Booked a reservation to celebrate a birthday and mentioned at the time of booking. Service was slow, our server Alice would angrily demand “give me the tablet” and wave her hands at us every time she came by the table to submit an order. We ordered drinks- a sangria and a sex on the beach, they were both the same drink. We ordered a second sangria to see if it was a mistake but no, they made all three drinks the same. $9 for a drink that wasn’t even the right one three times.

Service was slow, plates weren’t cleared often, server was aggressive and not polite.

No mention of a birthday song or anything. We had to ask for the bill 3 times as we had another activity afterwards we couldn’t be late to. A different server finally delivered the bills after asking Alice twice.

Overall- not a great visit. Disappointed nothing was done to celebrate a birthday, and despite asking for the bills for half hour, barely made it to our next activity on time. Was not worth $400.

Don’t sit by the windows- very cold to the point of uncomfortable. No heat in the washrooms and water all over the floor outside of the women’s washrooms.

Below average dinner selection for ACYE, unfortunately. Prepare to be disappointed when you try to find some of your favourites usually offered at other similar restaurants.

The food was amazing but the service was horrible. Asked my boyfriend not to tip but the gentleman who brought the bill was nice. (Go figure) the tablet given to us was at 10% which was completely dead 15 minutes after receiving our drinks. That was unable to be placed on the tablet which needed to be autherorized by our server who's name I won't mention. Reading the room and noticing special attention the the larger parties was quite clear. My bf needed frokes and had to go and find our server who was MIA. Paying for the bill was even more fun my bf had to go and find a server whom wasn't even our server to provide us with the bill. Theirs no diversity in the room and I see why. I hate to leave bad reviews but I think it's important to treat all customers with the same level of service no matter the situation

Had an incredible time with my sister and her partner. The food was great but the service was absolutely incredible. The food was prepared within 5 minutes of ordering and was exquisite. Alfred went out of his way to ensure we had a great experience. He was very quick at taking our dirty dishes off the table and to fill our drinks when they started to empty. He also introduced us to the robot that served the food, which had all of the other tables in the restaurant interested and engaged. Great experience for my family and I!

Salmon was frozen. Everything smelled and tasted off. No customer service. $85 for 2 people and got sick from it!

Haven't been here since before the pandemic and we liked it before. But I seen some bad reviews and my son wanted to go for his birthday and i wasn't sure I wanted to go. We went and I'm glad we did! Me and my family loved the food and the great service. Our server was amazing always filling or drinks and sending our order through quickly and it was busy there. Left there full and happy!

Hello,
My wife and I love Makimono in Oshawa, however, we were in Whitby to celebrate our wedding anniversary and decided on Makimono, Whitby.

1. There was wrong food coming to my table. Ordered Hot and Sour soup and got Miso Soup.
2. The soup when it arrived, was cold like water.
3. Coconut Shrimps were cold too.
4. Red Dragon Sushi was poor quality, with merely a barely there piece of salmon over the roll.
5. Sesame Chicken again was cold.
6. My wife ordered A La Carte Chicken Lo Mein Noodles and there was no seasoning at all and the noodles were overcooked.

It seemed like all the fried food was pre-cooked and left somewhere in the corner. It was a complete disappointment of an evening and our feedback was not taken seriously because they kept repeating their mistakes. We gave up mid meal. There were no concessions offered and I was asked to pay for the whole horrible food and experience that ruined our anniversary evening.

Bathrooms are very dirty and gross, service is not friendly and food was stale tasting, hard and lacking flavour.

I just tried to order food like I've done plenty times prior. After going through my order SEVERAL times and repeating my address like MULTIPLE times she then says we don't accept Debit only credit or cash.not only does your website offer it but I've done this before. She wasted my time and lied.no sense or customer service. LAME I'll take my business elsewhere

Absolutely the worst Makimono I have ever been to.
Half of our dishes were incorrectly prepared… the hot dishes were cold, not to mention the sashimi was completely frozen solid. The warmest thing in the table was the Diet Pepsi surprisingly enough.
I know it is fish, but no sushi should smell that fishy.
In the 30 minutes we were there we watched 3 separate tables complain to the staff while they did nothing to fix the issues.
Felt sick to my stomach and as soon as I walked out side I couldn’t help myself and the food came right back up.
Drive a few minutes into ajax or pickering if you want to try makimono, avoid this spot!

Turns out I actually got food poisoning.
Paid almost 100$ for food poisoning.

This is the most expensive all you can eat sushi place I have been to and it's the one I liked the least. The taste and freshness of the food was lacking. All you can eat dinner was $36.99 per adult and that includes soft drinks. This was on a Thursday evening and they are more expensive on Fridays and weekends.

Food was good, but do not go here if you have a big party. We had 2 tables with about 15 people each and they only gave 1 iPad per table, so as you could've guessed it took forever to actually send the order. They were giving the food to the wrong table and extremely unorganized. They were setting down plates on my cousins plate that she was eating from. Definitely not my first choice for sushi.

There food was good but unfortunately we did not receive a couple of our dishes and when they did come they took around 30 minutes to come and due to that I had to leave before any of the other dishes came not to mention as we ordered our drinks they walked past us as talking and did not stop walking and it wasn’t busy at all only about 5-8 tables filled there for I give makimono 1 star.

Have eaten here twice now and it may be the worse sushi I've ever had. Which is very surprising as their location on Liverpool Rd is really good. Just goes to prove that chefs make the restaurant not the name. The service was good but the food killed the experience. Price was high especially for such poor quality food.

If I could give negative stars I would it was absolutely disgusting I ordered take out for me and my boyfriend we got the teriyaki salmon which was watery and had no sauce almost seemed like they used a broth instead of sauce the spicy tuna tasted like cat food and the chicken and shrimp pad Thai had no shrimp the noodles were over cooked and mushy and the chicken seemed like they boiled it and mixed it in would not go back

The restaurant was dirty. Floors disgusting, booths with food on the seats. It all needed cleaning! Food was very bad. Anything fried was very oily and with so much batter that it was inedible! After eating some of it I felt bad and ordered a salad thinking that some fresh veggies would help, however it came drenched in dressing! (see photo). The dessert was brought without any cutlery so when I asked for it they brought a plastic spoon! The other dessert (for the other person with me) was brought earlier (!) with a metal spoon. I will not be back!

This restaurant was quite frankly … awful. The food was bad and service was slow. I come from Toronto and I’ve never had such bad sushi. I also saw management/owner (who is mandarin, not Japanese btw) yelling at one of the workers. Would not recommend.

This place has some serious potential. I had arrived during lunch time. Immediately upon arriving at this place I noticed it was kinda run down slightly (inside/out). Like it looks good but like they’re not taking care of it. The food wasn’t bad, the buffet is a good deal and service wasn’t horrible (friendly) Like I said it has potential but something about the ambience of this place is odd/ off, they need an upgrade. Overall, it’s an okay place to go for some sushi.

I took my friend for her birthday. We were happy they had an outdoor patio. We were very disappointed the sushi was low quality and would fall apart and did not taste good. The soy sauce had extra sodium or something so it was so salty that it ruined the sushi experience. I am not sure if the restaurant is trying to save money by offering high sodium soy sauce so clients consume more water and less food. I would not recommend this restaurant.

We went for all you can eat lunch. Food was good. Ambiance and decor was unimpressive. Service was extremely poor. There was only one girl who was working; other servers were just trying to look busy with with very customer at the time

I recently visited the Whitby location with a group of friends and was appalled and disappointed by the overall service, quality of the food, and the cleanliness of the restaurant. The all you can eat “deal” is $41.00 (PER PERSON) which was a complete waste of money considering the quality and quantity of the food that we were served. Immediately after eating the food we felt uneasy and the food tasted like it was sitting out all day. Not to mention the service was horrible and we had to keep reminding our waitress that we were waiting on our food as she forgot about our table, after about 45-50 minutes of waiting for just one of the 4 plates of food we ordered to arrive, by the time the waitress brought us our food we had already been there for an hour and a half and it was almost closing time which barely gave us enough time to eat (whatever you don’t finish you get charged for) and we didn’t get all of our money’s worth paying $41.00 all you can eat for 5 people to only order 3 plates of cold undercooked food. We didn’t feel like waiting anymore and went to find the waitress to bring the bill, this experience kept us waiting for 95% of the time we spent and did not get our full money’s worth in conclusion we will not be returning.

Terrible service, the waitress was very friendly and attentive but half of our order took more than 1 hour to arrive, since the restaurant did not have many diners, and the last dishes never arrived after 1 hour and 40 minutes, the taste was not like the Last time it was a year ago, they left a lot to be desired. I'm sorry but I'm not going back

I really used to love this place, but me and my partner tried to go recently, it was not busy, there was about 4 tables, and more servers then tables, even on. There was also no line up. As we got there we waited for 10 minutes at the front waiting to be sat as the servers just stood there and stared at us, I literally made direct eye contact with them and no one came to even just say hi, we will be right with you or hey we have a wait right now. We decided to go elsewhere. Would not recommend.
