Every dish was delicious, flavourful, service was great, timing of each course was perfect. Lamb chops 10/10. Overall excellent dining experience.

After a bad dinner at another restaurant, my friend and I went to Mamakas to redeem ourselves and eat actual food. The server (I forget his name) was so entertaining and fun. We sat at the bar and he explained what apps would be good to share. He recommended us the other drinks available for the night and it was great. Ordered apps and had a great night! Will definitely be back!

When you spend over $200 per person at any restaurant, you begin to be sensitive to what you are getting in terms of quality, service, and atmosphere. This restaurant did not disappoint! From the moment I walked in with the kind of warm welcome while I waited for my guests to join to the last bite of their fabulous dessert and everything in between was AN EPIC Experience. You can read all the other comments on how great their food are from these reviews, all respecting the intelligence of the Kitchen staff. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food, the ingredients and the wine - THAT is an investment of the owner to taste, educate, and train these staff. This is the same caring and attention to detail that I saw and experienced last night! The only rating I gave a 4 star was the atmosphere in terms of noise level. Otherwise, a memorable experience indeed!

Had an amazing experience at Mamakas celebrating our anniversary. Besides the food being amazing, the staff were incredible. We had wanted to sit on the patio and they ensured we had a table outside. However it was a rainy evening and they were one step ahead of the game ensuring we never got wet and had a new table waiting for us when it did start to rain. Definitely one of my new fav spots in the city!

Decided to walk into this restaurant recently & had a great experience.
The server was very knowledgeable regarding allergies. I mentioned my gluten & dairy one and he didn’t hesitate to go through the whole menu with me to show me which items they could accommodate.
We ordered the potatoes, octopus & Eggplant dip. The dip was sweeter than what I was expecting. The octopus was delicious, I wish the portion was a touch bigger, & the potatoes were very crispy & well seasoned.

The swirly thing and the salad were the best. Amazing flavour from those two small dishes. However the shakshuka and eggplant dishes were a bit of a disappointment in comparison.

Love how our server recommended us the lamb neck. It was extremely satisfying and will definitely need to come back for it again. Loved sitting at the bar to watch everyone prepare the beautiful dishes.

The food and everything were good but a bit pricey compared to what you really get! I expect when I pay >$40 for a plate at least a side comes with it but here they don’t provide anything other than a loaf of bread! So the quality of the food was great but either they should adjust their prices or expand their meals portions!

I've had many friends recommend this place and finally got to try it! I went on a weekday after work. The decor was nice and the food was even better!

I had the spankopita, a citrus salad that i have forgotten the name of, a fish steak, baklava cheese cake and Greek tea.

Everything was delicious and the salad is one of my favourite salads now! I definitely will come back!

Please note: the place is busy so they do enforce their seating time limit however, we felt we had plenty of time to eat our food and chat.

Very dissatisfied with the service and food portion. Server said it was shareable and recommended 3 items to get. So we did. We also ordered the 68 dollar fish that my friend couldn’t eat because it lacked flavour. That green dish tasted spoiled. The octopus was so small but tasted fine. The waitress was quiet and unapologetic when asked how we were liking the food. Her face said it all.

Ridiculously tasty food. I didn’t know I Greek food could taste like this. Fun and cheerful atmosphere. Attentive but casual service. Reasonably priced for the quality/experience. I didn’t give 5 stars on atmosphere only because the seat I had was right next to their grill and it was very hot. But everyone else looked comfortable. I would absolutely repeat many times here.

Overall it was great minus one tiny tiny thing we did not order, getting gaslit by the manager. Let me explain.

We thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the bar, chatting with staff who were very attentive and churning out awesome drinks the whole time. We started off with the house dips, you cannot go wrong with any but we always get taramosalata - this alone makes it worth checking out. The pita is pillowy soft and the perfect vessel for these dips. You will crave it every second of every subsequent day I guarantee you.

We then enjoyed the Froutosalata (strawberry and peach salad) and octopus before we got the lamb neck and mussels pasta. Mussels in pasta isn’t anything special and not unique as an offering to a restaurant but at the care they put in their other dishes we wanted to try it. Famous last words.

The mussels were very very VERY fishy. Maybe the first bites were off? But then we tried 2-3 more and it was not consumable. There was a gut feeling that something was wrong if you catch my drift. All good, the restaurant was super busy and sometimes these things happen and everything else was great so no harm, no foul. We just didn’t eat it and enjoyed the lamb neck. Our server asked if we wanted to pack the pasta which we politely declined and I mentioned it was quite fishy but that it was fine we loved everything else. She kindly and apologetically said since we didn’t like it that they would take it off our bill. I thought that was such a kind and honestly unnecessary gesture we were fine just not eating it and paying for it. But THIS is where it goes south. The manager comes by to “check in” on us and mentions in a demeaning way she heard about the pasta and that the chef said it’s a seafood-forward pasta and sometimes that’s not for anyone. Then walks away. Ok…?

Ma’am, more than half my diet is seafood. Seafood is the food of my people. This tasted absolutely foul. FOUL. Seafood-forward? As in projectile vomit it forward? I would pay her to eat that entire dish in front of me and not break eye contact and tell me that’s what she takes pride in serving to patrons. It’s just bizarre because the situation was already handled gracefully by our server.

In any case, we still had dessert, the baklava cheesecake. Incredible. It almost made us forget how condescending that manager was. *Almost*.

We’ll return to mamakas but maybe just do takeout for the dips and dessert.

Olive for restaurants like this! Our mains were DELISH but the dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) were cold and super tiny for $22 …

Adore the ambiance and decor! It’s a very intimate restaurant!

I gave it a 4/5 cause the food was pretty slow to come out.

But food was FIRE! Order the lamb neck and grilled octopus if you go!

NOTE: 3-4 dishes is good for 2 people!

The sea bream crudo (tsipoura crudo) was silky smooth. The lamb neck (laimos arniou) was a hefty piece of fall-off-the-bone meat and was best enjoyed once removed from the bone entirely and mixed in with the sauce. It paired really nicely with the broccolini. The sea bass (lavraki) is great for sharing, as it is an entire fish, but I would likely try a different seafood dish next time.

And the cheesecake? It is a combination of flaky baklava pastry, crunchy pistachio bits, smooth and tart yogurt, and creamy decadent cheese. It’s wonderful and can easily be shared among multiple people because it is a brick-sized serving.

Phenomenal food, better than we ate during a week-long trip to Greece. Every single item was delicious, will definitely be returning.

Really nice atmosphere. But the food was overpriced. The lamb neck hardly had any meat, and was mostly fat. My mom got sick afterwards. My friend ordered pasta with mussles she said the mussles where good but the pasta had no taste.

Food was good but definitely on the pricier side. We had the lamb, dips, citrus salad, spanakopita, and a bottle of wine and it was all very delicious.
We were reminded 3 times that we had 2 hour seating time. Like really? I’m a frequent global traveller and big foodie and have never been reminded or even told dining time is limited; not even in NYC where real estate is prime with high volume of tourists.
Would try other restaurants before coming back to Mamakas.

Had lunch with friends here. Two of us got food poisoned. Have been throwing up and feeling nauseous for two days. This is a horrible experience. I’ll never come to this place ever again for my physical well being.

We went here for a date Sunday evening on the patio.
Good was very delicious.
We got a cheese deep, chicken and eggplant.

The food is to die for—highly recommend the Tzatziki dip! It was so creamy, thick and fluffy and served with the freshest bread to dip. I really enjoyed the mussel pasta as well and it was a giant portion size.

I ordered the special! Ribeye. Server came 10 m latter saying that there is no more ribeye. She recommended the lamb so I said ok. Ribeye was under $40 but when the bill came the lamb was almost $70 for 4 pieces. No veggies, nothing. There is 4 cocktails on the menu. Each $18. Wine bottles are over $70. As soon as we walked in I knew it was one of this places. The host told us that there is no tables available and that she could only offer the high top table for 1h30. I was fine with this but how can you be that unprofessional? Restaurant close at 10 pm and we arrive at 8pm so it doesn’t make sense.
No attention to details, food is ok nothing outstanding for the price they are charging. It is an average “Greek” restaurant. Nothing authentic or real, just marketing and $$$$.
One more thing. Kitchen! When we leave and pass in front of you maybe you could say “ thank you or even goodbye?
Absolutely ridiculous.

Best food, service and ambiance. I always have a wonderful experience here. One of my favourite restaurants in the city!

The service and atmosphere at Mamakas was excellent! Two girlfriends and I shared a few dishes for dinner. Perhaps it was what we ordered, but the food was just ok. It felt over priced and underwhelming. Not sure if I’d go back.

Went to Mamakas on a Friday evening with a friend and we were seated right away. The food and cocktails were delicious: I had the Octopus, Potato Wedges and a Moscow Mule. My friend has the Mussel Pasta served with Garlic Toast.

We were served by John, who was quick and attentive. I would recommend this restaurant!
