every dish was cooked to perfection. Ghee masala dosa, sambhar, chilli paneer and chicken fried rice. Can't wait to go back!
Was skeptical before my visit to this place, but anyways took a chance as it was nearest to my location and honestly, it was a great experience. Staff and food was great. Dosa was amazing. Had problem with my credit card and as well as paying the taxi driver, the staff and the owner came to my rescue and saved my day. Would happily recommend this place to anyone. Reviews regarding staffs being rude, proved me wrong. Happy to have made the visit. Thanks to Madras Cafe for the great help as well. Cheers!
We ordered medu vada idli combo, chicken chettinad and wheat roti which was not that great. If any1 wants to have a real indian meal dis place is a big NO! And Service was really bad.
I really like the Pani Puri and Dhai Puri! Although these are just appetizers, they're strangely addicting. The Pani puri tastes very refreshing with the tamarind and cumin water. I wouldn't recommend the Chicken Biryani here, very few chicken pieces and the rice tastes very dry and bland.
Thoroughly enjoyed their ghee roast masala dosa and the idli vada. Their sambhar is out of this world. Just miss having filter coffee here. That could be a great addition to the selection versus the coffee they serve right now. Ambience is decent and service is quick.
