Food was very good both times I ate there, reasonably priced, staff are respectful and very helpful.

How come this restaurant still exists?

I am not happy with the lack of portion size knowledge of the person who takes order when I asked them about the fish fry weight from their menu for which they are charging $18.99. The answer this man gave me was palm size fish size of King Fish category which does not give anyone idea of quantity of the fish. I understand that palm size is different from person to person and I am appalled by this lack of knowledge and ignorance about the weight of the fish size that was not delivered by the Malabar Food representative. Please ask them to add in the weight in lbs or grams of each food. I am a regular customer and I didn’t get a response that I should be getting from a restaurant. If there are alternatives I can recommend to try other restaurants because Malabar Restaurants does not care. Even the owner is motivated by making money not delivering quality food based on portion size. Highly unsatisfying experience.

I did not expect the flavors, quality, and spices used to be this amazing. Super Impressed with what they have made. Best butter chicken I've ever had.

Huge downside, the portions sizes were very disappointing. I expected the mutton vindaloo to be enough for Atleast 2 people at 20$ just for the vindaloo without the naan.but it was really small.

So when the food qty is not enough, it kinda ruins the experience.

Food is not at all tasty. I have tried pothochoru (not heated, quantity less and choice of curry is less), appam & mutton koruma combo (not at all good taste). Should improve in taste. My 40$ just vanished away!

Ordered Masala dosa via DoorDash, a person who makes masala dosa for the first time prepares better masala dosa than this. It was dry, has a sour taste (May be they used old batter). The sambar and coconut chutney was very watery. Never gonna order from here again.

Ordered payasam and it was delicious. Everyone liked it, so the first experience is good. Looking forward for more take outs.

Worst masala dosa I ever had…. Seriously.the manager is not know how to talk with customers. So so stupid

I tried the kothu porotta at this place. The experience was mediocre, with the spices overshadowing the overall dish.

If that’s your perfection you should close the store

Pothichoru was very nice, especially the fish curry and the fish fry. Rice was perfectly cooked. Quantity could be better. I am not from Ottawa and has no idea about what the other restaurant quantities are in this region.

Last week, we had a College function "Aaravam 2.0" and had Chicken Dum biriyani as dinner. Chicken Dum biryani, a divine fusion of flavors that left us craving for more. The attention to flavor combinations and the careful execution of each dish was truly commendable. The ingredients used were of the highest quality, resulting in dishes that delighted both the palate and the eye. It truly felt like every dollar spent was well worth it.

Have been eating here for 10 months but the taste is going down after everyone.
Today I ordered pothichoru the worst taste no salt no spice and quanity is not enough for 1 person first when I started to buy the quantity was more than enoughfor 2 people and curries where very tasty with correctly cooked rice today the rice was overly cooked also about kappa biriyani they reduced the quality and quantity. Most of the time the kappa will be slightly burnt these days.hope they ll make it better like how it used to be

We love the Pothichoru served on a banana leaf. Reminds us of a home cooked meal. Also the kerala fish curry is very tasty. If you are looking for a taste of home visit this place.

When you are away from home and crave for Kerala meals, this is your go to place! Thank you Malabar for giving Ottawa a taste of Kerala cuisine miles away from home.

My husband and I have been there many times and we sticked to the South Indian specialty food. We were never disappointed. The food was delicious, can't wait to go back!

I ordered Mutton Biriyani through UberEats. They gave me Lamb Biriyani instead of mutton which was so disgusting. Biriyani was dry AF and they gave me maximum 6 tiny pieces of meat and included a boiled egg (may be to compensate for giving so less meat). I asked for spoon, fork and napkin which they didn't provide. They give so less meat that you will barely be able to finish the rice with the meat. Such poor portion of food for $20.00 is a Rip Off. STAY AWAY! From this restaurant and save your money.

Very bad service and food was not good also. We were dining in, but we were asked to come to the counter to take the the food by ourselves and it was not professional. Also food was not hot and was not tasty.

Amazing taste. People who miss authentic fish curry please do visit this place. It just reminded me of home. 10/10. No words.

Overall, I had an amazing experience at Malabar House. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic South Indian food.

The food was disgusting. The butter chicken sauce was lumpy and the dosa bread had a grainy, horrible texture and the filling was old. I felt sick all night long after eating this food. Spent over $50 and have to through it out. Serious risk of food poisoning!

People who loves biryani shouldn’t eat it from this restaurant. If you are a hyderbadi you will not even feel like this as a biryani.

I used to like this place. But not very impressed with the new management and the food. The food quantity of meat is extremely meagre. The freshness of the food wasn't the best either. I hope they improve. I know the inflation is crunching everyone, but quality shouldn't be compromised.
