I was just going through a few Security companies in the gta on Google, and I came across a company I applied for pre-covid, I.e, Magnum Protective Services. I was extremely disappointed with the owner of the company during my interview process. While understand that employment is not a guarantee, it was very heart-breaking how it was dealt with. Furthermore, I am disappointed that they advertise that they are a Christian-based company, yet, I perceived discrimination, and believe strongly perhaps a poor reference was given, which would be illegal to had provided. Let it be known to all job seekers out there, "a previous employer is allowed under the law to refuse to provide a reference. However, it is illegal to agree to provide a reference, and report anything poorly about the employee they are providing reference for". This can be very hard to prove however. I went for an interview with one of the company's managers, I felt myself and based on the feedback from the manager, that I pretty much aced the initial interview. More specifically, the knowledge I had currently acquired from working in the industry thus far, and the manager commented that my fire alarm/building alarm protocol and procedure knowledge was spot on! The next day I received a call from this same manager, informing me that he had an opportunity to speak with the owner (I think the owner in this case is the son of the actual owner, pretty young fellow), and to say that the owner has made me an offer and would like me to come in the next day to have a short interview with him. The next day, when I arrived for my interview with the owner, we went over my resume briefly, he had given me a "face" when mentioning I worked previously somewhere else, then he sent me to a room to watch some orientation videos, then after told me that I am not hired by the manager. This was very strange. I called the owner later, to ask why, I didn't really get any specific answer, I told him that I am a Christian and that my wife is a Doctor of Psychology, Doctor of Theology and Ministry, that she works as a Youth Pastor and I volunteer as a Sunday School Teacher in Children's Ministry. I perceived from a comment the owner made that he did not believe me. I was judged for sure, I believe I was discriminated, nor was there any forgiveness, compassion, or chance given based on perhaps a poor relationship with a previous employer. I do know that some of my previous workplaces, I felt my faith or Christianity was not very welcomed. Well it seems like this is the case with this Christian-based Security company. Lastly, I was somewhat shocked that the company is also Korean-based ownership, and I was born in Seoul, South Korea, adopted into a Caucasian family in Canada, yet I was discriminated against. The owner I am referring to is Daniel Lee, I had to read a few more reviews to remember his name. Also to DH Serge, the owners response to you comment on obtaining a First Aid CPR Certificate is false brother. The owner has no idea what he is talking about. I just renewed my certification this year 2023 in February with Rescue 7 and received my certificate the day of! Just like when I did it the first time. Peace!

This guy named Joshua Lee who claims to be an expert in first aid and CPR is a total liar. He charges way too much money and doesn't actually give you what he promises. He told me I would get my certificate in three weeks, but it's been months and I still haven't gotten it from him. And the training he gives is a complete joke. He barely spends any time teaching us, maybe just 10 minutes, and then he gives us a book to read on our own at home. He is a scammer, plain and simple. Only cares about taking our money without actually giving us the proper training and certificate we paid for. It's really shameful and shows he has no honesty or professionalism at all.

Dear Receptionist,
As a female representative of your company and a customer service professional, it's imperative that you treat job seekers with kindness, respect, and professionalism. Unfortunately, your behavior has been disgusting, with your bad attitude creating a negative experience for them.

People visit your office not because they are begging for a job, but because you promised them a job in exchange for a security guard course at an exorbitant price. However, if your company cannot fulfill this promise, it's crucial not to create false hopes about job opportunities.

Please be honest and transparent about job placements and avoid making promises that you cannot keep.

Don’t waste your time!

Here is what happened after half an hour drive to get to the office, finally I got there they kept me waiting for almost 4 hours at same time I filled up a ton of unnecessarily work paper and forms, and on top of that the interview was horrible.

I would never come back even if they call me.do not waste your time look for somewhere else.

Nice people. Employment with them was not the right fit for me. They are still hiring and if you think they are the right fit for you go for it.

Magnum Protectives services is an amazing company to work with, very professional staff under the supervision of Mr. Ben readily available to deal with any emergency. Mr. David Jang and payroll lady Helen are the best people with excellent communication skills, they listen patiently and give the best solution of everything.

Very rude staff i working in this company from last year but they are very unprofessional they are just hiring the guards to increase their staff but they have no work for them every time when i call them for work they simply replied we will let you know but from last four months I didn’t receive any call from their side. They don’t care that their employ is jobless. Whenever they need will show you the sweetness but when u need they didn’t even pick the call. My motive to write the review is that everyone can know their status and how they behave with their employees. From january i didn’t get any job offer from their side. I am very disappointed worst experience i hope you will improve your service.
