Makimono Japanese Restaurant

Im a regular at this restaurant love the love quick and great tasting waiters are not annoying like many other restaurants but do look after you. The robot is a cool addition to the staff.

Our family always comes to Makimono for sushi. The food and service is always amazing! Vivian is an especially kind and lovely server.

Currently sitting here for lunch. The worlds most useless waiter is serving me. This guy is out to lunch he has zero attention to those dining I have asked 3 people now for the bill so we can pay and leave but that’s next to impossible! This is the worst service ever. NEVER coming again.

Salad was literally 1 slice of cucumber cut in half, about 5 carrot matchsticks, and a palm size of iceberg lettuce. My rabbit eats better than this. This is the bare minimum in terms of salad.
The “fried” rice was some frozen veggies with boiled tasteless chicken and boiled rice. Nothing fried about it, and zero flavour. Same with the teriyaki chicken. 2 boiled plain broccoli florets, unflavoured chicken and sprouts. The flavour was the teriyaki sauce on the side to pour on it.
Sweet & sour chicken was almost all plain batter and very little chicken inside. The sauce was so fake. The only decent thing was the miso soup.
Very disappointed by the lack of effort, quality and high cost of this order.

2 words. Overpriced and horrible. I had my older brother visiting me from Sweden and we always go to the best and amazing sushi places there. We come here with his family, my family, my in laws, approx 12 adults and each person is 40$ with HST.

The service is absolutely garbage. The first order I did came out one by one very slowly, no one was really getting any sushi because I had a big order since we were 12.

After the first order which still wasn't complete the next order I did came after 1hr 15min. Can you imagine that? The restaurant wasn't even full lol, maybe at 35% capacity.

After stopping the server multiple times and asking where the food is at, still no betterment. Total waste and garbage. We had people driving from Newmarket and Scarborough because my brother had visited, what a shame. Had to apologize to everyone who came because I picked this garbage location.

Please do not come here. They might promise training and coordination for their staff to do better but I read the other reviews just before writing this and it's been like recently and also going back 4-5months. If I was the restaurant owner I would act upon the very first bad review and actually do a big change so the restaurant NEVER gets a review like this but there will be no changes, only empty promises and a diplomatic answer just because it will look bad if they don't reply here.

On top of all this, everyone who reads this.the server added 15% for their SERVICE. WHAT SERVICE? The very less food we got was brought up by the robot so what did they do? Haha horrendous it makes me laugh seriously.

Never, ever here again. Garbage total garbage place!

I love this restaurant. Everything is delicious from the rolls to the deep fried items.you can't loose. Ive been going here for 4 years and bring my sons with me. Their variety of all you can eat even make children happy. Waitresses are usually nice and attentive.

This place is the our go to! The manager is very nice and the server Vivian, hands down very nice!

Vivian was so lovely and was very attentive and the robotic servers were so much fun to watch zip around delivering sushi to all the tables!

The food was OK and decent but I seen hair in two of my foods the first time was salmon and they gave me a whole new one the second time was in the Cream cheese wontons I didn’t even want to complain because at that point it’s just looks sad

The food was good but the restaurant itself was absolutely filthy. Neither the restaurant or the bathrooms had been cleaned in quite some time. I really hope the kitchen was cleaner than the restaurant

Have been getting sushi from Makimono for a few years now. Go to place for sushi. Excellent food, made well and delivered hot. Service and delivery are top notch. Would recommend.

Too pricey for the type of food. Maki and swishing rolls have very little fish in them, lots of rice. Dishes came with very small servings, cold and flavour wasn’t very good. Not coming back. Servers were vey kind tho.

My order tasted off, as in rotten. I asked them to take it back and that I’d order something else. They came back to the table 15 minutes later trying to serve me the plate they had just taken away. By that time my party had finished their meal.

Very typical of an AYCE sushi location. The food is solid, and service was pretty good. Ordering with an iPad makes the experience seamless 90% of the time.

I have been to this restaurant several times now, and every time has been such a pleasure. They’re able to accommodate large groups and they are very kind. I don’t eat seafood and there were tons of options to choose from on the menu.

Makimono used to be my favourite sushi spot but the quality of the food and service has gone down since the pandemic imo which is understandable but still sad. Not worth the price anymore. I tried ordering one of the cocktails but the server turned me down without explanation, still don’t know why. The cheese wontons were icy on the inside and covered in grease-still ate them lol but still dont appreciate it. The only thing going for makimono rn imo is the deep fried custard buns. Other than that, the whole time i was there i would think about all the other places i would have rather spent my money on instead. Unfortunate.

They forgot to pack the noodles for the Wonton Noodle soup couldn't go back for it so disappointed boy. But my Pho was good gave my son some of my noodles‍️

I come here every now and then to enjoy the all you can eat experience. The use of the iPads are very innovative and the menu selection is huge. Good food, food comes super fast because the communication of orders is transferred wirelessly to the kitchen. Many restaurants can learn from this place to use technology to speed up service.

Love coming here for all you can eat sushi. The food is very tasty and the service is great. I recommend the shrimp tempura.

The environment is wonderful, very cozy, luxurious. The food tastes amazing, definitely will be back!

Excellent food and very fast service, our go to place for anything sushi prices are par with other places.

We came yesterday at lunch sitting at table 52. The food was extremely good and the short hair waitress has excellent service and gave her friend a surprised birthday song and a slice of cake. I would recommend to all my friends and family to eat here.

It was just okay! All you can eat is $36.99 dinner price on weekends/holidays with the same price, there are better ones out there. The host should be more welcoming, the service was okay, the food was okay.

I am currently sitting inside the restaurant that I am reviewing and I hope that gives proper indication on how the quality is here. The sushi is subpar at best and the service mediocre. I don’t ask for much in regards to my sushi experience but if you’re gonna charge me 40$ for all you can eat food and it’s not amazing? ! Robbery. PS they need better lighting I can barely see my food.

Our family just moved to Ajax not long ago. Two days ago, our daughter’s 12th birthday, we booked on the open table and came to this AYCE Japanese restaurant near Ajax Costco. This restaurant is well decorated, especially The ceiling is spectacular, there are many booth seats, I use I pad to order food, each product has pictures, it is easier for us to choose. The little Asian girl with the waitress named Yannie was very sweet, the food was served quickly, the sushi was fresh, and there was a missing fried rice. The Server immediately helped me to check the kitchen. The service was very good. Finally, a birthday song was played in the restaurant. Server made a little birthday cake, perfect for a birthday party, I highly recommend this Japanese meal.

Pretty decent ayce sushi. Good value for the money. My only complaint is that some of the food you order never ends up coming. Seems that pretty par for the course with ayce places in general

Why does my orders not come?
Why do I have to ask someone for something I ordered and when it comes it is not the correct order or it is only part of the order.
So after 1 and a half hours I'm so frustrated I left with my family.
150 dollars later - what a rip off

Honestly, I was nervous when I went out eating with my kids due to the pandemic, but the restaurant has a big patio seems very safe, the sashimi is very fresh, the beef short rib is tasty, my son loves it, and they are doing much to prevent the spread of any possible disease, very great service, the quality exceeds the price, we are very enjoyable.

My server was Maggie.she was very rude and unattentive I had to call other Waiters to get her to notice me. When I asked her for a takeout container she she basically dropped it on the table. The food was very mediocre the salmon had no flavour other than the sauce and my beef fried rice the beef didn't look cook it was grey in colour I actually didn't eat much I took it home so I can take pictures. I will never eat there again I'll just stick to my small sushi spots they've always done me Justice this one was the only one with the patio for me to celebrate my daughter's graduation. I work hard everyday I'm going here and made me feel like nobody on a day that was supposed to be memorable for my daughter.

We are regular happy customers but today not thrilled.beef sashimi was off, yam tempura was undercooked and the seaweed salad tasted like it was days old

I love this place? They have options for people who need to watch their dairy and gluten intake and honestly their eel pizza and crab rolls are genuinely great. We order from them often on DoorDash and I've never had a single issue. Love this place highly recommend.

Awful good. Instant tummy ache. They also charge you extra if you don't finish all their disgusting food. It is way too overpriced for food that isn't good at all. Save your money and dont go there.

I personally don't even want to give them any ratings because we had the worst service ever. Myself my husband and two kids went there two days ago for dinner and the softshell crab sushi tasted like it was ledt out for 2 days. We had to spit it out. The waitresses seem miserable and kept throwing the servings on the table. They didn't greet us and did not know any manners at this point. We asked for spicy mayo and it was like we asked her to scrub the floor, almost like we weren't allowed to ask for anything. On top of this they kept bringing the wrong orders which was ridiculous since the orders were being sent from the tablet. To top it all off i got food poisoining and was sick the next morning, throwing up and going to the washroom. It honestly was my worst experience ever. Please save yourself the headache and don't go there.

Terrible. Food was awful. Sushi was falling apart, yam tempura was undercooked, sent the same dish back TWICE, which has never happened in my life. I could go on. Waitress was rude. Had all you can eat lunch. Some food never came out at all. Felt they were moving slowly on purpose expecting we would say never mind and leave - which we did. We were there for over an hour. Even with thier weirdo price-o-metre that calculates what youve ordered and gives it a value, we still had less than the price of 2 all you can eat, and some of that food never made it to the table - "they forgot". I will never return.

Good eats, great place to go for all you can eat sushi, sashimi and small dishes of dim sum and other hot plates

Brought my son in place was not busy took forever to seat us asked for a high chair they didn't bring one this is the second time I felt weirdly discriminated against because I had my small child with me. The food is not that good definitely not for the price you pay.

Not the best Japanese I've had.almost all sushi's were drizzled with a slight sweet sauce.service from beginning to end was teribble.we were extremely rushed to order drinks and they were waiting to remove the drink menus before we even sat down.we could tell who the regulars were as they were treated different.most fried dishes were served Luke warm and rubbery to chew and the soups weren't even hot.

The atmosphere was nice, lots of seating- was clean. You get iPads to order your food on. Which I loved. Only thing I wasn't impressed with, was the taste of the sushi. It was very bland and boring. Everything tasted the same.the service was good though! Waitress checked up on you often. They were very nice. I just don't find this place to be worth a second try for. Personally.

A great place for some quality Japanese food. Although a bit on the steep side, you are guaranteed to get what you pay for. Their bento box’s are a tasty inexpensive option for lunch if you are craving Japanese food. Christmas day prices are 29.99 all day for all-you-can eat.
