One of the worst and rude doctors we met in our whole life. She discouraged my wife and gave her mental stress.

I’d like to edit the rating of my experience ar Maple Kids. My daughter has been a patient for almost 3 years until recently. Dr. Zavareh has missed a hearing issue that my daughter developed due to ear fluid which also caused developmental delay in her speech and her health overall. If Dr. Zavareh has thoroughly reviewed her hearing test results and referred us earlier to an ENT without me asking for it, we would have been in a much better place right now.
We set out to look for a new pediatrician and as soon as I asked to send a referral (we haven’t been accepted yet) they kicked my daughter out as a patient right away, leaving her without any doctor in the meantime. When I asked her to be seen for her scheduled check up until we get accepted (we were not sure when we will) we were refused which resulted in a needless argument. The receptionist lady (don’t know her name) seemed determined to deny my daughter a doctor and was making fun of me. She also claimed that my child and I are “known” at the clinic. My child suffered partial hearing loss due to doctor’s negligence and I was being mocked for complaining. I never filed a formal complaint, but having received this attitude and complete ignorance it seems I should.

I liked the clinic in the past, we mostly interracted with other doctors during the walk ins. I cannot recommend that doctor anymore and especially not that ridiculous receptionist who thinks she can make statements about my child.

Excellent clinic. We have had a pleasant experience for each of our visits. Dr Ostro is knowledgeable and patient, and is blessed with great bedside manners. Highly recommend this place if you have young kids. The clinic is clean, organized, and very efficient with their booking process and the respect for appointment times.

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews for this clinic and would read those with a bucket of salt if I were you. Having visited multiple times for our newborn each appointment has been nothing short of amazing. They are always well staffed with multiple people at the front who are courteous, professional and well-organized. I have also never had to wait long or felt like appointment availability was an issue. The nurses on staff are always friendly and did an incredible job immunizing our infant. Our paediatrician Dr. Prabhu has to be the most patient, thoughtful and knowledgeable doctor my wife & I have had the pleasure of interacting with. All that to say - I would highly recommend this clinic without a second thought!

Dr. Ostro has been my kids Pediatrician for years! He is amazing, and I would recommend him. I have seen a few walk in doctors as well when needed. Most recently I have seen Dr. Matta as a walk in doctor. He is rude, ignorant and has no idea what he’s saying. He didn’t know what “a few days” of a cold meant. He said he couldn’t help me if I didn’t tell him the exact number of days of a cold. He didn’t fully examine my child, just kept typing away on his computer. He was stuttering, couldn’t stay on track to what he was trying to say, as he stared at the ground and not to me. Definitely not good with small children either! I do not recommend him at all!

Probably one of the worst kids clinics we have been to. The doctors have no compassion. Please read other reviews before visiting this centre. Dr Zavareh is very rude with strong attitudes. Booking system is very messy. Avoid this centre if you can. Your time and energy will be waisted with this unprofessional team.

Such a wonderful experience with Dr. Zavareh and the nurse who checked is in ️ the nurse was so friendly and I loved that she gave my son a hug before telling him "bye". Dr. Zavareh was very nice and made me feel very comfortable during my son's assessment. Everything was on time and my son left happy

My only critique is that the office manager was pretty rude and the instructions sent to us were completely incorrect. There seemed to be a huge lack of communication between her and the doctor.

Update: She reached out to me to amend the situation and for that I am thankful and have nothing bad to say about the office.

I’m surprised at the negative comments. We started coming here since our baby was born. He is now 9 months old and I have always had a positive experience. We never have to wait. It is in and out within 30-40 mins- no wait times. The nurses are lovely. Dr. Matta is our paediatrician and we’ve been here for walk-in’s with different doctors too. Always have a pleasant experience and doctors are concerned. Our appointments are always given to us ahead of time and we have not had any issues.

Unfortunately, we tried to book an appointment for our baby after three years with this office since we were out of Canada for that time and when called back we were asked to pay 100 dollars extra before booking any new appointments since they had mistakenly booked us for an appointment that we did not know three years ago. And when we refused to pay it they said we should find another doctor.
It gives me the feeling like this office is all about money not the professional practice. I am so very much disappointed and will never go back to them again.
If I had booked that appointment I would surely pay for it too but it looks like they want me to pay for their mistake.

One of the worst kids clinics around! Staff are rude, wait times are longer then in a hospital and the doctors are not experienced.

Stay away from this clinic. They overbook appointments and always have long wait times. You can almost never get someone on the phone without leaving a voicemail and waiting 24-72hrs before getting a receptionist to call back. Dr. Daniel Ostro is the worst pediatrician we’ve ever seen. He lacks compassion for his young patients. He is incredibly sarcastic and condescending, states opinion as fact, narcissistic and abrasive. If you enjoy being made to feel incompetent as a parent then go see him. He will give you no good medical advice but plenty of his own opinion.

Probably one of the worst kids clinics we have been to. The doctors have no compassion, run this place like a production line. Even to get a simple blood work requisition is like pulling teeth. Avoid if you can.

I asked for my toddler’s one-page vaccination record to be emailed to me. I was told there would be a $10 charge, which is absurd to me. When I challenged it, I was told the fee was for the email and for the (at the time it was mentioned) 53 second phone call I was having with front desk staff.

When I mentioned that I would never charge my patients a cent for this service, she waived the fee “because you’re a doctor”, thinking this would placate me.

The next time Dr. Matta is 1.5 hours late to see my children for a scheduled well visit, I will be charging Maple Kidz for MY time. And please know that my hourly rate is far more than $10/hour.

Nothing really stands out about this clinic. The waiting times are long, the phone lines are always busy, and getting a timely appointment is challenging, so much so that in cases of real emergencies I knew I could never rely on the doctors there. The virtual appointments are a huge joke. I had two disappointing virtual visits for my son, the first doctor said my son was ok even though he had an extremely high fever for 3 days, that night I took my son to emergency and turns out he had an ear infection. How can a doctor tell if a child is ok over the phone or through video? It’s a joke. My son’s doctor was Zavareh. She doesn’t really bother to form a connection with her patients and didn’t seem very experienced or knowledgeable. Hence the reason why I decided to transfer to another doctor. Also, I was charged 50$ for the transfer of records and 3 days later, the records were still not transferred.

Today I came late around 4: 30 but they accepted my son to see the doctor, Also Dr. Minoo is a best doctor in this clinic, thank you so much and appreciate it from the receptionist

Maple Kidz is a multi-doctor clinic and my review is specifically for Dr. Pooja Prabhu, Laura Patterson, and Maria Romeu (the latter 2 whom are their IBCLC lactation consultants).

Breastfeeding is one of the most unnatural natural things that new and seasoned mothers are expected to just “know how to do” and “get back into the groove of”. Little do people know that each journey is so different because babies are all different and each journey has its own challenges.

A lot of people ALSO don’t know that you’d an get referred by your OB and pediatrician/GP to a physician who specializes in breastfeeding and this is entirely covered by OHIP. I had no idea this was even a thing until Maria, the IBCLC, informed me of this.

Right off the bat, when my son was born, my OB signed off a referral to MapleKidz and we were seen relatively quickly by Dr. Prabhu because he was having some challenges transferring. We were able to pursue a few visits and Dr. Prabhu, alongside with Maria and Laura’s expertise, allowed us to have a great start to our breastfeeding journey.

I am so grateful that I knew of these services this time around and really wish I had known of them when my daughter was born at the peak of covid. Although I was lucky enough to have also breastfed her, it was like climbing Mt Kilimanjaro! This time, it was like…climbing a small hill because I had 3 fantastic experts and cheerleaders by my side who helped me up the hill.

We are early in our journey and I will forever be grateful for the three of them. We hope to continue this beautiful journey for a long while. I highly recommend MapleKidz if you’re having issues feeding right off the bat. Early intervention is key but if you’re late in the game and also want help, it’s not too late either! Thank you Maple Kidz!

Not a reflection on the Dr.s (since we were denied one) but with the admin staff that refused to sign my son up as we ‘walked-in’
‘You cannot be seen if your child has another pediatrician. ’ Let that sink in for a minute….
They can easily have a walk-in option but are overwhelmed at 8: 50 with over bookings.

The empathy and care doesn’t exist within her bones at a kids clinic. You get what you give Admin who sits on the right when you walk in at the counter.

Forcing people to wear the Mask, you dont offer any for free, which is sold 100 pcs for 10$!
You charge us 25$ for adminstration fee while you do nothing in real, waiting for my kid to grow up and never come here anymore.

Do not recommend this clinic anymore.
We had an appointment for possible vaccines we need for our baby before travelling. They warned us that vaccines aren't covered by OHIP, all good.
The doctor was 1h 30m late to the appointment. They charged us $60 for the "travel consultation" and nobody told us about this fee ahead of the appointment.

The consultation was the doctor (Dr Matta) reading from the CDC website and NOT actually giving us a recommendation or risk factors. I CAN READ for free, thank you very much.

When we told them that nobody told us about the fee they gave us attitude saying their notes stated that they told us.

Otherwise, nurses are friendly and great.

Appointments always run late.
They never pick up their phone.

Look elsewhere if you can.

1 Dr Zavareh cared the least about patients! She is the worst Dr I ve ever seen. We visited the clinic for an emergency as my daughter s ear was bleeding and we checked in at 1050am. Waited for 1.45 hrs and on one was attending to us as all staff were gone - only to find out that she left us in the waiting room and left for her lunch break- managed to get the front desk to remind her that her patient was waiting due to an emergency and she came with a cold face and complained that it s her lunch break and asked us to wait till she came back frm her break and then simply walked away. What kind of dr would ignore a crying child with a bleeding ear <she knew it becuz we saw her via video call prior). Another dr had offered to help despite the fact that it’s his lunch break too. Obviously she cared more about having a break than saving lives. While I do respect People’s lunch break however I wish the waiting hours could be communicated to us or at least we be informed when staff have gone for a lunch break/ instead of being left in the waiting room while the staff have all gone. She seemed to favour certain ethnicity than others as she was using her other native lanuage with one patient and appeared nice but with us she s extremely rude and least sympathetic.
2 The clinic is Overstuffed and highly inefficient- they called multiple times asking for my sons immunisation records while that was already sent in the referral. They had multiple nurses - one checking babies height and the other one came and offered to do it again. Called in and emailed them to have my kids records transferred from our previous clinic and they failed to do so In two months. NOT Going back again.

My experience with this clinic has been amazing! I live in a remote area and I am doing all of my visits virtually with Maria and Dr. Prabhu. After I came home from the hospital, I had my 1st virtual visit. The team helped with with:
-Breastfeeding positions that were more comfortable for me and baby (since I had c section)
-Latching techniques
-Taught me “compression technique” to help baby get more milk while nursing
-Weight Gain since baby needed to gain a bit more weight
-Maria recommend, and Dr. Prabhu prescribed, cream for painful nipples (which the cream helped after 2 days and have not had to use it again since)
My 2nd virtual visit the team helped with with:
-Pumping: Offered lots of help purchasing proper pump and proper pump accessories. Also taught me how to measure myself to ensure I was using correct flange while pumping.
I will be having a 3rd virtual appt with Maria to teach me how to give baby bottle properly when I’m ready to start bottle feeding (yes, there is a method when baby is still mainly breastfeeding; which I didn’t know)
I will be having a 6 month virtual appt when baby is ready to start food (baby cereal).
I will have another virtual appt when baby is 9 month and ready to start different foods and milk.

The things that Maria and Dr. Prabhu have taught me have made my breastfeeding journey a piece of cake. So many helpful tips and advice. Things you would never think of! They will be following me for my babies entire first year of life during every feeding milestone which is a huge help as this is my first baby and I want to make sure I’m doing things correctly and at baby’s correct age. A huge thank you to Maria and Dr. Prabhu ️

Please if you go to this clinic do not pick dr. Zavareh az your child's pediatrician! She could not diagnose a simple "milk protein allergy" and prescribed my son 3 different medications. One for his reflux (at 2 months), laxative for his constipation and Hydrocortisone for excema. Whereas all these symptoms could have been fixed with a simple hypoallergenic formula. When she couldn't find a reason why he is so constipated all the time, she suggested he might have "Hirschsprung disease" and wanted to send him for an X-RAY! As a first time mom with no experience I could easily guess my son has an allergy but when I brought it up to her she said she doesn't think it's an allergy and I better not give him hypoallergenic formula because he may get used to it! I am so disappointed and upset that my baby had to go through so much pain for 5 months and finally when I changed his doctor, he suggested the right formula and ALL his symptoms disappeared. Yes, of course she's very nice but definitely not knowledgeable!

I had a great experience with Dr. Zavareh for both of my sons. She is so knowledgeable, caring and always spends so much time to do comprehensive exam and answer all our concerns. She referred my younger one to ophthalmologist and stayed on top of the all communication and referral procedure to get him the earliest appointment. We are living an hour away from Maple Kidz, but it worth to drive all the way here as I feel my sons are in a safe hands. Thanks to Maple Kidz and Dr. Zavareh.

Sadden by the level of understanding given by all levels at this office. My sons doctor had left and we were offered 2 choices to remain in the office. Met with the new doctor one time and felt physically uncomfortable. It was shocking at the lack of knowledge, attitude, bedside manner and attitude this person had. Decided I would just think on it and see how I felt after going home.

Later asked to be changed to another doctor in the clinic. Was told No. This person makes me FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE. How is it in 2021 that a women can say this and it is discounted. Will be going somewhere else.

We just transferred to Maple Kids Clinic after our previous pediatrician retired. It has be a easy transition for both of my girls. Everyone from the receptionists, nurses and doctors are so friendly and knowledgeable.

Dr. Ostro is the pediatrician for our baby. He is professional, knowledgeable, and a very caring doctor. We are so lucky to have him as our son’s pediatrician. During our time at the clinic, we were also fortunate to see Dr. Prabhu who was very thorough and accommodating. She has an excellent bedside manner while helping my wife with breastfeeding support. In addition, Maple Kidz clinic staff were very organized and friendly. They were able to get us an appointment in a timely fashion, and they are always very welcoming to our baby boy’s needs. We highly recommend Maple Kidz clinic to anyone looking for high quality care for their children’s needs.

I tried to come in with my seven-month-old baby as he cannot move one of his arms due to I assume nurses elbow, Which is something our daughter also had two or three times which just needs to be snapped back in place… They refused and said they will only do virtual appointments… I explained that they cannot fix elbow that needs to be pushed back into place via online and they still refused… Be aware of corrupt agencies like these… They do not care about your children… you cannot treat every patient the same way… I would understand if it was a cold or a cough or something small… But something that needs to be manually pushed back in… Ridiculous healthcare systems

This place is clean, very well accessible, with good amount of parking. Dr. Matta is precisely the kind of pediatrician I was looking for my first baby girl, he is very informative, kind, and gives his full attention to the child. He takes his time and answers all your questions. The staff is nice and friendly as well.

We love Maple Kidz Clinic! The doctors and nurses are all so helpful, knowledgeable, kind, patient, reassuring and explain things really well. We’ve had a few appointments already and we get taken immediately and have never had to wait more than 30 seconds. It’s so easy to make an appointment and the administrative team is incredible. We couldn’t imagine going anywhere else!

Great experience with Dr. Zavarei. Attentive, informative and caring. She always listens. The front desk staff are kind, wonderful and polite. Highly recommended!

Dr. Prabhu and Dr. Ostro are super knowledgable and helpful. Met with Dr. Prabhu for help with breastfeeding and she immediately identified the possible root of the issue we are having and suggested solutions. I look forward to continue working with both of them.

Amazing Experience with the doctor (Dr. Daniel Ostro) and the staff (receptionists + nurses). I took my 2 month old baby for his checkup and this is my 2nd visit. They always give a warm welcome and the wait time is very minimal. Dr. Ostro and Dr. Matta both are very patient with the babies and parents they answer all questions patiently and never try to rush you out. I am very happy to have seen both doctors for my baby and I am happy that Dr. Ostro is my baby's pediatrician. Thank you Maple Kidz, keep up the good work!

Great staff & knowledgeable doctors who really take the time to care for your child! Everyone is very patient and kind. A very welcoming environment! I would definitely recommend this office to anyone.

We love Maple Kidz Clinic! Our Pediatrician, Dr. Ostro is amazing and such a breath of fresh air. Down to earth and super funny! He never makes us feel bad for asking questions and is always open to discussions about sons healthcare, which helps us feel empowered. We love that we can email him any questions in between visits and he's always quick to respond, even scheduling virtual visits if necessary. Never having had a family doctor I love that he remembers our previous visits and conversations and follows up.
Our nurse Dava is also fantastic. She's so kind and always pleasant. Both times she did our sons vaccination shots and was a pro! She made the whole experience way less stressful.
Finally, the staff at reception are very warm and welcoming. They always return phone calls in a timely manner and are quick to check us in.
The clinic itself is clean and kid friendly and I love that they have a breastfeeding room for moms. Overall our experience has been nothing short of great!

The staff are always helpful and answer any questions. No issues with booking appointments and the care given to my daughter is top notch.

I have been going to the clinic for 6 months, throughout the pandemic. I feel that they have taken appropriate percautions to protect staff and patients. The nurses, adminstration and doctors have been friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I would feel comfortable recommending this clinic.

It was my first time @ the clinic & I absolutely loved the friendly environment, the clean, kid friendly rooms, nice nurses, and the amazing Dr. Zavareh who took a very good care of us. ️️️

This clinic is very clean and organized. I recieve my appointment reminders and get booked appointments conveniently. I am very happy how i am explained everything thoroughly. The reception is very welcoming and sweet. Highly recommended.

Its always a great time at my kids’ appointments here. Its a very welcoming environment. The receptionists and nurses here are just awesome. We love our visits with Dr. Ostro. He is very knowledgeable and takes his time to explain things thoroughly or if we have any questions, and doesn’t rush through the appointment. My 3 year old loves the paintings and other small details the clinic has in place to to make it feel kid-friendly.

What a sweet group! Had my first appointment with our newborn here and Dr. Zavareh walked in and immediately started the appointment without a wait at all. Provided lots of great suggestions and spent time answering every question I had without rushing through anything. She let let us stay behind to feed and change which was great as our drive back was long. Great experience overall

Best clinic out there? The staff is top notch and everything is run smoothly and professionally. My children love it there.

The doctors here are wonderful. They listen to your concerns, rather than brushing you off. The receptionists- especially Aileen are very pleasant and helpful. I know my children are in good hands:)

I have nothing but good things to say about Maple Kidz Clinic. Dr. Ostro is my daughter's pediatrician and has been nothing but professional and re-assuring to a first time mom. I've contacted him with questions man times about my daughter and he will return my messages in a timely matter with useful information. I've also seen Dr. Witt and Dr. Roushdi during walk in hours and they've been great as well. With regards to the wait times, I haven't had to wait longer than 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment to be brought into the room. And yes, the wait times during walk-in hours can be long if you don't go early, but what else do you expect when you go to a walk in clinic. Dava and Rachel (the nurses) have been great every time we've been in.
