I ordered dinner from here Friday night, it was ok but when going for sushi ive learned to inquire if its CHUNK or PUREE as restaurants tend to have two different ways to prepare sushi. One way is in a purée form like flavoured paste. This can also be very rich and often filled with imitation flavours. The best way to get sushi is in chunks, you will get actual full fresh cut chunks of fish in your sushi rolls, the puréed version is simply just not as good. Maki Zushi does not use chunks, they use puree. This is a preference so by no means am I rating them on their food I think it was good and just prefer chunks over the purée, with that being said, everyone that was in the restaurant seemed to be enjoying themselves. The service seems to be very very good and the staff we’re all very friendly while I was waiting for my food, fun atmosphere overall.

The sushi rolls that we got were really great and at a good price point. However the service was quite poor. I told the server that we would like to see the menu for a la carte, but she handed over the tablet and told me it’s for all you can eat. I asked if we can order items individually as I saw it was an option from their website, and the server proceeded to tell me the menu is for all you can eat and left. I had to ask her to come back and press for the other menu.

Very bad food service, it takes forever to be served and servers don't understand and speak proper English

Consistency on their dishes is what my family appreciates. We drove from Toronto to enjoy their delicious dishes

Had the AYCE lunch with a friend on Sunday. We were seated and served promptly throughout our meal. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious; Cheese Wontons, Steak Teriyaki, Crab and Philadelphia Rolls were amazing. It was my first time here, and it did not disappoint. Great service and experience!

A friend and myself came for lunch, and we were very impressed with the food, the quality and the service friendly staff. I’ll definitely come back.

Update: 10/28/23:
Quality of the food is still fine, but they have a new tactic I’m not fond of, which is changing the qty on what you order after you submit it to a lesser count. I thought I was imagining it, but it happened three times in one sitting with different items. I would order something i.e 2 spicy salmon rolls, and then as soon as the system “accepted” the order, the count would be changed to one and they would only bring one.
Based on the fact that the prices have been raised, you would expect that you at least get the food you ordered.

I’ve been to this Maki Sushi several times, and these are my most recent observations (as of AYCE dinner service on 02/15/2018) :

Let’s be clear, the food is fine. Though not Izakaya standard, it’s nonetheless passable for a mass sushi joint.

Atmosphere: It seems like the management is more interested in processing as many people as possible vs.any semblance of ambiance. They’ve added more tables near the entrance and the table we were sat at was within 2 feet of the front door. Other people waiting for a table were allowed to stand directly beside the table I was at and watch us eat.

Service: During meal hour this place gets crushed. You’d better order everything you plan on eating in the first run—as you’ll be lucky if the staff circles around for the next round. Even though you order on the “cool iPad”, your server still needs to manually “send it in” once your selection is done.which kind of defeats the purpose of streamlining your order

The staff for the most part is curt and hurried. The lone “light” was a staff member named Phoebe. Though not our assigned server (not even sure you get an assigned person) she checked up on our delayed order, filled our drinks while we waited, and did her best to expedite it.

Place is clean, service was quick. Food was so so. Beef teriyaki was tough. Miso soup tasted like chicken broth. Rolls were ok.

Salad was just iceberg lettuce with dressing.

There are better places to go in Stouffville.

Really enjoyed trying this place for this time. They had some items I haven't seen before that tasted really good! Will definitely be back here again

Two of us enjoyed a nice dinner on a Monday evening. The restaurant looked very nice. However, it was very busy and the only table available was at the entrance. We did not experience the interior.
The menu was also similar to the few restaurants we visited during the week that offered an 'all you can eat' option on the menu.
The prices were in line with other sushi restaurants.
We chose to eat a-la-carte and the choices were all very good in freshness and presentation. We both particularly enjoyed the Red Tuna Sashimi/Sushi.
Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and feel that we will return to experience their 'all you can eat' buffet.

This sushi resturant is amazing for all you can eat. Definitely recommend all you can eat sushi.

I hate that when you have all-you-can-eat and the wait staff cancels half of it. I'm not sure why.thinking no one needs that many vegan rolls.ummm I do as I don't eat fish.but if I order 3 things, I will only get 1. It's so irritating. Often I wait an hour until the vegan rolls arrive after my family has had 3 rounds of orders arrive.

Otherwise, my family, who eats everything, loves both to eat in and take out. We eat here 12-16 times a year. Mostly dinner but a few lunches.

Always high quality, huge selection, prepared fresh, fast, and consistent.

By far my favorite sushi place in quite a wide area.

Will be going back for all you can eat soon and will post pictures and a longer review.

Everything was amazing, especially the cheese wontons. The all you can eat is a little expensive but if your starving and really need a lot to eat for a low price this is the place to go.

All You Can Eat sushi restaurant located in Stouffville. Huge selections of items on the menu! Friendly attentive staffs and very efficient! Restaurant is conveniently located in the plaza so plenty of parking. One of our favorite go to for sushi.

First of all - we LOVE sushi! Unfortunately we will not be coming back here. We had 2 AYCE dinners plus 2 non-alcohol drinks and the bill was $110 with tip. This was my first AYCE. First - iPad menu/ordering — I loved it - great idea! Second - The service was good - there were no delays in serving food and the staff were nice. Third - Unfortunately the quality and # of sushi options was not there to support the price. The only sushi/sashimi options under the AYCE were Salmon, white tuna, red snapper, egg, (surprising) eel, clam, (maybe) octopus and tofu. The maki rolls were ok - included very little/thin fish. However, I do have to say that nothing tasted like it was “off” which is a very good thing with sushi! Unfortunately this was my last AYCE and my last visit to Maki Zushi.

Server was Suki
Menu does not disclose if vegetarian or not

The fist time the server came, she told be wontons had meat in them, and I asked her to take them off.

I tried to turn off the iPad, and I may have accidently turned of the server. I asked if she removed the wonton, she suddenly started to yell at me about adding them and why I called her a second time. I told her it was an accident and she left in a huff. Will not return

I was quite disappointed by our visit. I had heard only good things about this place so we thought we'd stay local and try it out.
It was Sunday and we wanted to go out for lunch so we made reservations for 6, just in case. We then had to delay our reservation time and called in to do so. The person who took the reservation I guess forgot to mention that the kitchen was going to close within 30 minutes later. We only found this out upon being seated and ordering. This information is helpful before the trip to the restaurant happens! If I would have know that I would have changed my reservation to another day or simply planned on another venue. We were also pretty shocked that my boys has to pay full price. I'm not about to pay $25 for a bowl of rice or noodles and one serving of teriyaki chicken.
So we left and took our business else where. This turned out great because we discovered a new gem in Stouffville right across the street Aras Aroma!
Next time for good sushi & rolls I'll go into Markham or even back to our favorite place in Richmond Hill. The drive will sure be worth it:)
