Had a wonderful evening at Mamma’s with colleagues for an end of year gathering… the space was perfect tor our group and beautifully decorated for the season (Xmas).

Service was warm and super professional while also making us feel like part of the family. Food was excellent and there was something for everyone.

Vous payez juste le fait que c'est fréquenté pas des politiciens. C'est tout.

Si vous voulez manger dans une vraie ambiance italienne, cherchez ailleurs. Il y en a de très bons, pour bien moins cher à Ottawa.

Great food, the calamari was amazing and the veal parmigiana was very delicious.
The staff are extremely hospitable and the owner checked to see how we were doing multiple times. 10/10 food and service

Food was delicious. My husband had the vegetable lasagne and I had fillet of sole. Lovely desserts and delicious coffee.

Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Ottawa. Can never go wrong with the Lobster Ravioli.

An experience worth every dollar!

I love taking my out of town guests to Mamma’s. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is comfortable and the service is excellent (you can tell they really care about their clientele). Will always recommend the gnocchi and chef’s special seafood pasta! There is also something special about a restaurant that uses white tablecloths - every meal here just feels so special.

First timer at this restaurant to celebate family birthday. It would have been better to eat at the patio as inside of the restaurant was kinda dark with minimal lighting. Service was great and food was decent. Kinda pricey though.

I wish I could give it 5 stars for food but I can't. The bruschetta was disappointing, the breaded veal cutlet was undercooked and there was a hair in my son's ravioli dish. The service was really good though and the angel hair pomodoro was amazing.

I went there last night with my daughter. They made us feel like V. I. P. ’s (the same was provided to all the other guests). The attention to detail but more specifically the attention to SERVICE is incomparable to any I’ve received.

Food is.good. Not amazing, but good. Caesar salad and bruschetta were fresh but average. You can really get it as good anywhere else.for almost half the price. Bread is store bought, not freshly baked in house. Linguine pasta noodles did not taste handmade or fresh at all. Seafood was adequate. Lobster ravioli had more cheese than lobster. Rosé sauce was plentiful and flavourful. Great presentation. Service from servers was absolutely perfect. Very attentive, kind and welcoming. They really made it a great night and added to the ambiance. Patio seating had the hustle and bustle of street traffic and noise but that comes with being located downtown. Nice wine/alcohol cocktail selection, but very little non-alcoholic selection other than sparkling water. Pricey; you pay really for the experience. Great for celebrations and good company, but probably wouldn't go back again. Quality is there, but nothing particularly unique. Had a great time. Recommend going once to support local.

The most incredible Italian experience short of literally going to Italy.
I swear, this place is unlike any other Italian restaurant I’ve ever experienced.
It’s a high class, old school, luxurious place that brings be back to my childhood.

Delicious food! I had Mamma Teresa a while back before COVID and recently again for delivery. Had minestrone, lobster ravioli and lasagna. The minestrone and lobster ravioli were perfection. Very delicious. I’m not sure what happened with the lasagna though, it smelled and looked delicious but unfortunately it tasted extremely salty. Had to take a few extra bites to make sure I wasn’t imagining it. I’m guessing this is a mistake because the food is otherwise usually delicious.

Every single aspect of this restaurant was top tiet. From the ambiance to the service to the lovely delicious food. A cozy restaurant in the middle of downtown Ottawa is what I need after a long week, highly recommend!

TMI: I will be 56 years old this year and visited many fancy and less fancy places, eat in different countries and zillions of restaurants but this place is unique… the atmosphere is excellent, the music is (obviously) Italian, the food is non olus ultra. We had prosciutto, chicken liver and calamari for appetizer and halibut steak, grilled salmon and filet mignon as main course. Everything was perfectly cooked and served but the best is yet to come! Our waiter was John and he really is the crown jewel of the place, happy, chatty and knowledgeable. Giovanni, sei il migliore. Grazie per il tuo lavoro. Noi torneremo.

Quality of the food is good, but a bit pricey. Also, what is strange that they give you the bill in handwriting, which is almost impossible to read. Would recommend them to move to printed bills so that nobody gets confused.

Amazing food service and layout.
Can't go wrong had so many different dishes everyone loves everything.

Only thing dont go late because all the dessert are made in house and might sell out.

Gotta come back to try the tiramisu next time

Classic Old World service, recipes and dining experience. Been eating here since the 80's and a recent visit did not disappoint. Thank you for the warm welcome and impeccable meal. Do not miss the chocolate mousse.

Best traditionnal Italian in Ottawa! Great service, amazing food and wine! The Chef Special Seafood Pasta is the best seafood pasta ever! I defenetely highly recommend this restaurant for family or romantic dinner!

Our first visit to the Chelsea location. The waitress was great, loved the service. Was a little cold and uncomfortable sitting in what seem to be a little room that would be used during the summer. My main complaint is that the menu in Chelsea is more expensive than the location in center town. I wish I would have known. I don't mind paying for a good meal but you assume that you will be paying the same price at the same restaurant. I NOTICED SOME ITEMS WERE $6.00 TO $7.00 HIGHER THAN DOWNTOWN. SO DISAPPOINTING WILL NOT RETURN. I HATE BEING RIPPED OFF.

Four meals purchased and all were at least $29. Only meal included and two pieces of bread.no salad or other side. I had the spaghetti bolognaise. Had a weird taste and the noodles tasted hard and store bought. The rest of my family seemed to enjoy their food. I would not go back.too expensive and food was just okay.

Worst experience I have ever had. The environment was nice enough with good ambiance. However, the food was just ok and way too overpriced. We ordered Fried Zucchini for appetizer, Chicken Parmesan and Breaded Chicken Cutlet for our main. The fried zucchini was done with old oil and even a little burned. The pasta was too al-dente to enjoy and the chicken were a little dry/overcooked.

Another thing that made me super frustrated was the ridiculous cake serving fee. It was my cousin's birthday, and we brought the cake in. When I gave the cake to the waiter, he told me there would be $3 serving fee; but turned out it was $3/person serving fee. We were a group of 10 people and I had to pay $30 for them to cut the cake that I brought in myself, plus the slices were terribly cut that mushed all the fruits with cream filling. I could never justify the amount of money I was charge for a terrible service!

Pretty good overall, food is a bit on the pricey side, but I have liked everything I've had there. Very good atmosphere, warm and comfortable, staff is amazing.

One of the best Chicken Parms I've ever had. The bruschetta was also literally one of the best. Could not have been happier.

Delicious and classic Italian food, with generous portions. Staff are attentive and hard-working. Very classy atmosphere.
However, we got sat at a table in a corner that felt improvised likely because the restaurant was quite busy, even though we had reservations. I felt uncomfortable with all the foot traffic behind me, waiters rushing back and forth, and afraid that someone would spill something on me.
Other than that, not too bad.

Had a good evening at Mamma Teresa. Had a reservation and were promptly seated when we arrived. We were quickly and nicely greeted by our server. Our appetizer and drinks were soon dropped off at our table. Our drinks were good. We ordered bruschetta parmigiano which was served slightly different than what most buschetta. Bread was soft and there seemed to be a little too much cheese than what I'm used too. Other than that, our mains were great. The italian coffee after our mains was delicious. Other than the appetizer (which could be just a different style of buschetta that I am not used too) our first visit was great and I hope to be back soon.

Stay away from that place

Ordered lasagna with and caesar salad two evenings ago as takeouts
Lasagna consisted of one inch of pasta with little cheese and no sauce! For 24$!
Caesar salad was pitiful with a few burned croutons and rare bits of bacon. Dressing was poor
Despite being a chain restaurant, Eastside Mario offers much better quality, quantity and tasty food

The food is inferior at best. Didn't provide Parmesan or salt and pepper. In hindsight it wouldn't have improved it. Unfortunately, took the recommendation from a ditzy millenial. Check your bill carefully. Mysteriously it was 40$ more on my credit card! Who did this? The credit company changed it after I called their fraud dept. The restaurant claims they entered the lower amount. Yeah right. Searching for a different Italian restaurant to visit when I'm in Ottawa again.

A complete joy to go back to this wonderful restaurant while visiting Ottawa. Walter and his amazing team (thanks Gary!) made us feel so welcome. The food was absolutely delicious.service impeccable. We highly recommend!

Food was great and service was fantastic. We each had the snails for starters and it was very tasty. Save some bread for dipping it in the garlic sauce. The fresh bread is served right away and it was nice and warm. I had the combination plate that had veal parmigiana, tortellini and cannelloni that was stuffed with veal. My partner had the Penne with Italian sausage. Everything was very tasty.

Very attentive service, they were on top of all the orders! This place is great for large reservations and also intimate dining. The appetizers were very quick, but there was a small wait for the main course. Everyone was very happy with their meals. As mentioned in other reviews, the main courses could be plated nicer, but that's something that doesn't bother me personally.

Exceptional food and service! A geniune Italian menu. We travelled across the country to discover this place and will be back for more. Vegans, please stop coming here and spoil the ratings with your complaints. It is not a place for you.

Generous portions but way too much salt and acid, becoming too intense and unbalanced to the point that no wine can rescue. Gulps of water doesn’t help creat harmony. We had two pasta dishes (eggplant and sundried tomatoes) and a salad, dressing was too acidic. Outdoor patio has nice atmosphere.

Entrée prosciutto et cantaloup excellente, prosciutto qui fond dans la bouche.

Spaghetti Bolognese
Ça se gâte. Des pâte cuisson « colla al dente », c’est à dire des pâtes pas assez cuites, mises dans l’eau puis refroidies et réchauffées avant de servir. C’est dégoûtant. Ma fille de 6 ans sait mieux cuire des pâtes, au moins quelqu’un lui a montré.

La sauce, trop, vraiment trop en quantité. Rien d’italien, c’est une bête assiette pour nourrir un porc. Le goût de la sauce encore là rien d’italien. Mieux vaut faire 170 kms et aller manger à Montréal.

Plus jamais. On s’est sauvés avant le dessert

This is my personal favorite for Italian cuisine in Ottawa. Great atmosphere, delicious food, and very welcoming staff. Nice little patio for those summer nights as well. Great spot for a date night.

We had such an amazing and unforgettable experience. Despite they were crazy busy and fully booked for reservation, Walter in particular was very accommodating and very nice enough to give us a table for six. We were very pleased and touched by his kind gesture that he even allowed us to park our vehicle beside the table we were eating. If it happens you go visit this town, please make sure to try this out and experience the amazing service that we have experienced. Highly recommend this restaurant!

It's over priced the fish is cheap farmerd had a very strong unpleasant fishy smell couldn't even eat it due to the strong fishy taste. Need more options for vegetarians and individuals that are vegan also need child size portion meals and drinks

Nothing less than the finest Italian food in Ottawa. Every time I visit this place my memory flies back to imagine Giuliano Boselli at the main stairs. Since they opened in 1970 they created a legend in the city and after Frank and Walter decided to take the steering wheel of the business in 2008 they have done a great job to continue the magic tradition of Mamma Teresa. The are so good that they opened a new restaurant in Chelsea, QC. The food continues with its delicious flavor and once the chefs do their magic, the dishes work by themselves to fall in love with them. If you check the menu, Giuliano continues present in some special dishes as well as the image of Mamma Teresa by the main entrance. This place is magic and they even continue with their white tableclothes. They have now outdoor tables and the dressing code has been adapted through the new customers. But believe me, the former clients, continue loving the place with the Boselli family in every single space of the place creating a pre-known cozy environment. They have found the key to continue giving the best service to different generations considering a variety of taste prefernces and food intolerances from new and former customers. All the options will provide a pleasant flavor to your mouth an you will find it hard to find your favorite dishes among a wide number of options. My favorite will continue being the Caesar's Salad and Lobster Ravioli. It was glad for me to see the tradition continues with more than excellent service, outstanding food and immesurable memories. Thank you.

I love this place. Generous servings, top-notch service, delicious food and wine. I have too many favorites here but the gnocchi in blue cheese sauce and the lobster ravioli are standbys for me. Had the fresh lobster with linguini and clams for dinner for Father's Day. Worth every penny. My son loves the smelts from here as well:)

I am by no stretch of the imagination a foodie, but this was insultingly overpriced for the frozen food they’re serving. Chicken parmesan was clearly a frozen chicken cutlet from the grocery store. It was over cooked and the olive oil used in the dish was rancid. The “bruschetta” was bread covered in oil and cheap mozzarella with maybe 2-3 tiny pieces of tomato. I made better bruschetta in my dorm room in university, where I wasn’t allowed to have a heating element.

Obsessed with the Veal Combination plate. I haven't tried anything else off the menu because it's just too good

It was my first time being here and I had the most pleasant restaurant experience I've had in a long time. The food and drinks are to die for! We were waited on by a very kind, funny and knowledgable man by the name of Gary who made it his mission to guide us through a wonderful dining experience by recommending us dishes that cater to me and my friend's taste, along with drinks that go well with the meals we had. Although the prices are a little on the high end, i fully believe you get the most out of your money here. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Italian experience along with a beautiful ambiance. Grazie per il cibo delizioso, noi torneremo!

The interior dine-in experience is a bit stuffy but this is old-school, authentic Italian food done right.

A wonderful dining experience. The Fettuccine Alfredo and Gnocchi Gorgonzola were delicious. The desserts, all three of them - were decadent. Try their tartufo - surreal. Service was prompt and friendly. Will definitely return and recommend.

Excellent food, great atmosphere and the staff were wonderful. I had the real with portabella mushrooms and cream sauce and the chocolate moose which were both delicious. Large plates with lots of food.

Excellent authentic Italian. One of the very few fine dining restaurants that are open later (not sure why restaurants close so early in Ottawa). I have gone 3 times and each time I had great service and great food. No music was playing though, which made it too quiet at times.

Overpriced, average food. I paid 24 dollars for a dish of penne pasta in a mediocre tomato sauce and perhaps 1 Italian sausage.

Had the chicken in lemon sauce as my main course and the chicken tortellini soup as my soup. Both extremely tasty but my favorite was limone sorbet for desert. Beautiful decor, romantic atmosphere, loved it.

We have come here a few times for the best italian food in Ottawa/Gatineau, and very romantic ambiance. Service is superior, friendly, and very professional. Portions are generous, and the complimentary olives and pepperoncinis are a very classy touch.

I can't say enough about the staff here, they are fantastic. Food was very good. It is a bit of a time warp going here as the food is a bit old school but I would definitely recommend trying it.

I took my wife on her birthday yesterday to this Ristorante.
I am giving 3 start for service and interior not for food.
We ordered EGGPLANT PARMIGIANA and that was good, but after that we ordered LASAGNA VEGETARIAN and that was the worst one I have in my life.
Overall service and interior was good but food was not that for at least vegetarian people.

Service was great! However I ordered the veal Boconniccini which came without any Boconniccini. It was explained to me, they make it to LOOK like a typical veal Boconniccini. It was tough and had a taste similair to turkey.
Kind of felt I had the wool pulled over my eyes with the explanation.
Just call it what it is.whatever it was.

One of the best Italian restaurants that I know of! Still in its original retro-fitted house which is quaint and cosy, and *oh* the food. I used to go there as a kid, and it's still as good as I remembered. It's worth every cent you pay.

The food was great I find we have to talk over each other because there's lots of people there so it's very noisy it's not a very quiet atmosphere for a nice dinner but the rest was great my friends that I went with were wonderful and I would love to go again that was for my birthday

Lost Leftovers Made Good - Out last Saturday evening (03-30) with our three teenage sons (03-30) for a 16th birthday celly. Dinner was great.the boys loved large portions at Mama Theresa's.and they each had leftovers to take-home. Unfortunately next day we discovered we had some else's chicken parm and our son's bacon carbonara must have gone home with someone else. Couldn't really trust we had our own leftovers so it all went out in the garbage. I called the restaurant to advise of the mix-up (i get it.mistakes happen). Mama Theresa very politely apologized and graciously offered to replace the lost leftovers. They boys are very happy with that, and we will definitely be back soon.and will check our leftovers before we leave next time.

Great food, totally professional service. One of the few restaurants that is quiet enough to carry on a conversation.
