The best value and quality of food anywhere. Staff was so friendly and efficient. Linda was a lovely server and made us feel special and cared for. Will certainly return.
Both of our waitress, Sue and Sangmo did a great job of serving us and making sure we had everything we needed despite the place being packed for the dinner rush!
Great atmosphere! My partner and I truly enjoyed our night here. All the staff was courteous and our server Jenny did a great job attending to us. Definitely recommend
**Edit** Have been several times after the original post. Unfortunately after the last visit we will not be returning. The pandemic price as you will, is ridiculously to their small selection. Much higher without the crab legs. Shrinkflation. It was nice while it lasted I guess.
This location is a little smaller then some others. The only down fall to this chain is they up the price Friday-Sunday by $7 for dinner all because they add crab legs to the buffet. Not everybody eats crab legs so not every body should be paying more for it. Maybe instead of the server constant filling the water they can also serve crab legs to the ones who want it and add the $7 to their bill. Any other day, $24 is worth the price. Food is always good.
Five stars for the staff and service. Food is good and would return to eat here. I have two toddlers and one of them has a sesame allergy, which you can imagine, sucks when it comes to eating out for Asian food. The staff at Mandarin were super cautious about our kid’s allergy and checked on every menu item we ordered. They would separate the sauces for some of the dishes just to take extra precautions. This really helps take away any anxieties we have with not only taking young children out to restaurants but making sure they are safe with the foods they eat. So thank you.:)
First off.amazing staff and friendly service. Never had an empty drink all night and plates were cleared quickly.
Sadly, we learned that crab legs were discontinued which was a huge disappointment. Other than typical Chinese food, all the "other" items such as corn on the cob, sushi, steak and such disappeared quickly and were listed as "limited time" so we ended up paying $40 a person for a Chinese food buffet we could have paid $20 a person elsewhere and closer to home. In the end the food tasted ok but a lot of items were over cooked and dry such as muscles, ribs and imitation crab was full of water.
Absolutely loved this place for years but won't back because it's not worth the cost for what you get compared to other all you can eat buffets.
You don't go to Mandarin to get the best tasting food, you go because you want variety and eat a weeks worth of food in one sitting. Those torpedo shrimp are on point.
Food was absolute dog water. I would rather eat rabbit pellets then the food they serve here. Everything tasted horrible and I had Food Poisoning after attending this horrific facility. The CFIA has been notified and I hope they close you guys.
Très propre, une excellente variété de nourriture. C'est délicieux et le personnel est très respectueux et poli. Je recommande chaudement si vous cherchez à vous gâter.
Very good for the the price and the staff are really nice.but one thing i did nt like if you don.t eat everything your not able to have a doggy bag and thats one thing i ate about that specialy for the price we pay for are food
Food here is the best. Environment is very good, and you can never have enough of food here. By the time its time for dessert, I have no place left for more food.
Got to say for a large place they have good service. But for the most part they have AMAZING food and such a large selection I've been 4 times and each time the food was to die for there's nothing they really have that is bad and they always are fully stocked. I can't wait to go back! Would highly recommend!
The food is always hot and tasty I have to change my review from last year. The taste of the food was great. However it was lukewarm at best. I had ordered tea with my meal and I was almost done before it arrived. I know that these are difficult times but restaurants have had enough time by now to be prepared to receive customers in the manner in which they are accustomed.
Worried about cross contamination thanks to COVID? Well here they got it under control for buffet service. Serious adherence from entry to filling your plate is an example cruise ship lines should adapt. No spoiler on how, so stop by and find out. All this and still they deliver on selection. For me the best was the fresh Sushi. Yes fresh.
I really appreciate the management of these fine restaurants. They really care about the customers experience. I look forward to returning for our next meal here! You have to wear a mask and gloves when you go to get your food which is a good idea even after COVID.
I order the Singapore noodles almost every week. Normally it’s very good, but today’s rates a 2/5 at best. Terrible: tasteless, little meat, not at all spicy, and the noodles were cut into 2” segments, as though it was for a three-year old. Try using chopsticks on 2” long “noodles”…
I don’t like leaving low reviews, but the restaurant seems to have zero email or contact form. A business that makes it difficult to contact it? Mmm.
Really good food and service, the staff were really good in modifying the order as we had a few allergies to be aware of. The food portions were plentiful, ready on time and a free trial dish, Sesame meatballs, was included which i must say was delicious.
Three ingredients: Salt / Rubber & Dust. I understand that buffets tend to have a more neutral flavour to appease the masses, but I went once with the family and wasted a pile of coin on horrible food. Find a small local place and support them before considering Mandarin.
Takeout from Mandarin is our family get-together staple. We know it is going to be good and we are not going to be disappointed. We have had it about 20 times over the past two years and it has been great every time: they are very consistent. Our favourite dishes are Singapore noodles, chicken teriyaki, and chicken curry.
I honestly don’t think our experience could have been any better. The staff is super kind and professional. They will get anything you ask for and accommodate your request. The food was simply amazing. I do believe that this place offers better quality food than mandarin at other locations. Thanks!
While I have come to expect delicious food quickly (a la carte currently) and service that's above reproach, everything seemed extremely rushed. There didn't seem to be any organization, the food was clearly not fresh, and I felt more like a nuisance trying to correct order issues.
Really enjoyed our New years dinner. Food was fabulous and very reasonable. Also had a complimentry surprise dessert of Creme Brule which is our favorite!
Great place If you are really hungry. A lot of food to try.great presentation of buffet. Very clean. Staff is great! Wait until you see the desserts.also senior discount everyday
Love love LOVE mandarin. The meals, snacks sides, desserts and the service is wonderful. Just wish they'd let me take some more mints haha but it's great
Very gross. Plates and glasses were so dirty my group couldn't eat or drink from them. Tried a plate of food it was so mediocre we didn't even finish and didn't go back for any more I wouldn't recommend this place. They didn't seem to care we were unsatisfied. The warm cloths they give are over used and people wipe there noses and anything they can use it for then they reuse it again and again for others. Management wasn't helpful. And dirty cups were brought 2 times after asking for new ones.
*This review is based on our most recent visit. Our past experiences have been pleseant* Staff was nice, holiday pricing was unexpected, we picked out chicken and it was raw. Notified the waiter and yet the chicken was continuing to be served. Desserts we not being refilled, quite dissapointed for this trip.
Wide variety of Chinese, with some Western and even Indian curry chicken. Fresh, hot, nicely presented, with calorie information for each dish. The only off-note was that the final bill was higher than expected (2 adults + 1 kid, with one each tea/beer/milk hit ~$100).
Good variety of delicious food. In a more upscale feel when compared to other similar establishments. One of our favorite buffets. We'll worth the slight price premium.
Decent buffet food was decent but some of the dishes were pretty empty. Wait staff were great and friendly and one of the owners even came to check in on several of the tables to make sure standards and expectations were met. The only issue is the cost it is fairly high priced
The food was exellant flavorful very tender meats not overcooked not undercooked. The service was impeccable curtious friendly helpful. A delightfull eating experience. The choice of food was almost overwhelming.
Excellent food selection, so much variety and it was all great quality. It’s always a good sign when your only criticism is that the pickles could be more crunchy.
Great food and staff was absolutely amazing! The best service, they were very polite, helpful and attentive. Plus so many different foods to choose from at the buffet and every single one I've tried was delicious. Definitely coming back!
We were a group of 50 for a surprise birthday party. We were jammed in a small room with very tight seating. I was expecting table cloths to dress the tables but instead met with drab tables. No warm clothes given either. Servers were excellent and bathrooms clean. Food variety was not their strong point. No almond guy ding or egg foo young and no spicy beef/chicken. Lots of baked crispy drumsticks when I am going there for Chinese food. Many smaller Chinese take-outs are better. I miss the Emerald. 2 thumbs down.
This is a asian-style buffet restaurant but they seem to do it better than others. The food is always fresh. They have salads, sushi, and just about any Asian dish you could want. If you have room, there is a large dessert bar with frozen yogurt, ice cream, pies, tarts, and other delicious dessert. This place is a little on the pricey side but I gave it five stars for the quality of the food and service.
Service was not the best, food was so so, some things were dry and others soggy. Was not impressed. Won't go back. And extremely overpriced for the quality of food.
The budget food is usually good here but the price is a bit high so we don't go as after as we might. It has to be a special occasion to pay so much per person. That said, we enjoyed our meal and the service was courteous and prompt.
This restraunt blows every other chinese restraunt out of the water! Friendly staff, beautiful decorations. The buffet is huge and fresh, same with the deserts, the staff is easy to flag down and always refilling drinks even if they are half empty. I would travel 6 hours to go here all the time if i could.
Thanks to the staff for being so great and tge chefs for making great food
I have always eaten in the Mandarin, when I lived in Toronto so I was so happy to see the franchise in Ottawa. Food is always fresh and topped up regularly. Its a bit pricey but nothing too crazy. I believe lunch is approximately $16 or $17 and dinner can range as high as almost $30 on the weekends. Plenty to choose from right down to the desserts which have sugar free options. There's soup, bread, salads, all your Asian cuisine, seafood and some western dishes too. Really like the warm towels as well
There IS something for everyone here. We came for lunch and the consensus is that everything is fresh and there is plenty available. Staff is on the floor rotating through the restaurant to ensure that patrons are getting what they need and that everything is clean, sanitized. This is a restaurant suitable for individuals, groups, families from all walks of life. There's an ATM on site. Even though it is an "all you can eat" buffet restaurant they do have a menu that you can order from, a la carte, for those who wish not to participate in an all-you-can-eat environment. The one drawback of this restaurant is the state of the bathrooms. I would sum that up to the sheer volume that this restaurant experiences on a daily basis. Having said that, Management should take the necessary measures to ensure that the bathrooms are cleaned at a higher frequency. The quantity of food and the variety of types of food available is quite amazing. It is important to note that the lunch menu does not include leg of lamb, prime rib and a few other specialty items that are specifically designed for the supper menu. Every guest at our table was 100% satisfied with the food and service. They were also in agreement regarding the washrooms. Bon appetit! #localguide
Had an excellent first experience at this restaurant last week. The positive reviews are well deserved. Amazing variety of food and desserts. Many options for those who need to avoid sugar. Everything was so fresh and the staff were kind and attentive. Will be going back regularly.
