We celebrated our fathers 80 th birthday the experience was great. Our waiter Bishal was very friendly and personal.
Food was delicious!

Ordering online was a headache. I placed a large order for pickup at 11: 30am. Called at 11: 20am to confirm and they couldn’t find my order, even though it was withdrawn from my bank account. Was on hold for 10 mins, then receptionist tells me they don’t get online orders until 11: 30am when they open so it’s not possible to pickup at this time? Okay, I proceed to tell her that 11: 30am shouldn’t be an option for pickup then because that just adds confusion. She argues and tells me that I should’ve called at 11: 00am to order instead. I try to tell her ordering online is useless if the times aren’t possible, that I know it’s not her fault and that she should let her bosses know so others in the future don’t get confused. She just continues to laugh. Overall, HORRIBLE experience, probably won’t order online again and will wait for dine in buffet experience. 2 stars because the food is still good. Portions are small considering the price you pay. Can probably get better portions supporting smaller restaurants.

Service not very friendly, I asked for five soy sauce with my order and was told four is the max, for a fifth they were going to need to charge me lol. Unbelievable. Edit in response to the owner's comment about a changing market and covid as an excuse to gouge people for an extra packet of soya sauce. I'll now be giving my money to an establishment that doesn't charge me for an extra packet of soy sauce, just on principle.

The service is very nice and quick, but the food is sometimes too oily than what people are probably used to. A nice place to go for a family dinner

Staff is great, food is great (for a buffet), selections are great, customers are.well, it's a buffet and people watching is great! ;-p
My wife and I love the Mandarin.just not the swelling for 3 days after. But that's what you get when you consume the amounts of sodium and MSG found in North American "Chinese" food. Still worth it once or twice a year.

The best Chinese buffet with class and style that you can go to in hamilton! The staff are always attentive to your needs and they always seem to keep bringin the hot towels for your hands which is awesome

My family really look forward to going to the mandarin because of all the variety of foods there is to choose from. The Mandarin has kept up with local competition considering this restaurant is an all you can eat and it has been in business for years. I really believe that the restaurant is successful because of the friendly customer service provided by the staff aswell as the innovative dishes offered.
I recommend this restaurant for family events. Everyone in the family will find at least one dish they will enjoy.

Great place. I wish they would innovate more though. I think the regular stuff is great whwn it comes to traditional chinese food, however, i strongly believe it devalues their authenticity when they go to lengths to also serve european and north american cuisine.

A bit expensive in the evenings and on the weekends, but if you like crab legs, it is well worth it. Just a note, if you are planning to take kids or family members that don't eat much, or don't like seafood, consider going for lunch. The price is very reasonable. *******no more hot crab

Always a great dining experience at Mandarin. Food is always hot and fresh. Good selection of anything you would want. Staff is very friendly and attentive.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. They “lost” our reservation, told my husband there was nothing they could do and did not have room for us on my daughters birthday. After talking with the manager again we were told to wait an extra 30 minutes and she would see if she could get us in, did not offer us a discount for the mistake THEY made, did not offer us a free drink, nothing. All while my daughter sat in the waiting chair area crying because all she wanted for her 7th birthday was mandarin. The female manager was extremely rude and decided it was okay to brush the situation off. While we were waiting this happened to another couple which ended up getting angry and left as well. Definitely needs better customer service and organizational skills.

I do not go often to Mandarin but it is a good place to visit oncw in a while. Everyone is extra polite and everything is clean. The buffet is kept full all the time. I take my mother here once a year for her birthday and she loves it.

Good place in atmosphere and you cannot go home hungry. It's buffet all-you-can-eat and lots to choose from, Bon appetit!

We had a large party and the service was great. Whenever food ran out it was promptly filled and all the employees seemed very happy to be working there. It was a great environment.

We had the pleasure of dining at the Upper James St. Mandarin restaurant on Sunday. Even though it was during the Christmas Rush, the food and service were exceptional. Our server was very friendly and attentive, as was the manager who came to chat with us. I would recommend if you're in the Hamilton area that you take advantage of the opportunity to go to Mandarin on Upper James, you won't be disappointed!

Good food. I had never been to the Hamilton one before, it was very busy and would advise a reservation, but once inside and seated it was spacious. The staff were great and accommodating

This is a very good Mandarin Restaurant. The staff were nice, friendly and professional from arrival to departure. They were always available when needed. The food was freshly prepared and always well presented. There is such a wide variety and this combined with high quality is the reason why we celebrate at least 1 or 2 family birthdays here every year.

Was very busy.of course it was a friday night celebrating my coworkers bday (they put all the bday ppl in the same room as not to disturb other patrons (which makes sense). Only thing I didnt like is when i asked for another meringue pie she took it out of the fridge below and used the same dirty utensil that was used for the last pie which had other stuff on it.bathroom could use some help (there should be no out of order signs for a place that charges $30 bucks pp. Our waitress was quick and friendly but didnt offer me anything to drink when I arrived so it was so busy I just finished my water. I only tipped what was left of my bill was $35.04 she got what was left from$ 40.

This restaurant is a great location. Staff are friendly, food variety is good. Tried the steak and the beef brisket and it's really good! Would come back again. Parking is located in the plaza. Weekends are really busy however during the week it's not that bad and it was not a long wait for us getting a table.

Service for bringing drinks, napkins, refills etc. Were on par. The food that night which was a sat. Was not that tasteful for the price we paid. No crab legs or lobster. Apparently only on special holidays they do that. Buffet style is good but sometimes food tastes the same as others.

A good place to eat to your heart's content. So be sure to go hungry or it would be a waste of resources. A team of friendly staff would serve you throughout your visit. Highly recommended for everyone.

Love the Mandarin! Lots of food to choose from and great food! Great for kids as well.
But kids are not free. My one year old was $2 as well as my 3 year old was $2. No it's not horrible, but unexpected. Most, if not all, other restaurants they are free. So just keep that in mind. But my kids did love it.
The only thing that could be better though is that for birthday people they just grab one of those mini cupcakes from the dessert bar and stick a candle in it. That was disappointing.
But super yummy food!

This my favourite Chinese diner. Always consistent, all the best quality, great host, great food, awesome dining experience, always, everytime.
