Making Waves Swim School

This place will NOT be for you if you are looking for your child to be challenged and want a well organized place from season to season with good communication. I DO NOT recommend due to poor Supervisor / Management and Organization skills

We completed our first season with Making Waves and really enjoyed the coaches, however, we enrolled our kids in advance for a second season based on the coaches feedback and our observations every week.

We came to Making Waves from the Community Center and it was difficult to translate the levels. We signed our son up for Big Wave 1/2 and he was promoted from 1 to 2 on the 2nd class. He continued to perform all exercises at level 2; coaches suggesting he’s doing amazing each class, so we enrolled him for Big Wave 3/4 right away to ensure our spot with no friction.

Making Waves cancelled our child’s enrolment for 3/4 last minute with an option to repeat a level at which my child is excelling (1/2). Conveniently the space disappeared online so it feels they needed to make room for another child. Making Waves wants him to repeat level 2. This will not challenge my child to progress, is unfortunate and disappointing. Especially given my child is also asking for harder classes.

We won’t be going back and recommend parents looking for good management and continued learning growth for their child to seek an alternative school.

My family and I have been going to Making Waves for at least 4 years. All instructors and supervisors are professional and kind. I've never had any problems that could not be solved. My kids are more than half way through and we plan to continue their swimming lessons here.

This place offers swim classes in small groups. Instructors are good and friendly. I gave it 1 star less as the pool size is small.

Not really impressed as I just purchased a swim cap which doesn’t even fit my child’s head. Told them immediately after it came off during her lesson. They told me there’s no refunds. $18 for a swim cap is already ridiculous but to have to pay for something that won’t be of any use is beyond annoying. They already over charge more than most swimming places and don’t even offer make up lessons. Treat your customers better if you can’t do refunds then maybe start implementing make up lessons so that way us parents can at least get our moneys worth. Kids become sick very often.

We started attending this school in January, my daughter was not a confident person in the water at all, we are now entering May and my daughter is so confident jumping in and swimming she is swimming on her back, on her front, even perfecting her front and back crawls, I am amazed at how quickly she picked it up. The instructors are absolutely amazing, so patient and encouraging without pushing the child, my daughter looks forward to class every Monday, and she has been lucky to have the same instructor for both winter and spring session, we love it here and will keep coming:) thank you for teaching my daughter such an important life skill.

My kids are progressing very well at making waves. The staff is great and responsive. The ratio is 1: 3 but they manage to work with each child to advance their individual skills. The facility is clean and spacious. It’s more pricey than the community center swimming but we find it worth it.

Not bad but I'm not really happy as my child still in the same level over and over. Should put more effort to teach them as I can see the same lesson every time and I did not see much progress in my child. Maybe depend on the trainer I can see other trainer it's really good but some is not.

Wonderful fun place for kids to learn to swim. My daughter has been going since 2019 and has had really good coaches along the was such as Navin, Ambar and Jess who are caring and patient! It’s clean and they’re systematic in their approach.

Excellent service. You will pay a higher price but the results are there. The kids progress quickly in their abilities with the semi private model they have in place.

This particular MW facility is amazing. Nice instructors/staff, amenities such as hair dryers, swimsuit dryers and large change rooms, and great cleanliness throughout. Would def recommend!

Parents can sit poolside or outside the glass wall in the viewing area.

I think it was strange that they did not have any backup days for kids missed out on sick days.

My 5 year old daughter has learned greatly from her instructor. Ratio is 3 to 1 but what I can really appreciate is that the staff is very hyper aware of the dynamic between the 3 kids. This is especially important as with a 30 min you want to ensure your child is getting the most out of the class. My older daughter has learned and done more in 4 classes then she in the 5 Swim for life 1 classes with the city. Worth the money.

Wow! This place is great! Everyone is so friendly and helpful from the second you walk through the door (and that's both the full sized door or kid sized door!). The school is very clean and fun for kids!

This place is amazing! When we first registered our Son, he was very timid of the water, did not want to have his face get wet due to a not so great experience at the local community center. Well, to see my Son now, is like looking at a different kid. His confidence is up, he loves attending every week. He dives under to grab rings now. Instructors are amazing, and the facility is clean. I have recommended this place to friends already. We will be continuing his lessons here. We absolutely love it!

Took my nephew for his swimming lesson and was really impressed with this facility. Very kid friendly and very well maintained. The space is clean and temperature of the pool was perfect. Shower and change rooms were very clean and they also have a nice viewing area for the parents.
Instructors were really nice and friendly. They were very young but they knew what they were doing. The classes are separated by sections and class sizes are small. Highly recommend!

Great place! My kid is excelling! Very clean. Well run. Comfortable for parents to watch their kids progress. I really like the washrooms and their layout. I wish I had a facility like this when I did my swimming lessons many years ago.

Staff is not on the same accord when it comes to delivering CORRECT info. I've registered my 3 children for lessons and the front desk is all over the place. If you have one child, great.you probably won't have an issue. Started lessons and they had payment schedules to pay down the total since 3 kids registered were $1000+. Did that with both winter and spring classes and during that entire time, my experience with the front desk gave different information all the time. Each person I spoke with had a different explanation of policies and payment procedures. Registration for Fall had opened and I was told on more than one occasion that the deposit can be paid to secure spots and that payments can be made until August before Fall classes started in I believe September. On the contrary, I received a call from front desk recently, demanding the full payment be made immediately. Apparently, they now require everything to be paid in full at time of registration. This place is absolutely ridiculous with the lack of correct information given from the front staff and they don't seem to acknowledge their issues for their miscommunications. Good luck to those who register more than one child and need to interact with the front desk. It's extremely frustrating to deal with them and wouldn't recommend this school to anyone on account of my experience with the front desk. They don't seem to understand the concept of active listening and don't leave notes or leave notes that too vague on customer files for the next representative to understand.so definitely be prepared to constantly repeat yourself.

We've been with Making Waves for 6 years, first at the Brampton location and now at Mississauga They give you the absolute best customer service I have ever experienced. Always putting your child first and their program works! Our kids love the water because of their lessons here, and they have become confident, capable swimmers. This facility is beautiful. Clean, great water temperature and the parent viewing area is nice too.
